There is actually a tavern/bar/pub place here called Hog Heaven. I haven't been in there and from the looks of people I have seen walking around at night, I don't know that I should go in there! LOL
I have my tax stuff sitting here so I can call the IRS tomorrow and get a tax number instantly and find out what else I need to do. I tried to register for the domain name and guess what? You gotta have a tax ID. Geeze!
On a good note, I did write to a plant wholesale person today and he called me soon after. Looks like he has some fun plants and start up specials too. :)
I think I finally came up with a name for my farm!
yahoo!
ya think they're branching out from New Philly and Dover? (wouldn't be surprised if the two we were in, aren't ones we'd be in in the wee hours...) lol
Badseed, I have been following your saga of the hunt for your garden name with great interest. I am also a Gemini. I think you Gemini Garden with be just great. And good luck with all the paper work with IRS and Tax number. i remember when I had to do all that for my garden 'Donna's Lilies of the Valley' Lo those many years ago. You will do just fine. And do keep us informed. DonnaS
Chele, just in case you cant get Gemini Gardens you can try for Gemini Plantation. Just a thought. I really like the Gemini Idea.
Casey
It's official! I AM www.geminigarden.com What went nowhere lands on a coming soon! Wooo hoooo. Now, how the heck do I build a web page? LOL Maybe Dave is bored today. Bwaha hahahah Just kidding. I would NEVER ask but he sure is a wiz!
I have my tax ID also. Next step is a resale license! I CAN buy plants wholesale now and I am ready to shop! Oh, guess I'll need money. hehehe Oh, honey............ chuckle
Thanks so much you guys, all of you for helping me, encouraging me and not reaching through my monitor to slap me even though I *might* have deserved it from time to time. :)
CONGRATULATION........................Now you have it all :0))
Janett
And Gemini Gnome to boot! ;)
Excellent news! Now you can REALLY start planning for nursery stock, etc. So glad for you. I'm betting the computer forum can help with building a website.
Sharon
I love the name 'Chele, but......
Twin Badseeds??? *shudder*
LMBOROF
Maybe that's why there are always 2 of you in chat? It's fate!
mg
You goof! Don't you pay attention? One is the good one and one is the bad one. :)
And there has been times when you have been in tripplets............who is the third?? rotflmao
Yup, I'm a goof alright! And when I get back from the doc I'll tell you about trying to electrocute myself last night changing a transformer for my doorbell.
Ever try to type without using your index fingers or your right thumb? They aren't burned, just numb, lmao.
mg
Silly Janett! The third one is "sitting on the fence me". It is deciding which way to go-good or bad! LOL
MG! Did ya get a fro too? LOL
Hey where did my message go? Oh well, I'll try to do it again.
Yippee, yahoo and congrats. So glad this one small item is taken care of...so what's the next step, other than the web page?
Now you have to come up with a logo. You might go with something like Mitch created above. Or you could start "another" thread for ideas on a logo. lololol --How many threads have you started since you started this whole moving thing? It's been so much fun watching and learning from this experience.
So, is the old house ready to sell yet? If not, try to make that a BIG priority so you can continue with your new adventure. :-)
Donna
Congratulations and Good Luck with everything!!
This is going to be quite an undertaking for you, luckily you will have family to help. Your girls will be speaking Latin in no time!!Ha! I've seen this in family nurserys, little ones knowing all the botonical names!
Best wishes!!
Bonnie
Chele, congratulations. I am so happy that at least this part is over. I am sure that the website will be a breeze to get up and going. I am so excited for you that you are on your way.
Casey
Chele, it's wonderful that you have settled on a name. Congratulations! Do you feel all grown up now? I know I did when my tax ID was finaly settled, and I'm 37! :-)
dmcdevitt, how is this for an angelic hog theme? :-)
Sorry the image's so small, it's from a goofy, now discontinued, recipe website I did some years ago: http://www.stine.dk/musehjerne/
The piggy itself is from a freeware font - you just download them from the internet, choose the symbol to your liking and color it in.
I am both nervous and excited! LOL Hmmm, feel grown up? hehehe This is not my first business but it is the first time I might actually make a little money doing something I love instead of just something I am trained to do. I've had my Cosmetology license since 88 but don't think you should do something you don't love just because you are good at it. ;) I also used to have a little side business doing desktop publishing.
I've had professional plant people tell me not to get into the business if you love it because once it becomes work, you may not love it. My thinking is that if I am going to do it 12 hours a day a lot of the year anyway, I should try to get more out of it than neat plants and pretty flowers! I guess that I am lucky in that I don't have to totally support my family from profit but I think it is high time I start putting some money back in the bank. Lord knows I have taken enough out in the name of gardening over the last 13 years. LOL I also have those six cars, proms, homecomings, weddings....OMG! I think I better start a few more busineses. LOL
Donna, I have already started buying some cuttings to root, some bareroot or small plants to finish, tons of seeds and my mind is reeling thinking of crafts I might do in the winter for some added income. I don't think I will throw up a sign and open to the public just yet but stick with internet and local until I get into the swing of things. I don't want to get in over my head. ;) I have been looking through some of my pictures to see if I have anything uniquely me that I would like to use for the website, as well as the logo. Having many named plants in my pics, I think maybe I have to be careful not to step on toes.
