Coffee and...For Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005
Well, it is not quite Sunday, but I am doing all my surfing before going to bed.
Bal, That is absolutely the most gorgeous work I have ever seen. And it took how many years? And then how many months/years actual work?
Weed, we did not do anything to DIL either, but were caught in the middle anyway. So glad that we did follow up on the visitation issue. Give her some time, and I am sure that the situation will change. If there is ever another male in her life, she will want to have more time to spend with them, and visitation will be more liberal. As for Grandparents rights, we just finished our battle before that was overturned. Good timing.
For all of you contemplating putting up Christmas decorations, please do it. It some how makes me catch the spirit more. Now this next week I will have to get out and actually do some shopping so I will have something under the tree.
Sometime back, I shared the story of the male dog I had who "used" my tree, unbeknownst to me, until I had to sort through packages to take to a gathering and found them all wet. Well today, had to run some errands, and left Mr. B, as I always do. He has the run of the house, and is always well behaved. When I get back, I notice that there is something yellow on my white tree skirt. Well on further inspection, yeah you guessed it. Mr. B. has claimed the "artificial tree" as his own. So since I trained him with a fly swatter, (just a light tap) when he was doing something I did not want him to do, placed 2 fly swatters under the tree. I will let you know if this works. If not, please does anybody have any suggestions? Am hesitant to even try to put anything under the tree now. I know you are probably sitting there laughing, but after you finish, please help me!!! Maria, are you putting up a tree, if so be warned!! Male dogs, and marking territories!!
For all I did not address, please forgive me. Have had a difficult afternoon/evening, may explain later, but I am off to bed, hopefully to sleep well. Maybe tomorrow will be a brighter day.
Good night all GOBs.
LOL, Defoe, I knowyoudid not think it fun but I am laughing.....No tree for me this year, as a matter of fact I shall be all by myself children ar with theirs and their in-law famlies
defoe,
Sorry to hear about your marking problem with Mr. B. I have no clue about how to *correct* that behavior other than,,,, take some paper towels, blot up the urine, put the paper towels and Mr. B in a small room, shut the door, and say No,,,go back in 10 min. and simply say No, go back 10 min. later, say No and then let him out. I read that in a book How to Get your Dog to do What You Want: A Loving Approach to Unleashing Your Dog's Astonishing Potential by Warren Eckstein. I used it on Mooshka 2 times and never had a problem after that. He says it teaches the dog that you will not put up with that behavior, they will have to and they don't like to be enclosed with their own urine or feces. Don't know if it would help, but maybe it's worth a try? He also says in the book that if you put their food on a paper plate where they do that, it will stop them. It really is a good book that doesn't use the Harsh corrections. Like putting their nose in it.
Good Luck,
Kelly
Well, it's not really Nov. 27th yet, just 11:20 PM on the 26th, but this just might let me put off my terrible confession for one more day.... Being a natural born pessimist, I was sure this would happen sometime, but why did it have to be on MY watch? All the cooking programs these days harp on the theme of NOT stuffing the turkey because of the possibility of salmonella. My family has been serving stuffed turkey for more than 50 years now (they even used to stuff the bird the night before----- an absolute "no-no"!) Well, this year all but one of us ended up with food poisoning! I only got a touch of it, thank heavens, so I was able to work the next day, but DH was sicker than the proverbial dog for two days. The only things we did differently this year were to buy a fresh(?) rather than a frozen turkey and to brine it. I really can't see the brining process being responsible, but maybe the "fresh" turkey wasn't so very fresh? It looked and smelled fine. The other confusing thing is that one of my brothers and SIL brought the meat dressing and the veggies. While the most logical suspect would be the potato stuffing that I put inside the turkey, one of my brothers didn't have any of that and still ended up extremely sick. I've just cooked the bejeebers out of all the left-overs that we have in order to kill off any baddies in there and have volunteered to be the guinea pig since I don't have to work for the next two days. (Well, if I get sick, I'm afaid we're also going to have one sick kitty around here too. Mr. Slim has been franticly clawing at my hands on the keyboard, demanding turkey.) "Interesting" holiday as DH would say, but it still can't hold a candle to the year of the Xmas flu. My SIL who was feeling rotten didn't want to come, but gave in to my brother and consequently infected all of us. My mother was sick for over a month and my father ended up in the hospital with pneumonia. My SIL's husband ended up having to get an IV because he was so dehydrated and the rest of us had a real good time too.
