I think our whole community is one big rain garden... the builder used an incredibly convoluted grading scheme, and while there wasn't supposed to be standing water anywhere, I have a couple of places where water will sit for several days.... We planted willows, LOL

The blank slate is coming together really well....in the back yard. Thanks, critter! I can't seem to find a groundcover that stays short enough that isn't seasonal. I'm still trying to sort out style. I tend to like more plants with a definite structure rather than all wild. But I don't like a "staged" look either. I'm not helping.....

I sent a couple of queries about using the chat room during the Sweethearts' Tea (on the 11th), either by officially opening it or by permitting us to use the back door, and I never got any response. There were a bunch of server problems during that time as things were being moved around, so I figured it wasn't feasible, and Kimberly set one up on her home server instead.

WhooooHooooo I finally made it!!! Pepsi and cocoa don't mix too well going to have to drink one or the other.. LOL

I'ts good with captain morgans and eggnog capped with fresh nutmeg.Never tried it with hot chocolate tho...

McG, please put some more information on your thread about the sort of garden style you like, any particular types of plants that interest you, and how much sun/wind/rain you get in your front yard. I'll mark it to watch, and maybe I can toss a couple of ideas at you...

Hi all, just thought I would pop in and say HI. I am back from SC. Cried that I had to come back here. Spent way to many hours in the airports, very little sleep and the fact that I was looking for excuses to stay sure didn't help any. Hope all are doing okay.

I wish I could have made it in for that, Jill. I had company coming that weekend - or at least they SAID they were coming that weekend. It serves me right for talking to the guy (DH's brother)! Carl told me they were coming in town on Friday night or Saturday and they were going to stay with us Sunday night and Monday night. I assumed that they were going to stay with their sister before then. So all day Friday I was doing detail cleaning - dusting the bookshelves and rearranging the knick-knacks.. Cleaning out the stuff cabinets in the kitchen so nothing would fall out on someone's head should they be unwise enough to open one of them.. Doing laundry and dumping it on the bed... After the kids went to bed I was going to clean the kitchen, do all the dishes, mop the floor, and then put the laundry away. On Saturday I was going to finish the laundry (which was sorted in piles all over our bedroom floor) and do the living room and bathrooms. I had it all planned!

You can just imagine the look on my face when the doorbell rang at 8:45 pm Friday night and I opened it to Carl saying, "We're here!!!" Aaaaaahhh!!! LOLOL

It would have to be Sat afternoon, after Jenna gets done. Unless you do poolside sales on Friday night?

Well, Carl is otherwise a REALLY nice guy and they were very apologetic, all is forgiven. I'm just embarrassed that they saw what we REALLY live like. :-P Debbie came in the bedroom and helped me fold the clothes on the bed and went through a basket of clothes my bunnies have grown out of. Their kids walked into the living room, saw the toys scattered everywhere and felt right at home. LOL

They stayed in our room, so I was glad that it was fairly neat besides the laundry. I just changed the sheets and cleaned the bathroom really fast. I've never been so thankful for a small master bath, let me tell you!!

Moby, where are you staying? Do they have a pool? Kids requested pool, can't you tell? (Not like I'm arguing with them or anything,lol)

Well, here you all are. . .had a sneaking suspicion when all I got was a blank screen. Just wanted to say hi and see if we'll get another session later. . . ?????

I love the Olympics.. It's so much fun watching athletes like that cross-country skier from Kenya. Have you ever seen a bigger smile? :-)
