Well back up a little, I was posting while you were new linking....LOL

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Quickly here...
Darius, hope you have a good trip and don't spend too much money, ya' hear? (and I hope you get an appointment & *good* news or at least good meds)

Carol (dr) Any time you want to send the Dahlia tubers, I'll be happy to send the postage. (Just *remember* to let me know so I *don't* forget, ok? hehehe)

ATTENTION!!!
Pizza isn't until tomorrow night! LOL (If you want I can take a pic of the DOUGH tonight if you're in that much of a hurry. LOL)

BB you certainly *were* busy today. Get some rest!

I love 'Air'...could listen to it all night!

Robert! Congratulations!! Get some rest, you'll need it now. ~grin~

Carat...I know that saying very well. But I think *I* am the one who invented it! :-D (What kind of camera did you buy?) Oh...and I can just imagine you getting out on the 14 acres. :-)

Sarv, I remember my first AND last pair of 'bell-bottoms' They were STRIPED...and I kept them long to enough to get back into them *20* years laters...and promptly THREW them away! ROTFL

Holy CATS!!! W already??? Does it STOP with the end of the Alphabet??? I sure hope so!

Carol (dr) and anyone who wants to share...there's MORE of those Black Raspberry ice cream bars in the freezer...help yourself! (Pass those cookies, please...they sound delicious.)

HI JOY!!! I think you lose track just like me. I'm scared to turn my back on this place for more a few hours at a time for fear I won't be able to open it when I get back. hehehe

Will someone else PLEASE go back to the old thread and put a link to this one?

ROTFLMAO...every time I try another post is posted!! :-D

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Ahhhh geez M5...this gets SOOOO messy when it's time for a new one.
LOL
I'm going back to read it now.

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Bought a fuji Z1. Did that tell you anything? Doesn't tell me a thing. LOL. I was thinking of going with a different brand but I have so much money all ready tied up in memory cards that I couldn't bare to start over again. The only reason for buying me a new one is, DD needs a camera for publications class. I wasn't about to spend a couple hundred on buying her a new one when I could buy me a new one and give her the old one.
Lasagna was yummy. A little spicy for me, whimp that I am. I used spicy sausage in the meat sauce just for hubby and he loved it so that is all that counts for now.
Well my day was going pretty good, I have the plumber here now, he is having to snake out the main drain from the skins of the tomatoes I blanch and forgot about before they made it down the disposal. To many things in my head I guess. Well better now then on Thanksgiving Day.
Question, if I am sending someone seeds for a tree that come in pods should I give them some that are out of the pods or ones that are still in the pods?
Okay so when we do move who coming to help me figure out where to place the veggie garden??? I will even have hubby cook. LOL

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

golly, I am away for a few minutes and their is a string of posts
Robert you must be very tired and so is your baby , I bet

Good night, Anne, get a good rest
Maria

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Good Golly Miss Molly, how you all have chatted today.

First Welcome Carat, I would be more than happy to come help you plan your new garden. Just let me know dates etc. Ulterior motive, it's been about 4 years since I was in Las Vegas, and feel the urge to drop some money at the casinos!! Naww, think I will use the money to buy more plants!!

BB, glad that you are feeling better, but please slow down. You did enough today to kill any 2 of GOB's.

Aria, read your posts about the statue. As far as I am concerned that was "educational" and Viola Ann, didn't see a thing wrong with your posts either. Aria, I know that you come from a completely different background, and it probably is worrisome for you, but just consider it a blip on the radar screen of life. No biggie!!

And the food all sounds so good. Pizza, ice cream bars, cookies. DH and I went out for Chinese tonight. Boy was it good. It never ceases to amaze me the amount that people eat at a buffet. We observed this one LARGE woman, who returned to the buffet 5 times. She was on her 6th plate (heaping) when we left!! I would hate to be buying her antiacids tonight!

Darius, have a good trip, kick up your heels, have a good time, and rest, relax and enjoy. Buy you something nice, celebrate, nothing like it to chase the black clouds away.

Robert, what a trip. Fur kid is so cute. How did she weather the trip? After you rest awhile, we expect a blow by blow account of your trip.

Magoobu, glad you popped in. Where's McCool? Babs is at work, so I think we are all accounted for.