I don't think that I'll live this one down for a long time to come, as I expect the blame will land on me. Oh welll, guess this was the last year of the stuffed turkey. Darn! It really did taste better that way!
From what I've read here, it seems that everone else's holiday went better than mine. Good, I'm glad to hear it! If you don't hear from me for the next few days it's because I'm living in the bathroom and there's no computer there. At least most of my Xmas shopping is done.
McCool,
OMG,,,I'm sorry but I am LOL,,,,,,I have nightmares of the same thing. I feel so bad for you. Probably it was the fresh Turkey. Unforunately you can't always smell it right away. Everyone Has to know it was the Turkey,,,,, if they never got sick before and that's the only thing that was differerent. Hope we hear from you in the morning so we know you aren't spending all your time in the bathroom.
Kelly
Mc Cool, that is so sad......and it doesn't stop for a VERY long time. The secret in stuffing your turkey is ONLY to stuff it with FRESH made dressing, JUST BEFORE you pop it in the oven. Can't stuff the night before....as you see...
Hope you all will be OK. I remember getting food poisoning once and thought I was going to die.........then in a few hours, I was Praying for death.....Oh, my, oh, my.......terrible time.
Good nite again......doggie had to make sissy......that's why I'm back....
Hap
Oh, McCool... what a catastrophe! So sorry.
Goodnight, Gracie
McCool, how awful, I had that happen to me once, I was sick for days., hope you will all be ok very soon
Good Nite, George.
Good morning, Gracie. snicker.....now I'm going to bed.
Oh Mc Cool, how awful for you and your family. I stuffed my Turkey this year just as I have every year. I have also cooked a Turkey in every possible way and never been sick because of it. I did read once that raw eggs in stuffing that was made the night before is a large culprit for sickness the day of Thanksgiving.
I hope that everyone is feeling better now.
I have been so busy with a new mess my DSIL's have caused that I could only skim through. So if I missed something important in someones life please forgive me. I hope all are well and enjoying life tonight.
Casey
Mc C - what a way to diet!!! LOL I gave up stuffing my bird years ago. Just make a big pan of stuffing to serve next to it. DH likes to eat and then leave the food out for snacking later. He just doesn't understand the food poisoning stuff. Maybe if he got it once, he wouldn't want to leave things out!!
Carat- what in the world did the SIL do now?
My oldest turned 30 today. His wife had a surprise get together at a local pub for him. It was all his friends- we weren't invited- which is just as well - I get po'ed when I see all that they drink. DH got his gift for him yesterday while they were shopping for xmas, so guess I am off the hook in that area too. I will call him and wish him a happy BD later this afternoon. I wish our families would get together for birthdays, but we tried it once and it was fun, but the second time was a bust and we haven't done it since!! I feel bad about that. If I don't have it, it doesn't get done, and I am tired of hosting everything (whine, whine)
Defoe - I laughed at what your dog did. I would locate the presents elsewhere!!! We had an old cat who was very sick and one xmas the only place she would 'upchuck' was under the tree. Let me tell you, that tree skirt got burned!! He was put down after xmas - he was our pet for 18 yrs and no one could bear to see him go. We hoped he would magically get well...
I'm craving french toast today - sure wish DH would get hit butt outta bed and make me some!!
Oh at Sam's last night I saw a container of 'chicken salad spread' thrown in amongst some clothes. I wonder if it will be put back in the correct section for some unsuspecting person to pick up and use. I don't know why I didn't remove it and take it to a check out - I wasn't thinking clearly...I guess.
Morning every one,
Sciatia is killing me this morning, am tired of always having to take painkillers, they only help for such a short time only.
It is warmer today, feels so much better than that cold, cold blustery wind. Samson is out of doors but he thinks I have to be with him, does not like to be by himself but I think he has to learn to do just that. If I had a Christmas tree I wonder if he would use it to urinate, he still does not go like a male dog, wonder when he will start if ever LOL.
