sarv, There's nothing in the balls, that's the beauty of this set up. I'm just floored at their success. Click on one of the above posts links and you'll see them. The ones I have are round with all the pokey stuff sticking out on them, and the bleu colour, but there's nothing in them. When you first turn the dryer on, they kind of bonk and bang around for maybe 30 seconds, then your dryer sounds like regular. But when you pull your items out of the dryer, no static cling, no extra perfume odour to your effects and the items are fluffier and have more body. And, BYW, I love gadgets. I'm really bad about gadgets. My hubby is usually the one who purchases the gadgets, but I'm just as bad as he about using them.
People laugh at me at work, I carry a Leatherman on my scrubs all the time because there are so many parts to them that I can use. I've fixed many pieces of equipment and cut things off and opened boxes and whatevers. People may laugh at me, but I notice, they always come to me or tell someone else, "Go ask Babs, she has a Leatherman" and I'm forever being bothered for my gadgets.

Coffee and...Part 40...! :-D
Mebbee I'll try one of those dryer balls. Gave up on liquid fabric softener a couple of years ago when I saw how much waxy build up I had on my quite new washing machine. Sometimes I put white vinegar in the wash - it helps. And sometimes I put about one-third of a dryer sheet into the dryer. One of these days I'm gonna get a new dryer. Mine is 35 years old and won't quit. Had a joint put in to the gas line just above it when we did the kitchen 14 years ago, but the old one still keeps going. From what I hear, static is much less of a problem with a gas dryer.
Lovely Dahlias ladies. Must try some again someday. It's been years and I can't rightly tell you why I haven't grown them recently.
Ordered music for my handbell choir today. Hope it comes fast as I'd like to have them play one of the pieces in late November. (I may be dreaming here, but there's a chance.) Orchestra rehearsal last night. Missed the last three because they were conflicts with another orchestra which pays me to be there. Just one more full rehearsal and a 60 minute sound check before the concert in two weeks. I've got some work to do although most of the music I've played before in recent history albeit with different groups, different conductors and different bowings.
Maria - glad you're taking something. But keep tabs on yourself and get back to the Dr if you don't come round the way you should.
sarv - you really need that 2 x 4 what with mixing up the dahlias and refusing to turn the furnace on. We're also zone 5a and the furnace has come on a few times. (But we were also using the air-conditioner just two weeks ago - even at night.)
I stopped by the Food Cupboard for 30 minutes this afternoon and ended up staying 3 hours. City wasn't happy about something in my grant application and I had to modify it.
And I keep getting calls from Primus bugging me about changing the local telephone service to them. To be fair, the most recent contact was initiated by us after we found that a client had made $120 worth of calls to Cuba from our secondary line. (Bell will charge us a flat fee of $50 PLUS $5 per month to block long distance from that line. And then we'd have a problem if we wanted to send a long-distance fax cause it's our fax line). We think we know who the client is but we can't prove anything. Meanwhile the phone is disconnected and clients are allowed to use the portable phone from the office after a volunteer dials for them and they are restricted to one minute. I have the contract from Primus to switch the lines over, but the fine print is horrendous - two full pages of what must be a 5 point font made worse from being faxed. I downloaded it from the Internet and it prints out to 6 pages in a 9 or 10 point font. I haven't yet had time to read it carefully and won't sign till I do.
Gotta go. The food cupboard is open Monday evenings. I'm not usually there, but I do plan to go in around 7. If I get a good look at the files I won't have to do that tomorrow.
Ann
I'm trying to get caught up, so bare/bear? with me. You all sure are chatty. I can only sit for a little while and then I have to go back to the couch.
mg
Wow, leave you all for a few hours and all heck breaks loose.
Sarv you did hide the bruises right? Don't need him to be taking you out to dinner and him looking like a dish rag. Thanks for the scone. Haven't had one in months. Trying to loose some of the extra padding that built up over the past 18 months.
OH and if any of you find who you are and see me wondering around aimlessly would you be so kind as to point me in the right direction. When my husband went to work at the same hotel as his father who had worked there for 20+ years he was introduced several times as Roger, Tom's son. Well a few months later he was walking by the Employee Dining Room when he saw a list of upcoming birthdays. They had his picture and birthdate but had the name Roger Thomson with it. Our last name is not Thomson. LOL
Sat at the DMV for two hours registering my new Honda Pilot. Glad that is over for another year.
Okay, just so you all are aware, the skies above Vegas are leaking. First rain in 147 days. Came in handy too. I didn't have to go out and water before leaving for my errands.
