berrygirl's fragrant RR part 2

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

I have raised some of the winter squash, but not this one, and they have BIG sweet smelling flowers.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

picabo, similar taste, but the squash is a whole lot bigger. Some of them can weight 20 lbs or more. They are tough to cut and peel, but well worth the effort.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

I want to vent about about the USPS.
I cannot understand how a pkg took 12 days to get from KY to TN!!!! A pkg took 12 days [again] to get to ME from GA!!!!! This was a rose I sent to someone and it arrived molded and probably dead!!

This is the kicker: I had a trade with someone who lives in OH. We both mailed our pkgs out to each other on Friday and they both got to us today!!!!!!

GO FIGURE!!!

Hi all
Just wanted to check in and let you know that I'll be sending out the RR tomorrow for sure. The DH will be taking it to the PO and I'll post the conp number as soon as possible. :) Hopefully, it won't take 12 days to get to Decatur!

Elaine,
LOL!! I hope not, but knowing the USPS....... I would not doubt it.
I am sure it'll be fine. Did you get lots of good seeds- I hope so!

I sure did! Felt sort of greedy, but there are plenty to go around. I had planned on putting in 4 o'clocks, sweet peas and sweet Williams but there were already plenty of those, so I put in several packs of herbs and some flower seeds, also. Hope everyone has *half* as much fun as I did! LOL

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

Yipee! Its coming to me!!

It sure is! The comp no is 0303 1290 0000 6557 1790. It left today! Have a good time. :)

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Elaine,
thanks for posting the tracking # and thank hubby for me too!

You're welcome, and I will. *Thank you* for being such a wonderful hostess for this fun RR. I got some great seeds I wouldn't have otherwise had. :)

Berrygirl, seeing 101's thank you, I too would like to "thank you" for being a great hostess of this RR. I am so excited that spring seems like it is on the way, and I am planning my fragrant garden as I type. I got some things I otherwise would not have bought. Now you know that you all have contributed to my garden addiction, but thanks anyway.

Decatur, GA(Zone 7a)

The Robin has landed! Wow, what a huge envelope, just chocked full of great seeds. Thanks to everybody who contributed! My moon vine seeds were there, too. Whoo hoo!!! It will be Saturday before I can send it on, and that's if tomorrow goes okay at work. At the latest, it will go out on Monday.

Wow, that was sure fast!! So glad it got there. Have fun!!

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks again Pins!

Spider 07, look out as it's finally on its way to you!! PLMK whn you get it- and have fun!

When DH and I were newly married in the '70s, we moved to an old mill town along a river, and two doors down were an elderly couple, Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, who grew the Cushaw squash and mentored me in old-time gardening.

So, our seed is descended from their's, I put it into the Valentine swap, and whoever got my valentine seed put it back into this one. The seed boucing around from neighbor to neighbor and state to state has taken quite a journey in time - wonder where the Johnsons got their seed from?

I'll bet they never envisioned their seed traveling around the internet. Y'all make this robin sound like a backyard swap.

Yeah, if these little seeds could talk! ;)

Nashville, TN(Zone 6b)

I gave some of my Cushaw seeds to my neighbors who are planting their first garden. I saved 6 for me. Looking forward to see what they do.

I have Poached Eggs sprouting today.

Well, guys, I want to report that I have 2 of my supposedly scented dahlia seeds germing.
I hope the other seeds germ too, Caren!
How exciting!
Am very curious on whether they will smell at all.

We have hit another snag.

I am not trying to place any blame here- life happens, we get busy and things slip our minds. I forget what my name is on any given day!

This is what I *think * has happened: Apparently Spider moved/changed addresses AFTER the RR had already started and did not give me her new addy. Pins mailed it to her old one[which is the one I had enclosed in the RR instructions] thinking this was OK. I had noticed that Spider should have gotten the RR b/c her and Pins live near each other anbd it seemed to be taking a long time to get just a few miles away. When I dmailed Spider she hadn't gotten it yet. When I clicked on her name I noticed her city listed was different. I emailed her again about this but haven't heard from her yet.

I hope the PO is trying to get it delivered as sometimes they give a grace period to forward new mail. Pins had her return addy on the RR so if the PO can't get it to Spider, it will come back to her. Then I will give her the new info. and she can re-send it to Spider. After her is Frausnow.

I will never do another RR again- this was my first and last time- lol! I just don't have nerves of steel anymore- I'm too impatient and too much of a worrywart to do this- ha ha!

It is not a problem I did not give my address to you. My mail is all redirected so I should have received it. I did not.