Just an update from yesterday. DH did fix the attic stairs today. Now all we need is the sink fixed and the garden (new flower beds) tilled. Then I will be completely happy (till something else comes up!!)

Had a busy day, but didn't get much accomplished. Did some errands this morning, came home did some laundry, cooked a pork loin for tomorrow's lunch, helped DGD saddle her horse and watched her ride, rested some, then off to the Chinese place.

Tomorrow, I am taking DM to church, and staying with her, hate to miss my church but she doesn't drive. Then she insisted that we eat at her house. My contributions are the pork loin, and pumpkin pies.

I too have fallen victim to the buy the spring bulb syndrome. I think that I have about 150 to get in the ground!!

Well off to bed as I need to get up a little earlier in the morning. Sweet dreams to all.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Has every one gone to bed already?
Maria

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Maria - I'm still here! But about to nod off.....you're still up I see....did you get over your cold?

Vegas,NV Filbert, SC(Zone 7b)

Defoecat, well if you are going to be helping with the new garden you will coming to South Carolina not Vegas. I don't have enough room here for a veggie garden. I barely am able to handle tomatoes and peppers in pots here. But you are always welcome to visit until we move.

Gosh all this talking of bulbs and planting fall crops is making me wish even harder for the time to pass quicker.

Casey

Robert, the NEW PUP is gorgeous!!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Night, Gracie!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Have we got slugabugs today? Darned dogs woke us up at 5:30, so have been up awhile.

Fixed pancakes for breakfast if anyone wants any. Variety of toppings on the counter, help yourself.

Going to take DM to church today and stay with her. This is my home church, but have not attended there for many years. DH and DGD are attending our regular church, but will meet up again at lunch.

Weather is cooler here this morning. In the 40's, have the heat on, to take the chill out of the house.

Well, I will check in later, after lunch.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

Morning, every one! The sun is shining as if it got polished, wonderful, myears till hear the rain, lol, but it is not, it is the wind rushing through the trees.
Yes, BB, I feel a lot better!
Maria

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good Morning folks!! Bal that pup is a sweet looking thing. She looks scared!! Hope she spent a quiet night and didn't cry and keep everyone awake!! OH, I want one now...

DR - remember if you are sending dahlia tubers- send me some too - pleaseeeee!!!! I just dug my small ones yesterday. I put them in piles of colors instead of just dumping everything together. Im proud of myself... How are you going to overwinter them (or do you just replant them?) I have dahlia lust right now...

Going to be a nice one again today - sun is just trying to peek above the horizon. Still haven't got that gutter guard stuff up and DH won't do it on a Sunday, so we'll have to try for next week sometime. Just hope the weather holds. I'm ahead of schedule on the gardening stuff for fall - can't believe it! I think today is the day I do geraniums. I always overwinter them -and take starts. I don't think I save a bit of $$, but I get great satisfaction out of doing it and that is priceless in my book!

Did someone say another hurricane...oh no. Hope it just blows its heart out in the Atlantic and doesn't hit shore. I did hear there was another rumbler in Japan.

Pass me a cookie and a plate of lasagna for breakfast . I catch the pizza for lunch. yum. You all are such great cooks.!! I'm making a snack for later on - cream cheese, layer of hormel no beans chili, topped with motzarella cheese - bake till cheese melts. Serve with tostidos - I'll hollar when it's ready.

I am going to learn how to post pics -if anyone does it with a Mac, could you give me a hand!! Darius and Bal - I think you both have them don't ya?

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

good morning all ,
Glad to hear the rain is giving you a break Maria!! :-)
Breakfast is sounding good here guess i will get the coffee and fix something---- hmm bacon and eggs?
Yum

Good morning.

Glad the sun is shining, Maria. Want to send some of it this way?

Don't get worried about the language police. As Darius pointed out there is an automated system to screen posts for possibly offensive language and it only knows English. I can think of several other standard words in other languages which sound like possibly offensive ones in English. With the number of people who belong to DG and generally post freely, they probably have to have some type of system in place. Furthermore, I knew there was nothing wrong with the post; so I sent it. The warning simply suggested that I check the message for language which might be offensive to others. It didn't keep me from posting and if I hadn't previewed the message, I don't think I would have seen it at all.

