I just got a few more new pictures. This one is the Hannahabuki that was supposed to be pink but it turned out purple. It is getting more white. I like the way the white streaks remind me of fireworks like little sparks.

these were torn but still nice I think. As the vine matures more white is showing on the flowers.

One more close up. For some reason the color looks slightly different in this picture. It could be the lighting was different at the time I took this picture.

And last but not least. This flower is so BLUE. The first flower was solid blue but I saw a hint of a star. Now this morning here was this very pretty flower. This picture doesn`t do it justice.

Great colors...(!)...

Franklin, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks Ron! When I saw it this morning I kind of let out a gasp...it really is striking! Now that I'm finally getting "bloomers", I wish I would have planted more MGs this year. Time just got away from me (worse than usual!)...

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7a)

oh, my!! Absolutely incredible flowers . . . I've never grown mg's, but looks like I will have to change my ways for next year! I think they get a bad rap out this way just because of the one "bad" one that strangles everything around it (I DO grow those, doggone it!). I'm aware that your beauties are not the same as that one, but you know how the mind works . . .

Happened upon your thread by accident - and what a lovely way to start the day! Many thanks.

Welcome Murmur! Yes, once a person discovers the "other" morning glories, you can't help but get hooked. Welcome to the forum and be sure to keep checking back. You'll get to see lots of beauties and learn a lot...especially from Ron!

Thanks, Sandy - I promise to be here and to take notes!!!!! I truly am in awe.

Here is a wierd flower from this morning. This vine was producing pink youjiros that looked normal up until this morning. Check it out.(Edit:It isn`t the same vine.)

gardener that is a pretty flower..hmmmmmmm pollinate it and tag it??

Murmur Welcome to MG forum and I am afraid :0)) that these flowers are pretty addictive. I have MG:s growing around impatiense and cannas and some more plant, NON have been strangled by them not even the "invasive" C.Sepium var Sepium have strangled the bush it grows on and has grown on for some 10-20 years.

I just went and double checked the vine. It is a different vine from the ones I tagged at the beginning. I`ll check and see later how it grows.

Welcome Murmur!

Thanks, everyone - I'm truly intrigued and looking forward to seeing your blossoms (have to start making plans for my MG garden!!).

Bump

patootie, the solid pink with pale eye looks a lot like the Kawaii JMG I am growing. It is awesome the one you have! I really am enjoying the show everyone has! I was away several days and have to catch up!

I like this pic more of Rose Zebra but it's also out of focus. Don't know what I'm
doing wrong.

P.S. - All genera in the family Convolvulacea have flowers which are monoecious hermaphrodites with the rare exception of the dioeciuos tribe Hildebrandtieae which includes the genera Cladostigma, Hildebrandtia and Sabaudiella

This is my first chocolate flower. It is ruffly with a white margin.

This one is a pretty blue one I found. It has long thin solid green leaves and I like it a lot.

And some that are interesting.

Gardner2005, the dark blue one really demands your attention! I like the red throat too.

Please remember me in trade this fall with this one... http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=2694172 , does it have "yellow" leaves? I am fascinated by the chocolates..

I had some flowers with edges folded back earlier this year, like your pink striped one. I think mine were weather related...

The chocolate one was an unexpected and pleasant surprise. The leaves are normal green with variegation. Sure, I should have seeds for trading this fall. It depends on if I get pods. I have never traded before but think it would be great.

Picture day!

Here is Q751 JMG again, and following it is a few shots of its sepals.

I like Q751, is that variegated foliage?? Although Peppermint Kiss would be a much cuter name ;)

I have a big container going of 'Gypsy Bride' with a ton of leaves and just this past week or two it has been showing flower buds (how exciting is that?)! Here are leaf shots.

Thumbnail by

Q751 has nicely variegated leaves, but not as intensely variegated as some cultivars. One thing is for sure it makes flowers which are not very widely separated on the vine, making for a dense display of color. We had such rains this past week, all the flowers melted in the deluges.

Joseph

Here is another 'Gypsy Bride' leaf shot.

Here are 2 shots of developing flower buds of Gypsy Bride.

And the second shot of Gypsy Bride flower buds.

Here are 2 shots of Ipomoea transvaalensis, nice even lavender color on the flowers and the leaves are way cool.
