Announcing the 5th annual DG Photo Contest!

Kerhonkson, NY(Zone 5a)

Hey, hey! I like grackles -- they're a very smart bird ... now cow birds, that's another story ... hate 'em ... and starlings, of course ... unfortunately lots of birds are in competition with one another and take advantage when they can ...

Josephine, Arlington, TX(Zone 8a)

Well, I think all birds are special, and I am sure each of them fulfils a special purpose that we may not be aware of.
I think Grackels are funny, especally during their mating dance, they love to strut and spread their tails to impress the females.
The Starlings are very social, and they love to gather aroung the bird bath and have pool parties, they can be hillarious, jumping in four or five at a time, and taking turns at splashing.

I sure hope that when the contest winners are announced, that someone will say so in this thread, or I may miss the whole thing!

I'm excited to see the results of the contest.
January 1st 2006 Hurry up and get here!!! LOL

I for one am interested in seeing how everyone has viewed the photos and judged them. I should have kept notes as to which ones I voted on and why.

The contest has been extremely Fun and Stressful....LOL

Heck, GGK ..

I compiled a folder on my pooter, to place the photos of which I'd voted for!

Was doin' real good too, until I got so overwhelmed .. and found that I just couldn't make up my doggone mind! Then, I up & quit !! (placing them in the folder, that is!) .. hee

So, once more .. I'd like to applaud everyone .. on some mitey fantastic shots!!
I've thoroughly enjoyed the privilege and the 'eye candy' treats !!!

I'm really looking forward to the results. I did all my voting very early on, enlarging the photos that looked interesting to me and then voting or not.. There was no limit to how many photos we could vote for in any particular category so I voted for the ones I thought were 'best'.

I enjoyed it enormously and I'm going to enjoy looking at all the winners.

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks goes to everyone who entered a photo in the contest and providing such beauty for me to view. Each photo has its special qualities and each one is a winner in my mind. It was extremely difficult to choose a single winner in each category. Unfortunately in some categories, I could not make up my mind and ended up making multiple selections. Happy New Year to my fellow gardeners and congratulations to the winners when they are announced

Castelnau RB Pyrenée, France(Zone 8a)

I voted the same way as you did kniphofia and was stunned by all the beautiful photos.
I too am looking forward to seeing all the winning shots and applaud everyone who entered :)

Sumner, WA(Zone 8a)

wallaby1 -- I totally missed that photo of the day! Thanks for pointing it out. :-)

sarahskeeper -- yes, they are day neutral types...I am growing Quinault and Tristar varieties. I am also growing alpine strawberries. Next year, I think I'll add some other varieties to the mix...maybe Earliglow...hmmm...any suggestions?

The contest was fun and I appreciate the votes for mine in Wildflowers. I sure am looking forward to doing better pictures on my own this coming year, to be better prepared for the next contest.

I hope that the categories can all be set 'way ahead of the contest, so that everyone will know exactly what to put where, and how to vote better. Other than that, I thought this was a great thing to participate in.
