Coffee and...Part 49...! :-D

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

I got "Page Not Found" a couple times but it seems ok now. Topped the pie with Cool Whip, as it holds up better than real whipped cream, finished the laundry, cleaned up the messy kitchen, worked some more on that #$#% Chair, but it's not done. Time to change into some clean clothes and be a guest. Think I'll slouch on the sofa like DS does when he comes to visit me......! LOL

Jasmerr, look at the Taste of Home website and pick out what you want and I'll see what they have on sale. I know the Country guide will be half price but maybe some of the others are too. The four for ten sale was October, but there might be some left, and if there are any dessert ones, I'll pick them up for you.

Max just deposited one last urp for me on the carpet. Don't know why he can't do it on the hard wood floor in the kitchen....gee, I'll sure miss that little guy. He's a playful cat, always willing to play and chase, but those clean ups are not fun.

Waiting for a pup report from Maria, and an update from Bal, and Ernie.....

I'm back. Bob took me to get my driver's license so I'm good for 5 more years. Yuck, don't ever have your picture taken on a day you are sick!

Bob also loaded what seems like a hundred plants in the truck. Thankfully LOTS are cuttings in 6" pots, and bulbs he dug, all on the bottom layer under the plywood platform I built above the wheel wells, and bigger plants on top. I won't be able to see out and will have to rely on side mirrors. I will just have to stay in the right lane.

There's just barely enough room left for the kitty litter pan but we made a cushy spot for my cat in the middle. Now I HAVE to go tomorrow or my plants will fry. (I figure I can just as easily be sick on the road as sick at home.)

MollyMc called. Her mobile home delivery / installation is being delayed a day so she won't be home and back to her computer until probably late Friday. Her biggest worry is that her son (Jeremy) doesn't have enough gas for the generator for an extra day.

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Jenny is home and has a new name from this day fwd she is to be called expensive priceless princess lol 725 bucks after an 80$ discount for paying today . She feels so much better and is hungry but can only have 2 ounces at a time but can have it several times a day.

Maria so did you get Sampson or not you are holding out on us.

Darius no day is a good day for a driver picture judging from the ones I get lol. Hope the footer is healing nicely.Hope those plants of yours make the trip they will appreciate a little shot of b 1 or some fish and seaweed fertilizer when you get there . Happy birthday hope you like being 40 as much as I did.

Marye second year growing the big beef you told me about thanks it is a dandy how did your winter gh growing work out last year seems to me you were giving that a go .

have a good day all off to make a meatloaf with lots of onion and fresh salsa. Thanks for thinking of my Jenny bye. Ernie

Ernie, LOL @ Jenny's new name. My dachshund cost me over $3,000 for back surgery. And 2 years later, another $700 for acute kidney failure and putting her down.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Ernie, a big welcome home for the pricey princess. I started getting medical insurance for my animals a few years back when my dear Olive got cancer and her first treatment was 4500.00. I about fell off the couch with that one.

I love to put salsa in my meatloaf. It gives it a zip....

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Ernie,

I missed the post about what happened to Jenny, but I'm glad things are better...just sorry it cost so much.

Hooray !!! My end panels are finally here. Took Erik several months to glue up the wood and draw the pattern in between his real job needs. Two feet wide and eight feet long for the big one and thirty inches long for the short one. They will finish off the Darkroom Portal carving I finished last year. Have to finish the door jamb carving thats on the bench first.(that's another 'but first' folks)

Darius, I'm so sorry to hear yet another malady has struck you, and on your Birthday no less. Please take extra good care of yourself.

Edited to say great news Ernie.Glad miss Priceless is on the mend.

Robert, how absolutely wonderful they look!

(I'm loading up on maladies so I can get them all out of the way, and enjoy life!)

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Ernie, I'm glad to see that Miss Megabucks is back home. She has such a cute face. I'm sure she likes having lots of little meals, you don't want to stretch her tummy. ouch. Poor puppy. Yes, I did grow things in my greenhouse last winter, but since it is cool in there the tomatoes didn't do so well. We did get a few real early tomatoes off them but then it got too hot in there too quick because we didn't get the shade cloth up soon enough. It's definitely a learning experience. This evening or tomorrow I will plant radishes and several kinds of lettuce, also spinach if I still have seeds. Then I'll be posting baby pictures of plants in a few weeks, they grow slowly in the winter since it rarely gets over 55 or so, but I do have to watch those sunny winter days and open something since we block the automatic vents to keep cold air from blowing in since the vent louvers open on a change of air pressure. Winter winds blowing right on the vent make it flap and heat is lost. The furnace is right under the exhaust vent. It's kinda tricky.

Darius, please drive carefully. I hope this ailment you have is a one day thing so you aren't sicker tomorrow. Drivers licence pictures always look like mug shots, mine is horrible. In Oregon ours expire on our birthday, and vehicle licenses have a sticker for the month they expire (or maybe it is the last month they are good?) anyhow, the idea is that they are not all due at the same time so the licenseing employees are not overwelmed, people don't have to stand in long lines, and the state has a steady flow of money.

