Poor NO got "whomped" again only this time in football?

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Welcome back Sarv, glad you had a good weekend. I want to know if you took pictures of the changes DH made while you were gone? If it is like my house, it will be a long while before that happens again, and if you had pictures, you could get them out ever so often and dream. How very nice of him. My DH is considerate once in awhile.

Robert, just got back in the house from helping a neighbor get an escaped horse back in the pasture. I have on shorts, short sleeve T-shirt and flip flops. It is 50 degrees, and misting rain. It was about a 2 mile hike to accomplish this, my toes are really cold. I may have to reconsider and bring out the shoes a little earlier than I normally do.

Julie, I didn't think about that, I wouldn't purposely buy a ticket for that place, as for help out, surely some of GOB friends would extend a hand. Oh wow, sounds like the car switch of the century. I don't know if I could do without suspension or not. I am in the same boat as you, short, 5'1", and itty bitty short legs.

Morning Gayle, Say the flower sale is on Mother's Day, okay, I want to be the first to claim a space on your floor or couch. That sure sounds like a good thing to be doing. I can do dogs and cats, but what other kinds of furbys do you have?

Well, I am going to get something to eat, had homemade beef stew for lunch, with a big chunk of cornbread. Let's see if it is as good as it was at lunch. Help yourselves.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Yup Football.

And the Astros just won the longest post season game in history. 7-6.

mg

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

D-cat~~just a guinea pig. Oh, and the dust elephants, but I haven't named all of those yet.

mg

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hi everyone. I was only gone since Tuesday and still haven't caught up with all the posts. I did find a way to go to my ride series, decided to go for it and 3 hrs later was on my way with 2 horses. The first day I rode my mare on a 60 mile ride, got bucked off her at about 15 miles, and finished the ride on her. The other 3 days I rode my young gelding 50 miles each day, finished all of them for a total of 210 for the week. Since I hurt my hand and it is hard to type I will do mostly lurking for a couple of days. Just checking in for now. See ya.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Ouch Mary! I hope you aren't hurt too bad. I had many unexpected "offings", broke a few bones too in the process. How did you find a way to go? And how are you in the standings? I'm rooting for you!

One handed or not I'm addicted to DG, lol.

mg

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Sorry about your hand Mary. Yes tell us your story, even one handed!

Morning Gayle, you have dust elephants, I have them also, DGD is starting to name them, as she loves animals. She brings her hamster occasionally so that I can visit with him!!

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

Mary, great news that u were able to go -- ouch on the off the saddle trip! Is this going to keep u up close to the top in points?

Welcome to Dotti! Great piece of property, Molly... sure wish I had an acreage. We had 5 acres 2 miles from town from '89 to '94 but everyone wanted to move back to town, except me, so that's what we did. :(

Someone asked about the GOB's age and I believe we settled on 50, for the qualifying age, many, many threads ago! LOL!

DH went and bought the bike on Fri. It's already winterized so they're gonna keep it there till spring. U like??

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

All for one and one for all, how many of us are there now? I've lost count! As for dust elephants, I haven't looked under my bed in five years and I'm not breaking tradition now.

Too late to do much but catch up, so I'll look in first thing in the morning. There's Dump Cake on the counter if anybody needs a bedtime snack. It's good with a blob of ice cream melting on top.....

Night Gracie

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Oh geez meezer, I was doing so good until the dump cake. Think Iwill have a piece and then off to the bedroom, where I may or may not sleep!!

Night John Boy.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Lordy, M5, I've lost count too!

Say Goodnight, Gracie.
"Goodnight, Gracie"

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

NOOOOOOO...krooger....send it here, I will keep it for the winter......I'll make sure that it keeps running all winter. You know you'll have to keep starting it anyway, so I will take that bad task off your hands....lol

It's a beauty, but I can't tell the make from the pic...whatcha got?

Hap

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

First one up today! I'll pass on the dump cake - I made brownies in cupcake thingies and man, that is the way to do it!! Cream cheese brownie/cupcakes on the counter- only two left!!

mg- what is the magic clock??? Do I have one? Do I need one?

mary - how dare that darn horse buck you off - after all you've done for them. Do you get back on it once it does that to you? Give it a swat??

Kooger= some bike - do you have a side car?

