July 8th Round Up Food #2

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Well, Lisa, I'll just have to bring some pictures for you to see! Now I gotta be there Saturday!

Lake Forest, CA(Zone 10a)

Yes, please do come- I'd love to see the pics!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Ok you got it! I really hate that I have to leave early but appreciate the understanding.

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

Is anyone bringing chocolate chip cookies?

Louise, I'm so happy you're going to be able to come for a little while!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Me too! Shall I still bring the lettuce, onion and tomatoes??? I think Kathleen said she'd bring them if I wasn't coming. Seems like so little but I'm sure I'll think of something else to bring and share.

Crossville, TN

OK...I'm in San Diego with Amy!! Enjoying the lovely weather...although we had to sit on the freeway...8?? an hour due to a wreck on our way in.

Whats the name of these big blue flowers again? Looks like a Lilly with big blue blooms? They seem to be all over town....they have very big bulbs...but I think they need "thinning" out in Amy's yard...maybe some need to go back to AZ with me!! Jo..

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

hiya Jo,

Could the flowers you are seeing all over the place be Agapanthus africanus/ umbelatus? Known commonly as Lily of the Nile.

glad you got to SD safely. Please give Amy a hug from us here.

take care,
don

Lake Forest, CA(Zone 10a)

Yeah, I bet it's Agapanthus too- they sure are exploding this year! I've noticed alot of the nurseries are offering these gorgeous dark dark purple ones- anyone know if they come in a dark purple dwarf version? A full sized one would dwarf my yard!

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

I can bring my famous rum cake (chocolate), but it is strictly for adults and kinda lethal. If that's too much, how about I just bring a super dark chocolate cake? Or would a fresh fruit platter be better?

kanita

Crossville, TN

HMMMM...I think we have enough chocolate...even to satisfy a choloholic like me...fresh fruit sounds mighty good!!

Yep...I do think I was told last yeat that they were LIlyof the Nile...will the do well back in "but it's a dry heat, AZ"?? Jo

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

I didn't see any other chocolate cakes, but I saw someone else is bringing fresh fruit. Hmmm, what should I do?

Columbus, OH(Zone 5b)

I vote for death by cake *LOL*

Crossville, TN

well, if Dovey is up for it...so am I! Jo

Santa Ana, CA(Zone 9b)

Re: Agapanthus

Jo, if you never see them there, I'm betting they don't like it.

~'spin!~

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

kanita,

I think Don/Pam are making some sort of chocolate decadent cake/desert. You might email and ask.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Bought all the hamburgers today and was wondering if there are any veggie burger people, and how many I should get.

Donna

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

I'm/we're making a cake?

Oops, better get started....lol.

Right now, we're aware that we are bringing bottled water and Maggiemoo and Pam are preparing three side dishes, there will be chocolate (lots and lots of it)......but I can't be sure about cake....lol.

best to all, TWO DAYS.......wooohooo!
don

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Do we have potato chips and snacks like that totally covered?

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Don, I wasn't exactly sure what type of chocolate dessert Pam was making. I just remember reading on one of the other threads, that she was supplying the chocolate (something) for all the chocoholics. lol

Kanita,

So far from my list above, I think we have heavy type dips, like artichoke, spinach and guacamole, but I don't think any simple dips were posted. Chips and dips are always welcomed.

Donna

Temecula, CA(Zone 8b)

hiya SoCal,

It will be chocolate.......and decadent....lol. Pam's got the chocoholics covered....lol.

maggiemoo is here!!!!

best,
don

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Donna - I will take care of that then.

Orange, CA(Zone 10b)

Should I bring egg rolls or a tropical fruit cocktail? Both are relatively simple for me to make and can be eaten at room/ranch temperature. Please let me know if anyone has a preference.

Edited to say:

Just read the comment about squid salad and it has me thinking...I can always get some from the Korean deli. I love squid salad.

What to bring, what to bring...

Covina, CA

Quyen, I strongly vote for the egg rolls or squid, especially if you have some good mustard with them.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Oh yum yum Quyen. Either of these items sound good to me also.

So glad you get to attend. :-)

Donna

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Ok, I'm bringing lettuce, tomatoes and onions. Can I bring anything else?????? Homemade wine for Dove, anyone else gonna try it?????

Crossville, TN

I'm game!! ooops...not "game" as in no bath!! LOL Jo

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

LOL roadrunner, white or red wine?

Corona, CA

Okay, I've got lemon brownies, mocha brownies and cream cheese brownies made...wild rice/veggie salad going together today. Looking forward to all the yummy things you guys are making.

Los Angeles, CA(Zone 10a)

Weegy - I would like to try some of your wine.

Lake Forest, CA(Zone 10a)

I'll try a glass Weegy since my TWO chardonnay vines produced ONE bunch of grapes between the two of them this year!

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Ok, I'll bring plenty for you guys, I'm glad you're willing to try it. It's pretty darned good.
Don, is there anything that got forgotten? I will bring anything you want me to. Please let me know if there's ANYTHING.

Covina, CA

Weegy, please put a couple of tablespoons aside for me too, especially since George is doing the driving.

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Will do Ginny!

Crossville, TN

Well...I really like the old "sweet Lucy" type...but have now graduated to a white wine...but...red...white...or Blue...after two glasses I sure wouldn't care! LOL Jo

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Jo, you're right, after 2 glasses you won't know anyway and we never made blue wine so you don't have to worry. Am bringing a Zinfandel, Syrah and a golden Chardonnay. I think you'll like.

Santa Ana, CA(Zone 9b)

My DH will try either the Zin or the Chardonnay -- he finds Syrah too "spicy" (whatever that means in vino-jargon!)! Gosh, I feel like I'm not bringing enough (considering THREE people are coming... although I did triple the tabouli recipe). How about we also bring a bag of chips and a quart of Mayo?

... along with several times more beer than we'll drink!

~'spin!~

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

I'll help you drink the beer spin! It's going to be a warm one and a cold one goes good with that. I feel like I'M not bringing enough. Lettuce, onion, tomato and wine ain't very much. I hope someone will ask me to pick up something else!

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

I think we are going to have plenty of food, so don't worry about bringing anything more. It's going to be hot, and if anyone is like me, I don't eat much when I'm hot. lol

See you tomorrow.
Donna

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

Woo hoo guys, see you tomorrow...it's starting at 10:00, is that correct?

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

YUP!!!!