It's raining again so I needent have hurried to get home from town. I thought I could get more yard work done but the rain started before I finished my shopping and instead of playing in the yard I sit here with my cup of tea. The store had some marked down round steak so I will make swiss steak with mushroom gravy and serve it over brown rice. Baked squash sounds good with that. For lunch I had a spinach salad and a cup of clam chowder after I finally made connections with my hubby. I picked some apples this morning (we have apple trees, very old and not great apples) and will make an apple crisp or maybe apple cake. They don't taste good enough to just eat and aren't juicy enough to make juice. The deer have been sneaking past the dog at night so the ones on the ground have bites out of them. Poor old Scout is getting pretty gray and deaf, but he barks when he does see or hear them and they know he is there. That kept them away for a while but they are getting braver now. The trouble is that as the weather gets cooler and nastier he spends a lot of his time in his house, so I think they just wait for him to go to bed.

Time to get dinner started. Will check back later to see how Maria and Sampson got along and catch up on whatever else is new.

OH ERNIE so happy to hear dear sweet "priceless Princess" is much better love that little girl.

Whidbey Island, WA(Zone 7b)

Heya! GOB's and GOBette's! I've been MIA for the last several days, but I'm back now. My rather chronologically advanced Mum has been ill and in hospital and I've been caring for her daily as well as transporting her back and forth to hospital in Everett (Prov. Colby Campus). Suffice it to say, she's home now, back to being her feisty little self and she kicked me out this afternoon saying she wanted to start flying "solo" again. *Heheheh!* I can only hope to be half as tough as her if I live as long! So, I'm home finally and grateful to be back in my own home even though it's bill-paying time again and I've got to get with the program and get the bills taken care of.

I've tried to catch up on the thread, but I'm afraid it's bigger than I, so I'll go on from here and hopefully gain some knowlege by osmosis. To those I've missed wishing Happy Birthday, please know you are thought of and sent Best Ever Wishes for your special day. For those who have been dealing with whatever crisis, ailment, malady, disease, etc., I send my thoughts and prayers for a quick answer or reprieve or cure (which ever may apply in your circumstances).

Many blessings on each of you and I send my best to each home.

As ever,
~Babs~

Welcome home, Babs. Glad your Mom is better. She sounds like my Mom - a real "I'll do it myself!" type of lady.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

have not had a minute, Daughter Cynthia and husband John came for dinner, was way behind, good thing John is a good cook finished cooking for me, meatballs and pasta, salad that starting of wth all kinds of yummi cheese and some wine my DH had from his collection. Fruit with raspberry sauce and coffe for dessert.

Samson is a big, healthy and a very stong animal, when I took him for a walk he pulled me over flat on my stomach, then he came and licked me all over as if to say I am so sorry, he had no training what so ever but have trained dogs before, he is just a quite a bit older than the ones I had
My daughter nearly flipped when she came in, Samson attacked her at once with lots of affection lol,
Here are some Pictures

PS Had to edit this because of quite a few typo mistakes, never learned how to type,

Ernie so glad shes home OK, and of course she's Priceless - she always was wasn't she - just tell her she doesn't need to prove it!

Hi everyone else - off to cook now, back later.

OH, he is beautiful and I am so happy he has found you to love. I am sure you two are going to be the best of friends.

Hit something and it sent before I could get the whole post done.

Babs, welcome back. Sorry to hear that mom was down for a bit but its wonderful to know she bounced back so well. My mom was like that, she hated being waited on and would kick me out of the way as much as she could. I miss that.

Gosh that steak and mushroom gravy dinner sounds good. I am hungry and DH still isn't home to feed me. Going to have to nip this in the butt real quick like. LOL

Well I hear that darn dryer again calling me.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Thanks all of you for cheering me on, I doubt very much if I would have taken that chance otherwise
And yes he is handsome, and very beautiful to look at, he finally sat still long enough to take pictures of him, John, my SIL, took them, he has more patience then I have LOL

Darius, the last I counted have four children, two daughters and two sons lol
Maria

Is Samson gonna be in bed tonight right along side of you??? Or is he a floor and sofa guy like Opus??
I am so happy for you both!

Oooops, sorry! Memory lapse, LOL.

Anyway, soooo glad you have a full time companion!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

not in my bed, Anne, on the floor next to me but do not know if he will like it, he seems to prefer floors without carpets, much cooler I guess, bedroom has wall to wall carpet.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Maria, I meant to add that it was a bold move for you and I applaud that you did it!

Lambertville, NJ(Zone 6a)

e-weed- So glad your precious priceless pup is home and OK. She is so cute

Maria- What a doll! Training him should be a cinch.

