Coffee and...Part 49...! :-D

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

OCD - obscessive compulsive disorder DH gets teased about it all the time. He's such a perfectionist, he gets nothing done cuz it's just not good enough so he does it over, and over.........

I flick my baby fingernail with my thumb,to the point that the nail was all twisted so I'm working on not doing that anymore. I also chew cuticles till they bleed.

Fess up everybody, what's ur OCD??

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Kooger, did I miss that you've been sick? (I know I missed a few days while I was in Boone.) Healing Hugs my Friend.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Oh, I got a nasty gremlin! I didnt post till this morning. Haven't been on DG since Fri. I think. Now would be a good time to do that colonoscopy scan, won't ever be emptier. Down 8 lbs. Wish it would stay off but I'm sure it'll show up again since I started eating crackers and bananas today. and tea.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Kooger, please rest and take care of you. I can assure you the paint can and walls will still be there waiting when you are feeling better.

Darius, I have already checked with all the states we will traveling through and I only have an issue with a couple states and some cactus plants. So either we will be changing routes or I will be leaving them here. I am glad that you are not doing the trailer although I know making two trips could be hard on you.

Tutti, wonderful idea. So east coasters, my couch needs to be brushed to get the hair off and the dogs have presents in the back yard for everyone and the pool needs to be skimmed and brushed down. LOL

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Kooger, that isn't fun. So Sorry.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Whoopeee! Just got my "better" sunglasses in the mail, back from Repair! I'm a redhead (or was) and we are classified as semi-albino. Sunlight hurts my eyes all year round, worse on snow of course. So my Serengeti driver's sunglasses came back from repair just in the nick of time for my drive South!

Happy Camper here!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Thanks! I'm behaving, don't have a lot of choice. Do a bit and I'm too pooped to move. Rest time! It always amazes me how quickly a body can decline. I just wanted to get that room done cuz my next days off are Sun, then Tues again. So, we'll be walking around stuff for a week, I guess. No way I'm even opening the paint can. Such is life.... best laid plans and all.... lol

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Hey, have y'all been watching the news? First time in 25 years the Senate has gone into closed, secret session. Don't want to get into a political debate, just a news item.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Well, that s wonderful news! Nothing worse than not having the right shades for a long drive. My DGD surprises me, she tans really well! DH does not, he burns first, then finally tans. Both redheads!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

My Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is mostly with my house work, and paperwork filing and my sewing. My friends and family tease me about the model home look and the file box of info on SC is a biggy right now. I have broken it down to house, land, animals, equipment, health and comfort, and ideas. Then it is color indexed with internet, DG, books, friends, and mail. From there it is broke down in more direct info and of course it has been alphabetized and numbered. I have even set up a quick reference system for it.

Ouch Kooger. And yes now would be the best time for that test. At least for you and the tester. Although I doubt they will do it while you have the grud.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Heck, I never have tanned.... just got more freckles.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Well, I got the call today. Permits are ready and they have the drive set to move the trailer to the property on Thursday.

So, I get the day off like I planned, only have to get up at 6 and make the trip north. See the banker, sign the closing papers, get the check, take it to the trailer place. Then get the well and septic people on the job.

Going to take more plants of course and spend the night in my new trailer. Guess I better take something that resembles a sleeping bag.

Right now I need to get out and buy fuel for the generator and for my car. Jeremy will stay here and tend to the house and pets while I am gone. Maybe if we are lucky they will restore our electric while I am gone.

Temps are warming now and really would like some a/c. We are really grateful for the week of cooler temps after Wilma's visit, but it's warming now. I had trouble sleeping last night because of it.

Well, better get going, dark gets here pretty early now and I still need to load plants in the car.

LOL (to both of u) !

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yay, Molly!!!

Good luck, and it should be a bit cooler farther north.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Sarv, lol, yeah, just blame the good old weatherman!!! Sure, I will save lots for you, hehe.

Casey, Arizona State University is a great school, no matter what you have heard about partying. My son is a senior there and has done great. He is at Marquette University today going thru a dental school interview. He has applied at 14 dental schools, so we shall see where he has ended up. He has loved ASU! The weather, people (he joined a frat), city, sports, campus, etc..... They actually ended up giving him the best scholarships so we haven't had to pay too much due his good grades, community service, etc. Go for it!!!

Darius, hope you do have a great trip. When you see Molly, say "hi" from me please. It will be good and fun for you to get together with the DG people. Have a great cookout with her too.

Mary, I do love those sun pictures! Looks great!

