Um, translation of the header:
"Co-Con Cooperating Consultants Worldwide" (they're being silly here)
"Network of consultants inspiring each other, collaborating on (um..) mutual projects"
The text with the image: "Annie does this and that, and is especially interested in whatevers and whatnots". Literally. I had to put something there to show them what it would look like, see? :-)
I use PhotoShop for image processing, and HomeSite for HTML programming. Most people I've made stuff for maintain the finished sites in FrontPage. IMHO, Publisher is okay for making drafts, playing around and deciding what you want, but not good enough for publishing actual sites.
I think I finally came up with a name for my farm!
Janett, you evil Swede you! Dumme svensker! Your translation is better than my own, now I'm five years old and pouting :-)
ROTFLMAO me evil.........quickly hiding the horns and tail and put on the halo :0))
Now girls, go to your corners, calm down and then come out, shake hands and play nice. :)
I think hubby is going to find me a copy of Front Page. Since he is in the Nerd business, he can sometimes get me these things. LOL Publisher was here so I played. I'm like that, a playbaby!
Chele, I think the site is looking great, I love that green marble color. I especially like that your pics are so clear and vivid and well composed, you're a good photographer :-)
Vicki
Thanks Vicki. I do enjoy playing around with it and it is more satisfying now that I know how to put the darn thing on the web! LOL Now I gotta work on getting stuff ready to sell. :)
Oh my! ..
An ta tink .. dat us Loozianne bred paht-'cajun' fokes like ta take da claim to "da dis, ditts, anda datts". ... Hmmm, welllll, now we all knoe'd da truff 'bouta matta!! .. lol .. ((huggs))
I've got a question 'Chele ... I 'see' just three photos: are there more .. that for some reason I am unable to pull them up?
- Magpye
I have not completed it nor added anything for sale. I've never even attempted a website before so I was just playing around to see how it worked. I did the minimal setup so I could get in there, do what I want, add plant lists or whatever later and have some idea what I am doing. When I do the real deal, there were be pictures of what is for sale, pricing, contact info, etc. I wanted to get a feel for what people found appealing, disliked, etc. There are only those three pictures right now. I will add more of my own pics of what I grow/sell later before I actually point out that it's there. I guess I just got excited because I am doing *something*. LOL
I didn't think you'd fully launched the site yet .. and, was just wondering .. if my eyes were playing tricks on me again, 'Chele.
Besides, with my being denied access to some of the forums here on DG already - sure nuff didn't want to take things for granted .. that, yet another something, wasn't working. .. hee .. Appreciate your getting me set me strait, that it's not another totally unexplained and unanswered phenomenon I'm having to endur.
Hopin' that some of that web 'shtuffs' has lent a wee bit of aid ...

I bet Chele will be running up and down the plant lanes yelling *grow darn plants* so I can put you on my new web page with the text "for sale"................ROTFLMAO
Janett
Looking great, Chele. That was so cool "looking up GeminiGarden, transferring" etc. etc, when you just settled on the name a few days ago! Moving right along.
Sharon
So I have a question for the tech nerd - sorry, u said it first! When I added ur site to favorites, the listing only says 'Home' and not 'GeminiGardens'. Any idea why? 'Home' on the favorites list doesn t tell me what the site is. (hmmmm puzzled!)
You guys are so great! And a couple of you are really bad! LOL I could always sell the kids.....Nah, then I'd just have to make more. :)
Mags, everyone can see all the plants, prices and pages except you. Hmmmm. :P
I just fixed the "home" thing. I hadn't adjusted a setting so it just stuck with the default setting which was "home". You should now get a "Welcome to GeminiGarden" if you bookmark.
A few days ago, I had no name. One day ago I had no website. I think I better go pray over my seeds and stock up on happy plant vitamins. LOL
Okay, okay... I'll play nice :-) But I'm still feeling silly, so I accidentally stumbled over my keyboard and made you this thingie with MitchF's doodle and one of your own pictures that I've enlarged (thus the graininess) and cut a piece out of.
Seriously, though: You mentioned earlier the pixels showing in the header you made. When you're settled on a design, I'll be more than happy to remove any rough edges for you in PhotoShop.
Thanks, Chele!
MsH - that's very pretty, I like it!!
Now that is very nice! It reminds me of something I have seen but I can't quite put my finger on it. Hubby is looking into running down a copy of Front Page for me. I also have a copy of Paint Shop around here somewhere. My computer gets wiped out from time to time and reloaded and the kids like to trash CD's and disks when I am not paying attention. :(
Reminds you of something you can't put your finger on??? ROFLMBO 'Chele, honey, scroll all the way up to the top of this page.
I like your marbled script, don't really like the shadowing much. I'd like to see it done in a more flowery type lettering. Rounder and flowing maybe?
mg
You dork! It isn't DG that it reminds me of! LOL The peroxide sunk in but not THAT deep!
