With rugs on top of them to keep your feet warm in the winter.
Glad you're better Dave
Ok, I confess. I'm the only person on the planet who hasn't read or seen Harry Potter. But, I do know about Brangelina--can't avoid them if you shop at supermarkets.
Sofonisba,
I saw some Gentileschi paintings (father's and daughter's) at the Metropolitan Museum a year or so ago (I lose track of time). I liked them--I love Renassaince paintings--all those beautiful, rich colors. Your job designing carpets sounds really nice, too.
Our carpets are usually 100% wool, unless you want something fancy like silk. When you walk into the showroom, you can smell the lanolin in the rugs. No icky formaldehyde there.
Loretta, I have a worse confession. Saw the movies, read 1 book. I can't stand Harry Potter. (gulp)
Yeah, Gentileschi was a father - daughter thing. She was lucky to have been allowed to paint at all, but she did brilliant work.
I'm back!
Harper, nice rug! Too bad about you and Harry.
I agree, Dave47, it's too bad Harry rubbed Sofonisba the wrong way . . .
lorettamar - glad to have another So'holder here in wishing Dave a speedy recovery, which doesn't seem likely since it has been 15 months now.
I'm not a Harry Potter fan either so Harper has company on that one.
Are we all enjoying the early morning fog in the Northeast? Probably not poor Dave.
Morning all. I have not read the books but I love the movies. A masseuse rubbed me the wrong way once.
Victor, did you ask her to keep doing it until she got it right?
I love the movies but haven't read the books to my 2 DGD's dismay. Now that I'm retiring I will have to get back to reading. I used to devour books the way the DGD's and my DS does, but somehow I got away from reading. I'd like to blame it one the computer, but I used to do both.
Harper, what a wonderful career! there are so many things to do with artistic talent that one never would think of. When you can post some of your own designs I would love to see them.
gram, same problem here. Ashamed that I have gotten away from reading. Hope to change that. On the masseuse - how'd you guess??!
You people are certifiably crazy!!!! :) I was born and raised in New England, but this could be why I moved away. I think you got too much snow and cold this winter, that's what it is....;)
Kathy
We're crazy but you're 'somewhere over the rainbow'!! Hmm. There's no place like home, there's no place like home...
Kathy can't hear you, Victor. She and Toto have gone for a spin.
I'd rather be certifiably nuts than sane. Nuts is much better.
Thanks Pirl for speaking up about not liking Harry Potter. Dave, MY Harry and I get along quite well. I have a life size skeleton named Harry. He's great company. A laugh a minute. How are you feeling this morning? Any better?
Sure Gram! When I find the time to get some art off my old computer, I'll post something.
Did you guys hear about that tornado last week in Kansas that flattened a whole town? Yikes!
My great-great grandfather left Scotland for Kansas in the 1860s. He stayed 4 years, then moved to Ontario. I wonder what drove him north to Canada . . . .
Hi, Pirl, And, oh, yes, please get well Dave.
Harper: Just in on a little break and first read your post as the "tomato" that flattened a town in Kansas. Better get back outside again. Maybe the fresh air will do me good.
Dave: feeling any better today?
Ahhh, ha ha ha ha!!!! That's too good. Better! We should make a movie about that tomato. He he he .....
Yup. Fresh air should help... well, maybe you've had too much. Are you planting tomatoes this year?
He he he... still laughing....
Seandor, Hmmmm, I wonder....
Help! Help! I am dying of tedium! I am marking exams . . . sigh . . . and I would rather be playing in the dirt. Gosh - I can hardly keep my eyes open.
Send pictures of lovely flowers to inspire to persevere and get these grades in today!
I have dirty hands, broken nails, I'm weary, burnt and exhausted. I'd rather grade papers.
I take it you've been in the garden, pirl?? I went hiking with my group. Was a tough hike and was too hot / humid. Had intended to plant the gazillion annuals that arrived yesterday but all I could do was unpack them. To rub salt, a huge perennial / shrub order arrived today!
Victor, It looked like you were getting some thunderstorms today....my family all lives in Berkshire County, MA (Pittsfield, North Adams, Hinsdale, Becket) and I know they were about to get hammered. Of course it was 89 here today and I did just get done planting a lot of tomatoes :)
And my somewhere over the rainbow is a little town called Andyville, Kentucky.
Getting the plants in before the storm that's coming our way, hits us.
I love this thread....makes me feel like I'm home. Seandor, you're not far from my home.....
Kathy
You go hiking on the day CZJ arrives in Stony Point to see you?!!!
Misty, we're in store for them tonight / tomorrow. Was warm and humid today. You're always welcome here Kathy!
Pirl, was she here?? Thought I sensed goddess aura when I got home. Man, I can't win.
If it makes you feel any better she said the same thing.
Hopefully she mentioned a god, not a goddess.
No. Unfotunately Victor, your aura is pure goddess.
You're always sick - what do you know??
She ended up going to see Rosie O'Donnell. She said they had something in common.
Now you've gone and ruined it for me, pirl. I'll never think of her in the same way again. Thanks a lot!
Dave, you questioning my mojo?? How about garden forks at ten paces?
Michael Douglas told me to tell you that!
You can't challenge Dave with garden forks! He's just not up to it.
When will he be up to forks - or what fork will he be up to??
I would never offend your mojo, Victor! But I am beginning to wonder who is more stuck on CZJ, you or Pirl?
I was beginning to wonder that myself!
What's mojo? (giggle)
Holy cow! I'm gone for a few days you guys fly over the cuckoo nest! That being said, I'd like to be Jeannie, Samantha Stevens and not be called late for dinner!
Sorry, Dave, but I liked the old trio of Marilyn Monroe, Elvis and Jimmy Dean. Victor seems to fantasize a lot - maybe too many superhero toys in his youth?
No, not too much. Just a few. Actually I was never into pretend play as a kid. Now as an adult...Hee hee. Speaking of the beauties of the past, I like Claudia Cardinale, Sophia, Natalie Wood, Ava Gardner, Linda Darnell, Barbara Stanwyck, Maureen O'Hara, Rita Hayworth. There are more I'm not remembering.
