I think I finally came up with a name for my farm!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I have killed myself lately trying to come up with a name for my farm, soon to be business! I need to get a tax ID and needed before I did it. I had two threads for people to suggest names and people came up with all sorts of neat stuff! Well, I tried and tried to narrow it down and chose the right one. It was downright painful.

I think I have it!

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I sat looking through a dictionary, seeing if anything hit me. I came to Pisces which means absolutely nothing to me! ROTFLOL But, it made me think of Gemini which is my sign. So.......drumroll.....hehehehe

How about:

Gemini Gardens? It is simple. It's easy to pronounce. I can have a Double G Farm. LOL

Okay, love it or hate it?

Brockton, MA(Zone 6a)

I like it,
Makes me want to reach for the stars.

Northeast, AR(Zone 7a)

Hey, I kinda like it. You could have a double lazy g brand too.

The name of my gardens is The Butterfly Ranch. My brand is a butterfly with a lazy B and R joined together in the lower part of a wing.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

I love it - I would buy from ya. Make sure you really work on the site - the photos are the big seller for a lot of plants. I know I am not going to buy from a seller that does not have good pics the plants I dont know and some good info!

Benton, KY(Zone 7a)

I like it alot....and it's something that you came up with too!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Badseed, so why did you put us all to torture, wracking our brains for you when you had it all along? Good name, I like it, short, easy to remember. Good going.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I guess that wasn't a good idea either. Sorry.

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

It was a lot of fun! And some silliness, too. I like the name, it's easy, catchy and it inspires images of celestial things...twins...doubles... as in fans? :)

Moose Jaw, SK(Zone 3b)

Michelle I'm not sure if this matters or not but the name is already taken by

Gemini Gardens

Their business is:

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

sorry, back to the drawing board. hey, late night is a good time to brainstorm and google stuff! you never know what a little moonlight and chocolate [or some other indulgence] will do for your barin cells...

cheer up, you could come up with the name at any moment now...

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

i still like Meyer's Plant Ranch...

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

LOL Chocolate does wonders for my barren brain cells.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Problem is I am running into issues ordering some things without a tax id. The longer I mess around searching for the "perfect" name that I could be stuck with for a lot of years, things are selling out. I guess that floral person does not believe in a website.

Willamette Valley, OR(Zone 8a)

Here Chele.....(passing you a chocolate chip cookie)....I just made these....they're still warm. :-)

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

It all depends on whether or not the name is registered, and if it is, is it registered on a state or federal level.

Warm cookies are always good for the heart. :)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

It's alright guys. This too shall pass. Maybe I'll just stick a sales table out in the front yard and show a lot of cleavage! I'm gonna go to bed and stare out the window for a couple of hours. LOL

www.geminigardens.com says it is under construction.
www.gemini-gardens.com is nothing.

Godaddy said they were available. Oh well.

Michelle
Am saying prayers you find a name for your business soon. Cheer up ... we're rootin for you!

Jugs, BS. Since you feel you're in a pinch, why not just use something like "Meyer's Gardens" for your tax ID number. (As I mentioned before in our talk, you may not need one, just use your SS#, or is that safe anymore?)

Anyway, register your tax ID number with Meyer's Gardens and then use another name of your choosing for your actual home business/farm/greenhouse, and it can easily be considered a subsidiary or division or "Meyer's Gardens". All you plant and supply purchases can then be made under the Meyer's Gardens name (and tax ID) but don't necessarily have to be sold under that name as long as you own it all.

There ya go. Simple. Cut and dried. Now go order those plugs, cuttings, pots, etc.

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

now why iddn't i think of that? or say it sooner. yes, you only need one business name for your Fed tax ID and/or your state sales and use permit. they told me at the office they didn't care how many other names i used, as long as i paid my taxes!

the other names you choose later can simply be registered with your ocunty ($25 each here), and then the certificate the county gives you is given to your bank to establish your Doung Business As, so that you can accept checks made out to that business.

whoa, time for me to go look out the window too LOL

best wishes,
tf

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Okay, I am back!

www.Gemini-Garden.com is available. The two above are as they stand.

For all intensive purposes, I may just stick with "Meyer Plant Ranch" for now.

Even though I know some of you favor using Auntie M's, I am not sure how comfortable I would be, let alone, the 80 year old lady having to call me Auntie M!

I've reached that *point in my life* where I am feeling old and fat and aggravated. Yeah I know 37 ain't THAT old but lately it feels OLD! I think part of my problem is the emails that I am receiving about my 20 year reunion. GASP! My joke is always that "people only go to reunions to see who got fat and who went bald. I already know which one I win. LOL I am glad that Iived long enough to get the emails. :)

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Chele you are too funny!!