Let me get a marker and eraser and I'll adjust the font. :)
Ribbin' ya doll. Thank you for your honest opinion.
Chele, just added you to my favorites on the computer.... :) ;)
Gosh, if you people keep book marking, I am really going to start feeling pressured to do something. LOL
Chele, if you want to go looking for fonts, here are some that are either free or very cheap (quality may vary, but great stuff can be found):
http://www.dafont.com/theme.php?cat=601
http://www.acidfonts.com/
http://www.abstractfonts.com/
http://www.fontfreak.com/index3.htm
http://www.larabiefonts.com/
If you win the lottery, übercool professional fonts can be bought here (okay, this is where I would buy fonts if I won the lottery):
http://www.linotype.com/
http://www.fonts.com/
http://www.myfonts.com/
Oh, and the fonts with widdle drawings and images in them, just like the piggy mentioned in an earlier post? This is a good collection: http://www.fontgarden.net/dingbats/ If you want to see more, just Google for the word "dingbat".
Oooh, this is so fun! I thought I should pipe up whilst I am lurking :)
Sarah
Thanks for all the sites and the little demo fonts! That certainly is a collection. I have found MS Front Page mostly in the $75-88 range and am holding off hitting the 'buy' button until hubby looks a bit more. I imagine I can write it off but that is a chunk of change huh!
Hey Chele!
Congratulations!
I know you've been kicking around on whether or not to really go into the plant business and think you've certainly made the right choice.
Glad you could finally come up w/ a name.
Catchy and Easy to remember.......
The page looks great so far.
I really like the look you're going for......
May I suggest though........as you're going to stay Internet for a bit.....to remove your street address and zip from the page.
It's relatively safe here at Dave's but that is your home address too.
You can always add it later or put a link to email for directions.
Plannin' on running any plants on consignment?
Need any pictures?
Again I LOVE that you've taken the plunge!
Mazel Tov!
Ric
Hey Ric! Thanks!
The addy thing, well that is sort of a problem. The addy for the business is my side yard. LOL The very best hope I can have is for say 1180 and a half or 1180 b. The addresses out here really go up and down but for some reason the next house over actually got 1181!?!?! Across the street is 1500 and next to me on the other side is 1300 or something wacky. That is part of my joy of living in 2 counties. LOL Although I am not real comfortable with the addy being online, what do I do? Any ideas? That website is just sort of a place holder for the moment. I did get my federal tax id and my county/state vendors license. At least everything is legal.
If you have plants to unload, I'd be happy to work something out with you as my plant stock is going to be low at the start. A guy down in the village also said I can move my stuff through him on the same basis. It wouldn't hurt me any to have my name out there. He has a landscaping business and sells mulch, stone and large rocks, garden statuary, etc, right next to a convenience store, across from a laundry mat, next to the family diner, etc. :)
This is all a whirlwind but I am enjoying the ride! I am under little pressure other than covering my costs so this will be my learning year and I have some wonderful behind the scene mentors here at DG.
Now THAT is all inclusive! That doll sort of looks like a fairy. Hmmm, you don't think that mile rile the farmers, now do ya?
Great Idea to start sloooowww and build up.
The installation part of our business is built on the fact that 25% of all new restaurants die in the first year,
50% in two.
You need Capital to get thru two years upfront.
By doing it your way there is next to no risk.
I can get you all the dwarf and medium bamboo you can move.
Ask Robyn it will be ALL the 'boo we have! LOL
Plus Aroids and many water plants you don't have in bulk.
The GH is a success and many plants are thinking it's already Spring.
Ric
well if farmers dont know about garden fairy's by now they shouldnt be growing :)
ps . i can put fairy wings on her ...

You need 6 of the Fairies and a Big Ole Guy w/ a shotgun in the background!
Ric
if you people keep book marking, I am really going to start feeling pressured to do something. LOL?
Why yeah....big news daily!!
Behave yourself! LOL
Hey Indy, missed ya! I am busily ordering seeds, cuttings, plugs, plants, etc. I guess that is *something*. :) I plan to put up a nicer, more professional page but need some software. That page is just sort of holding a spot right now. LOL I guess I could find some time to get on there and blog or create a "What's that maniac up to?" newsletter. :P
Well well, what have me here?!!!
Getting a bit caught up as I am been so busy working etc. and I always slow down with garden stuff during winter.
A great big CONGRATSon the business name and website!! You have made great strides, as to be expected.
Did you do anything to the interiors to the new home or have you been too busy with the garden aspects?
I do owe you a hecka lotta plants ya know, as things warm up, I'll get them to you, I need more room here anyways!
Hey Sue! I knew you had been amiss lately. :)
You sure don't OWE me anything! We always have fun trades. I can't wait to see some of last years swaps bloom!!! I think I'll have some fun stuff this year to make you giddy. LOL
Don't work too hard!
