Julie, who makes it?

Mon y'all ... let's all go to Julie's for supper! Hey Julie ... SURPRISE! yoohoo you've got company! :-D
I've got a little shark ... or is it sharp vacuum that I wear over my shoulder. It has great attachments and does a great job. Will have to check that out. Thanks for the info. I hate to do windows. I'm lucky, though ... I don't have to look at em! ;)

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Bra's, I wear them so it looks like I need one. Otherwise I just go as the older brother around here.

The new Honda Element van/SUV thingy uses the fact that the entire inside is cleanable with a hose and they demostrate that at the dealer ship. Dont think the seats are to comfortable and I just kept thinking that if I put all the dirty dishes in there and they got clean then they would have something there... Ugly vehicle...

Bal, I am a bit worried about me. It is amazing how you can tell me how you fix some of the most revolting foods and I still want to come up and visit while staying for dinner.....

Can't have chicken again. Kids will throw it back I think....

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Here's mine...I didn't measure it but I think it's about 12-14" long. The only thing I *don't* like about it is that when I set it on the counter, it tends to tip over. (Bad Engineering, IMO).

The school closing just appeared on the crawl on the bottom of the TV screen. I wonder how many other kids walked to school or are at bus stops waiting? Never seen them cancel so late!

Seems a bit irresponsible to me. What about kids whose parents are gone to work? Was ANYONE at the schools? Around here, they tend NOT to cancel school, they just cancel school buses. but parents of kids who are close enough to go on their own find out quickly that there is no point. No work gets done - not even special help. The kids are just babysat. But at least they aren't roaming around without their parents even knowing.

Oh no! Just got to where you told us about the vandalized buses. That's awful.

Sorry folks...these nails are really screwing me up...got any manicurists in the crowd?

Try being a musician. Then you cut them off. Tee! Hee! they never get a chance to show much white. Wouldn't know what to do with nails if I had them.

And now - further news about the school buses. Hard to believe the warped minds that would do something like that. Sure hope they find out who it was. But also thankful that nobody was injured or worse.

5:50 local time now. I've been reading for nearly 30 minutes. Will send this message and check back later after my board meeting. Gotta go make dinner. DH is off to Halifax over night.

Julie, Casey... y'all need to identify what "here's mine" means for Elaine, please, since she cannot see the photos.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Casey...your's has a much longer hose than mine. I like it!
~julie~

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Point taken...sorry Elaine. Just took it for granted since the subject was steamers you'd know what we were talking about.

~julie~

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

OH Darius, Yes, thank you. I am so sorry Elaine. And all I could think of was thank goodness we are female.

I posted a picture of my ladybug steamer machine. And Julie posted one of her steamer machine....

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Julie my steamer sits on the ground and holds 2 gallons in the boilertank. I really enjoy having the gauge to let me know when its ready and the light for when the water is getting low....

Oh I am dying here still, really should get my mind out of the gutter......

Hmmmm, sounds kinky to me! LOL (did I spell that right?)
Oh my goodness y'all ... I hear rain! :) :) :)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

RAIN? Are you serious? I know you said it has been a long time, IO1.

Hope you were not offended by my post about descriptions. I think we are very priviledged to have someone with your skills, caring and intelligence as part of our group and the least we can do is remember to describe things. It may take up a bit... no doubt we are ALL out of practice!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Rain for you Elaine.. Great.

I know its been raining in York, SC most of the day. Did you get much of it Darius when it passed over you???

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

I must have slept through the heaviest rain overnight. The creek is up so I know it rained hard but today has just been a drizzle all day. Be icy roads in the morning, and black ice tonight.

