YUM, Julie! I haven't had pizza in at least 18 months.
Spent some of today bringing in my tender plants... BUT FIRST I had to make a space for them, LOL. Looks like we could have frost anytime from tonight to when I get back home next Wed. or Thurs. Couldn't risk a freeze when I'm not here, although I did not bring in my 3 brugs yet. One has 8-10 buds and I think they are fairly well protected, at least until I get home.
Plus, cleaned a bit in my kitchen. Still have more to do so I'm not mortified when Robin comes down to feed my cat while I'm gone!
Rest of the afternoon spent getting things ready for my trip. My list of things to get when I go to/by a "big" city grows, LOL. Sam's (food shopping and tires), Sears (Diehard Battery), Radio Shack (rechargeable AA batteries), plus a few fun stops. Probably take me most of a day on the way home.
I won't have computer access except Sunday night and Monday morning, staying with LizH. Then I'll move to Downscale_babe's log cabin for a couple of nights and there's no TV much less a computer!
Coffee and...Part 39...! :-D
The visions that went through my head with the speedo remark were, well lets just say, it's wrong.
Actually what I took was Emergency Family Medical Leave. Long story but I took leave to take care of my mother and then my father at the end of their lifes. They have both passed now and I am hoping for the sake of all that I am able to return to work by the first week in November.
My DH's favorite saying is he understands now why some animals eat their young. DD is driving us nuts today. Being the horrible and cruel people we are, requiring she help with a couple chores before going to hang out at a friends house. Funny thing is that the friend was suppose to call early this morning but didn't because she was helping her mother do some chores.
This thread sure does move quickly. I just went up to buy me a new camera and when I got back I was a few chapters behind.
Carat I think in my speed reading i missed you come in sorry.
Welcome to dave's
Anne
Maria - don't worry about a thing- we all did nothing wrong - just discussing art. I never preview, so I may have missed a warning myself. It was all in good taste anyhow. I found it educational!
We just got back from chinese with my folks. Then we stopped over to see DS and his family. There were babysitting a 3 and 4 yr old, so we didn't stay long!! Man, I forget how wild kids can be!! They were tearing around sliding on the floor and really whooping it up. Made me tired!!
Darius -how come you're going on a trip - did I miss something?
DH got all the lights on my new plant stand and it's a beauty!! Next week I'll be digging up all my geraniums and probably the brugs. Today I dug up all my small dahlias and put them in piles by color. Usually I just throw them all together -- Im trying to be organized this year!
Pass on the speedos - I find them revolting. And men with big bellies prancing around - NO THANKS!! There's some things that need to be covered...
I wore a pair of flared blue jeans today and felt kinda silly in them. My new DIL said 'oh you look so cute on those' - I wasn't trying to be cute - just in style!! I remember wearing them back in college years ago - along with the Beetles. (only we called them bell bottoms back then)
Time to go curl up on the couch with a good book and the heating pad - feels like winter here tonight!
Sarv, I'm making a trip to Boone to do 2 of the 3 things I had hoped to accomplish. The third thing was an appt. with a Pulmonologist for a 2nd opinion, and haven't gotten an appt. yet.
But, I need to actually SEE the gravesites we bought some years ago, and what is or isn't there in the way of markers we paid for. Then, look at a few properties my sister and I are interested in. The plus is that I get a visit with Lizh, and Dowbscale_Babe.
Sounds good Darius - have a good trip - enjoy yourself and kick your heels up a little. Hope you can get in for your 2nd opinion.
Well,, Sarv, did not know Darius is going places either, we must have missed something!
I know what you mean about boisterous kids, my neighbors have a bunch of them, after a while I even tell the m to cut it out I am getting a head ache, mother usually will say < you heard Mrs Ramspott, so cut it out> LOL
Everybody has been so busy cleaning and gardening, I have not done a thing:-((
Right now I am eating yogurt with Vermont Maple syrup I mixed in to it, very good, you should try it, better than any ice cream
Please lets not mention the word winter, if that pattern of bad weather keeps up can you imagine what it is going to be like?
Maria
Maria, long before real winter, we still have this:
Another hurricane brewing in the Gulf...
ALL INDICATIONS ARE THAT THERE COULD BE A DANGEROUS HURRICANE IN THE NORTHWESTERN CARIBBEAN SEA IN THE NEXT 3 TO 5 DAYS.
This will be "Wilma" http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/
Please don't tell me, Darius, they are going to run out of the alphabet if that keeps up and people out of homes, awful!
Maria
This is for Ann(Viola) and all those that like classical music, just listening to "Air on the G String" unbelievable beautiful, am playing it over again can not get enough of it, find it it better for depression than any medicine
Maria
Nice to know Maria will check that out
Anne
Darius, I too hope you have a nice and safe trip. Which mountains in NC are you in? Not that I would know any of them. I do know where Kings Mountain is though. Thats a start.
