I had a nice long chat with Pam and Don yesterday and I think we have most things thought out about the food and a few other things too. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to post them and we will consider them also.
Pam and Don would still like to have the BBQ standards of hamburgers and Hot Dogs as our main course. I will buy the meat again for this, and then we will ask for you to pay a small amount when you check in to get your name tags. I will figure out the amount after I see how many people are actually coming. We would like to have someone bring the fixings for the hamburgers/hot dogs….like buns, lettuce, tomato, onions, relish, mustard, mayonnaise and ketchup. I would also like to ask for a volunteer to work the BBQ. Don will be way too busy talking with everyone ( like last year) to concentrate on this item.
Please remember that it will be very warm in Temucula that day, so if you’re bringing any type of salad with mayonnaise, you might want keep it in a cooler until we actually eat. We will not have any use of the kitchen, so please bring something that doesn’t need to be cooked on site.
I am going to keep a list in the next post of what everyone will be bringing. Please keep in mind to look at it when deciding what to bring so we don’t have too many of one item.
Here again is a reminder of what you will need to bring:
Your side dish
Your own beverage --- Pam and Don will have some water/ice available
Lawn chairs --- They will have chairs and table for eating.
Plants/seeds for trading – optional
Please try to keep this thread to food talk only. If you want to ask questions about that day, go to the original thread that Don started about the RU.
See you all real soon,
Donna

I bring 2 9 x 13 carrot cakes
Hi Donna
Put me in for hamburger buns and a potato salad. What do we think, maybe 100 people if all make it? Is that okay?
Sherry
Rusty, thank you for bringing your wonderful carrot cake again.
Sherry, we won't know how many people until closer to the end of June. Last year there were about 60 people, but Don thinks it might be larger this year. We will keep everyone informed through this thread and the "head count" thread that Frogrus has going.
Donna
So is the tabouli salad a "GO", or is it too much like pasta salad? -- main ingredients are bulgur wheat, parsley, tomatoes... dressed with lemon juice and olive oil.
LMK, ~'spin!~
I'll bring frog leggs, oops, sorry froggy. Ok, seriously now, I will try to get some more of that smoked fish this year.
Mark
Spin....please bring your salad. I know you posted on the other thread, but we are trying to keep things organized on this one.
Mark, I was so hoping you would bring your smoked fish again this year. I absolutely loved it last time. yum yum.
Donna
Hey!! I brought the frogs legs last year but Socal took them all home with her!!
Janice
Hey Blooms, I'd love to have some of your tabouli salad, bring it on!
DH and I will eat it!
Louise,
I wouldn't mind a sip of your hubby's homemade wine :-)
Ok, will bring a few bottles of wine, we have 350 gallons in the garage, do you think there's enough?!?!?!?!?!
We have Syrah, a golden Chardonnay, Cabernet and a Zinfandel.
Let me know your preference!
Wow... That's so cool. I'm a red wine kind of gal....
M and I would like to try our hand at wine one of these days.
Maybe we can pick your hubbie's brain at the round up.
Pick away Dovey! He'll love it!
*ahem* A little White Wine?? Something that goes with CHOCOLATES!!! LOL Jo
Anything goes with chocolate!
weegy....now you're talking! Jo
Okay, how about some Baked Beans, some Salsa and Chips.. from me.
Please let me know what else I can bring, or is needed..
Okay, now I'm getting into the spirit of things.. I've never been to a Roundup..lol
Antoinette,
You will have a blast. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Dove
I'm thinking we're all going to eat real good, hey, who's bringing the chocolate!!!!?!?!?! Getting excited here!
If you don't hear from here much in the next week, got a daughter getting married on the 10th and it's now the final countdown. Wish me luck! I am really excited, 1st of out 5 of my kids to get married, whoopeeee!
1 down 4 to go eh?
Congratulations!
I'm surprised you have had anytime to respond at all... my, my, my you must be working from dawn to dark.
Yup, 1 down and 4 to go, uh, wait, oops, got another daughter getting married next May 12th...yikes almost forgot! Ok, 2 down, 3 to go...
and I wanted 6 kids??? So thankful for the 5 that I have. Anyway, the RU will be a welcome getaway and so looking forward to it.
Would a large container of baked artichoke/cheese/spinach dip with an assortment of veggies and chips for dipping be of interest?
ginny,
Anything you would like to bring, will be eaten!! lol I will put you down for what you have posted.
It will be nice to see you again and I think you will really enjoy this RU.
Donna
I keep trying to get Matt to commit to what he wants to bring...
(He loves to cook and he loves to feed people)
You guys, he wants to dig a hole and roast a pig!
I'm a tad perplexed,
Dove
This message was edited Jun 3, 2006 2:23 PM
We've done that before "roast a pig" underground, but It wasn't me that had to keep turning it and smoking it.. He has to start like at 1 am..lol to be sure that Pork is cooked..
oh..
Congratulations on your daughter's wedding, weegy12...Wait how excited you will be when you have grandkids (we have four...2 boys and 2 girls.
Good for you,
Chuck
Antoinette,
Sometimes my humor is a bit on the dry side.... sorry.
It's more the big production of pit roasting a pig and the general idea that the day should be relaxed and you know... relaxed.
Dovey
Thanks so much Chuck, am looking very forward to grandkids. I will have a bunch with 5 kids!
Dovey, nice shot of the buck!
Well, can't think of anything special I can bring - so I think it will be homemade bread sticks. If nothing else, they are great for sword fights!
Kathleen
We've got the chocolate covered ladies.....lol.
Dove, if Matt wants to come over in the middle of the night to start a pig, I'll dig the hole and we can do sing-a-longs during the wee hours with a lovely Dutch gin and some quinine...and lime of course...
Ice is covered, we'll have a few cases of bottled water and some sodas (sugar free or natural). Pam is making something with a half-ton of chocolate in it, and I'll start drinking early.....lol.
We're considering a couple of rental tents to cover the eating area and some portable mist systems to put around so folks can stay cool. There is lots of shade, but please, please bring sunscreen and hats. This really is getting exciting.
Just can't wait to see old and new friends again and for the first time.
best to all,
don
YIPEE! If Pam is in charge of the chocolates...then I can relax...then there will be Daisyavenue's LUMPY Chocolate Pie....yummy....lumps and all. Jo
Oh Gawd Don... don't encourage him - ACK!
Hi dovey,
so did you all find the Hawaiian bucks yet? lol..
Sounds like fun.
A.
Weeg (if you're reading this! with all that's on your plate!):
My DH would like a glass of your Chardonnay (buttery not oaky? at least that's what 'golden' suggests to me) -- unless the Zinfandel is white zin, and cold...
You really make wine yourself??? Wow, I am impressed.
~'spin!~
Spin, yep, DH makes his wine. We haven't made any in about 3 years now, the garage has 350 gallons so we have no where else to put more. The Chardonnay is good, your DH will like it and I will chill the Zin.
The DD's wedding is Saturday and the countdown is on. I'm surprisingly calm but we'll have to see what Saturday brings. If I owe anyone anything, please remind me, this old brain is a little frazzled right now! I know I'm bring irises and geraniums...did I promise anything else to anyone!? As far as a trade list, I think all I can do right now is the irises and geraniums, I have Epi's if anyone wants a cutting, I have white, and a white night bloomer. Let me know.