Speech went well last evening and the dinner was very nice. A remarkable mission but very different from the food bank I run in that it is a Christian Mission and makes no bones about it while the Gloucester Food Cupboard is not connected directly in any way to a church and tries not to espouse any particular religion or set of beliefs. We are well supported by churches but totally independet from them which means if an organization raises money through Bingo or gambling and offers it to us, we are able to accept it though we don't get directly involved in raising any money through such means. We also have a sizeable Muslim clientele as a couple of apartment buildings within our area have large numbers of refugees from Afghanistan living in them.

Gotta go. Am playing my viola with the church choir this morning and need to get dressed, warmed up on the instrument and out the door in an hour.

Ann

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

Oh Viola that sounds like a lovely morning you are going to have!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Carat...if those seeds are from a Catalpa tree, you need to send the whole pod. I just read recently that you start those by just laying the pod on the ground they aren't 'planted'. If it's any other kind of tree, I don't have the foggiest idea. (I'd probably send the pod and let the receiver decide what to do with it. LOL) I like your method of handling the purchase of the new camera (...and, no, the Fuji Z1 didn't tell me a thing. ~grin~ Even tho it did answer what I asked you. )

I've several digital cameras...all of them Sony's. There at the beginning I was buying a new one every year because I wanted the all the new features. I passed each of the 'old ones' down to my DS (2), DGD (1), and the last 'old one' went to DH. That was a couple of years ago and I still have the last one I bought. It's a Sony F717 and I love it. I've probably shot well over 15,000 pics with it and it's still going. Which surprises me a little after yesterday.

I backed out the sliding door, had a bag of bulbs in one hand, a notebook and my camera in the other. Stepped onto the first step to close the door and proceeded to forget there was one more step before I was on flat ground. I fell HARD, twisted my ankle, landed on both knees...and sent the camera pounding across the porch floor.

Funny thing is...I dont remember anything except saying a few nasty words at the sight of my lens cover flying off...and immediately grabbing the camera and turning it on to see if it still worked. Oh MAN!! If I'd broken that camera, I'd be in deep *debt* today. LOL No way will go without my camera! (It STILL works!!! YAH!!!!!!)

Oh, if I got bruises from the fall...I don't know about them yet.
:-D

Hi Anne, Maria, BB, and Darius...

D.cat you did a nice job of responding to everyone. Gee, you only have 150 bulbs to dig? ;-) I planted somewhere around 75 yesterday and barely made a dent in my gluttonous stash. (I think I bought two bags of 100 bulbs each of yellow daffodils, one 50 bulb pack of white and pink short trumpets, a 100 bulb muscari (grape hyacinth...HUGE bulbs!! for muscari!), add to that 10 Crown Imperials (Fritillaria), 10 Allium Globemaster, 10 Allium Gladiator, and another 100 or so species Tulip bulbs...whew! I didn't mean to list the whole lot of them. I was thinking 'out loud'. Now I'm *tired* and haven't even begun to think about what's ahead of me. LOL Someone else can add them up.

Good thing DH made me that bulb auger attachment for the drill. It works like a charm. (Thanks Eric!) It's obviously going to get a real workout before I'm finished.

Well...it's getting light outside now...lets see if the cannas got bit by the frost...........................................ah shoot! They're still standing, all perky and straight. It's going to be Decomber before I can dig them up and call the season 'finished'. :-(

Oh well, better preview this post and see if anyone else is up.

Uh OH!!! Several more have posted since I starte this...so I'll be right back. (No sense in making this any longer at this point. :-D

Mornin' Hap...don't worry about trying to keep up....it's IMPOSSIBLE!!

~julie~

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Mornin! I'll take one of those pancakes please?.....sounds yummy.

You know - there's really one thing I look forward to every week - and that's Sunday morning paper. I love to get in my chair with breakfast, read the funnies, look at all the ad circulars, peruse the real-estate section - and then get down to serious puzzle solving. Seems my Sunday isn't the same without doing that. WE HAVEN'T GOTTEN A PAPER YET! I've called twice....really miffed. So- made a grocery list instead. Got errands to run today.

Weather is really lovely here.....cool and sunny. DH is going to paint when he gets back from the office. He had to go take something out of solution for a test......

No other real news.....everyone have a good day!

Millbury, MA(Zone 5a)

Hi dcat, aria, and everyone else!

