Texas Statewide Roundup - April 29th, 2006

Crossville, TN

YOOHOO....I am now in Houston!!...Just had some lovely homemade soup at Marylyns! See ya soon. Jo

Jacksonville, TX(Zone 8b)

Connie-

I don't think that Dave has a "bio" out there anywhere. There's more personal stuff here, there, and everywhere :)

He currently lives in Bryan, (moved there just 5 months ago), although he and his family tend to move around a lot. Born in WI, moved to TX when he was 2, then to TN when he was 7 where he stayed until he was an adult.

Dave has been gardening since he can remember, and has been programming since he was about 13 or so. DG started in Aug of 2000 when his passion for gardening and handywork in programming collided. DG started as a hobby, and grew from there.

He has a wife and children. He's 30 years old.

Well, I could go on and on about how great he is, but I'm a little biased :)

You go Trish! Toot your man's horn if you want! LOL Wow, I never realized how young you guys were. I cant wait to meet you guys too.
Maggie you and Marylee are not the only one with car problems. I took Ruby on a trial run to see where I am going to meet Shelia and Posie. My friend who went with me (Thank God) left his car at the church, when we changed seats Ruby got a high temperture amd threw up all over the church parking lot! I was never so embarresed. It was Easter sunday, the church grounds were crowded and I am blowing my horn so I could get parked before she stopped completely. Well she just cost me 400.00! I asked the mechanic it she would make it to Austin. He tells me he is "pretty sure she would, once he get thru with her" Yeah! Sure! I said. The Rental Car people is picking me up in the morning to get a car for this weekend. lol I know gas is expensive, thank God I only work ten minutes away. I will just chalk this trip up as cost of entertainment, but I cant go anyplace else this year. lol

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Yeah, I figure this will be money well spent. Centrally located, get to meet lots of my DG friends without having to traipse all over the state. Except, I like to traipse all over the state, lol!

Dallas, TX

I cant wait to see you Maggie! :)

Conroe, TX(Zone 9a)

Huge hugs, Sylvia!!

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I don't have car problems, but I do have list problems. Or should I say memory problems. I made a list of everything I need to take (long list) and I can't find it. Had it last night. GRRRRRRRRRRR. I could make another one, but I know that one's in this house somewhere. An extra plant goes to the person who can tell me where I put my list.lol

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Silver, are you bringing your plants in a larger box? Maybe it is in there. Or have you already been scoping out the car as to how you are going to get everyone & everything in it? Maybe in there. Just trying to help! Personally, I use a clip board, full size one. As long as I don't take the list off the clipboard til I am headed out the door, I find I loose a lot fewer lists! hehehe Good luck!

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I check the car and look all around outside. I know I had it last night at the breakfast table because I was making tags there. But it's not there now.

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Where did you go after that. I sometimes try to retrace my steps. Could it be with the markers?

If retracing my steps don't work I find myself steaming mad at myself.

Blessings,
Sandy ^8^

Our room is at Aggieland Knights Inn 104 Texas Ave S
College Station, TX 77840 800-444-6835
We are going tomorrow evening and coming home Sunday. Found a good price.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

The markers are still on the table. I am steaming mad at myself. DH is usually very good at finding stuff, but even he can't find it. Well, it's just one more item in the Marschall triangle.lol It'll probably surface after the RU.
I'm glad you got a room. You'll be glad you came.
Mary Lee

Dallas, TX

Marylee Have you checked your purse?

Dallas, TX

When I lose stuff it usually where it is supposed to be. lol

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

It won't fit in my purse. I wrote it on a 8 x 11 tablet. It's not on the shelf where I usually keep it. DH even looked behind the computer to see if it fell back there. It seems to have evaporated.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Is it with your ice chest drinks, etc. that you would be gathering at the last minute?

I know you put it somewhere that you wouldn't loose it! LOL! I am sure that doesn't help..sorry. LOL!
Maybe if you sit down and start trying to write down again what you need to bring it may trigger a recollection of where you had it last.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

This is so ridiculous to lose this list. It's not in the ice chest or the beach bag I packed with clothes. You're right, I put it some place where I wouldn't lose it. Now if I could just figure out where that is....lol

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Did you move your tag materials off the table to eat and maybe gathered it up too? Is it with a map or directions you printed out?

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Could it be in the pocket of what you were wearing?

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

The tags are still on the table. I'm glad you mentioned the map though. I printed out a map yesterday, now what did I do with that? AAAAAAHHHHHH! I give up. I'm going to bed! It's not in my pocket because it's a 8 x 11 tablet. DH thinks I took it to New Braunfels yesterday when we took the car to the shop. I hope not. I'll call them tomorrow.

Crossville, TN

A sure fire method to find what you are looking for is to...start looking for something else...and when you can't find THAT...the other will show up!! Works for me.

Another thing that is handy to bring if you plan to get seeds is little envelopes or plastic bags to put them in. Jo

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I should be picking up a 5' folding table this afternoon....would there be any need for this tomorrow? If so I can just leave it in my truck to bring.

:) Kim

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

I was reading up on the thread, trying to get a fix on the dog policy. It seems a bit iffy. I'd love to be able to bring my (~ 20 lb.) guy along, but if it's discouraged or would make people uncomfortable, I certainly don't want to push the point. I'd rather everyone had a good time, of course!

I think it'd be best if pets stayed at home...

best,
dave

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Does anybody know if there might be anything to attach a tarp to at the pavilion? We have a large tarp we can bring just in case we need it, but if there's nothing to tie to to, we might as well leave it at home.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Silver, I am bringing 2 but I am also bringing bungie cards to go around the columns to hold it up.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Mary Lee, I seem to remember it having a metal roof with bare supports underneath. But I know it has columns, but they are pretty far apart. But the whole building is very large (maybe 30 x 50 foot or larger) and very close to the parking lot that we could shelter from a downpour. God willing we won't have to worry about that. My DH said he thinks it is suppose to clear off in the morning. I am going to check out the forcast when it comes on about 4.

Bob

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

Bob, Do you happen to know which direction the pavillion faces? I am thinking the parking on the front is on the East side, which would be better because of the kitchen wall area is at the back or west side. The rain probably wouldn't blow in as much, if the wind was SW.
Up here they are saying the whole system will leave with a cold front by early am.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

The back side is to the East so it will be no protection at all!
-Bob

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

I got turned around for sure. Well it is not out in the country, so if it was bad enough of us have hotel rooms close by and we could hold up there until it passed, then set up for an afternoon swap.
Up here they just had a tornado warning in northern Tarrant Co. north of Ft Worth. But our rain stopped about night fall in SW Fort Worth. Although the sirens in our neighborhood went off, and that did get our attention.
It's Spring in Texas!

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Hello Everybody, We had an emergency happen this evening, we went shopping and when we got back our car had overheated and was boiling over, so we decided to rent a car in the morning.
Unfortunately they don't open till nine in the morning, so we will have to be late, maybe eleven thirty.
I am trying to not be too upset, but I guess we will have to do the best we can.
So please don't give up on us and save us some barbecue, although I think we will get there in time for lunch time. Hoping and praying that all goes well.
Josephine.

College Station, TX(Zone 8b)

I'll let everyone know.
Bob

Austin, TX(Zone 8b)

We are back home it's 8pm and all is well that ends well. We had a great time although it was all a whirwind of activity, and getting there late did not help.
It ias wonderful to see friends we have already met, and meet a lot of new friends including Dave and Trish, I must say both of them look so young! and Trish is adoradle and tiny, what a couple!
Now it is time to rest, and tomorrow sort out all those plants and give them a home.
