Show me your gates! Please!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

I love garden gates, but not mine, it's pitiful. Love iron gates but not the price. Hoping I can get some inspiration from you guys. This blue was in my kitchen and dh hated it, so I didn't want to waste the paint. Dh thinks I wasted it anyway lol

I like it. Very Blue Man Group!

Boston, MA(Zone 6a)

I love it! Very bright and cheery, and the bug is cute too. :)

Centennial, CO(Zone 5b)

guaranteed to keep away evil spirits ...

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Fly - that brightened my day!

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

I love it! Gotta closeup of the bug?

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

I like it. It will probably "wear down" well, too. My gate looks just like my fence. Blegh. I'll do something about it... after the next 78 projects are done... ;)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Here's the bug, it was on the front of a bird house and the bh rotted. The bug was rusted so I blinged him up a little.

That is precious! I want one!

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I love your gate! The bug is cute too. Very neat idea.

Mableton, GA(Zone 7b)

love it!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks everyone for your nice comments, but I really thinks it's ugly. It needs maybe a cutout with a metal grid, don't know. I love power tools and that jigsaw is calling me. lol

Lumberton, TX(Zone 8b)

It's your gate, fly_girl -- do whatever you want with it. Isn't that a nice feeling? Just be sure and post your results.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

Fly, you have inspired me to paint the entire fence in my back yard. I think I'll do something really funky.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

K, you're crazy! The entire fence?

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I think just the pasture side (with my horse window). But that's at least 50'!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Are you thinking a solid color or a design?

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

A design. Maybe a painted garden with whimsical cats, dogs, bees, butterflies, dragonflies, etc.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

That would look great! You could have a fence painting party, byob...bring your own brush. Of course you would have to feed.

Sugar Land, TX(Zone 9a)

I love to cook and I love to feed a crowd!

Nipomo, CA(Zone 8a)

Fly_Girl,
LOVE the gate!

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks dwer! Do you have a gate?

Does anyone have a gate?

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I wish I did have a pretty gate fly. The only gates I have are the metal ones that go into the pasture. sigh

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

No prob, Dancey, I'll trade my gate for your pasture :)

Midway, TX(Zone 8b)

I don't know. If you could see my burnt up pasture right now you'd probably run the other way. No rain/no grass. Looks like dirt is all that's out there right now. :(

Hi, Fly_Girl -

Your gate is sooo cheery.
It calls you and demands that you come and see
what's on the other side.
Love it, love it, love it.
Thanks for the photo.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Mahnot.....my back yard is on the other side, no pictures of that yet....it's kind of wild back there.

Yorkville, IL(Zone 5b)

I just started this flowebed this year
you enter it through the butterfly gate
And it leads to the birdbath

Yorkville, IL(Zone 5b)

Opps...forgot the picture

Very elegant, very formal. Beautiful.

Yorkville, where the Boy Scouts camp.
Haven't been there for years and years.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Arianesgrandma, very pretty! Looks really nice with the birdbath and the arch. Where did you find that unusual gate?

I knew there was somebody somewhere that had a gate lol

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

Arianesgrandma gorgeous gate......what is growing on the arbor??

flygirl....i hate it when people say this to me.....but you are hard on yourself....i love your entrance way/gate also...very welcoming!!!!

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

flygirl here is mine...but i have cheated doing the vinyl....and the stuff on the arbor is computer generated....i want something to grow SO FAST on that arbor....it is SO white....but in a couple of years hopefully something will be covering it....but not FAST enuf!!!!

Thanks sticks, but I have to disagree lol

I love your picket fence, arbor and gate! That's so cottagy and welcoming.
And those pots in front are very pretty!

Have you decided what you want to grow on the arbor?

Someday I want a white picket fence :)

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

sigh......i would love cottagey roses all over the arbour.....but people want icewater in hades.....my arbor is all shade.....i am praying that a shade rose will one of these years climb up it....zephryne droughn.....(something like that)....but if other zep's that i have planted at a place on the fence that gets 3 hours are any indication ....it is not going to be in my lifetime..(GRIN)any suggestions??....hubby sez no way to trumphet vine....i just want something fast and purdy...

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

I agree...the trumpet would cover the entire arbor, and the fence!

What about Jasmine?
Clematis would be pretty, but it's probably too shady.

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

jasmine just seems like it would take TOO LONG....but i really really want roses:)

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

ps....i am getting so desparate cause of the whiteness that i put hanging plants on either side which is alright....but i wish i could think of something great looking that i could put on it till a 'something' would grow....(i know you understand the thinking....as you are asking the same thing of a lovely gate)

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 8b)

Is there any way you could limb up to get more sun?
Well if you have your mind set on roses.....they have some nice artificial ones at Hobby Lobby.....lol

The jasmine does start slow for a few years.

Maybe you could wind those potato vines up, they grow fast.
