What about those folks .. that temporarily lose their internet connections tho' ? Are those votes, that they've already spent much time, sifting and viewing, and may have 'check-marked' .. but not yet 'registered' their votes - - -are these 'saved' ?
Not trying to be a royal patoot here (as I’m sure that no one else is trying to be either) .. BUT, there is still quite a significant bit of confusion. Far too many ifs, ands, buts and maybe so’s associated !!
In ANY of the possible circumstances that have already been mentioned - - we’d all like to know how our votes are/have been/will be registered in each of the scenarios …
Seems that hearing (seeing & reading) the in's & out's about the issues and concerns that are raised HERE in this and other threads - may could be more easily understood and accepted - if it could be heard ('read') straight from the horses' mouths.
Where is the young webmaster or any of the knowledgeable staff – of which, could most easily address the questions and/or concerns? Is such info posted and available elsewhere on the site? ANYONE else know .. and/or would care to indicate where?
Sure like to see the contests continue, and to remain to be a ‘fun & friendly’ affair .. but, there are simply too many unknown variables.
I’m voting .. and whatever happens .. will happen. Seems that there is little that any of us can do about anything, should any of the ‘votes’ be inadvertently canceled out any prior check marks …
There is certainly some mitey fantastic photos that have been submitted! I’m more committed to giving credit to the creativity of the view behind the camera .. as opposed to the actual displayed images. I’ll state up front .. that I’ve avoided casting any votes for any professional gardens and landscapes (those that clearly indicate such) – for I feel that it is not an equal playing field for any of the rest of our ‘homemade, homegrown, nurtured, and worked our fingers to the bone’ gardens and yardens.

Announcing the 5th annual DG Photo Contest!
Welllll, this > http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/561535/ .. would certainly contribute somewhat, to my inquiries as to 'why' the young webmaster hasn't addressed some of these concerns.
He's been a mite bit 'busy' ...
- Magpye
Magpye, well put! Please go back to my previous post on Dec 8th at 6.13pm and read the next follow-ups.....I think you will find your answer there. Admittedly there is a lot to read through, but others have found what I have said to be true.
To answer your immediate concern again though, if you do NOT register your vote, then it will NOT count. If you try scrolling down after CHECKING A FEW and REGISTER REGULARLY, so as not to LOSE your hard work, that is easily done by placing your pointer in the blank space above your scroll arrow at the bottom.
But please let's keep this fun, each and every person is entitled to vote as they please, and we all have different views. However we have presented our photos they are all precious to each and every individual, and please let me add that each and every photo of my own was taken in my garden this year, even before I became a paid up member and started seriously using this site. (Half way through the competition). I also am very proud of my achievements, and hope I can share some of my joy with others, having only acquired my digi camera a few months ago.
The 'staff' of DG I think have a lot on their hands, and questions at the start were answered, but I think part of the beauty of this web site is that it is MEANT to be for the subscribers to be fully participating in the running of it. Can anyone imagine having to answer to the many thousands of members? I mean only to be helpful here, it can be difficult to understand the 'workings' sometimes. I hope you have many more years of 'working your fingers to the bone' in your garden, and enjoy recording the results on your camera, as I do, after all that is what it is all about, isn't it?
Warm wishes to you and every other member
Janet
Thanks for all the information. I've got it now, or at least I think I do. The membership answer was very helpful. I'm loving doing this, just want to be doing it right. Thanks, everybody.
Diane
aaaaarrrghhhh, just realised I said 'best bearded' in roses, thinking of irises, ne'er mind....
I should have entered my husband for 'best bearded'! LOL!
come on then weezingreens, WE WANT A PHOTO>>>>>
SEE ?!? There really should've been a category provided for ' PEOPLE ' .. doggone it !!
- Magpye
Dave, when you started this thread, did you ever imagine it would generate 250 responses????
Magpye - we tried for a people category but it was not picked.
Yep, I did [know] Mitch .. and I truly can understand .. the desire to refrain from such. But, geezer-weezers .. (PUN, intended Weezins!) .. look what we may have missed!
And, apparently, are still going to 'miss' - Weezins: whars that best-bearded 'human' bean pic?
(merely continueing to very luvinly tease ya Weez)