McCool, I hope your family members are feeling better now, what an awful thing to have happened, I am with Sarv, have not stuffed a turkey for years, bake stuffing i in a pan, the inside of a turkey never looked good enough to put dressing into, I fill turkey it with onions, apples, rosemary and oranges.
What did your SIL do now, Casey? yYou sound upset.
What did DS get for his birthday, Sarv? 30 years old it's a big one
Ann, I am just listenign to Bach's "Air on a G String", a piece to die for, that is what I call music, sorry some of you guys you do not know what you are missing, ;-))

Good Morning everyone!
McCool...I had food poisoning once in my life (Bad tuna!) and I never want to go back...it was horrible. And the pains, OMG...way too much for me to take more than once in my life. Hope the whole family is feeling better real soon.
Hmmm...puppy leaving 'yellow deposits' on the Christmas presents, eh? NOT a nice thing. (~giggle~) I think 'marking territory' is the ONE thing I have against a male pet of the four-legged variety. We've had only a couple of male pets 2 dogs and 1 cat...and never again! (Our male rottie made a BIG mistake when he "marked" *me* (and my chair) as his territory!) Sorry, but in those cases, I've got absolutely NO patience with the "non-violent" methods of training. ;-)
Ernie...I didn't say anything yesterday about the matter of Divorce and grandparents 'rights' because we've been there, done that and are trying desperately NOT to have it happen again with another of our sons. I'm beginning to think that people should have to apply for a license *before* they have children...and that they should have to sign an unbreakable contract declaring that no matter what, the children come FIRST. (There I go...dreaming again! LOL)
For the past couple of weeks I've haven't been keeping up with the 'Coffee' group. And a divorce in the family (along with a shakey reconciliation) has had my mind in a situation similar to the eye of a hurricane...calm for the moment, but you know the other shoe will drop sooner or later and it's best to be prepared. (Did I mention I HATE DIVORCES!!)
Anyway...sorry I'm not chatty or chatting about all the things that everyone is doing and/or going through, but now you know why.
Other than constantly being in a tizzy, I'm trying to clean up a lot of leftover house work that includes sorting a mountain of papers (Tax time is coming, you know. :-O) But it's coming along now and I'm finally to the point where I can see the top of my desk! Hooray!!)
Well...I hear plants in the basement dying of thirst...must do something about that. :-)
TTYL

McCOol ~ sound dreadful and I hope everyone is on the mend. We had fresh turkey too. I think you're more apt to get salmonella from something that wasn't cooked (salad, appetizers, dip, or utensil contamination) than from the turkey. It can be hard with multiple cooks or kitchen users to keep track of what's been where.
sarv ~ The chicken spread in the clothes at Sams makes my stomach cramp just thinking about it. I'm sure that happens often enough. Ugh!
CARAT~tis the season as my best friend always says (*rolling eyes* for family incidents)
And julie and maria ~ hope things start looking up today!
It's cold and sunny here, a lazy day, trying to think up some inspiration for Christmas. Maybe I'll make some cards or look for yarn for a scarf or something. Making things makes me look forward to the holiday. Shopping is out of the question, it makes me very stressed and depressed.
Well didn't get my french toast, but did get bacon and eggs finished off by the ever trusty pumpkin pie (only one more piece to eat) I just love pumpkin, so it won't be a problem.
Maria, have you ever tried a chiropractor? I thought they were quacks until I was desperate enough to try one- now they are my heros!! I too hate relying on pills for everything... I take an allegra D each morning and wish I could get off that. I try, but then I suffer and go back on them. I think they are addicting! DH got DS an air hose reel for his BD. I fact he bought one for himself and another for the other DS for xmas.
Julie - I understand the divorce thing. It hasn't happened in our immediate house (yet), but it wouldn't surprise me if it did happen. My brother is on his third marriage and we never knew he was having problems until the divorce was a done deal! My mother still worries about him and he is 48!
Gonna crank up the xmas music and decorate the tree - wish you all were here to help me!!