Pass the 2x4 up here again - I knew it wouldn't last. DH got on a tangent about me not sleeping with him again. This happens once I week I swear - I TOLD HIM AGAIN, that I would sleep with him, but when the snoring starts, HE moves to another bed, not me!! He left in a snit this morning without saying goodbye. Oh well, what's a gal to do?

I'm not working out today as I walked soooo far along the beach yesterday and my exercise partner is on a wine tour. Shame on her for not inviting me!!

Along the way home yesterday I passed the most gorgous dahlia field. I may go back today and take a walking tour. They don't have any signs out, so don't think they are 'sellers', but I may just ask if they would consider selling some. Is that too bold?? Guess they could just say NO!

Cat is scratching at the door to be let in - gotta do it before she destroys the screens!! Welcome to all the newbies too - pull up a chair.

Rehoboth, MA(Zone 5a)

I feel awfull with bronchitis, coughung and a runny, stuffed up nose plus sinus haedache, want to sleep but I can't.

Am Iin the right thread? Motor cycles for GOB's?? I could not add anything to that If I got paid! :-)))

Maria, I was a biker chick for years and I want a bike again. (65 and young at heart) By bike was stolen just before I moved to FL and I never replaced it. Now I am miserable because I didn't. I'm retired and I "only drive to church on Sundays" so I am not doing the hundreds of miles a month like I used to. I still think it's a great idea.

My DD, who is on her way now. as we speak, from Chicago would have me committed. She has already threatened it. She would really have a bird...LOL Of course she just bought a scooter to run around town in just a couple of weeks ago, so I don't know why she is such a poor sport about me getting one.......I won't be driving in downtown Chicago....LOL

YUP, by baby is on her way.....you know what that means, GOBs??????? I won't be seeing you very much until Friday. SHE IS WORK.....She has all the energy.....just like I did 20 years ago....dern....I can't wait til she gets older and slows down a little, but she has always been that way. Doing 3 things at once. I can't keep up physially OR mentally....LOL But, one things for sure, we sure do have fun. We are joined at the hip. I have decided that in my next trip up to Chicago, which will be at Christmas time for OUR Party, that we are going to get tatoos.......Is that a Mother-Daughter Thing to do? Weeeel,, it is now!!!

Have to get dressed because before she comes, our Galloping Gardener's Group is meeting at Flamingo Gardens....a garden/zoo/plant store kinda place, near here. After we discuss all that is worth discussing and a few more things, we go to lunch and discuss things some more. It is a wonder day spent with friends.....AND we are all DGers....met through DG. There are five of us now and we want more members to come with us. So if you are out there lurking, "come one down......."

See ya later, GOBs....don't work too hard....ROTFLLLLLLLLLL

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Chicago Happy? Well now you're stomping in my neck o' the woods! Ask your DD if she has visited Galena or Dubuque. If she hasn't wheeeeeee!

Sarv~~On the post waaaay back about numbers in a row, if your clock says 1:23, 4:56, you also listed 6:78. I want a clock with those extra 18 mins a hour too! That's your magic clock, lol!

mg

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

MG,,,I will ask,,in about 5 hours...heheh

I have a clock like Sarv.....only when bad things are happeing.....time stops or just never ends...lol

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

mg- ok, now I get it!! 678 thing....LOL

aria- get in a chair with a good book, tv on or radio, hot tea handy, heating pad and just veg the day away. I also am a believer in drinking LOTS of liquid. Haven't had the crud yet this year, but it is a matter of time bofore it pays me a visit.

weather is gloomy and cold out. I don't want to crank on the heat yet (but my heating pad is roaring!), so I will need to bundle up. Is this going to be a long cold winter or what.... sob

I need to get my butt going today - I have a bedroom that you can't even walk in (edit 3 bedrooms!!) And company coming Oct 22.

Hey has anyone ever done 'sudoku'? It is a numbers game played on the computer or paper. My friend found it at miniclip.com. Oh man, is it addictive.... I'm gonna do ONE, then get working... LOL

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Morning! I'll have a brownie with my coffee for breakfast! Yum! Dump cake was all gone this morning anyway. I converted the recipe I use to make just a half in an 8X8 pan, so I can use a jiffy cake mix for it. Did something else for dinner too, found a recipe in the Sunday paper for sweet and sour chard It's pretty good, and I'm picking the last of what's growing, just the leaves that don't have holes! This should be the end of it. The red stem chard is so pretty, I think I'm going to mix it in with flowers again next year. It got pretty tall though, so not in the same spot.