Eweed, oh dear, hope the vet can fix the poor puppy.

Bal, I thought very hard on stopping on Sunday as I was driving down I-5. I saw the exit so will have to try to do it next time. Would love to meet you.

Well, back to work. It is such a nasty day outside that I don't think I will get much done outside after work. Darn! Have so much to do still since I was gone all last week.
Later, Carol (DR)

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Sorry, Molly, was writing when you guys posted. Go Girl! Have fun staying in your new place, that is so cool!

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Man a livin - so much has happened in such a short time!!

Molly and Darius - good luck on both of your trips - godspeed to both of you- check in with us if you can just so we can be sure you are OK

Kooger- ugh - the yuckies- rest up - you are down HOW much!!! I am up that much - thanks a lot for sharing your lbs. LOL

Maria- oh Samson is gonna be yours - should you change your name to Dehlila (spelled ??) I can just see the two of you taking walks!!

ernie - how did puppy get lead poisoning??? Poor thing, think what a tummy ache she has had...awwww

I didn't realise you had to have a permit to cross state lines- where in the world do they check?? I've never seen the plant police around.

Darius- what's the secret session about - do ya know???

I have a teacher's pension and I was patting myself on the back thinking it was safe. My brother (who works for GM) told me that all it takes is a vote of the legislature to drop it - yikes I didn't know that. No wonder I didn't sleep last night. He (bro) and his wife (gm worker too) are major big spenders and now they are worried about their retirement/jobs etc. He is usually such a positive person, but when we were together this weekend, he was Mr. doom and gloom. Made me worry......even more than usual!!

Gotta run to the barn - DH has the door wide open and DS deer is hanging inside (who wants deer with bugs all over it - icky)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, I don't want to go into what the secret session is about, lest I get banned for politics. Check out CNN.

Yep, all our pensions (including social security) are at the whims of legislature.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Arrrrggghhh... my Driver's License expires tomorrow so I have to fit that into my schedule on top of everything else. Fortunately, tomorrow is Wednesday, the only day of the week the state troopers are here for driver's licenses in my county.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Nah, you don't want to mess with an expired license. I've done that, twice! Once was an honest goof-up by the DOT, the other, my forgetfullness. I had to take the driving and written the 2nd time. I was NOT a happy camper! I had no idea this was going to happen. I had paid a ticket in WI but they did not send in the paid notice to IA, so IA suspended my license. I assumed it would all be taken care of after I called WI and they said it was all ok. NOT! They didn't send it in so I drove for over a year, not knowing it was revoked. Quite a shock when I got to the DMV for renewal. Don't do that, too nerve wracking!

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Sarv, trust me if there are plant police they will be in full force while I am around. DD is really not into the partying that much, and at least for now, hates the taste of alcohol. Now to pray that those taste buds don't change before she makes it out of college. She is planning on persuing a career in physical or occupational therapy and then working TBI patients. Her boyfriend of 3 years is doing his core classes here at UNLV and plans on going to ASU for architectural engineering. Dentists are in hot demand right now, great career field choice.

DH and I don't even add SS in the figures when we look at retirement. I work for the school district and he works for the county and both contribute to a state pension fund that is protected by several laws now after a few previous mishaps, and it still isn't safe. Most states government workers don't even have that. I have a good friend who is a principal in Tenn. and she received a registered letter a few months back that a portion of the retirement fund that she contributes to has been redirected to help cover the deficit in spending. And they are now requiring that members be a minimum of 65 before receiving full benefits with no buy out purchase option. I guess it was 62 before this letter.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yeah, we all should have been directed as youngsters to invest in a retirement plan that WE could control. My SS is half what it was supposed to be 15 years ago because they changed the laws.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Darius, does you license expire on your birthday?

Gorgeous pictures above. Darius beat me to it in suggesting that you enter into the photo contest.

Short of time - have to admit that I can't keep up with you and only scanned the messages above, so apologies for missing things.

Ann

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Yes, Ann, they expire on your birthday. I will be 65 tomorrow. Don't feel a day oldar than 75.

Hey, saw your photo on some thread... hostas? Great looking lady.

Yes, Ann,driver's licenses in my state expire on your birthday. I will be 65 tomorrow. Don't feel a day older than 75.