Have been to three Dr. about it, my internist, orthopedic surgeon, and chiropractor, the first gave me a shot and prescribed Ibu, the second one could not find any thing seriously wrong, a small muscle in my backside has weakened, starting with helping my husband with lifting him as he was about to fall or holding him for a long time so he would not end up on the floor, sometimes I could not hold him any longer, he was nearly 6' tall to my 5'5.
Nothing helped went to a chiropractor he made me feel better but now with Samson and also having had pneumonia I have not been for quite a whille, will see him tomorrow.
Maria, I'm glad you are feeling enough better from the pneumona to see the chiropractor again. I know your pain must be more than aggravating!
McCool... what a dreadful thing to happen anytime much less on a holiday.
I hope to get caught up with everyone this coming week, even though I still have loads of packing to finish. My sister left this morning for her home in Florida.
Babs you were right she will heal I think she is tougher than I am twenty or so years ago I had wrist reconstruction because all but two of the ligaments that bind wrist parts togeather were broken . At the time I was so lucky to be refered to a great DR who did this procedure only 4 times before he was a leader and as far as I am concerned a God as the fix before he pioneered this was to fuse it solid. Calling him on the phone 10 years later about an elbow problem he remembered me wow any way when I saw him he said as he looked at my wrist I am ashamed to have done this to your wrist if we did this now you would not have stayed in the hospital for a week and would nothave 18 inches of scar just three little cuts and an overnight stay if any. Hey he did the best of what was available at the time and gave me reliefe from continual pain and the use of my wrist and hand again . Just a great man and a tip of the hat to those that do those things.
Sarv you don't host every thing I do lol we don't do the family birthday thing anymore because sil decided she didn't want any more birthdays. Now that her kids children have birthdays we do birthdays for them mostly because it is convienant for us to deliver their savings bonds lol don't see them much the rest of the year lol they are busy and live so far one a mile away the other a half and the roads are paved lol.
Maria did no one ever tell you Goldens must be trained to hike their leg when you first take him out it is important to stand by a tree and lift your leg and Say Sam hike just as you do it by spring he will have the idea. Austrians are funny listening to air most people breath it lol.
Julie our oldest son was two months away from the altar when his to be showed to many of her true colors. She has spent more than 10 years trying to hook him again but he traded her in on nine bird dogs and hunting faraway places. LOL she is with him this week end at one of those and he is hunting phesants she is hunting him and btw she can't shoot worth a darn lol pardon me if I am skeptical but I have seen her fish lol. Daughter is getting married next summer and I am bitting my lip.
I cooked a pork roast yesterday and have to say it was either a poor choice of roast or I cooked it wrong because it was dry and I don't know how to make gravy. Lots of applesause helped it out so all was not lost. My stuffingless turkey was much better. Did I ever mention I don,t like this cooking and cleaning program lol.
Have a good day all .oh the pic is of Pete Golden number 8 he was a champion with a heart bigger than life when I get excited I call Andy Pete guess I should have just named Andy after him. Opps the patient is up better go make her breakfast before I get the sack. Ernie
Hi folks,
Thanks for the condolences! I think everyone is feeling better, but DH says he was up and down all last night too. I cooked all the left-overs half to death and had some for supper last night with no ill effects so far. Now I'm eying the huge crudite tray my youngest brother brought. It's destined to be turned into stir-fry as I don't want anyone getting a second bout if the raw veggies turn out to be the culprit. I don't remember who said it, but apparently I gave the impression that we'd stuffed the turkey the night before. We DIDN'T! We got up early and stuffed it just before it went in the oven. I just thought it was ironic that my mother used to do that years ago and nobody ever got sick.
Sorry for everyone going through family travails. I used to do family counseling and am still convinced that in some cases divorce is the best thing for all concerned, including the kids. Who wants to grow up in a war zone?
Darius, glad you're over the halfway mark in your packing. I hate moving ---- found out that moving a store versus home was even worse and had to do it three times so far. Isn't it amazing the amount of stuff we amass without hardly realizing it? At least moving can be a good time to do a purge of some of the debris that accumulates. (Usually, that is. My mother's still complaining that my father even insisted on bringing along the trash (from the wastepaper bins, etc.) when they bought this house!)
