I tried to copy/paste your link - no dice. MSN doesn't have albums or are they $
Coffee Kart 3-13-2006
I think it's the number of hits, not pics.
I've peen linking pics all over the place.
Andy P
You do get around now don't you.
I haven't really uploaded a lot. I still just put them all on a disc.
I also have a lot in my diary here.
I;ll go to PhotoLocker tomorrow. They are pretty much the same as PhotoBucket. If I divide my pics between them (and not get lost) I'll be OK.
I don't have a write disk.
O NO!
I have some on the hard drive, but not many. So all yours are out in cyberspace.
Not all of them, only the ones I want to post on sites.
DG lets you upload from your own PC, lots of sites want a URL.
I'm going to sign them from now on, though. It's a quick thing to do.
Andy P
I think Al is right Andy - most sites that are free also have the right to use your photos - read the fine print.
I got a pot on for everyone.
Al is right
I really should be in politics
Andy - you might be able to also get an external drive to hook up cheaply to save photos on. I don't know about the price - the computer end of it is easy.
Megan - I start my dahlias and canna in pots with potting soil about 6 weeks before they can go outside - roughly 4/1 for me. I put quite a few into each pot and label them. I use those same pots for annuals after the dahlias come out of them, you could use shallower pots if wanted - I would think anything over 8" deep would be good. I start mine on my porch which is 50-60d on average then. You could have them under lights or in a sunny spot also, but if you had them in the house I would harden them off before planting in a garage or somewhere similar.
DENA! - are you on spring break with the other 30something kids
no Al,
I'm sick, I got that nasty stomch bug, my kids have been sick with it all week, guess its just my turn.
Hi all, hope you stay healthy, this thing is awful!!!
GREN, Get well soon.
An external hard drive is on my list.
I don't have trouble saving pics on my PC, I just need a site for the URL addy. It makes posting pics so much easier.
At this point I'm not too concerned about someone else using my pics, maybe it's my 'Live for today' attitude. As long as I can have fun with them, I'm happy.
I know that nothing in life is really 'free'.
I have less than 100 pics on PhotoBucket, it must be the frequent hits on my links that caused the alert.
I just signed up with PhotoLocker. All new pics will have my 'mark'.
Andy P
Feel better Dena.
I've been up and at 'em since 7am...worked for a couple of hours on the new side job and then went out to do some gardening/clean up. I lasted about ½ hour and then I couldn't feel my fingers anymore so I decided to come in. I think I'll pot up my dahlia's and EE's too.
Have you ever potted up Gladiolus early?
Anita,
No I haven't - they used to start well enough on there own in storage. I actually let mine stay outside now - they were just too floppy .
This is a test...

Andy P
This is another test.

Much better.
"Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain"
Andy P
to the man behind the curtain, the Crocus are very pretty.
To the man behind the curtain..how come they are not green?? Isn't everything in the Emerald City that color?
Wise guy, eh?
The leaves are sorta green.
Anita, do you know how to get the "©" symbol onto my pics next to my name?
Andy P
That's me - a real wizenhymer!!!
As for the copyright symbol..do you have a photo editing program that allows you to put text on your pics? If so just paste it into the text field. The same way you just put in your post.
I tried that with PhotoShop but it didn't work. When I put my name on that last pic.
I'll try again.
Andy P
OK I figured out my problem. I like the "Loki Cola" font, but it only supports Alpha, no numbers or special characters. What I have to do is switch between fonts to get the ©.
Thanks Anita.
Andy P
excellent - glad it worked. I thought of you Andy - I cut some Forsythia and brought it in to force. Hopefully, I'll have blooms in a couple of weeks. I wish I had more of a variety. Next year - I plan on putting in a lilac bush this spring.
Anyone have any suggestions of what kind? I don't want a monster, but I do want lot's of wonderful fragrance.
Small lilac is a relative term, Dwarf Korean is a 'small' one, I like Miss Kim also - both of those I guess you could keep under 6'. I really like the cutleaf lilac , but they don't have a lot of flowers.

