And I'll polish off the evening with a cluster of muscari nestled up to a draba in full bloom. If you like this combo... you might wander over to the Alpine & Rock Garden Forum. There you'll find cute & floriferous beauties of all sorts!

Oh Tammy, the freesia from the big Lowes haul! That's wonderful! All your shots are beautiful; I particulary love that draba with muscari. I've never heard of draba before, it's lovely.

My trillium that I dug from a small woods near us a couple of years ago is coming up. I planted them in between my hostas. By the time the hosta is going good, the trillium is all done. Works out great!

Here are some spring bulbs I took pictures of this evening. First one's a miniature daffodil call 'Golden Bells'.

Iris Bucharica, or Corn Leaf iris. The leaves really do look like corn when they start to come up.

Muscari armeniacum. Common, yet effective in a clump.

Here's Iris Bucharica and Muscari armeniacum along with violas.

Well, these aren't bulbs...but hopefully you won't fault me for posting them. They are looking so springy. The blue ones are cineraria and the white ones are violas.

I should probably explain that my birdbath's upside down because it's been raining like crazy here and I don't want it to get all slimy!

Here's a close-up of the cineraria.

flowerfrenzy, golden bells is so dainty. I love Pipit. First daff I planted in my gardens, (Jan 2006), won't be the last. In fact, have already placed an order w/ B&B.

great pics

Thanks vossner. I like 'Golden Bells' in combination with other things. I don't know if I'd like to grow it all by itself.

I love 'Pipit' as well. It's very distinctive.

Fancy.
Great stuff, Flowefrenzy. (I'm trying out 'Golden Bells alongside the species, it does perform better.)

T. 'Flowerdale.' Excellent and long lasting show, but not the greatest self-division.

Flowerfrenzy - you've whipped me into a frenzy with those pic's! I love the little Golden Bells and Pipet!
And I love Cineraria but I've started it from seed as early in Dec but our heat just melts it right as it is coming
into bloom. I sure don't mind seeing those non-bulb spring lovelies!

Kenton - I am falling in love with frittilaria. I have quite a variety but none are close to bloom yet. And those
tulips are lovely. The species have such charm.

JamesCo~great pictures! I see you have an eye for the unique!

Tammy~I plant my cineraria in the shade. The much prefer it. The sun melts them away here as well.

flowerfrenzy--wanted to say how pretty your iris, muscari, and viola combination is and your pretty red tulip with the 'golden bells'.

And JamesCo I'm beginning to catch your fascination with frits. Thanks for posting the pics...

I visited the Cincinnati "Tulip Mania" exhibit today (a million bulbs blooming this month) and found this planting of early tulips that had interesting coloration...I think they would go well with ivory colored trumpet daffs... maybe you can read the name (I can't. LOL) ...

Thanks, K., I'll have to order some...(just to tempt the deer, I fear, but it might be worth it!).

Good one kb!

Great pics also Kenton, love the frits. Do I see an improvement in photography skills?

Remember several days ago, when I posted the pic of the chionodoxa that came up in a random location? The same random location that the crocus came up in? Well, today, I tried to dig up the chionodoxa, and relocate it with the rest of them that I had planted last fall. I dug and I dug and never did find the bulb. That thing was WAY down there - who knows how much further down it was. Normally, these are just a couple of inches underground.

Besides the crocus and the chionodoxa, one daffodil also came up and bloomed there this spring. Now seriously, I haven't had bulbs in that bed for at least ten years, I figured out today. What I think must have happened is that last fall, when I tore out some of the daisies, and worked up the soil real well, I disturbed those bulbs enough that they 'woke up' from their Rip van Winkle sleep. I can't figure out how else this happened. Yes, a long time ago, I did have these planted there, but like I said, it's been at least ten years since any have come up!

Here is the daffodil that came up in that bed and bloomed. I'm guessing it might be 'Barrett Browning'? What do you think? It measures 3˝ inches across at the widest point.

Excellent, Kylee. What do you plan to do with that "random" area?

Wallaby: It's the flowers, not the "photographer."

Frit. imperialis. Slug's-eye view.

A Narc. that I thought was 'Salomé,' but I don't know for sure.

Come now, Wallaby, where are your pictures? Aren't any later tulips or Narc. daring to bloom?