Nifty ride, kooger! Will you get a chance to cruise on it before winter sets in or does winterizing mean it just waits until spring? You have as much car shuffling going on as we do. I think DH is done for the year as we have again run out of space (again) and he will be parking on the driveway and scraping snow and ice all winter. Going to be nice today so I plan to go out and pull up dead/dying vegetation, soak the trees and shrubs, and start thinking about what goes where next year.

Maria, you surely have been having a bad week, what with your aches and pains and now a nasty case of bronchitis! I hope it clears up quickly, and you feel better soon. Sending you some good thoughts, and I am sure everyone else is, too.

Ouch! Mary, that sassy horse threw you! Has that happened before? That must have hurt! I thought we were Fall Free for a bit, since nobody has reported any recent mishaps....maybe this will give us all immunity for a bit. Lurk anyway, it will take you forever to catch up, otherwise.

Sarv, maybe your DH was hoping for a "reward" after doing the plant stands and the vacuuming.........LOL... and now you've disappointed him. My DD's hubby has a snoring problem, even had that surgery to correct, and he STILL snores like a trooper. Nothing has helped, so she ends up on the futon in the family room if she wants to get any sleep. My DH doesn't snore, but he breathes loudly and heavily when he first falls asleep so I try to get to bed before he does or else I stuff my ears with cotton so I can only hear my own breathing. Sounds like you had a fun weekend though! You should check out the Dahlias for sure, all they can do is refuse you, and many folks don't keep the smaller tubers. What have you got to lose? Except lawn....lol.

DS and DIL are packing like mad, and yesterday they were cleaning. DS has a platform bed that hasn't been moved in four years and she said there was an unbelievable amount of dust bunnies and cat hair and whatnot underneath it...send me an email that started "hack hack, cough , sneeeze wheeeeeze!!" We had planned to go see "In Her Shoes" yesterday afternoon while the Packers were playing (and winning by golly) but she got overwhelmed with chores.

mg, how far is Dubuque? I should go to Yahoo maps and check it out. Plant sales are addicting........and I can cram a lot into my car! Woohoo ....only 173 miles.....hmmm, have to think about this!!

Happy, isn't your daughter the one who did that gorgeous garden makeover? That was spectacular.....if I'm right, post the link so some of our newcomers can check it out. If I'm wrong. well, blame it on my failing synapses...and do tell us about your tattoo plans...my DS got a hummingbird on her shoulder, and then her son gave her a gift certificate and she had eyeliner done. It has held up very well, and I've kind of been tempted but so far have resisted.

I need to get busy!! Been sitting here for an hour already! Have a great day everyone!!

Edited to add: NOT doing soduku, I have enough addictions to supply a small army and don't need another!!

Good for you, Happy, that's the spirit, I also want you to know my children where not allowed on one of those vehicles, especially after two of their school mates got killed on these bikes.

Sarv and Meezer, I drink lots of fluid, tea and OJ all day long but I guess I just have to wait it out, last year I started the same way ending up with walking pneumonia.

Weather is horrid, so much rain some towns are flooded as if we had a hurricane

see you later

Magoo, 2 brats, lol. Nathan is 14, he will be 15 on Dec 7th, I think it is very appropriate that he was born on the Date of Infamy! Miss JennaRose is 6.5 now and I call her my Diva-in-Training! Oy that girl will argue with me at my funeral about whether I am really dead or not. I'll scare up some pics one of these days. Now critter pics I've got, rofl!

Add 2 dogs, 2 cats, 1 guinea pig and the dust elephants and I have a housefull. Oh yeah, and dh.

mg

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. This makes the 5th time this same horse has bucked me off when something scared her so I will be selling her. She needs a fearless rider with quicker reactions. It was a hard decision because I owned her mother whom we lost to colic about 4 winters ago, and I also have her half brother who is so good. I did catch her after she ran through a fence, she was unhurt except for minor stratches and I rode her another 35 miles that day. I don't give up easily.

Aria, take care of yourself, I hope this bug doesn't have you down for long.

Back to lurking. Have a great day.

Phoenix, MD(Zone 7a)

MG you have a housefull LOL
Love to see pictures!
Anne

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Aaah Mary, I'm sorry, that is a hard thing to have to decide. But I know you did all you could with her and you will find her a good place to go.

Good Morning everyone!! No time at the moment to even write a few of my thoughts about what's going on with everyone...except to say...Maria and Mary, I hope you're both feeling better real soon!