My best friend in SC managed to get a beautiful japanese maple tree for free. The couple was outside arguing about it being in the way when he mowed. She walked up and kindly asked if she could help them out by taking it off their hands and they did. Now I just need to find out how it seeds, or is it better to do cuttings.
Mary, let me get this right. You willingly rode on a horse for 55 miles in the rain and ate Dinty Moore stew out of a can and no one had a gun to your head? Now I am sure that horseback riding is fun and relaxing, (I have never been on a horse) but my leg muscles hurt just from riding in my friends jeep on a bumpy road. I am such a big baby, I guess.
Well I am going to go check out a gazebo for the spa. I love relaxing in the spa for a while at night but I really think with the new teenage neighbors we need a little bit more privacy.
I hope everyones day is spectacular.

Babs....with that much vit C you don't get diarrhea? I am a firm believer of Vit C everyday.....and now that I am on a certain med, I have upped to 500 bid.. no gastric probs as yet. But 4000, wow...
Hap
Vit C, I heard what your body doesn't use is processed right out.
Hap, when I was taking 2000 a day, I made sure I had the kind with the rose hips. Was supposed to be easier on the tummy.
Do you know, I had only 1 wart in my whole life, smack dab on my knee. I used that wart stuff they sell and it didn't do a thing. I started taking 2000mg of C for a month, the wart disappeared.
:^)))
Hap....you asked about me taking the 4Grams of Vit. C daily....nope, no diarrhea here. I take the timed released stuff and I don't have a problem. I make sure I drink lots of water as well. Vitamin C in high doses is a natural diuretic and helps keep the puffiness down to a minimum. I'm on long-term Prednisone therapy and I have to be vigilant about not picking up any opportunistic infections being immuno-suppressed as well as not bloating up like a toad. So, I get a two-fold effect from the Vit. C, but always use the extended release stuff. I take it in 1 Gram tablets; 2 Grams in the morning and 2 Grams at bedtime.
Babs
P.S. I just came from my sister's house a few minutes ago. I took my brother-in-law's Gallos y Gallinas comforter I made for his birthday to him. Birthday is tomorrow, but I'll be taking Mum to her proditrist appointment and probably won't catch up to him tomorrow. He loves the comforter and actually curled up in it while we were chatting in the living room.
Welcome to more coffee drinkers! I haven't baked anything but I just got a new quart of Half and Half so I'll contribute that.
Can't to reply to everyone but I remember that Maria is still under the weather and the weather is still ucky! Sure hope u start getting better soon - like now! Oh, you were on the right track with your translationing. If I have given u the literal translation of 'Well te rusten' u would have seen the 'to rest' in the 'te rust' but since everything is switched around, wishing someone to 'well sleep/rest' is rather awkward.
Babs - my doc always told me u can take in as much Vit. C as u want but anything over 1200-1500 is excess and all it gives u is expensive urine. The body does not store Vit. C and whatever isn't used is discarded. Always made me chuckle when he said that. Bet that timed release kind is a good idea ...My MIL always gave DH and his brother Vit C. when winter arrived cuz the DB had allergies and he seldom got colds while on the Vit. C.
sarv - doesn't it just drive u nuts when guys do that? How can they not see neat, separate piles and figure it might mean something? I do think my DH would notice that since he is so picky/fussy himself.
dfcat - was it u mentioning the bobbins for the sewing machine? I finally got it home Sat. and it is in fairly good shape. Too good to destroy for the stand. They are the right bobbins for u but there's only 4. ...boohoo... It is a Domestic machine. I'll get some pics later and post them.
Left work at 11:30 today and took DS (16) to the doc today to discuss his 2 migraines. The first was in late May, the second was Oct. 6th. He could not see out of his left eye, just saw black both times, and the pain was tremendous - drugged him and he slept all day. There is a family history, me, 2 sibs for sure and my dad. Doc checked in his books and 'total occlusion' is rather rare (I just get squiggles), and also related to some tumor so Wed. he goes for an MRI and then next week Thurs. to the opthalmologist (same one that did his two eye surgeries at age 4 and 9). So a prayer for him would be appreciated. I'm doing my best not to think about it and dwell on worse case scenario cuz I really would be shocked if it was bad and I don't want to get him worked up about it.
Time to get the last perennials in the ground, and a few tulip bulbs. Later all, have a good evening!
Oh, and Robert, that dog is absolutely beautiful, actually both of them are! I'd love to sit and pet them for a few hours!!