Just had spaghetti for dinner tonight. DH is on call on Wed.'s so always make something easy to reheat when he gets in. Now I need to catch up on some reading.

Everyone have a good night!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

please note I edited my awful typo mistakes, sorry!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Maria, why do you worry about typos? We all make them and we all understand the intent!

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Thanks,Darius, but Iam basically a perfectionist this just drive s me crazy, LOL

I have striking antique clocks I have to wind once a week, Samson does not know what that is he keeps looking from whence it comes LOL, sooo funny!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Maria, I think you may need to wait until the morning before making that bold statement of Samson sleeps on the floor. Mine wait until I am asleep and to tired to kick them off before they jump up.

A few years back someone gave me a clock that sounded like seagulls in the background. Well the first time Nina heard it she started howling. I quickly took that clock and deposited somewhere else. I was greatful for having a reason to take it down with out having to tell the giver I really didn't care for it. LOL

I have dyslexia and see things differently then what my fingers type so your typos dont phase me. Didn't even notice you had any. LOL

Casey

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ohhh, you will have fun with him!

Everson, WA(Zone 8a)

Maria he is a dandy but what do I know of goldens only had 10 of them lol I could get stuck on them funny our first golden Annie came from Ma in 1980 she was the start of them all. Glad you got him now you need to remember he is there and watch for him when you get up in the middle of the night you don't want to trip over him. I think he is stunning good job. Not a bad thing he likes bare floors that way when he is wet he wont dirty the rugs.

Robert I am envious of your fence lol I see it hiding my fence is a three tapper to set square but then it is on a wonderful 1948 Delta cast iron saw a dandy.

Made a meatloaf tonight good to eat so Linda says but ugg what a clean up job I need back up for my kitchen duties lol.

awwww Maria let him up into the bed!!! LOL You will love it as much as he will..
as Carat says he may find his way there on his own when you least expect it. Skillet has taken to hopping in an hour before I even get there. But Opus pefers the sofa (watchdog he is) or laying be the side of the bed on the cool floor.
warm night for you both and warm cozy feelings of being together!!
Anne

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

He will be happy anywhere just kidding you but I will say a warm furry fourlegged is good company ---in my bed at least LOL

Cheers to the Canines from Coast to Coast! Hip-hip-hooray!

From reading about Ernie's little Priceless Jenny coming home, to Maria's new companion Samson (who, like his namesake, may need to have his hair cut so he's not quite so strong... hehehe), I'm grinning from ear to ear.

Wishing warm thoughts and joyful hearts to all the wonderful folks who both post and lurk in this thread. Ya'll bring vibrance to this lil community we call DG. :-)

Donna

P.S. Darius, I came into chat yesterday to sing you an early Happy Birthday, but was told that I had just missed you. Smart gal! LOL Hope you're feeling better than your new driver's license pic. ;-)

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Congrats on the big buddy, Maria. He's a keeper! The best thing about dogs are they're the best foot warmers. Barney can't jump on our bed anymore, hips going downhill, but if DH is gone overnight, we share the bed and he keeps my tootsies warm. Barney only likes the foot area, rarely will sleep anywhere farther up the bed. Oscar will sleep anywhere, even on top of u if he decides that's what he wants. Usually DH is the subject of his attention, has even licked his nose in the middle of the night cuz he wasn't being petted, pout, pout...

Jenny looks as precious as ever, just has a million dollar smile now! lol

Happy Birthday darius, my friend - sorry to have sent the nasties thru cyber space, I though only goodies could be shared that way! Hope u wake up in the morning feeling much, much better!

Have a good night all!

Hi folks,

Darius, it sounds kind of funny to wish you a happy birthday when you're down with the Yucks, so I'll wish you a happy Un-birthday instead. I hope you'll take another day to celebrate and give yourself some extra treat when you can actually enjoy it!

Forgot to say the other day that it was nice to hear from Molly again. If you get a chance to read this, Molly, we're all rooting for you. The recent trials and tribulations should make getting settled in your new place even nicer.

Kooger, sorry you've been feeling so lousy. The weight loss is some little consolation, I guess!

Bab's, glad your mom's better.

Ernie, also glad the pup's okay now. My feline companion for 18 years cost us a few thousand a few years ago--- and then she died. At least you have a positive outcome.

Good going, Maria! I think you'll be glad you made this decision.

We just had a chicken saute for supper with "this and that" sauce. Normally I would have used chicken stock to deglaze the pan, but DH had opened a box of beef stock earlier in the week and rather than let the rest go to waste, I used that plus fresh rosemary, white wine and fat free half and half. (Mom's on a low fat diet so heavy cream is OUT. The fat free half and half aint half bad! Anyone who's trying to cut down on calories --- give it a try in mixtures like this. You just might like it.)

Hi dcat, m5, suzie, Robert, Mary, Casey, sarv, jassmer, tuttifrutti, Joyous (wherever you are) and anyone else I missed!

Goodnight all.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)
