Texas Heat - part 2

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

we just got a tad of rain....sidewalks are just spit upon....but it is cool cause we are having no sun right now....cloudy all morning which was a relief....

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

lolol....GD....dust out of your water faucet? :o Is that possible? lol....

Lord, I just got off of work and ran inside as fast as my skinny legs could take me....its so brutal out there...and here I soaked everything last evening and its all wilted and folded over again.... *sigh* I've got lots of planting and seed germinating to do....but the heat just sort of zaps your energy : /

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

hey txt...what is it that you watered so well and is already wilted?? are they in pots or in the ground....i am just hoping i am watering enuf.....all my stuff seems to be holding the water i am giving.....

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Pretty much everything in the ground is wilted again, sticks....course we have no shade with the sun blazing on everything all day...and hard clay/rock soil....even tho I mulch...it just can't seem to keep the moisture in.... :(

Crosbyton, TX(Zone 7a)

wow....so far everything here is safe but needing water for sure the next day...

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Well....since we're all suffering from this unimaginable heat...I thought I would send a photo that may sort of cool us off a wee bit, lol. Do you guys remember that snow storm that fell over South Texas along the coast in 2004? Well, we were all home for Christmas....and this incredible amount of snow fell during the night....much to our delight! The last time that it had snowed was back in 1974...and it was only about an inch high back then...so when we almost had a foot on the ground...well, it was sheer magic... :) Bailey, the granddog thought so too... :)

That's a rare sight indeed - for that part of the country . . . I remember the snow storm we had here in '85 . . . we had a blast ;)

Thanks for the cool thoughts :)

I can remember working in Houston in the early 70's and it snowed while I was at work one day. I had lived in nothern TX and had seen snow, but some of my younger co-workers hadn't. It hadn't snowed there for 12 years, they went out on the parking lot like a bunch of school kids!
Oops, guess I am telling my age there!

Dallas, TX

I was in Connecticut when I first saw it snow. I was outside with some kids jumping up and down .... their mother came to the door and said "children, children, come inside now!" she was referring to me also ... well heck I was just twenty at that time. LOL

If you were 20 and that was the first time, then you must have been visiting in CT!!

They could dump a truck load of snow here in my yard and before I got my shoes on it would be melted! This heat and humidity has to go!!!!
