we get most of our snow pack in the next 2 months in Kalispell. I hope we get a lot. Spring shouldn't come until April. A couple of drought years started in the 70 s F in early April. Please not this year! I want snow snow snow! We have had a perfect Winter Sun Snow Rain Sun......
I'm almost afraid to ask....... How are you Easterner's doing? Pics on the weather channel are showing that some are running out of places to put all the snow.
The great lakes need lots of snow to fill them back up after the years of drought. The St Lawrence will look good this spring.
well you snow gods seem to have finally chanted enuf that we got it. I have to SHOVEL this morning before heading to the farm. I'm not sure i know where the shovel is!!!
My part of southern Ontario had no winter to speak of at all until Feb. 4th when we did receive a bunch of snow in one dump. Since then it's flurried (if that's a word) on and off but there has been lots and lots of sun. Some areas have had snow squalls off the lakes but they are very localized, not wide spread. All in all it's been a pretty easy winter so far for us.
You can really feel the warmth in the sun now and spring is only 26 days away!
Well it started to snow a few hours ago and is still coming down steadily. I was supposed to go to a friends to watch video of my agility runs this weekend but probably best to stay of the roads. Dont know how much we are supposed to get but I will definitely have to shovel!
You could agilely walk to your friends house to see the video. LOL It is good to hear the snow pack for Washington is building up there in Canada. I hope it is dumping in Kalispell too. I'm headed home to Ski. OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY!!
In Kalispell the same is true at Big Mountain just 30minutes away. I just like the powder between the trees and when its snowing there is a lot of places to do that. Few people go out in them so I get to cut my own powder trail. Keep snowing
It has almost stopped snowing - guess I will have to go shovel again! Weather report said 5-10 cms expected. And flurries over the next 2-3 days. Not too cold. I stayed in all day - maybe will take the dogs for another walk when I go out to shovel.
Just looked at the big mountain cam and they have 5" today and 20" over the last week. It is going to be fun. OH BOY. though it is very pleasant 31 F and Sun here in Kodiak.
fancyvan that is beautiful snow. Though I think your cherub has quite a cone-head. Also I'm glad you Canadian have morals and clothe you naked statues. We just break them off here. Poor Venus Di Milo.
Awesome! Though I'm concerned what those birds in Canada have in their back packs. No border control for us yanks. HaHa
fancy, I'll bite... fer heavens sake are those R*E*A*L birds? sure look like real feet. ~Blooms
Geeze Bloom do you think real birds are democrats and sit all day. HaHa.
I had to look at that pic several times myself and thought maybe they were frozen birdies, lol.
Cool pics fancy!
ROFL at myself... I'm easily amused which is a blessing.
Great pics anyway, specially liked the hatted globe thistle.
"spring is a comin' on"
February is a month that always disappoints,
we should skip straight to March.... which can also be fickle.
Now I see they are purple Martins.
Fancyvan,
Calgary sounds hard to deal with. My daughter was born there, when do you start your seeds? What is average last frost? I didn't start my quest for a green thumb until I moved to NC.
bkmah
Congratulations Fancy it looks wonderful!!! I love your bird pics too!
bkmah:
I dont bother about seed starting. Last frost can be anywhere between early May to mid June! First frost can happen as early as August but usually Sept/October some time. Rule of thumb here is dont plant out annuals until after 24th of May (holiday) weekend. I forget the number of days but we have one of the shortest growing seasons in Canada.Which means there is a big market for annual plants ( I have mostly perennials) and even some types of veggies. Because I dont start my own plants I always buy started tomatoes, cauliflower, cabbage and when I buy veggie seed I always look for the variety with the shortest growing season.Short season is not the only challenge we also have winter chinooks when everything warms up for a few days and then freezes again - can do a lot of damage to trees and shrubs, In winters like this without much snow cover I always lose a few perennials.
Light snow and sleet here in Sidney today!!!!
Glenda
Started snowing again about 3pm and still coming down but not heavy. 10 cms yesterday - a few more cms tonite apparently.
Not too cold fortunately.
NOT FAIR!!!!! :'( This whole country is getting it except my little corner of the world.
Just think - you don't have to shovel it.
Great pictures Carol
Ahhhhhhh We have been blessed all day with BIG flakes drifting down lightly all across Kodiak. I had a slow day and sat on my computer planning my HGTV program and got to look out the window at the spelendor! Thank you God.
Moose Jaw got about an inch of snow while I was incarcerated. :) More was supposed to fall but hasn't :( come yet.