The SUN is out! Whoopee! Yesterday evening DH interrupted a customer in my store to point dramatically out the window and exclaim "What is that big, round, shiney thing out there?" Of course it will take the two sump pumps in the cellar at least another couple of days to handle the residual water and the yard is one big green and brown sponge, but at least it finally stopped for now.

I'm on the mend, but DH is now miserable. I think the anti-histamines have knocked him out for the moment.

Yesterday's craft show was a big fizzle. I'm sure a lot of folks took a look at the downpour and said "the heck with it". One possible bright note for me was that a realtor (she looked all of about 18, oh gawd, am I getting OLD or what) really liked one of my gift baskets. She took my card and a brochure, so the fair may have been worth it after all.

That's a real cute puppy, Robert! Hope you all settle in and start to enjoy each others' company real soon.

Kudos to all you ambitious, energetic people out there! Don't think I'm up for all that much yet. At most I may take a look at what's left of my poor, drowned garden and see if I can salvage anything. There may yet be tomatoes that need to be cooked down before they rot.

Good luck with the meds, BB. Have a good trip Darius. Welcome CARAT and congrats on the upcoming escape from Vegas! A big wave to everyone else I haven't named ---- I really haven't forgotten you, my brain just can't retain all of this info at once.

Oh yeah, any of those cookies left? Spiced molasses is one of my favorites, but I'll pass on the moo-juice, never could stand that stuff!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv... first, put the photo you want to post either on the desktop, or where you can find it and know the name of it. Then, just below the box for text to post is a box that says "Image"... put your cursor there, and click the "Browse" button next to it.

That will take you to a menu starting with the desktop where you can scroll through and locate your photo. Click on the photo's name, click Okay, and then click on Preview. Be sure there's text in the text box or it won't work. If it looks like you selected the correct photo, click Send.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Darius - does my photo have to be a certain size on my camera to do that? I am really quite a bright person, but this stuff really buffaloes me!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

BB...good to hear you're feeling better...sorry about your DH though. (Chicken soup to the rescue!)

Anne...you really deserve a day with "adults"...have a GOOD one!!

McC...~BIG GRINS~ for the "BIG SHINY THING OUT THERE!" I can imagine how good it feels after so long in the shadows.

Mornin' Darius...about to get on your way for the trip? (A little note on the uploading: I'm using a PC but I make a folder on my desktop for pics I want to upload. Then I make sub-folders inside that one for DG and 4email. I always rename my pics so I know for sure which one I'm uploading...luckily for the PC users, we have the option to view the files in our folders in thumbnail form, at least in this version of Windows XP)

Hi everyone who has probably posted since I started this reply.
:-D

Lost electricity, now I am at my daughters House in the city, they said we won't have it for hours, what next? It is terribly windy
Maria

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Sarv, YES, I WILL SAVE YOU SOME TUBERS! hehe, have you on my list already. I am going to dig up a lot of them to redo my raised beds. I usually overwinter them in the raised beds but need to redesign them better. Get some sawdust, layer the tubers in the box carefully, keep them in a cool, but not freezing place, and they should do fine. I am glad that you have "dahlia lush", it can be addicting, I think.

Julie, hope you and the camera are ok. Next time, just drop everything but the camera, as you fall, lol. Hope the ankle is ok to finish all those bulbs you need to plant! My, you have a lot to do now.
I have a few bulbs to plant but am waiting for things to die down first.

McCool & Aria, am glad that you guys finally have some sunshine!

Magoobu, have a nice day without the kid! I do remember those days when you get a day that you can do what you want without a kid hanging on.

Hap, hope you have a good cruise too. Hope the hurricane weather won't make a mess of your schedule.

I will have some of those eggs and bacon. Will pass on pancakes, never cared for them.

Am not sure what I am going to do today. It finally stopped raining last nite and maybe I can get the lawn mowed now. Need to continue on my retaining wall tho. Will at least get the ground ready for the railroad ties that I need to get somehow.
So hope everyone has a good Sunday.
Later, Carol (DR)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, do you have iPhoto? I resize my pics to 640 x 480 so they upload better... and cut the resolution to 72 dpi, which is all our monitors will show anyway.

Eggs and Bacon sounds great... where's the grits? Haven't had a decent breakfast in a while...