This thread is getting too long for me to load easily. Please, someone D-mail me if there is anything really important, I'm going to have to stop watching it.
thanks,
Ann
LOL................................
Kaleem
awwwwwwwwwww...what a sweetie!
Nice to see the photo your "iris". Looks like a real nice feller. DonnaS
ooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh he's sow sweet! Do you have any bits off him for trade? My garden could do with a cheery iris like that one!!!!!!
Ahhh, Weezins .. your long bearded ... looks to be a 'keeper' also!!
((huggerooners))
- Magpye
very nice!
Oh, he's a keeper, alright! He's built my greenhouses and all my raised beds, and he helps me every spring when I'm carrying flats of plants from the basement to the greenhouse. It's funny, but most men here in Seward have beards, but they stick out like a sore thumb when they hit the lower 48.
I have to tell you, when I was judging in the pet category, after looking over all the photos, I was having trouble deciding on a vote for the best picture with more than one species. I chose a lovely photo of a man & his dog... technically, it fit the category! LOL!
LOL Weezin, what a nice "Bearded" !!...I have a "bearded" Iris also. He is a keeper, too. He is always running things to and from the greenhouse and helping me dig holes for all my bulbs with his auger.
Christmas blessings to all, Margo
P.S. That's me on the mantle.

Great photo, Margo! Looks like Jack's got a real buddy there!
hah! Great pic, Weezy! What a guy!
Next thing ya know he'll be brave enuff to plant tomatoes in the snow! (Cus I said so!)
Thanks for the grin!
Shoe.
Oh my Weez, your DH is sure hot!! What a look he is giving you. I would fall in love except I too have my own bearded wonder. He is my true love for 29 years Nov. 27th.
Margo, makes me wonder if having beards is added insurance for a winner! My DH does not share my love of gardens but he sure shares the work.
My 2 Toms.
Well, maybe these bearded iris can be grown in cultivation in any zone!
We better watch out or everyone will want cuttings.
.. LOL ..
(nope, no cuttings needed - no propagational forms necessary - thank you!) .. hee
Besides, I got my own bearded 'eye-rish' felon too!! (I mean, feller)
- Magpye
Hey Kell~~~ it might have something to do with the date. I met my DH on November 27th 1974. We have been married 30 years this past July 13th. Time has surely flown by. We are both happily retired now.
I am so thankful he loves to garden! (so he doesn't fuss when I bring in another 100 bulbs or receive new cuttings of brugs we don't have, LOL) He recently (and very innocently) asked me if we had all the Brugs now. I almost choked. I sat him down and showed him plantfiles and some of the new ones not released yet from the Brug forum....he quietly said "Will I have any grass left by Summer?"...hahaha, maybe not:))
One day I will tell him of all the parcels of land you have all your brugs on...*grin*
Merry Christmas and God bless all, Margo
Hehehe Janis !!

Kell, nice to see your two fellows, and of course all the rest of the fellers. I have to enjoy seeing yours as don't have one of my own now!!!!!!!!!! Been a widow for 11 years now.
Can't spend any more time in front of this monitor, have to finish addressing my Christmas cards. DonnaS
Any idea when the judging ends?
I was curious about that myself...I missed entry time but Im still excited to see the winners.
All really great photos!
I think Dave was going to give us a couple weeks to vote. With his move, maybe we'll have more.
weezegreens your iris made pic of the day!
Well, I'm cross-eyed, but I'm finished!! Some of the most beautiful pictures of flowers I have ever seen are entered in this contest.
Shucks! and I missed it! Was it my bearded iris??
Here You Go Weez...
