Kimas Nursery in Bastrop is the closest nursery around. If you'd like, next time I go grocery shopping, I could stop by and check to see if they have any of those ferns. I have a patch of native ferns in a seep down by the river, but I haven't been down there in ages because there is poison ivy everywhere.
Texas Roundup TRADING LIST
Bettydee, don't put yourself at risk of getting poison ivy just so I can have a fern please. I also would not want you to dig up a fern that was growing among poison ivy. I am highly sensitive to that stuff. Too me it's worse than fire ants, hornets or anything else you can imagine. At the nursery in Kerrville if they could get it, it would be in a 1 gallon pot for about 7 or 8 dollars. I'm too Irish to spend much more than that on a plant.:) If you happen to see a deal like that before the RU that would be great.
Mary Lee
OK--I can't resist this thread much longer.....
Silverflutter-Do you have anymore winecups?
Would also like:
1. LA iris that are not purple or yellow
2. monarda
3. cedar sage
3. any orange tecoma stans (I forget the variety name)
4. mexican flame vine
I have:
1. a bazillion seeds (flowers, natives, herbs, veggies--got any requests?)
2. a live oak and shumard red oak tree for Dave and Trish (or anyone who wants them)
3. Oxblood lillies bulbs: ceejaytown, TARogers5, bettydee, silverflutter
4. other stuff too....make your requests and if I have them I'll dig 'em up!
5. 2 bronze fennels
6. 5 blackberry lilies
7. cigar plant--I can root up a million of these...they root super easy
8. 2 or 3 passiflora moriflolia (white blooms) winter-sowed seeds about 4 inches high--will pot them up bigger for anyone who wants one
Debbie

Ooh - Oxblood lilies! Pretty please!! Throneofyord, silverfluter, and bettydee - gotcha down for cardamom ginger. (I'm gonna be so glad to meet you all and learn some real names!) Silverfluter - I think that is a great idea! One for outside, and one for the greenhouse. Even if it freezes to the ground, I think the outside one should come back, if mulched well.

Dmj12l8 I have a yard full of winecups. I dug some up today. I'll keep diggin' til I run out of pots and or dirt.:) As far as digging them up, I dug some up last year and gave them to Maggiemoo. I guess I should ask her if they did OK. The ones I dug up today don't look too great right now. We'll see if they recover.
I have La iris Almeria. It's mostly kind a hot pink.
Some oxblood lilies would be really great!
Ceejaytown, thanks for the cardamon ginger. I'm looking forward to that!
TaRogers, I have what I think are called Aztec Gold daylilies. They are atleast 2 feet tall, very hardy, make proliferations like crazy and bloom for a long time.
Some of your lyre leaf sage and cedar sage would be much appreciated.
I have German bearded iris. Don't know the name, but they are lavender and purple and about 2 " tall.
And the excitement keeps building!

Thanks Bob. Can I bring you anything? Or did you already tell me?
LindaTX8, I have some zinnia seedlings, would you like some? (I had no idea they take so long to get to the blooming stage, next year I'll start much earlier!)
Silverfluter, no need to go out of your way, I have Iris and waterlilies to spare. If you have any of the following looking for a new home though, consider me.
hybiscus is a delight, just about any Malvaceae makes me smile. Fruit, nuts and berries are always welcome, and I am quite clearly insane when it comes to Sambucus and Edible Alliums. I am currently searching for Sambucus Mexicana, Perlwetzel, Texas Native Bear Garlic (Neeps), Beltsville Bunching Onion, Perpetual Leek, and of course eternal youth.
Bob
Bob, I'd like some of that eternal youth, too!
I have a tough, resilient vining groundcover that is drought tolerant, cold tolerant, doesn't even flinch at our heat, grows in sun or shade, small white flowers in spring. Leaves of three..... Any takers?
:-)
Bob I'll put you down for a star hibiscus, Red zinger, and October rose. I have lots of what I call chives. They are quite large for chives though. Maybe you can give me a better id on them. I'll bring you some. I keep looking for those eternal youth seeds, but they always seem to scatter when I'm not looking.LOL
maggiemoo, I'd like a few seedlings--at least you got them started, I didn't start any! Would you like anything in trade?
throneofyard, that sounds okay! dmj, I'll save you one.
silverfluter, will save the 2 sages for you (I assume you mean mine?). BTW, I've had the winecups wilt a while when dug up...they have a carrot root (if you mean C. involucrata).

Patrob, I would like some of your Salvia Penstemonoides,
What would you like to have from my list?
Josephine.
Josephine....on bended knee; may I lay claim to the desert willow? I'll pick you up some perlite...if you've got a few months to wait I can root you all the beautyberry you want...my bush (one of them) is over the top of the one story house.
Debbie
Bob what do you want? Thanks!
This message was edited Apr 10, 2006 6:31 PM
Josephine,
I have native American Beautyberry. I can dig up the number you want. In trade, I would like a rough-leafed Dogwood.
Add to Trade List I also have Cedar Elm seedlings and Hop Tree seedlings to trade.
Veronica

LindaTx8, yes thanks. I did mean yours.
Josephine, I may have a rough leaf dogwood for you. We have one and it's making babies all around it. I'll go out and look tomorrow morning. I may also have a kidney wood for you. We have one, but I think Tom would rather not have it. It might be too close to the grapevines. Those are tough trees BTW. He had to move it once so he could plant the grapes. It wasn't dormant when he moved it and we didn't think to give it much attention after he moved it. It adapted and recovered just fine. Oops I just realized you have rough leaf dogwood for trade. Never mind.:)
Mary Lee

Well, I spoke too soon. DH does want to keep the kidney wood tree. Sorry.
Mary Lee
Veronica, the Roughleaf Dogwood, is yours. I will take the American Beautyberry.
This message was edited Apr 10, 2006 7:23 PM
LindaTx8, yea most of those winecups are still pretty droopy. There one or two that's perkin' up a little.
Mary Lee
Is it just me, or does anybody else have a mental picture of plants flying through the air when they read this thread. I just have this picture of all these people from all over Texas and maybe parts beyond, standing out in their yards with all plants around them. Suddenly a plant will take off into the blue because it's been called by somebody that wants it. I think this must have been a dream I had last night. I have been known to have some fairly strange dreams. Please don't send any men in white coats with straight jackets.:)
Mary Lee
I'm just wondering how I'm gonna recognize folks....I guess I'll renew my subscription to the "psychic-hotline".
Debbie
Jo (Roadrunner) and I are making nametags. Save your money for more plants! LOL :-)
Look up folks--have added a few more things
dmj1218, what color are the blackberry lilies?
Mary Lee
I'm adding candy lilies to my haves list.
Mary Lee
Oh, I've got toad tadpoles that I can catch & bring if anyone would like some.
Mary Lee--they are orange, in Dave's files. What color are the candy lillies? If they do good for you; I'll take one.
They are very hardy here. I had them about 2 feet from one of my roses, so it did get sort of watered about every 2 weeks. I don't know if they really need that much water or not. It did get a lot of sun. They multiply fairly quickly. They were orange, and they are your if you like. I think I'll pass on your blackberry lilies though, but thanks anyway.:) Orange is not my favorite color. I didn't realize candy lilies were orange when I planted them.
Mary Lee
Maggiemoo, I was getting excited about your groundcover until I got to the "leaves of three" part. LOLOL!!
Lol, I wondered if anyone would catch on. :-)
Maggiemoo, well it got past me.:)
It didn't get past me, we have plenty of Poison Ivy at the Wildscape, so I am well aware.
Josephine.
So, I guess this means... no takers for the poison ivy?
:-)
