Zarcanat, sounds like a great idea to me. I've done a lot of seed trading across "the pond" since I've joined DG, and even some bulbs and rhizomes, with no problem. The postage from the US is cheap - 83 cents for several seed packets in a bubble envelope. It costs me twice as much to send from my end - 1 euro 38. I don't know how that compares with Canadian postal rates. You do have to be patient - delivery, especially in Southern Europe, tends to be slow......

Can you update us on the RR please?

I still have the envelope. I'm putting the packets together. I'll post when I take it to the P.O., probably tomorrow.

The robin took off this afternoon for Pleasureville, KY. It should be there on Monday! The delivery confirmation number is 0304 3490 0003 1491 3921.

I did want to mention a couple of things:

1. The bubble envelope is showing its "wear & tear" from crisscrossing the U.S. The edge of the envelope was ripped when I received it. The U.S. Postal Service is NOT exactly gentle when handling the mail. I hope the envelope holds up until it returns safely back to berrygirl.

2. I tried to include fragrant items that were NOT already in the envelope. We have a multitude of 4 O'Clocks, Sweet Peas, & Dianthus (of one type not different varieties). Please try to include other types of fragrances such as herbs, shrubs & trees (if possible).

Shirley, do you think the bubble envelope was ripped badly enough for some of the seed to fall out? I notice you mentioned that only one kind of dianthus (D. barbatus aka sweet william was most plentiful) was in there, so am wondering if the D. allwoodii, D. superbus, and D. caryophyllus (2 kinds of carnation) that I put in there got to you.

I saw a lot of D. barbatus aka Sweet William. I think I remember seeing D. allwoodii. Don't remember if I saw D. superbus or D. caryophyllus.

That means that it is coming to me! Oh, I am so excited. Have my seeds packaged and ready to stick in. Will get it out pronto. Hurray.

Oops! Guess what I just found stuck in between several packets of seeds? The "TO" and "FROM" stickers! I'm so sorry!! They didn't get into the bubble envelope that I sent to defoecat! Do you want me to send them to defoecat or the next person after her? Sorry, I can't remember who that was.

The eagle has landed!! The envelope stuffed full arrived here today. I have sorted, pilfered, and packaged. It will be on the way to Nashville, Tennessee tomorrow morning. I will post the confirmation tomorrow.
I have taped the envelope securely, and somebody asked if the carnation seed was in there, 2 env. of them. I took a few seeds of one. It seems like the most plentiful seeds are 4 O'clock, sweet william, moonflower, and maybe sweetpea. But a good variety. Till tomorrow when the eagle flies again!!

Oooh, that means it *won't be long now!

I can't believe that it hasn't gotten to Nashville by now. I am going to USPS to see if there are any updates.

I just checked the USPS website and its still giving the same old info. Could you call your PO and see what is going on? I would greatly appreciate it.

Sorry didn't see your message in time to do it today, but will go to the post office in the morning, and see if they can tell me anything.

Ladies,
Alll of you who were to receive the RR after defoecat: there MAY be a slight delay. The USPS website doesn't give any new updates on the RR [ using confirmation #] since defoe got postage on it at her local PO on Mar 8. She is checking into it for us.

PLEASE try to be patient. Hopefully it will turn up and be on its way soon.

bumping this up for all my RR ladies to see.

If it is any consolation, I have gone to the post office to make an inquiry. Was called today by the post office, and they have the same information. I am going again to the post office tomorrow, to fill out a form to start an official investigation. I have called the Louisville area post office, as that is where our mail goes from this county. They are looking into this matter also. I called Berrygirl this afternoon and explained what I have done, and what I will do tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed, and if you believe in divine intervention, pray. I will post again to let you know.

Berrygirl, didn't mean to hijack the post, just want to take responsibility, and try to find out what is going on with the missing package.

To update: Went to the post office today, and officially launched an investigation. I don't know what it will reveal, but I have done what I can at this time.

I feel so guilty that this happened on my watch. Sure hope that the package turns up. I had so much fun going through it, and I am sure that others would have too.