Probably not leaving for Boone until tomorrow instead of today. Still have things I need to do here today, and if I leave after that, I'd end up driving after dark before I get there (which I don't do well).

Maria... Sigh. No neighbor who could have opened the garage door for you so you didn't hurt the back again?

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Sheeesh! Took me a half hour to catch up!! I'll pass on the goodies, we went out for breakfast with friends so my tank is already on Full. Dcat, we had frost too, but lightly and only in the lowest areas, everything has survived, so I'm putting any digging on hold for a bit too.

Julie don't start this tripping falling bruising cycle again, last time we all followed suit and we don't need a rerun of that!! With as many bulbs as you have to put in, you need to stay in peak condition...or rent a back hoe. I got to over 500 on your list and then I quit. My 120 bulbs look quite manageable now. I have one of those tall bulb planter tools, but you have to shove it into the ground with your foot. With our clay soil sometimes I have to knock the plug out with a screwdriver or something, and then not put the clay back in the hole, replace it with topsoil instead. Go check your Phlox thread, I did get to the landscaping place on our way home this morning. http://www.dekorraproducts.com/default.html (if anyone else is interested in big fake rocks. )

BB I love the Sunday paper so much, I get two of them, one local one for Milw. area news, and the Chicago Tribune for the excellent editorial commentary, lots of comics, puzzles, home and garden section, and extra coupon inserts. The coupons usually make up for the cost of the paper.

Maria with no electricity....if it "ain't one thing, it's another" but I'm sure you'll enjoy being with your DD. And the rain has stopped!

Magoobu, a No Kid day, woohoo!! Enjoy it! It's also good for the DH because then he gets a good seasoning of what it's like to do it every single day....

Too bad the craft fair turnout wasn't good, but if a realtor took your card, it means she probably buys gifts for her customers, and buyers which could be a continuing customer for you! Our neighbor brought over a bag of very ripe tomatos yesterday, I will be making salsa this afternoon because there is no way they can sit for another day. He said the "green ones" would ripen....I looked in vain for a green one...DH said, well there's one with some green around the stem...........such a good helper, isn't he?

DR, do you have to buy RR ties? I've never used them because of the preservatives that leach into the ground. Of course, everything else rots! Even the landscape timbers you buy at the garden places have arsenic in them, unless you are in a state that prohibits its use.

Drat my soggy brain, made an appointment at the vet for Souky who has developed some kind of skin problem around her mouth and chin, and forgot that I had a dental appt that same morning. So now I have to write myself a big note to call them tomorrow morning, and reschedule her for later in the day. Grrr. I hate when I do that.

Sun's shining, doors are open....must be something I can do outside! Darius, have a good trip and have a super day, everyone else~.

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

M5, No I don't have to buy some rr ties. I ended up with these free. But I need something to hold up the bank so... I have put a layer heavy plastic against the rr tie, hoping this will keep the creosote from getting in touch with the soil. If I was real energitic, I would put some other type of board there too, but... So I don't have much choice on what to use for a retaining wall. The dahlias I want to put there don't root too deep so maybe they will be ok. All will tell in time. Live and learn.
Carol (DR)

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Darius - no I don't have iphoto -oh well, maybe I won't be posting any pics- I so enjoy all of the ones others post and would love to share my gardens....maybe someday..

DR---- Oh thank you, thank you, for sharing your tubers....what a friend you are...This has made my day and I won't be grouchy until tomorrow!! And of course I will reimburse you for postage and anything else you want.

Ive done nothing today other than make beds, do dishes and laundry - I've been at the computer the rest of the day!! DS first serious girlfriend just got married and she sent the wedding photos to me- I still see her sometimes and think a great deal of her - sorry it didn't work out, but that's life. I'll take the one he chose! Staying in touch with those I've known for years gives me so much pleasure.

Maria- now no power- well at least the rain has stopped!! Gotta take the good with the bad. Hope the crud is leaving you and you feel alive again. I always get sick at the holidays -stress I think!

Gonna go to the barn and see what DH is doing. He swears he has SOOO much work to do out there, but a couple of times I've gone out to see him and he has been snoozing - sitting up on a stool. How he manages NOT to fall off is beyond me!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, not having iPhoto doesn't preclude you posting photos! Just give one a try, and see how it works. The Test Forum is a good place to try one...