Maria, I hope that the chiropractor can help relieve your pain. Sciatica is no fun at all. Does your chiroprator use electro stimulation or just massage and manipulation?
My poor veggie garden is looking awful since we still haven't gotten around to tilling it under. We had such mild weather so long that the nasturtiums and marigolds were still blossoming away and I hate to pull them out as long as that's the case. There's still snow on the ground here, but it's supposed to get up into the sixties later this week and hopefully the last of the garden work can be done.
Ernie, cut pics of your GD. I hope you'll get to see more of her as time goes by. Glad your wife is feeling better.
Robert, I'm envious of your talent! The woodcarving is great.
Everyone with male pets ---- yeah, been there. I'm always afraid of that with a male animal, but our most recent acquisition ("Slim" who's beginning to look like a furry little blimp) has been very good so far. Hopefully we won't have any problem with him and the Xmas tree. I just have to remember to put the hardiest decorations around the bottom of the tree because he does have a habit of helping himself to "toys" anywhere he finds them. He even helped himself to one of the Fimo clay "cherries" I was making for my candles, thank heavens he didn't try to eat it!
Hi to all the other regular posters on this thread, wherever you are! I'd better get a move on now. It's time to start making the cookie dough.
Don't worry, Ernie, I think you've got job security! Nothing like having your housemate helpless to put you in charge!! Sorry about the pork roast, sometimes you just get a toughy. If you've got leftovers, just slice it up and bury it in Kraut and put it in the slow cooker for a good long while. Glad to hear DW is feeling better. Now, as for Maria standing outside on one leg with her other leg lifted at a tree to show Samson how.....she might just prefer to let him squat!!!
McCool, what a dreadful aftermath for your Thanksgiving. I would be inclined to blame the turkey, if it weren't for the fact that food handling is a risky business and it only takes a little ecoli to knock down a whole lot of people. One person not washing their hands well, either at home or food prep in a market, can do it. I don't stuff a bird anymore either, although I prefer stuffing cooked inside. It takes longer to roast, and is more dangerous. If you cook the neck, wing tips etc. and use that broth for the stuffing, it adds the flavor without having to cook inside the bird. I hope the illnesses passes quickly and there are no long term effects. It is an awful experience. If you don't get sick, then it was somebody else's fault!!
Julie, divorce affects the entire family circle, and especially the kids. That's why I waited until my kids were grown to take that final step. Most couples keep their problems to themselves. My coworkers thought I had a wonderful spouse because he sent huge floral arrangements to my office.....usually after a long drunken night of being berated and told how stupid I was, and threats of physical abuse. It's embarassing to reveal those kinds of things to people who are relative strangers, and maybe worse to reveal it to family.
I agree there should be some kind of license before couples are allowed to get married or have children. What ever happened to that program they used to have in school, where the kid had to lug around a ten pound sack of flour or sugar and take care of it like a baby? I thought that was a great idea. Maybe things will settle down some over the Holidays, but I wouldn't count on it. More family squabbles arise at this time of year then any other, and if there's already tension, watch out! And you walk gently through any conversations with either party because if they reconcile, your words come back to haunt you.
Casey, say to yourself, We're moving next year, We're moving next year, We're moving........and don't give anybody your new address once you leave!!! Tell us the gory details, the last we heard your SIL's kid was in the slammer and it was all YOUR fault! You heartless beast! Letting someone take the blame for their own mistakes, what are you thinking???? LOL I know this isn't funny, but honestly, some people's relatives ought to be dropped on a desert island somewhere so they can't inflict their miseries on the rest of their family. Especially ours....
Went out for a nice breakfast, and I'm heading for a nice nap. Ugh, those pillows I picked up last week are like big bags of cement, I can't believe there are feathers in them, feels more like sand! Why didn't I notice that when I got them?? Taking them back ASAP. But not today, it's raining cats and dogs. Better than snow, we'd have a good 12" if it were freezing ..