I am not having enough time to visit all the threads as I am very busy at the moment.

Anna

Berry, I answered your Dmail a long time ago.

Lilburn, GA

I am going to my old apartment tomorrow to talk to the manager. Then I will send it to the next person.

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Anna,
I am not trying to be difficult or hurt your feelings, OK? I stated up front that things happen- we all make mistakes- life gets hectic.

About the email: I am talking about the last email I sent you Sat night. You did not answer me back. I will be glad to post it here if you'd like.

It was the responsibility of EVERYONE participating in the RR to keep up with the RR thread to know what was going on. That was one of the stipulations for participating. It's only fair to everyone involved.

are you talking abou tDmail or normal email. I did not receive any emails from you. What addr4ess did you sued?

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Spider click on the above link in my last post. It was a dave's mail. I sent you two Fri night. You answered the first one but not the 2nd.

It's OK really- just a misunderstanding. All is OK I promise. Carefully re-read my 2nd sentence form my post tonight at 8:05. The object was not to criticize or blame you in any way. I was just letting Fraus and you know what was going on with the RR.

This is what I get for posting while having a head ache- lol! I am sure the RR will turn up and get to the finish line- it's soo close.

edited for spelling errors.

I answered you by saying that I forgot to give my new address but that it is in the address exchange. I sent you a new Dmail about it.I don't have time to check this thread anymore. I am very busy at the moment. As soon as I ge the package I will post it to the next person.

bye

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Spider,
You finally answered my last dmail tonight- after I had dmailed you twice and posted on the thread.

It was YOUR responsibility- not mine- to give me your new address once the RR had started.

We are all busy.

To Spider and any and all whom I may have hurt or offended: I am very, very sorry as it was not my intention at all. I apologize and hope we can all have a big group hug when this RR is over. Hope everyone gets many years of enjoyment from their fragrant seeds.

Just trying to moderate a RR and it gets tricky sometimes.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Berrygirl, I am so grateful for you handling this RR. This is my first one, and quite frankly, I have been pleased with it. I think that you have handled the frustrations well. There are many factors to deal with when a number of people are involved. The post office, for one, and let's face it, all of us can't have your sunny disposition!!

Just saying thanks, and don't give up on hosting another one, just wait until you see what's in this one!!

Yes ... I second that Defoe. We'll have to start a new thread and call it "what's growing in your fragrant RR". I'm just so thrilled with all my seeds!
... Elaine

Lakemont, GA(Zone 8a)

Thanks defoe and I01!! I really don't deserve your praise. I am feeling kinda crummy for making Spider angry and/or hurt at me when it really was not my intent.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Hey don't worry about it. Everybody has an off day every now and then, and maybe you all were having yours at the same time!!

I am usually even tempered, but I lost it today with my ISP. Boy, I am paying for a service that is slower than molasses. Not in an area where I can get DSL, and not where I can get broadband from cable, so I am stuck with dial up, and for the bucks I pay, it should be faster than what it has been in the last week or so. While on that rant, called my cell phone carrier, and complained about the dropped calls and poor service. I know that it won't get any better, but, I got it off my chest, and will now live with both on a day to day basis, until the next thing sends me "over the edge".

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I am very happy with this RR as well. I think you shouldnt feel bad at all for anything that has happned. Even with Spider, She should have let you know but as she said she has been very busy, she said she has a handle on the situation and will send it to the next person. Really I don't see a problem here.
All is well untill we know something is wrong. Chin up BG! It will all work out! Deep breath in.... and out (tounge in cheek) :o)

I agree with everyone. Thank you Berry for organizing it. And when I say I am busy, i am RELLY busy. At the moment I am rehabing 14 baby squirrels of all ages, 2 baby opossums and 10 baby bunnies. They all have different feed times, all have different needs and health issues. I am really stressed out at the moment. No time for anything and unable to leave home. I have to feed the very small ones at midnight and then get up at 4am to feed them again. adn they are all due for the next feed at 8am!

And I have to deal with all tragedies and deaths involved in wildlife rehab. It is a very difficult time in the year. The time when all babies arrive and become orphans or sick, the time when the weather gets warm so animals are out, being hit by cars. You have an idea.

I will be going to see the manager of my old apartment to see what is happening as they must have signed for the package. They have my new address and so has the post office that is dealing with mail redirecting.

Lilburn, GA

Berry, and I did sent you a Dmail about forgetting to send you the new address. I even thought " uh oh, she will be cross with me when I pressed the send button. But the way life is at the moment I have no idea where or who I sent the message to.

"in verge of a nervous breakdown" Anna