Ann, I just told dh about your 35 year old dryer and he wants to know if it is a rope out in the back yard! lol
Me again. For whomever asked if I rode willingly in the rain, etc. Yes. Here's the deal. We compete for year end awards over the ride season which lasts from late March to late October. I'm currently in second place for the regional mileage award and would like to be first. So........ I ride. We jokingly say that we develop a syndrone we call D. I. M. R. (distance induced mental retardation). The farther we ride the dimmer we get! And the Dinty Moore stew was sure better than a cold peanut butter sandwich when I was already cold. Overall, endurance riding is a fun sport, it's just that there are some days we could do without, but surprisingly the really hard ones are the ones we remember. Only one more ride this season so I don't have long to do my catching up. Hopefully the current leader will think she's got it made and I'll be able to pass her. The results of the recent week long series have not been posted and I don't know if I'm ahead at this point or not, so have to just keep on keeping on.
Holy Smokes, stay away all day and look how much I have to catch up on, where's my pencil.....! Got a cornish hen and stuffing in the oven potatoes are boiling for mashed and some left over for gnocchi, and squash is done to be nuked at the last minute. It's DH's birthday so I'm trying to make something that looks like I worked at it. Did laundry all day....DH does his own so where did all those dirty clothes come from?
Dcat, are you making rocks out of that hypertufa stuff? Isn't that mixed with cement? I have some ideas after checking out the price of those fake ones. (See the phlox thread Julie started. But sit down. It's a shocker.) I watch Desperate Housewives too, wouldn't miss it! I don't think the writers even know where that convoluted plot is going!
Maria, I hope that cough goes away soon, both my older kids get something like that and I swear it sounds like whooping cough or a lovesick seal. Get plenty of rest, and if it doesn't get better soon, we are going to nag nag nag you to go back to the doctor. Are you listening to us?
Our pets belong on our family tree...otherwise it would be a family bush...they are more reputable than some of our relatives!
I've had our heat on, Sarv, although we do use the fireplace sometimes in fall. I will not live in a cold house. My hot flashes are not reliable. Last week we had the a/c on in the day time and the heat on some nights. Heat bills are going to be astronomical this winter, 40% increase in cost. My gas and electric are on one bill, and generally run around $200 a month in winter. I moved my summer shorts and tees up to the high closet shelf, and the next day it got hot. I'm keeping the step stool in there for the duration....just in case. I'll put it away when it gets really cold.
I'm going to sneak in some tulips and daffys in with the mums we transplanted too. They come up so early and the mums are slow, so that should work out nicely. Dcat, we are sisters under the skin. Has anyone saved their sweet potato tubers and restarted them?
mg, glad you're back. I have your seeds ready but still need your address. We had frost, but it wasn't bad, mostly the low areas, and none of my plants were affected. I sort of wish everything would just die now, instead of looking so bedraggled and raggedy.
Mary how many miles have you logged this year. You are a wonder! You couldn't get me to eat Dinty Moore out of a can even if I'd had to walk that 50 miles! And I'd have to walk, because if I rode a horse, I'd never walk again!
Those dahlias are absolutely stunning! I've grown them and then after I dug them up and stored them, couldn't find them in spring...lol so I've given up!
Kooger, migraines in someone so young are really worrisome.DH has cluster headaches which are controlled for the most part by meds that he takes daily. They are migraines that bounce back many times, sometimes for days. When he first started getting them, he took so much aspirin that his ears were ringing. I dragged him to a neurologist, and since then he's had them under control, for the most part, and can stop a bad one with Imitrex. I hope the MRI comes out well. We'll be thinking of you.
Those dryer balls look like dog chew toys with those nubby bumps on them! Might even be the same thing? LOL
Took my dryer down and coiled it up until spring....yeah, it's a rope! And the last one didn't even last two years! Cold weather sends me right to the gas one in the laundry room. I remember hanging clothes outdoors in winter, and bringing in frozen sheets and clothes to thaw next to the wood stove.
Am I caught up? I hope so. won't be here tomorrow a.m., have a dentist appointment, just for cleaning. The woman who does it has been my hygienist (spelling?) for over 30 years! We always have a nice chat...well, she chats, I mumble and drool. Then Souky has an appointment with the vet to see what's causing her skin problem under her chin and jowls. Poor little thing.
Say goodnight, Gracie.........
Edited for lousy spelling, bad grammer and scrambled syntax. Among other offenses.

Mary, wish we could have met you in Baker City. Stopped there for gas and potty break then off again. I was startled-- to say the least, when we got into the Eastern Oregon/Idaho area. The topography and flora is so very different from what I'm used to here in Western Washington. I can see where a distance ride could go on for days without the interference of highways or urban areas. Best of luck on your quest for First Place.
M5, I will send you the Bee Balm. I don't really want any hostas. I only have 2 small areas for part to full shade so don't need any more now. So if you have anything else, just let me know or whatever. So will try to ship it either tom. or Wed.