Bonnie, my eldest learned Ajuga reptans, Helianthus annua and a few other names when she was about 2. It was pretty funny!
MsHansen, that is very cool and I'll save it!!
Chele I can imagine being nervous, but you have half the United States "rooting" for you!!!
There is nothing better than doing what you love and to actually get paid for it. Good luck. I enjoyed following this thread and now await some of those unusual or unique plants to be offered.
You guys are awesome! Right now I am still messing around with that &_*&)$#*_# web page. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or if it is not set up yet. Host site said it could take 48 hours.
Having a good day are we 'Chele? ;)
Don't sweat it, Chele. It does take time for internet servers around the world to update, exchange information and agree that you new website exists, and there's nothing you can do to speed that process up.
48 hours is worst case, though - it's usually up and running within 24. Go make a cup of hot cocoa :-)
Okie dokie! I had to call in a nerd! Thank goodness he works for food. :) He helped me get a webpage uploaded even if it's not the one I keep, it's *something*. LOL Honest opinions please? www.geminigarden.com
Its beautiful..............are you gonna have the plants listed in the left column ? such as grasses, annuals bulbs aso. and have the separate sort open in a new window?
Janett
Thanks! I have never even attempted a webpage before so I was basically playing. I will probably add hyperlinks to get to different lists/pages. I still have to fill in contact info and links as well. I just thought before I did too much work or went too crazy, I'd see if you thought I was headed the right direction and also if I could even get the blasted thing to load! LOL
The webpages I love the most to look at is the ones that have buttons(as you have to the lett) that sais Ex. grasses and it opens in a new window where they have all their grasses listed with pictures, info and price. Also a buy button. If you know what I mean.
Janett
You two did really well! Ü
So .. your website isn't quite 'officially' existent .. yet?
- Magpye
I really like it too!
And I love your "Gemini" dayliles, lol. Are they named "Gemini" too?
mg
Lookin Good Chele!!
The photos are beautiful, and the writing is good. Love the "Laughter makes the soul bloom" part :-) But the purple gradients and the red and yellow text? Um, not so much.
What do you want it to be, eventually? A presentation of your farm that makes people want to run to their cars and visit you in person, or do you want to sell plants online?
Thank you Janett! I will have buttons later when I have things to put on the buttons like things to sell. :) I have a bunch of seeds here to grow, things to divide, cuttings and plugs and plants ordered.
Thanks Lilypon. I had the site set up but couldn't get the thing to upload. The problem was using Firefox. Hubby used IE and up it went!
Magpye, it exists and is REALLY there but I am sure the content will change. I also don't have anything for sale yet. If I did, I think it would be a no no to be dragging you all over there. LOL
MG! I scrolled through some photos I have on my computer and picked the first ones that looked twin-ish. Black Eyed Stella won. The photo is mine and the plants are mine but I didn't make or name them. Hmmm, wonder if that is a problem?
Sanks Woofie!
Thank you for the honesty on the color MsHansen. I think they clash myself. Now that I know how to load the page after I work on it (uhhhh, I think), I can work on what I already did, change it and replace the existing one. I just wanted to see how it would look and figure out how it worked. I started with a green marbled font that I liked but couldn't get it just the way I wanted it so I decided to play off the hem color. I think I got more *POP* from the color than planned.
For now I will sell plants online and from the front yard but plan to grow into a full blown nursery. If anyone called or wrote and wanted to come by, I don't see it as a problem. I doubt any of the locals will even know the site exists unless they jump on the internet between planting the fields and milking the cows. Just a joke. There are "regular Joes" around here too that punch a clock and some home businesses.
Changed it. Getting better or getting worse? www.geminigarden.com
Hmmmm, you can see pixels in the shadow....
Getting better, definitely! The colors work together now. instead of yelling at each other :-) What program are you using?
BTW, you can make lovely headers with closeups of sky and garden pictures. This is a draft for my mom's business: http://www.egede.dk/sky/
(Please ignore the icky green of the menu bar, it will be replaced with one of these colorswatches: http://www.egede.dk/sky/farvetest.html )
I'm also working on the draft below, it has not made it into a webpage yet. The principle is the same, though: You pick an image for your header, and then you can "pluck" matching colors from different parts of the image.
PS: Nothin wrong with your eyes, it is the same picture af the same lady repeating. The rest of the members of the network have not sent in their pictures and text yet :-)
That is very nice! I wondered if that lady had split personalities.....Just jiving! So what the heck does it say? LOL
Apparently our Front Page was destroyed by our children so I was just messing around with Microsoft Publisher. It's familiar and comfortable, even if somewhat limiting. I am not sure what I am going for so enjoyed the reason to sit and play. What do you use?
Magpye did sent me some monster links to try out some other webbuilder stuff. Thanks Mags!
on the top it says
Network for consults who inspires each other and work together with different projects
the picture text says:
*name* promises ditt( this) and datt (that) and intrests herself apart over ditt and datt.