Sarv, if I didn't host events, the only time we'd see anyone is Thanksgiving and Christmas. I've started a new celebration day which can be anytime during the year, it's Cake Day....I bake a few favorites and everybody shows up at some point, because they all love cake...friends and family and it doesn't interfere with anyone elses birthday, mother's day, anniversary or other special event, and doesn't require a lot of table setting, food prep or gift buying. It's been fun...and you can do it more than once a year if you like! And it's very relaxed because there are no expectations!!
Have a sunny day, see you this evening....
M5, had to chuckle at "Cake Day"... sure solves some problems! I usually host a "Soup Day" party in the 2nd week of January when everyone is sick and tired of all the rich holiday foods. Just a good hearty soup, crusty bread and a mixed green salad.
LOL, I cannot fathom that Maria would want to demonstrate to Samson how to hike his leg!
RATS! a stupid junk mail popped in and I lost my post...... back later....... gotta get the bird in the oven.......
I'm still waiting to hear if Maria is lifting her leg - that should help the siatica LOL Do you have to train DH that way too??? ( I just wish he would 'sit') LOL LOL
Just got back from Sears- my battery is going on my car. We have had the car AND the original battery for ten years. DH is such a cheap sake - he thought there was no charge to install the battery and when he found out it would cost $12, he told the kid he would do it himself! Now we have the old battery here along with about 15 others that he is collecting- for what, I don 't know.
Hey, that idea about the 'cake day' and the 'soup day' are both great ideas!! I'd probably combine them...have to have dessert!
DS birthday is today and he isn't answering the phone (I know he is home too) He has crazy hangups - hates to talk on the phone etc. Oh well, his loss I guess - although it bugs me no end!!!
Ernie - I'm impressed that you give savings bonds and to your neices/nephews!! Wow, we don't give anything to relatives that far off. Costs me an arm and a leg to just do my own two kids, their spouses, and one DGS. I've wanted to start a savings program for my DGS for college, but alas, downsizing and retirement put a halt to that! One of my disappointments in life.
It is raining cats and dogs here - with snow on the ground. What a soggy mess. Sure to be fog tomorrow morning. But we had such a dry summer, that our earth needs replenishing of the moisture.
Gonna try call DS again. Take care.
...have a habit of helping himself to "toys" anywhere he finds them.
LOL It's even worse when our cat decides she wants to play with my Nitroglycerine pill bottle! Never know until I need it where it's going to be.
:-D Now, I just keep several bottles around...she won't steal ALL of them at one time.
Hi to everyone who has poked their heads in since I was here last!
~julie~
Maria, you GOTTA take a pic of you training Sampson.....That'll make the NYTimes for sure....
Now as far a food and spoilage. I think some of you know I'm a retired chef and there are some new things on the horizon for the comsumers. They are little tabs that go on ref/frozen foods.
The little thermometer will only go UP in temp.......so........if the super market lets things thaw and then try to refreeze, the little thingy on the pkg will rigester over 10-15 degrees ABOVE zero. or even higher...UGH>. Commercial freezers are set to 10 below zero for long lasting freezing capabilities. Also ref. items will also have the Therm....It will show you if the item has gone over 38 Degrees which puts it in the Danger Zone. How many times have you looked in the back or in the front portions of markets to see deliveries sitting there with no attempt to put them in the ref. or freezer. The freezer stuff sits right in front of the freezer showcases for heavens knows how long.
The Danger Zone for food is anywhere between 39- 140. Either keept food below 39 or above 140. At these temps, bacteria grows Very slowly. So forget putting food out on the counter either to defrost or to "cool down" before you put it away after dinner. Food must be chilled back to 39 as soon as possible. If you keep food out for a buffet....4 hours is tops. Or you know what can happen then...sicky-pooeys......
Watch for the new tabs, I have seen a few. Commercially they are used for the boxes that come into kitches, but are not used too much in the field for the consumer's benefit. But they will come.
Cooking and Sanitation Lesson over for this morning...tune in later for an update....heheh
Chef Nancy Lee, CEC.....(Certified Executive Chef) really....
Back again - upstairs is all decorated for the holidays- just need to do the downstairs, but that is gonna have to wait until tomorrow- I'm pooped!!
