Wow! Ron did you see the Ipomoea indica Betty Mars further down the page,
a bi-color? It's stunning.

LOL Joseph. Yep it's ok for fisher types to have baited breath as long as they don't use the hook. Just hold the bait between your teeth.

The yellow morning glory reminds me of Spring and Easter like when it will be time to plant the new seeds.

It also reminds me a little bit of the beach and sand dollars...

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

Ron,that is lovely! How big is the bloom?

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

Here is a lousy picture of an unknown MG today.Very delicate blue

Very nice, Ron. You don't usually see yellow colored M.G.'s.

golgi: Lovely M.G. pictures! I especially like the Candystripe purple. It reminds me of tie-dying.

Gail,

Such awesome pictures! Wow! Does Akatsuki no Hikari show much variations in the corolla pattern? It is definitely on my list to grow next year!!!

Joseph,my Hikaris are very consistant. Also the LARGEST blooms of any MG I have ever grown

Any educated guesses as to who this might be?I'm referring to the dark blue-purple on the left

patootie - Yes,I looked through all of the MG's that Hodnik carries...I sent him an e-mail asking if they will ship to the USA and he said they will, but that according to the US regulations sent to him,>all plants shipped must not contain soil,>so he re-wraps the roots in a moist veremiculite type material...and they must charge alittle extra for the re-packing...but,they do have some types that are not available from other suppliers in the US...
The soil free requirement is presumably to protect against the prion infections in European soils, but prions are actually everywhere and virtually indestructable...

gardener2005 - Pleasantly optimistic(!)...

golgi - The picture of the yellow MG is from Hodnik...I don't have it>(yet!),but gaugeing from Hodniks photo and a few others that I've seen of the same Yellow MG,I'd say that the corolla appears to be about 3 inches in diameter...as nice size...

The feathered I.purpurea that you posted here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/golgi_1158276908_259.jpg
does the main corolla remain unsplit(?) or does it have some splits in it(?)...

Your ANH's look very exemplary(!)...

This one here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/golgi_1158289388_282.jpg
looks what what happens to the Akatsuki no Muraskai's when the cooler weather affects the pigmentation, but as you already know >the same type of bloom could be produced by a number of other large flowered blue nils...

TTY,..

Ron

Willoughby, OH(Zone 5a)

Ron,the red I.purpurea has one fold/split,but unless examined closely appears complete.I have every possible variation of I.purpurea! They are an amazing species. All variations come from one pack of seeds I purchased from Burpees about 6 years ago. Here is a selection from today.

Golgi, loved all your m glory's.

Laurrie, I love this mutated glory. So weird but very pretty

Ron, thanx for all the info. I thought that the customs people would put
any plants sent to the US in quarantine for a couple of yrs. I think I saw 2 prices
on some of the plants, maybe 1 was a seed price and the other for a plant

Jackie

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Thanks Ron for that site i just ordered some seeds from there Convolvulus ochraceus Lindl
Paul

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

golgi - The blue-ish flower with the white edge could be a Fuji no Musume or another blue one could have picked up a white edge...

Your flowering cabbage is very interesting...

Laurrie - That 'rainbow carousel' here
http://pics.davesgarden.com/pics/OhioBreezy_1158345813_962.jpg
is outstanding(!)...it might be the cooler weather or yet another mutation from that 'helpful' Ohio 'radiation'...

patootie - If the plants have the right paperwork, customs shouldn't hold it up...I think the MG's that hodnik offers are priced per single plant and if your buying in quantity...

phicks - If you get seeds, and not a single plant let us know...I'm pretty sure they are just offering plants, but I'll be happy to order some seeds of just about everything they are offering...The yellow MG they offer might still be self-compatible and may produce some seeds(!)...the Ipomoea indica are all different enough so that they should cross fertilize and produce seeds(!)...

TTY,...

Ron

P.S. - here's another place that has a few rare MG species and they did offer seeds on some...they've recently moved from England to France and their catalog is not as easy to scan as hodnik, but if you're willing to search through it,there's some intrigueing things in there
http://plantsman.com/catalogue/catalogue00.html

Lakeland, FL(Zone 9b)

Ron when you go in there site go down the page some on the right you will see Graines thats the seeds it comes up in french if you scroll down it comes up in english to the have a lot of diff seeds Regards Paul

Dundee, OH(Zone 5b)

Ron, I am wondering if it's the cool nights and the dew in mornings that is helping the look of these, so many with the morning dew are "faded or mutated" so to speak, so very interesting!

Paris, TN(Zone 6b)

Golgi - beautiful combo of blooms there. I am seeing some magenta arrivals amidst my Grandpa Otts that I really like. Not sure if it's just a variation or what. And that heavenly blue! Already on my 'must plant' list for next year.

OhioBreezy - I just love your flowers. I sure hope I get some mutations like yours next year!

I bought some yellow MG seeds earlier this summer and I'm hoping to put those with my heavenly blues together next year.

Here is a pretty pink selection from this morning's flowers. It is a garden volunteer that I "rescued."

Arlan...love the satiny texture on that pink!! Awesome shot.

(Ronnie), PA(Zone 6b)

OOHH so shimmery!! Pretty

That's an awesome pink in that MG, Arlan! Wow! Gail the purples of Murasaki are out of this world as are the others in the pictures you posted!

Netcong, NJ(Zone 5b)

phicks-paul - The Graines link takes you to the Barbadine company located in the ReUnion Islands(part of France) in the Indian Ocean...they have some interesting seeds, but the seeds that Barbadine offers aren't the same as the plants offered by Hodnik...

Ipomoea ochracea has a dark purple-maroon colored bottom to the inner tube like in the PlantFiles here
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/93135/

The yellow plant offered by Hodnik has a yellow bottom...Hodnik is calling theirs a 'Convolvulus',but I can see that it doesn't have a split elongated stigma that is the key to the Convolvulus genus...

atenkley - Nice sheen on that one you rescued...somewhat similar to one that Emma had gotten...

TTY,...