Thanks for the scoop on potting Al and excellent point on hardening them off. I for sure would have forgotten to do it.
Anita - The yellow or pink ones are kind of cool too, but I don't know much about them. I have some white and purps here, but no idea what kind either. They were at a grocery store for like 7.00 and I grabbed 4 last year. I wish the garden centers would get more unusual varieties instead of the same old, same old all the time. Can't wait to hear what folks recommend for you.
Megan
Yes - I've been eyeing the Dwarf Korean's..I like that fact that they don't grow as tall as the more traditional. The spot I have in mind would probably appreciate the smaller size. The Persian's are also pretty. I wonder if they are as fragrant as the vulgaris?
I can't wait! What do you do with all your sunflower seed, Al?
Hello everybody!. It took me a while to catch up on the week on this thread. Dena, I hope you & the kids are feeling better. My little guy had the stomach bug in the middle of our vacation and left his mark on Disney/MGM Studios!
I flew into Hartford tonight, in shorts and it was about 30 degrees out. Thought you guys would have warmed the place up for my return.
Hi Meg! Glad you've dropped by!
Well in spite of Danny losing 2 days to the stomach bug, we had a great time. The weather was perfect, our house was great and there were long periods of time when our 13 yr. old daughter forgot she was a teenager.
I left last Saturday to see my first crocuses blooming by my mailbox. Can't wait to check out my yard tomorrow.
Dave(here again)
Hi Dave - welcome back, any pictures?
Anita - varmints eat most of the sunflowers, I don't have any personal experience with the persian lilacs.
Yes, Dave - pictures?? What did you bring us??
I went out to fill the bird feed and even though it's georgeous out...brrrrr And here I thought I'd get some yard work done!! Oh well. Good excuse to clean the house. I still have to pot up the dahlias. Have to do some posting as well [that's the side job].
Anita, What kind of posting?
Hey Al! Good to be back in touch.
I have pictures!! Now I must find out how to get them from the camera to DG. This will require a tutorial from my wife (But its Sunday afternoon, approaching 2:00 pm, we are Italian Americans, so it can only mean 1 thing: PASTA TIME!!! )
Then Uconn men and women both have tourneyment games today, so I'll be busy. Being in FL for a week of the NCAA tourneyment reinforced one thing. Outside of CT (& Tenn., I assume) you can't get coverage of women's basketball. Makes me proud of how much attention they get here in CT. Uh oh! I'm boring people with sports.
Back later.
Well, I potted up some canna, dahlia and elephant ear and put them under lights in the basement. Unfortunately, I think I need another setup!! I got the wall-o-water I saw at the Gardener's Supply. I'm wondering if I should plant a few tomato seed in the house? I did a few in wintersowing. Then anything that sprouts will go out in the wall-o-water in April. I think I might order myself a cold frame too. One of the ones that folds up flat when not in use. http://www.littlegreenhouse.com/flowerhouse-starter.shtml I've seen them in a few places. I just need to price shop now.
Dave- I post the insurance money for a medical office to their software program. They submit claims for the patients they see to the insurance company. When the insurance pays, they pack the explanation of benefits together and I pick them up once or twice a week. I can remote access their computer.
If you have a digital camera, it should have come with cables that will allow you to upload the pictures. If it is a film camera then have them give you a cd with the pictures on them when you have the film developed.

Hi Dave, thank you for the welcome and I guess welcome back is in order for you too... so welcome back. I hope you post some sunny pictures. :)
Anita - I checked that link and it is very similar to the cold frame I got a couple weeks ago at Job Lot for 24.99. The only differences I could see were that instead of 2 zippered compartments to put plants inside, there is only one large one. Also, there are 2 small velcro "windows" for lack of a better definition, on the top 2 ends which can be opened for additional air circulation. It comes with stakes and metal poles and easy directions. Took me about 10 minutes to put together and that is with the girls picking parts up, moving them around and climbing inside it. I couldn't see the price on yours, so I'm not sure if it is worth checking into Job Lots.
Al - I love sunflower seeds. I get a bag at Walmart every single week and the kids and I snack on them. Maybe with all the sunflowers we are growing this year we can try to collect some. The girls would probably go over the moon with that little project.
I forgot to remind that Spring is tomorrow and daylights savings time in 2 more weeks. Not much longer now and we'll be enjoying our gardens again!!!!!!!
I have about a dozen daffs up & 1/2 dozen crocus. Hellebore is about to pop with 6 buds. Kinda makes the wintery weather bearable. I gardened for at least 10 minutes before running back into the house. Its cold! And I'm out of practice.
Hey I actually got out and started taking some boughs off today. There is some green under there. I don't have much for early bulbs though.
Dave - WI didn't have much for decent teams in the madness this year so I'm not really following it, I watch the last few games.
Remember yesterday when I was wondering about my PhotoBucket account? I got an E-mail that I was 'close to overflowing my bucket'. I e-mailed them asking what that was all about..
In the meantime I opened a new account at one of their competitors site. (Found a nice photo discussion forum there too.)
Today I got a response from PhotoBucket, saying the e-mail was just a quarterly letter to upgrade my service. Sure didn't look like that to me.
Nothing is free.
When is the warm weather coming back? ? ? ? ?
It was warmer in January than it is now. grumble
Andy P
Andy, true but it was also colder in Nov. than it is now. Go figure!
But it does seem that the overall degree days vary very little year to year (ie. if you get a warm January, you pay for it!)
Al, What about Wisc.-Milwaukee's excellent upset of Oklahoma??
