It saves me so often.

Pirl, I think I heard it from 4paws. It describes me well, but I couldn't have thought it up. Plus, it's fun to say!

Thanks. It's a real tension breaker in the garden at this time of year.

My dad used to tell us to "sit on the floor and let your feet hang."--Still don't really know what he was going for with that, we just thought he was like all dads--weird:LOL:

I can't remember where I heard this but it applies to alot of stuff people raise a big stink about for nothing..."If that's the worse thing that happens to you(or me) today, you'll be alright." One of those putting things in perspective things.

This was one I heard my dad tell my brother when they were arguing about something stupid... "Don't let your mouth write a check that your a$$ can't cash." Once again we just thought he was weird:)

I've heard or read this phrase at least 7 times in the last week, it's very strange and freaking me out a bit, but the phrase is "It's easier to beg for forgiveness than ask permission." I don't know why it keeps popping up and I actually got chills when I picked up a book I was reading and that phrase was in the book too!

Dmac, I love your Dad's saying!

The rest are good too. I'm still puzzling over the last one tho. Not sure I agree with it. That is pretty spooky!

You're right:LOL: I didn't even know there was a saying for it while I was doing it as a teenager though:) I was just a bit weirded out that that particular phrase had turned up in and around me so often in such a short period of time. I wonder if I'm supposed to act on it somehow? Can't think of anything I need to do that might cause me to have to ask forgivness later (sigh of relief=)

I forgot about the variation on the mouth and check one--Don't let your elephant mouth overload your parakeet a$$.

My cousins had a favorite saying about my mom. They are about 20 years older than me so back when they were kids, my mom used to babysit and round them up for chores. They all hated to clean and would try to get out of it. My cousins started to say that they were doing chores "not by choice, by Joyce." They are all in their 50's and 60's and still laugh about this.