Hey, saw your photo on some thread... hostas? Great looking lady.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Well, happy birthday Darius, and safe trips to those who will be behind the wheel over the next few days. Plant police, who'da thunk it? I suppose FL would be extra alert because of all the citrus grown there. I don't think Wisconsin has any such laws. And DR, your son is here at Marquette? does he have a cell phone? Would he like to come for dinner?? Really, he would be more than welcome if he likes leftover pork roast with sauerkraut and potatos from the slow cooker. We're about 40 minutes from downtown where the Marquette campus is located.

My cousin, (well, sort of cousin, our paternal grandfathers were brothers...I don't know if that's second cousin or twice removed or what) was President of Marquette a few years back, Father Albert DiUlio. After that he went to Africa to help open a business school, and now I'm not sure where he's landed as we aren't in touch. Now that I've bored you with that, Marquette has an excellent dental school, all my dentists have been alumni and have also taught there,as has my hygienist (spelling?) In fact, I still have fillings that were put in at the school when I was too poor to afford going to a dentist, and you could get dental care at reasonable costs.

Made some progress on that chair....had to laugh at the "time" comment, we don't have time, we make time by neglecting something else, like getting bulbs in the ground or household chores put on hold...I sometimes wonder how I ever found time to work as I am busy all the time.

OCD...don't think I have it...but one quirk I do have is: towels, whether kitchen or bath, must be folded and hung neatly. Always. The rest of the house, ehhhh who cares!

Oh Ernie, poor puppy, whatever did she get a hold of! I hope she's better now that it's out of her system. I'm glad you have a good vet.

Mary that sunrise was so beautiful, that's a winner for sure. You have to enter it!! We'll vote!!

Chair progress.....ugh. Why did I even start? That last layer of paint is like crazy glue . Had to buy another pint of stripper, and it came with a little spray bottle....that doesn't work. Good thing it was free. Anyway I quit for the day, it's cold in the garage, and I'm sure this would work a lot better in warmer temps, but there's no way I'm bringing that smelly stuff into the house. Scrape scrape blob scrape scrape cuss blob scrape...... So far, I could have bought her a ^$%! chair with what I've spent on gas/stripper/gloves.
But this is so much more satisfying, uh huh. No, I'm just too stubborn to give up.

Pssst, Maria, practice saying " here Sammy, good dog!"

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

LOL, Sheila, just have to waitand see, just hope he likes me
so sorry you feel rotten, Laura, and a bad one too, please just rest a lot

Happy for you, Molly, to eventually see the light after all that darkness

Happy birthday, Darius, you are still young!!

Hoping Jenny's all right and back home, Ernie.
Happy Birthday Darius, in case you're gone all day.
Echoes on the beautiful sunrise, Mary. You are an early riser. You'd hafta be to get done all you do.

yep, it's certain states. I can go from here to my sis's in upstate NY without seeing a one. The one at California's border works headed into the state. But Arizona seems not to operate their's anymore. When last I called about transporting some rose bushes out of Cal thru Ariz - the official I reached admitted they hadn't the funds to run that border crossing inspection station any longer.

M5, who knows why we do these project things?? And it will be worth it when it's finished. More power to you.

A truly long time friend who's been gone for a year just got back to town to stay. We spent hours catching up and eating brunch at the local diner and agreeing that living in Moab spoils one for other places. So I must run and do last nights dishes before I dirty tonites. ~Blooms

Just came back from town and visiting my Jenny she feels way better than she has in days and was so cute wiggeling when she smelled me before she could see me she just lit up. She was so cute sitting in front of me with the IV stuck in her front leg one girl holding the leash another following holding the bag in the air. She is showing a great interest in food and has two ounces several times today. She has to stay there for at least another day. I looked at the metal thing that they got out of her and do not believe it is lead if it is it is the hardest lead I have ever seen and it is magnetic so maybe we are going to get a good blood report back and by next week this will be over and she will start growing again. When I left she tried to come with me and started crying like the baby she is when she realized they were taking her away from me poor baby.

Could one of you computer wizzards transfer this to the parking lot coffee thread because I just dont feel well enough to retype this and would like to thank you and that crew for the encouraging words for sweet Jenny thanks Ernie who is headed to bed.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Maria. Not like you???? Oh my. You do need a dog in your life. You might as well go to the pet store and get some supplies, he is staying. I am so excited for you....

Meezer, I had great aspirations of stripping a table and chairs down and restoring them just after DH and I were married. Thank god a bad rainstorm hit and damaged that table and a couple chairs. I knew once I started checking into the whole process that it was alot harder then they made it look on TV, the storm gave me an easy out.

ERNIE, update please. I know Jenny is going to be fine, but some reassurance would be nice.

