Here is what is becoming one of my favorites this year, Kawaii JMG. I really admire the even color of the corolla, and every flower is perfect, with hardly a tear on opening.

Here is a red flowered Kawaii JMG.

How can such pretty flower has such UGLY name as Q751 time to rename that one huh?? I like AuntB:s suggestion on Peppermint Kiss.
Nice that you finally will get flowers on Gypsy Bride as that one almost went ecstinct.

Nice flowerdisplay every one.

Joseph, that Q751 is still a favorite! The Q751 is actually the registration number in the Kyushu University's BioResource Center database which records the genetic make up of various strains they maintain!

Here is the listing: http://resourcedb.nbrp.jp/searchAction.do;jsessionid=E06A87B9EA0D3ED88F4644A939A0915E

Genotype : (y) s v;; mg pr sp

(y) - may contain the gene for yellow leaves
s - contains the star gene which gives us the flower shape of the "Picotee's" and the rumpled leaves
v - variegated foliage
mg and pr - magenta and purple giving the pink color
sp - speckled which gives us the beautiful speckled pattern

golgi - interesting pattern on your beautiful flower!

Arlan

Wow Gail that Blue Silk is a real knock-out beauty!

Arlan, thanks for the web site link! Fascinating what you find on the web!

look like there are features Ipomoea nil,Ipomoea hederaceae and perhaps Ipomoea purpurea

The closeup of the Ipomoea transvaalensis here

clearly shows the colored stigma...one for the PlantFiles...

I like the alpha-numeric designation of the Q751 and is the term that Kyushu wants to see remain on the strain...a welcome break from the syrupy names that can be a bit 'too sweet/uutsey-cutesy' for the guys that enjoy the plants...

Golgi-Gail - Nice variant out of the Blue Silk...

atenkley - Thanks for sharing the link(s)...

Here is the picture listing for those who want to look through it...21 pages...

Love that Akatsuki no Murasaki, such intense purple!

Ron, I will place the image in Plantfiles if I haven't done so already. I need to call Q751 Q0751 to match that database that Arlan shared.

Hi Pam Sue, this flower:

http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=2712978

Looks similar to this one. It is a different color but looks similar in form.

http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=2704464

You s`pose they could be related? I`m not sure what kind they are but the color is beautiful!!!

I fixed the links. I had the same flowers. I guess they Did look similar! :)

Arlan, Isn`t it fun to watch and see what these flowers will do next?

Here is a strange number we found by our mailbox. This is a Mount Fuji blue. I used this vine in my crosses with other vines that showed this kind of doubling but nothing...yet.

Mark, That is a pretty blue one. I have a weakness for the clear bright colors.

hi gardener...i do have the package that this red came out of..but alas, i do not read japanese

alot do look similar in form

pamsue

Gypsy Bride gave a first flower today, alas, I did not have time to take a picture. It is quite an interesting flower, very white, very shredded, like a pom-pon. I did not see any blue streaks like I had seen in some online photos, maybe that trait will appear with other flowers. Here's hoping for big seed production!

Joseph

Jacksonville, AR(Zone 7b)

Joseph, We'll be waiting. It may just be a blue dot on each of the largest
petals. Oh, Be still my beating heart.

Jackie

Jackie,

I will check the flower tonight!