Finally got ahold of DS - he said he stayed home on his birthday. Ohhhh mannnn, I bet there were fireworks - his DW had planned a surprise birthday bash at the local pub. Ohhhhheeeee, I bet she was a steamin!!! Don't think I will talk to her about it until she has time to cool down. Oh lordeee, they deserve each other......
Happ - that thermometer thing is great news. Hope they start using it for everything!! I'm impressed!!!
I'm hungry - nothing on the counter. whaaaa
Hi All, checking in for the first time today. Up early, dogs barking, and arm hurting. Took DM to church, home sandwiches for lunch. Had a nap, and it's almost time to take DGD home. Haven't had any more trouble with Mr. B and the Christmas tree. When he noticed the fly swatters under the tree, he is giving it a wide berth.!!
McCool, so sorry to hear of the food poising. I had it one time, and ended up in the hospital. The stomach pains from that is worse than childbirth. So don't ever want to have it again. In my case, it was salad dressing that had been left out of the refrigerator.
I am sorry for anyone who has experienced divorce themselves or in their family. They can say it is an amiciable one, but have never truly see one myself. There are always resentments, and grudges. A favorite saying I heard one time goes"keep your words sweet, you don't know when you may have to eat them". So true.
Okay Carat, tell us your sil story. Don't keep us in suspense.
Well, I have to get going, DGD is due home at 5 pm, and have an hour to drive. Will check in later.
To those I didn't address, read all posts, just short of time.
Bonnie
Oh, oh, there goes my diet....LOL....too late....
That's why I don't diet until after Jan 1st!
Did it! Got the small piece routed out. Great help using a router to get all the background wood out instead of a gouge. After the dust settles I can start whittling on it. Just had what I could call a "Sarv Lunch". A slice of toasted cranberry walnut bread and turkey gravy, finished off with a PB & J sandwich and vanilla coke. May have to go to the store for Oreos though. LOL DW and friends just left to see the Johnny Cash movie. I hear it's very good.
Re: turkey stuffing, we always have it in the bird, and the extra gets cooked in a pan. Frozen birds are the norm tho. DW,(a RN ) says they are safer since they are flash frozen when they are 'dispatched', tho I think tofu would be safer yet.
Darius, that's whats left after a trip with contents, and with stuff in storage too ? Boy oh boy my friend, if ever a person needed a barn you are she. I hope everything finds safe harbor.
Time for a short nap, and out to whittle.
Good jump start, Robert. I assume you have a plunge router?
I only wish that's all my stuff to move. That's just the stuff for storage here and does not include my furniture and the other almost empty bookcases.
Here's pile #1 for FL, the tool pile, so I can help Molly build. Not all tools are stacked there yet (compound 12" chop box, compressor, bench saw, etc.).
Then there's all the contents from my walk-in pantry (not fully packed yet) in another room, also destined for FL. Plus maybe 50-75 prennials outside in pots. Oh, and personal stuff for 4-6 months like clothes, computer...)
Your answer what I thought of Ernie's suggestion how to show Samson how to urinate as male dogs suppose to know, I will send Ernie a plane ticket to come here at once and demonstrate, any one who wants to participate in the lesson I will send you air fare also .;-))));-))))

LOL, Maria... that gave me a good laugh!
Yo Maria - I want to come too!!!!
Having shrimp for dinner= sauted in garlic...yum. Still have some turkey, but just can't face it!!
Well Darius, I don't have room to talk. If all my stuff was to be piled up it wouldn't be any smaller than yours, and that doesn't include the 'family stuff'. You are one up on me (at least), I don't have the bottom half of a mannequin !!! Was the top half too risque' ? One of those big shipping containers would be nice, but moving them could be tough.
Robert, I sure wish we could get "pods" (shipping containers) here but I'm too far out in the boonies.
I always intended to make a hammered copper inset for the mannequin and use it as an ice bucket for parties.... she stood in the corner of the summer pavilion at my house in Asheville. My niece painted her toenails purple!
So far, McCool, Chiropractor has given only manipulations, said as soon as possible will have massages, never said anything about electro treatments, have to ask him about that.
Once again, Robert, that some nice whittling
Sarv, save me some shrimp, love it just like that!
You have an awful lot of packing, Darius, just get there safely