I like Gemini garden(s) too, and hope you get it worked out. I has a nice crisp future-oriented sound, like maybe you'll have some cutting edge daylilies.

Meyer's Plant Ranch has more of a laid back sound.

It was a lot of laughs getting to this point....now should i start a thread for naming my farm?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks! :)

I think maybe you better pre-register "Blood Sweat and Tears Ranch". LOL You have taken on one heck of a job and it is going to be so totally awesome! You picked one that needs a lot of work but it also has really great bones. I will offer you a bit of advice. Start looking for a name NOW!

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Chele, yes the place is just awful inside....the mountain in the backyard is
Hogback Mountain.
When the seller described how to find the farm and mentioned Hogback Mountain in my mind I saw a big white HOGBACK sign halfway up rather like the Hollywood sign.

When I stood at the farm the firsr time I thought "I'm in Hog Heaven".

now of course it would sound like a pig farm (lets not even entertain allusions to stys here (or sties?? What is the plural of a pigsty??) But I can envision my garden angel with a big rusty-barn-roof sign that reads "Hogback Heaven"

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Perfect! LOL

See, you got a *sign*. I got nada! ;)

Schroon Lake, NY(Zone 4a)

Well good thing because my sign is cancer and that wouldn't work too great, would it???

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Well, I can see where that might be a sale killer. LOL

Timberlea, NS(Zone 6a)

Badseed--I like Gemini Gardens, but if you are unable use it, how about (the) Gemini Gardener(s)? Or even Gemini Garden (no "s")? Or Gemini's Garden?

I just really like the "Gemini" part because it brings to mind a lot of ideas for the logo! ; )

Rhonda

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

Thanks much! I really can't get the name out of my head. I think I WILL find a way to make it work! I just need to be careful not to do anything so crazy that people will not be able to find it online easily.

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

Any of those would work - just be careful not to copy their symbols and you should be fine.. Being the twins what about two girls bending towards each other well check this doodle out it would need cleaned up but I could see this work...

Lindsay, OK(Zone 7a)

you could always take the hats off and give them braids... this is the perfect name to draw something great.

Mansfield, TX(Zone 8a)

What a hoot! I followed along on the other threads about naming your farm, and really enjoyed it. I like the Gemini Garden(s) a lot, too, so snag the internet name quick, and if it has to be hyphenated, I'd maybe do the same with the tax ID thing so it would match, and people would automatically look for it that way.
Sharon

Lincoln, NE(Zone 5b)

Yes, you could have tons of fun with the name. With all of those girls, would that be 'twins' to the 3rd power?? ;)

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

If I google "GeminiGarden" or "GardenGemini" with no spaces, nothing turns up! Adding the S causes problems. Now where are those people with the argument of whether you have gardens or if your whole property is considered A garden. LOL

I tried typing the words mirrored but it looks plain weird!

inimeGGemini
Or
GeminiinimeG

Bad!

I'm gonna finish making dinner!

Ewing, KY(Zone 6a)

How about Gemini Garden(s) Galore. Then you could do 3 G's as a logo?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I am going ahead with "GeminiGarden".

I considered "GeminiGardenGems" but hubby said that was too much of a mouthful and the kids don't like it either! LOL

The domain name for the above is opened and I can call the IRS and get my tax number in the morning. Wheeeeeeeee! Here we go!

(y'all wish me good karma this time!)

Seymour, IN(Zone 5b)

Good Karma coming your way from Indiana!! Best of luck and enjoyment in your new undertaking. Think about a slate painting for a sign and let me know . I still want to paint a sign for you. Lou

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

You are the best! I have my personal greenhouse up and am deciding where to put the slate you made for me. Do you think lavender barns would look bad? LOL Seriously, I want to see what lumber I have around here and put my slate up by my greenhouse. I love it! It looks sort of sad sitting out there in a 25 gallon pot for it's safety.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Reading this a ways up had me chuckling. About 5 years ago, DH had to get the flatbed re-curved (or whatever they call it), at the Raven's Trailer Factory. It's down in central OH, in Dover. The job took 3 days as they also welded any cracks, added a lumber rack, back step (for me, hee hee) and replaced all the 'stuff' in the suspension etc.

So we did some exploring in New Philly and found a restaurant called Hog Heaven. It had a lot of Harley pics and entertaining stuff. Very unique place. Food was excellent too! We noticed different folks ordering 'Hog Balls' and couldn t figure out just what they were. Finally asked, they were 3 hard-boiled eggs with something over them, forget what tho. :) Next day we found their second Hog Heaven location in Dover, just north of the trailer place so we ate there too! The Hog Mountain story got me remembering that fun (albiet rather pricey!) trip!!

GG - cute name!

Fritch, TX(Zone 6b)

congrats chele! now on to next step LOL
