you'd have to pay me to go away...
Coffee Kart 3-13-2006
Pay to keep - Pay to rid - I guess that means I've got friends since that negates out!
I say we all head over to Anita's and get some of that corn beef and cabbage.
I like the corned beef but HATE cooked cabbage. Count me out.....
Just the smell of cooking cabbage makes me .... you don't want to know.
Fortunately, I'm not Irish.
Andy P
I'm gonna have to get mine to go, I'm heading over to Dena's to watch her seeds - her seedcam link is down :(
have you ever looked at the seeds in the spice bottles (dill, fennel, poppy, anise) and wonder if they would grow if you stuck them in the dirt?
They are $.88 at Job Lot, I couldn't help myself...I had to know!
Pottles=bottles, had to edit that one...
Fennel

Good for you for trying that out. That was such a great idea, I'm gonna have to try that out too. We did buy their little kitchen herb kit for 2.99 and it is great. You do have to transplant from the little terra cotta pots, but they work good in the kitchen window and I keep my 2 aloe plants there, so it's not like there is a ton of light there. Those .88 spices are awesome too, lol.
I was standing in front of them cooking and I thought, wow, thats alot of seeds for $.88, wonder if they would grow...they do! I wonder what the poppy seeds would do out in the garden...what kind of poppy is it? Do you know?
nope I don't... but it sounds like another experiment is in the works.
Ain't it!
nothing like a good wonder bout somthin!
I wish I had remembered to water the ones I started, I would know sooner...
hmmm..I figured they'd be too old. That's cool. Then again wasn't there some seed that was like 1000 years old in Egypt that they got to sprout?
very purty
My morning glories are sprouting! I wintersowed them! Yours are really pretty
This year I am trying cypress vine on my fence. I have had morning glories, cathederal bells, moonflower and cardinal climber before.
give the mg's about twice as much room as you think ;)
I never knew the term for that! They are neat.
I did my rounds today. So many bulbs are up. The ones in bloom include crocus, Windflowers, Winter Aconite, Katharine Hodgkin Iris and dwarf Iris.
The Robins are flocking - I think they are taking over!! I should send this idea to Stephen King. Speaking of which, if anyone likes his work, 'Cell' is his latest and very good!!
Sure Andy - just sit on the sidelines and talk about how nobody is doing anything - I see how you work.
Hey Megan - my stores have dahlias now - I went and checked them all out today.
Anita - I'm glad my Robin army made it there finally!
**it's all falling in to place now**
Dena - no news for you
I had this long diatribe back at you Al. Have you ever tried to type with one hand and play 'tug o war' with the dog with the other hand? You tend to hit the wrong keys. PUFF it was gone.
Maybe it was a "SIGN". Maybe not.
Andy P
You can pick on me I don't care :)~
Those sun dogs must be winning the battle huh?
Dena - I did get in to HD today - sorry I somehow got you fired ;(
I had an odd day at work, not bad just odd.
I had to see my tax man this afternoon, too. Not too bad.
I'm working, that's good.
I spoke to the contractor who is building the houses next door. He says he has a lot of 'River Birch' trees, in clumps. All of mine are dead (Paper Birch). It's complicated but I might wind up with a few 15 - 20 foot clumps planted on the property line. That's pretty good.
Andy P
River Birch are nice - what is the pH in your area?
I love the look of Birch trees. I also love the sound of the wind blowing through the trees.
Keep bringing up the rear Andy - good job! I'll let Dave know, he'll be proud of you!
I've been so busy lately. I just started a second job that I can do from home. Bad part is that I have to get myself into that routine again. The extra money will be nice.
Anway - the coffee's good. I made it stronger today - it should give you a nice kick start
Did you get any of those Dahlias Al?
I love birch trees too. I considered putting some in the front yard at the street, but decided to put in gardens instead. There is a house around the corner from here and the guy must have hundreds of birch trees on the property. It looks so pretty.
I just started our corned beef. I like it to simmer for 5-6 hours to get it nice and soft, you can cut it with a spoon. I'm not going to mention the c word cabb###e because you hate it so much Andy. But I will say the veggies are peeled so it doesn't need to be done later today.
Margaret,
I only picked up 4 dahlias, that's pretty good.
I also picked up one more zinnia, the big white one - I think I am up to about 10 varieties for this year now. I did pick up a few more pots to put them in though.
LOL, Al, are you talking to me?? Where does it have Margaret? Cuz that is my family name, but no one has ever called me that in my life so it cracked me up. All the other Margarets got nicknamed Peggy except my Mom liked "MEG" from Little Woman and I ended up as Megan. Funny too because I found Meg in that novel too "weak spirited" and I always like Jo better cuz she had fun. I just used Margaret to sign up on DG and for my AOL and other accounts and things. I'm so glad too because I don't like the name Peggy for me. No offense to anyone named Peg.
You'll have to remind which link you talk about potting up your dahlias and how many you put in etc. I'd like to try that too.
Megan
Meg,
your sase that is laying around in my garage says Margaret on it )~
Never sure how Margaret got to be Peg either, Maggie sure.
I'll write up what I do for starting dahlias here later.
I did go buy a few more today, hey why not - the price won't drop for 3 months on them.
Alan
Megan, You can say the 'cabbage' word but don't ask me to be anywhere near it when it's cooking. I like raw cabbage.
Cabbage, Brussel Sprouts and Okra are the only veggies I don't like. (Cooked)
Andy P
OK I have to list these all to prove to myself I have enough.
These are the zinnias I have for this year:
Purity
Carousel
Violet Queen
Swirls
Uproar Rose
Chippendale Daisy
Old Mexico
Envy
Zowie
(reminding Anita I pull in 5 figures a year)
I think that's enough
Sure Al - keep rubbing it in..I know you roll around in all that money every night!!! Cute pic - a chip off the ol' block, eh?
I love white cabbage. My family is into red cabbage. I like the way my Aunt makes it, but it's heart atttack cabbage - she makes it with bacon fat!
Al, Cute kid, does he get his hair from dad?
I just got a notice from PhotoBucket saying I near my limit for free service. What other photo sites are good? I don't want to pay anything, free, free is what I want.
Andy P
He is too cute Al, he really is... just love the hair, lol.
Wow Anita, old fashioned down home cooking with your Auntie. Interesting method, never heard of it here. Enjoy her, she sounds like a real doll.
Andy,
I go out with smurfette once and look what happens.
Photos - I don't know , can you put some in an album with your ISP?
I have albums in Yahoo and a few with Frappr, but I'm not sure about copyright protection on them. My pics are so valuable I don't want to give them away.
Being partly Irish we ate at Tac O' Bell tonight.
Andy P
http://www.frappr.com/?a=myphotos
sort of a myspace site
this one is NICE, I was researching my mystery grass(varigated miscanthus - 99% sure) and saw this one.

THIS IS A TEST
That didn't work.
It's not even the right pic.
arhhh
How many pics you get in there. I just got a PB link from Poochie and she has like 300pics in it.
I'll try another site tomorrow, I'm tired.
Later.