Since you keep losing the tubers, does that mean you won't grow anymore dahlias, hehe.
Kooger, am so so so sorry to hear about your son. Hope the MRI will tell you what you need.
Babs, love that quilt. You do a very nice job.
Hey, mg, need you back here so I will have someone to raz again. Miss that!!! lol But hope you are doing ok.
Oh my goodness, Sarv, I would kill my DH if I had him anymore, if he did what yours did to my dahlias!!!! I think you need a 2 x 6!
Being divorced has a few advantages I guess. I can make piles of anything and they just stay there forever, lol. I will still send you some tubers to mess up again next fall, hehe.
ViolaAnn, just let me know if you want some tubers to try again. Best flower in the world!
Blooms, geez, you really know how to make me drool, don't you? Love that pic of the dahlia and I don't have a clue on what the name is. But it sure is pretty!
Julie, thanks for the compliment.
Anyways, nothing new here except work and deadheading the dahlias again. A lot of them are slowing down, due to the cooler weather and the powdery mildew, I think.
Have a good nite, am going to warm up some spaghetti for dinner.
Carol (DR)
Joyous - I have one of those too - out in the back yard. but it isn't much use when I have to tred through three feet of snow to get to it (or the last week when it's been so rainy). The old Kenmore in the basement just keeps going round. DH has done minor patch-ups on it a couple of times, but nothing major. Sounds a bit like the belt is slipping some on the drum. If it gets bad, I'll vote for a new one. (except I'm buying myself a new fridge this week). I decided back in July when my birthday was to buy myself a present - a new fridge. Then I thought better of trying to deal with its contents in the very hot weather we had. I've hated the old one since I did my kitchen 14 years ago. Thought I'd get rid of it when DD and SIL bought their first house 4 years ago, but no, they had to have stainless steel. lol
daisyruffles - if that's all the shade you've got, you need to check out the list of hostas for sun in the hosta forum.
Thanks for the offer of tubers. But you would have difficulty getting them across the Canadian border. I'll have to find mine here.
Good night everyone.
Ann
It's Time!!!
NEW THREAD!!!

~julie~
So i read everything, but didn't take notes.
Someone asked who was diagnosed with carpel tunnel, It's me. Yes I have that brace, and I have had DH step on it for me. To think they would give you something that would make it worse. more bucks in it for them??? I have been going to chiropractor, and he has really helped the arm. Think instead of CT, it was a pinched nerve in my neck.
Oh Oh, someone has me mixed up. I don't have a sewing machine and do not need bobbins. Hope you find whoever it was. My portable sewing machine is used to sew ripped seams, not to do anything creative.
Sarv, WHACK WHACK WHACK WHACK, is that enough? That is the very reason I want my own greenhouse/storage space. Everything now is in the garage which is DH domain, and when I put gardening implements, supplies, flower pots etc in there, he moves them and I have to hunt to find them. When I put something away, I know where it is and can find it in a second, DH can't find his butt with both hands in a spotlight.
Mary, I do admire your energy and sticktoit attitude. I don't want you to think that I poke fun at you, quite the contrary, I think it is wonderful. Just not my cup of tea. Good luck, hope you finish the year in First place, you have endured enough to be there in my book.
Meezer, experimenting with all kinds of things for the rocks. I have had some success with just Quickcrete, steel wool, and newspaper. Will show you an example when I think I have it right.
Morning Gayle glad to see you back. That's okay, we will not make you sit for too long.
Kooger, will be thinking of you with the upcoming scan. Yeah, sounds like he's too young to be having those migranes. Good luck, and my prayers are with you.
Darius, hope you have a good trip. Do something fun for yourself.
Aria, still thinking about you. I too have one bad bout of bronchitis in the winter time. Always end up with prescriptions for cough medicine and antibiotics. You take care now.
McCool, hope you and DH get to feeling better soon.
Babs, taking the quilt to BIL is such an act of charity, hats off to you gal.
So Molly, tell us about any advances in your moving saga.
Carat, yeah, rain. I know that in your area rain is scarce. Hope all your plants are enjoying it.
Well folks, I had a but first day. Was going to get the tulips and daffs planted, but first had to do laundry, then had to stay by phone, as DH new recliner was to be delivered. So by the time the delivery was made, it was time to start supper. Baked that sweet potato, put plenty of REAL BUTTER on it, and just a sprinkle of brown sugar and boy was it good. Then after KP duty, off to the shower, finished a book and checked in here.
You all have a real restful night, dream good dreams, and awake refreshed and ready to tackle that new day.
Night All