Darius, I really let the cat out of the bag didn't I. Hee Hee Hee. Oh and in case anyone misunderstood her birthday is Tomorrow, November 2.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Darius,

I won't be there on the weekend, but looks like we will be crossing paths. Trailer will be in on Thursday. Stop over. Your cell is in my phone, keep it charged now.

Jeremy boiled me 2 pots of water for a bath and I did enjoy that. But then we had to wait for the deluge of rain to subside to load plants. Gonna be a hot one tonight. So much for that nice bath.

All that rain, those pots were really heavy. By morning the inside of my van will feel like a tropical jungle, humidity and all, may even make a rain shower in there, heehee.

Darius, happy birthday and be safe on the road tomorrow, er, Thursday. Oh both days, I know you have a lot of errands to run.

Shoulda seen the gas station today. Although the lines weren't really long, people were really slow. To top it off, a Sheriff car, crowded the line. Ach, and prices were over 2.84 per gallon, limit 40 bucks. I had to fill 10 gallons first for the generator and the rest went in my van. It didn't leave much for the van.

So is life. I'm hungry, will get Jeremy to grill some meat and then I'm going to chat tonight

:^))))

Hello, GOBs. returned home this evening with a surprise job, have lots of studying/preparation for tomorrow, so must catch up with you folks later on.

Caught a couple of things in a quick scan - that sunrise is certainly a reason to get up early, MaryE - unearthly beautiful.

Darius, hope your trip goes well and that you have some fun. If you are ever this way, someone can sleep under the piano (kidding - it's a spinet - have pull-out couch that buts up against the piano and DH's draft board) - we're all creative people - let's not let a tiny thing like tiny space inhibit a chance of meeting you in person).

Ernie asked that his post on Night Owls be posted here -

Argh! sorry - I see Darius already posted Ernie's message. Molly - I can commisserate with you on the gas thing - gas will eat up half our earnings. Oh well - we thought we were just volunteering in the first place, anyway. Great potential for embarrassment here.

Wishing you a unique, happy birthday, too, Darius.

Well, company just left. My best friend left for Reno to visit her sister, and I invited her husband for supper. My old stand by-, fish, baked beans, slaw, hush puppies, and a chocolate cream pie. It was all good.

Happy Birthday tomorrow Darius, Mary beautiful sun rise, enter it in the phot contest. Kooger, sorry that you got the bug, hope you feel better. Molly, great news, gonna spend the night at the new home. How exciting. I cannot address each of you, as I have been away practically all day, and took awhile to catch up. I did read every word of every post, what busy people we all are. Time, yep, when we neglect other things we have plenty of time. Eweed, hope the puppy recovers, she probably has a nasty stomach ache. To the travelers, be safe, and check in if you can. Would love to be in 101's kitchen. Probably good stuff coming from there.

Mr. B. wants to play so have to get off and give him a romp, so he will settle down. See Maria, if you had Sampson, we could arrange a play date for our fur kids!! LOL.

Be back later.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Karen, good luck in tomorrows efforts. Just give them your best and everything will work out.

Molly just knowing your still able to get so much done is heart warming. Wow, your gas prices are cheaper then ours. I paid 3.29 for medium grade on Sunday.

I was watching a news report where a family of 14 have made up and designed an inground refrigerator to help keep things cold and fresh longer. Pretty cool idea. Kind of a ice house in the ground.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

If I had my druthers, I'd have a Sun Frost refrigerator (1st), or maybe a propane one.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Yep Darius, propane seems like a good idea, and I heard down here some people are buying propane generators. But so expensive.

I lived in a 27 ft travel trailer for 4 years when I first arrived in S. Florida, 3 decades ago. The fridge in that trailer was a great concept. I was told, it didn't put the cold in, it took the heat out. Not sure exactly how that works but it was a battery powered/converted to 110. It built ice up in the freezer, but that is great when the power goes out.

M5, I should have looked at a map of WI. But my son ended up staying at some friends who used to go to ASU. He was going to stay in a motel so am glad he saved me some money. But if he ends up needing a place again, I will surely think of you. Thanks so much for the offer tho. That meal you mention sounds very good to me! But a relative who was President! That is so cool.
Well, he did his interview. I talked online with his girlfriend since I can't hear on the phone. He wasn't too happy about it. Says they ask the same questions that he wrote in his essay when he applied. So was kind of disappointed. But it's the 1st interview, more to go, I guess.
I like that chair you are redoing tho. It will look good when you are done tho.

Happy early birthday, Darius, in case you are traveling.