Magoobu, I snuck in with the riff raff. Sorry didn't mean to startle you.
Bought a new digital camera today. Very nice. Now I can't seem to get it talk to the computer. Something about the drivers. Wore down the batteries on the camera so much I have to wait for them to recharge before I start to play with it again.
The picture is of my gardening space in the back yard. Not much there. I am going to go into shock going from this to 14 acres. Good thing is when it happens and I scream, no one will be able to hear me. YEAH.....
Made lasagna for dinner for hubbies birthday. YUMMY. Can't wait for the left overs tomorrow and I haven't even eaten tonights.
Great shot Carat and I seem to sneak in here and there too so no worries.
Anne
My, you guys sure have been chatty today.
Julie, I would love a black raspberry ice cream bar, pass it over here. Plus I will be glad to send you some dahlia tubers when I did them up. You know that.
Sarv, yeah, I would keep looking for that TV entertainment center and hope you get it at a time you need to get back at your DH, hehe. BELL BOTTOM JEANS! Oh my. I do remember and did wear them in the 70's with the Beatles too.
Darius, hope you do have a good trip. Sounds like you will get some good things done in the "big" city. Enjoy other people's company too. Have fun.
Molly, when my son and I visited Fort. Lau. almost 3 years ago, we really got an eye full of anything goes down on the beach. Men with all kinds of bellies showing, girls (my son loved this royally) and their g-string bikinis, the cars on the strip, etc.
Welcome, Carat. Sounds like you have a "normal " family with "normal" kids, lol. Just wait for the boy, he will become a terror maybe. Can't say much for girls, only have 2 boys. The older one is a good 22 year old but the younger at 18, can't wait until he graduates from hs and moves out!!!! Love them but can do without them in the same room!
Aria, hope you do stop raining sometime. It seems kind of early for all that darn rain. I can imagine it would make you kind of have cabin fever.
It has been raining here and the wind has been nasty too. My poor, poor dahlias! Spent the morning deadheading and staking them again. The rain has just about melted some of the blooms, so sad. Am not ready for winter yet. Got another railroad tie in place and their rebar holding them up in place. Now I just need about 10 more rr ties to finish the job!
I bought a small 4' x 6' greenhouse that is just covered with plastic. It has some plastic covered wire shelves in it too. The store here had another 10% off, so I couldn't resist. I wanted this one last spring but decided not to spend the money. But now I really wanted it so I got it. Haven't spend much money on ME lately so I treated myself for once. Now I can have my tender plants in there and also start some flower seeds in the late winter, I hope, inside it.
Made some very delicious molasses cookies last nite. Even my son said they were very good. So they are on the counter, have one with Julie's ice cream bar, nice pair, hehe.
Carol (DR)
Cookies--- Yum I am all over it thank you
Anne
Fine, there will be some milk to go with the cookies too, hehe
I was going to take a picture of the cookies but thought people wouldn't want to be tempted too much, lol
Bal, what a sweetie........enjoy!
-Joy

Oh, my, Bal, what a cutie puppy! How old now? Can't remember what you had said before. You will have to keep us posted on the training of her then.
Yep, the cookies are great for a bedtime snack too.

No matter, daisy, our temptation bar is set VERY low....we only need the written word to set us off!! I'm sitting here yawning and it's not even nine o'clock....and it's not because I exerted myself to any extent today. Neighbor came over and left a bag of ripe tomatos on the steps, had some with dinner, sweet and wonderful. There's so many, I will be making salsa to use them up. They are almost too ripe....and won't last long.
I like all my kids better now that they don't live with me. I did enjoy them and we always had a houseful of their friends, but I think the noise alone would do me in now. I don't even like crowds all that much anymore, unlike my bellbottom days when I could sit on the ground shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of people,to hear a Pink Floyd concert, and not be stiff for days afterwards!
Good news, HoWerd will be officially joining my DS and DIL in November...I guess his letter did the trick! DS was a little resistant, at first but he finally caved...and there's no doubt in my mind who will be doing the "clean up" chores.
Looked at my geraniums today trying to decide if I want to try to overwinter them........nahhhhh...it's more trouble than it's worth. The garage(s) are too cold, the basement is too warm, it's too crowded, (how am I doing?) yadda yadda yadda
Lasagna! One of my favorites! Save me a slice. Or two.
Yawnnnnnnnnn, say goodnight Gracie....
Edited to say what a sweet faced girl you brought home, Robert. And, yikes! we have a new thread. Now it's edited twice.
