It was either sit on my hands or get snarky, and we all know how I try to avoid that.

Dave does look pretty good in that hat, doesn't he?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

You can't go to Rockford, Al?? Just 'cuz it is in THAT state down south, or I-90 just pulls you on towards Chicago or... ? LOL

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

I'm wondering about that too Al. Is it a personal choice or a legal one?

(I'm not sure the statute of limitations has run out for me to return to Shelbyville, MO. But we won't discuss that, lol.)

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Way to go on the QUITTING SMOKING, Woofens!! Yahooo! Now, keep taking good care of yourself and get all the way better soon!

I had a hard time getting onto DG earlier today... so, something is definitley up... moving to a new server could explain it!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, Jill! :-) Welcome to the chat annex. How are you doing tonight?

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Dubuque is pretty!!! Except for Stacy's garden there isn't much in Rockford to compare. :-) I'd choose DBQ first, too.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

I was born in Hazel Green WI. Ever heard of it Al?

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

I'm good! I've had a nag of a migraine today, but nothing compared to what I've been having around "this time" for quite a few months now, so I'm hoping that my body is finally getting its balance back... Yay!

I finally got the rest of my spring blooming bulbs planted yesterday, LOL! I ordered a few "clearance" bulbs from B&B to put into a narrow side bed, and they've been languishing in the garage because it was too frozen or too wet or too something to get them in the ground. So, that's another 1000 bulbs in the ground! *dusting off hands*

That sounds like more planting than was really involved, since only a few of those 1000 bulbs were larger ones like daffodils... Most were little crocci, hyacinths, and species tulips, and most went into existing tilled beds, so I didn't have to break a lot of ground in planting them.

I love planting bulbs that are good naturalizers... I'm already looking forward to the Spring 2010 display!

Oh, I have 2 amaryllis blooming now! 'Apple Blossom' and 'Blossom Peacock'... both are striking!

Got email from my folks in Johannasburg airport this morning... their African safari adventure is over and they're on their way home! Sounds like they've had a beyond-fabulous month!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Anyone want to see pictures of my 2 dead goldfish?

Thank you Marylyn, I totally agree!!!

Now when are you going to be up here?

HUH???

Well???

Come on now!!??!!

mg

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

I wanna see their pictures!! Maybe they can post them on Flick'r or something.. On the other hand, jealousy isn't good for me. Maybe I'd be better off not seeing them. LOL

I'm sorry about the migraine. :-( How exciting to get all of those bulbs planted!! :-)

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Marylyn,
I'll dmail a picture to you, do you want some scales too?

MG, Hazel Green sounds familiar... is that near Milwaukee? maybe around Oconnumowok? (now, I know I didn't spell that anything close to correctly, LOL)

My mom grew up on a dairy farm in central WI, near Wausau. Her relatives are still shocked that she first left home to go away to college and then married a "city guy" from Milwaukee!

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

Is this where chat is tonight ?

Oh, didn't mean to complain about the migraine.... it's such a little nag of a thing compared to the way they can be... Yes, all the way gone would be even better, but it's wonderful to have this much improvement!

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

MG, I almost came up over Thanksgiving, but it didn't work out. Maybe next year? :-) My mom's family has a big day-after-Thanksgiving party every year in my cousin's church in Janesville. That's not TOO far from Dubuque... :-)

Lewisville, MN(Zone 4a)

I was busy, then supper came along. Was going to lurk while I ate, hmmm didn't work.

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

Hi, Bernie!!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

I suppose back to work, we have lots of it all of a sudden. I think it's the warm weather. People are making their "winter" dreams come true.

Hazel Green is just across the WI border from Dubuque. I've lived in all 3 of the Tri-States, but all within 20 miles of this house, lol.

Anytime anyone is going to be in my area, Dmail me!! I adore playing tour guide. I love this area.

Hi Bernie!

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Anyone ever go on a driveby in Janesville?

My cousin's hubby is a youth pastor in Janesville. I don't know the name of his church, either. :-)

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

MT - should I jump up and down and act like a monkey?

What is "warm" in MN, Bernie? It has been really dry and warmer than usual down here, too. Are they buying plants from you?

Houston, TX(Zone 9a)

LOLOL One man's weeds... Hopefully they at least had nice flowers before they seeded and took over his yard.

Frederick, MD(Zone 6b)

Oh, I was so embarassed last year... I sent another DGer some black-eyed susans, and a weed got in with the clumps... she carefully potted it up, admired it, and then Dmailed me to ask its name! Oh, NO! It was one of those broad-leafed weeds that get into the lawn, what's the name, starts with a "P"

Appleton, WI(Zone 5a)

Miss Jill was it porcupine?

It's definitely about the eye of the beholder, though. My neighborhood garden helpers love the idea that it's only a weed if it's growing where you don't want it... They'll ask, hey Miss Jill, is this one a weed? Or is it a "volunteer??"