Well, it's just a drizzel here, but hey, it's RAIN!
Now for the next line of business. This is something I've really wanted to say and now seems an appropriate time. I'm not sensative at all. Blind to me is normal. I'll ask questions and make crazy remarks, soooo y'all don't be sensative either. That's just me and the way we do things in my house. This is, after all, an extension of my house, right? Great, now that's cleared up. I knew I could count on y'all to understand. That's why I joined this wacky group. :)
... Elaine

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

I had my friend go over to the house and take video of the stream so I can see where the natural flow is suppose to be and where it is going......She said its about 15 feet across, a good 12" to 18" deep and running fast. The reason for the roots on several trees being exposed is very clear now though. They are expecting a freeze tonight also.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Casey, what reason did you give her for wanting her to do that? She still is clueless that you have purchased the property, right?

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

The school has fixed enough buses to cover the routes for tomorrow, so school is back on. Thank Goodness!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Oh MG, NO she knows now.

I had to hire a few inspectors to go and check things out for me. Well she had to be her and go over to see what was up and why someone was at the empty house. One of the inspectors told her that the house had been sold and the other piped in with ya some yahoo's from Las Vegas of all places. Well since she is a former Yahoo, she let him in on a few secrets and then called me from her cell phone screaming in excitement....

Now that she knows, I have abused her camera so much it wont download to the computer so she is now having to do it all by video. Her birthday is just before Christmas so DH is going to buy her a new camera while he is down there and give it to her for an early birthday and christmas present.....

Quoted
If caught and convicted, the vandals could face up to five years in prison and $7,500 in fines for criminal mischief. They may also face more serious
charges for putting lives in danger.
Well, excuse me ... but BOO HISS that's just not enough where kids are concerned! :-(

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Oh I think that 5 years and 7500.00 for each child that was scheduled to be on every bus sounds like a better idea.....

Yeah, me too, Carat. Well, actually, I can think of some other things ... but can't properly describe them here? The admen police might get me! :)

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

I want to see them charged with attempted MURDER of each and every child that was supposed to be on each of the damaged buses. You have to remember, these brake lines were cut in such a way as to fail only after they had been in use for a while!

70 students per trip bus
x 24 buses damaged
----------------------------
1680 students
+ 24 drivers
----------------------------
1704 counts of Attempted Murder just for the first of 3 morning runs!

Hey, save me a taste, Babs!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

We had some teenagers tag a few of the statues that are part of the freeway beautification program here. When the mayor was asked on camera to make a formal statement concerning the incident, he said, that when the little shisters are caught he is going to suggest that they have their thumbs cut off and that should solve the problem of tagging from that individual again. A few groups tryed to make a big deal over it and rake the mayor over the coals but when they discovered that 90% of the voting public supported his idea that backed down.
Oh our Mayor is the former lawyer for a few of the more undesirable mobsters our town is so famous for.....

146 posts in one day! She who will not be named has set a record, I think.

Ya, like I said, one count for every seat on every bus! And a long long spell looking at bars. I fully agree that we lost control when we were no longer allowed to smack our younguns. The ones who abuse will still abuse but the rest have their hands tied. If I had a nickel for every time one of mine got a swat, I could probably replace my old Toyota, or get a complete body/face/etc. lift!!!

I'm heading for the couch and the heating pad, made stuffed pork chops, mashed potatoes and corn I froze this summer for dinner. Blueberry pie on the counter, but be sure to put a dollop of Ben and Jerry's vanilla ice cream on it while it's still warm. Now, which one of them died of a coronary????? LOL

OH GALS- have I got a good one for you!! New DIL invited us over for TG. We had already been invited over to other sons house but they (other son) were going to invite the new DIL/son too. Well new one didn't want to come as they were having other family there. I told new DIL that we would come to their house as we were at the others last year. DS came over tonight and said new DIL really didn't want to have us over - she just wanted to lay around and not cook for anyone. NOW, I can't count on my fingers and toes ALL the times I've had them over and fed them.....Is this a joke or what> No way would I go there now....(but her wacky mother is going) This probably doesn't make any sense to everyone, but I am really ticked by the whole situation... Holidays always make me unhappy....

Oh another one. I asked DS what DGS was going to do on snow days for day care. DS said - 'he'll come here!" I don't think so.......Roads are supposed to be really bad tomorrow here - we'll see what happens....

Made those cookies in a pkg and man oh man were they good!!! There's a couple left- help yourself. Meat loaf was tasty too....I'll have some Ben and Jerry's please...

I'm cold - gonna get the pj's on and curl up with the heating pad and a good book. DH and I are cruisin for a bruisin. He's being a butt head - talking stupid talk- which I hate...

Oh meezersfive, sure hope your back gets better.
Babs ... I love the buffalo meat. We had it out in Montana and thought it was very tasty.
sarv, you think you got problems ... my family is already fussing and fuming over Christmas. I just wish the holidays could be over. Why oh why can't I just stay home where I want to be? I thought when I got to be 50 I could just please me for a change. Oh well. Sorry everyone. Just needed to vent a bit.

Whew,

Still can't catch up,,,LOL

sarv,,,
Nioxin is a good product and can really help thinning hair,,,but,,,,you really need to use the whole system to get the full benefits of it. It is kind of pricey and you have to do some things with it that take some time. I get some customers that try just the shampoo and treatment and think it's not doing much. I try to explain that the whole system is designed to work together and the biggest benefits are gained from using it the way it's supposed to be used,,,,but they just don't want to spend the money.
So, if you are willing to spend the money it's a good system of products to use. If not, you could try just the shampoo and treatment, but all of the benefits won't be there.

MG,

Horrible nightmare,,,,Thank God the kids were o.k. Ya know, what in the heck is with people? Just don't get it.

Y'all that was a pitiful rain we had. :( It lasted all of about 30 mins or so. Just a trickle. We REALLY need some rain. Things are so dry down here. Yes, I know ... we have those lovely temps ... but honestly the plants really need the rain! There's nothing quite like a watering from the Lord. :)
I tried the Nioxin. It didn't work for me, but then I wasn't real faithful. Hated that yucky stuff you have to use every few hrs. I think it was 3 times a day? Anyway, I couldn't keep my hair decent. Of course, it's not decent thin either. LOL Oh well. Ever since my friend with cancer lost her hair ... I promised myself I'd never say "I hate my hair." That brings a whole new meaning to the word. :) *counting blessings *
Well, I got the sweet potatoes fix, the turnips cooked and was going to make mac and cheese ... but when I looked over the list for tomorrow's TG list for DH's work dinner I noticed there was a lack of green veggies. Well, I just hate it when things don't balance out. Decided to do butterbeans instead of the mac and cheese as there was already a lot of starches. Got all that done plus the wash. Hey, I even kept up with all y'all! Hugs to everyone I've missed today. Have a wonderful night.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Butterbeans, Yum! Haven't had any in years (not good ones, anyway)!

Well, I'll just cook you some next time you come then ... by gollie! :)

Central, WI(Zone 4a)

Elaine,

Nioxin can be a pain in the butt, I'll admit that. You really have to make the commitment to use it all and correctly,,,pretty hard though sometimes,,,,don't know if I could do it,,,LOL

Wow,,you sure were a busy bee today,,,wish I had that much ambition,,jeez

Uh oh, sarv, hope things get better soon at your place. I had a bit of a shouting match with my DH this morning too, but I'm always the one who's most uncomfortable with the situation if we don't get things sorted out quickly.

101, you CAN do things your own way, but you'll have to put your foot down, really mean it, and deal with the consequences! Sometimes it really is worth it and other times it probably isn't.

Ewww, lutefisk. Honestly, I shouldn't say that since I don't think I've actually tried it, but I've tried gefiltefish and THAT was enough to last me at least two centuries, thank you very much! ( and I have Swedish in-laws who also say "ewww, lutefisk") Speaking of fish, I made broiled halibut steaks for supper tonight and made sure to give my mother a taste (she usually wants to eat earlier than we do, so she tends to eat whatever I cooked the night before.) The good news is that she's decided that halibut is NOT the fish that she hates (this week).

School bus vandalism. I can't really get my head around this one. Why in the world would somebody want to do that? I'm glad that they figured it out quickly and nobody really got hurt.

I've wondered about those little steamer units myself. They sounded good, but the ads can make almost anything sound good. If we can ever afford it, I intend to get all the second floor windows replaced with the tilt-in kind. I don't care HOW dirty they get, I refuse to sit on the windowsill and hang out over empty space like my grandmother did just to clean the outside windows!

Just took a look back up this thread to refresh my memory. Oh yeah, bras. Well, I don't have too many options. I have what a friend of mine twenty or thirty years ago described as "naval beaters". She said (and I quote) " If I tried to jog, I'd beat myself to death." I'd never used the underwire variety until about three years ago. My mother is even worse. She actually told me that she wants me to burn (or otherwise dispose of) her bras when she dies. She said "Nobody else has to see these." (meaning triple D cups). I'm close to that myself now and one of my nieces seems to have inherited the trait as well.

Hope everyone who's been feeling bad is feeling better. Those of you with snow ---- please keep it there, I'm nowhere near ready for that! I still haven't gotten around to taking the tomato cages out of the garden, raking out the vines, and tillilng the thing. We had pretty high winds today and my Harbor Freight greenhouse took a little trip. The base is somewhat mangled and the door came off, but I'm hoping we can fix it without too much trouble.

I'm sure that I've missed topics and people, no offense meant, but it's time to get back to work.

Good night all.

Well Darius, I have to admit ... there really are no GOOD buttterbeans nowadays. I'm still living back in the days when Grandma had her big gardens and we picked them. Now there are so many hibreds (that word doesn't look right ... you figure it out!) anyway, they're really no good. I'll just do the best I can with what I've got! I use to put up butterbeans, cream corn, peas, tomatoes, and green beans. The veggies just aren't the same anymore. *sigh* We quit eating like that anyway. Taught the DH to love broccoli and asparagus. He taught me to love spinach. LOL Now who said you couldn't teach an old dog to learn a new trick? I also eat grits now which I wouldn't touch until 2 years ago. I'm turning into a true southerner ... and I was born in the south! Elaine LOL :)...

Yak, Yak, Yak, good golly miss molly. I don't know what number my post will be , but this has got to be a record thread!! I have spent about 3 hours catching up. Now that is just insane. Do any of you ever do anything else, Yes, Sarv, I did read your list of accomplishments, and patting you on the back as I type. Just kidding, with the weather some of you are having, glad we have DG. We had a 50 degree difference in temperatures from yesterday to today. Last night we had the doors open, and a breeze blowing through the family room, tonight, heats on and the ceiling fan going. We had some of the little ice-snow type things today, just flurries, but honest to god snow.

Well after grocery shopping ( which I hate) came home and prepared 2 dishes to take to the TG potluck. Went and it was a wonderful meal. I try to keep it under control, only had one plate and a bite of dessert. Something I thought was Italian cream cake, then saw when I was collecting my dishes to leave, that it was a store bought German Chocolate. Sure hope that the bakery mislabeled it, as it WAS NOT GERMAN CHOCOLATE!!

We are an ecclectric bunch, bras, generators, steamers, Scandavian cuisine, horrible bus stories. I don't see how anybody could get bored in this forum, it is so diverse.

I won't even attempt to comment on individual posts, except to say that I hope tomorrow is a slower day.

I am off to bed, and hope to continue the good sleep I have been having. Hope everyone has a good night, and awakes refreshed and rarin to go. I think I have a slow day tomorrow, but it could turn into a marathon of jobs.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Okay, since there has been so much mention of bras, I suggest y'all read my old thread on bras linked to breast cancer, especially underwire bras.

Yeah, I know there's a new thread, but it's not tomorrow yet.