I just wanted to let you all know that my pics are posted on the UW site as of this morning. Here's the link
http://wisplants.uwsp.edu/scripts/detail.asp?SpCode=TEUCAN Scroll down past the main photo. Mine are in the additional pics.

Oh...AND I will be back in a little while to start a new thread. We're getting 'up there' with the number of posts already.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Too cool Julie! I've seen these in the field behind my dad's house I think.

mg

Albany, OR(Zone 8a)

Exhasted, that is what I am besides being sore.
I spent the day yesterday putting up a retaining wall in the back of my property. Long story but here the short of it. There is a ditch in the back because the guy behind me had them put it in for drainage. When I bought this house (new), he said he will fill it in with gravel and the soil on top. Well, he later said that his builder said not to fill it in. So I am stuck with a huge ditch at the egde of my property.
So yesterday, I moved 10, note I said 10, railroad ties by myself to put them in place and get them level. Had to move some huge concrete pieces too. My son did come to help me move only 4 of the biggest concrete pieces tho.
So in the picture you will see the finish product or shall I say the 2/3 of the product. Still need more rr ties to finish it off.
The reason I need to do this is because my dahlias are all leaning toward the slope and they are so hard to stake at the angle.
Sarv, go visit the dahlia field!!! Wished I was there to visit with you, lol. My favorite type of place.
Kooger, love that bike. I used to ride motorcycles when younger too and love the way the wind would blow my hair, lol. I understand what you mean, Hap.
Dcat, wished you were here even today. Am going to another garden club potting party so will tell you more later on what goodies I got to dig up and bring home myself!
Aria, hope you get well soon. It is way too early for you to be sick yet.
Mg, you are just starting with that teenager boy. Just wait a few years! I have 2 boys, now 18 & 22, so know all about them.
Mary, hope you heal from the horse fall. Maybe you should get rid of that horse if it keeps throwing you.
If I forgot anyone, sorry, I need to get to work early so I can leave for that potting party.
On the counter, have a piece of pizza for breakfast, lol.

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Carol (dr), wow what a wall! And your dahlias are to die for, my goodness!

You take lots of Motrin, hot bubble and Epsome Salt baths and get real friendly with your heating pad.

I know I'm just a the tip of the teenage iceberg, lol. But dang it, he has more horemones than braincells now! What will he be like in a few more years? Never mind!! I do NOT want to know.

Happy happy joy joy!

mg

Oh my not sure I want to know either mine is only 5 now and thinks he is all grown up LOL
Daisy great picture!

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

Molly - Your place will be great! How big is your property? I lived in a mobile home for years, and it worked out well for us. It wasn't nearly as well made as they are now.

Viola - I'm glad you asked about "GOB's!" Everyone had been talking so much about "bikes" (since I have been reading this thread) I thought it was "Girls On Bikes!" LOL I didn't ask for fear of being kicked out (never owned a bike!)

Welcome, AudreyJo! I hope I have a DIL like BB some day.

Hello, Dotti. I'm not sure if I'm a GOB or GOBette, but next year I wll celebrate the sixteenth anniversary of my 29th birthday! (shhh...it's a secret!)

Robert - you would love a room in my house! The former owner shingled the walls in one of the bedrooms! (Yes, ladies, it looks awful not to mention they were old, used shingles and smell like it! I won't be able to redo that room for several more months, so using it for storage right now.)

Julie - are you freezing yet? It's not even 60 degrees in my house this morning. I try to hold out until November before turning on the furnace. Called about the price of LP this morning - $1.59 per gallon if you purchase 250 gallons or more.
Hope you can make it to the RU Gathering.

Mg - I love Galena. My sisters and I have made the trip for the past two years at Wine fest time. We chose that time of year the first year because there was a dinner theatre in the area my sister had heard about. We went at the same time last year, but couldn't find any shows. Arboretum is lovely! I would consider driving over for the Spring sale, but my daughter will be home that weekend, so maybe another year.

Hap - I agree about Julie's photos. I haven't seen them yet, but it's exciting to know they are posted.

Sarv - I'm glad you had a wonderful time, and what a nice surprise those plant stands were!

See ya later, all!
Jody

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

Well ya know Jody, Galena is great at Christmas too. And you can drive over to see the Arboretum any old time, just LMK!!!

Was that a subtle enough HINT ya think?

mg

Merrimac, WI(Zone 4b)

MG,

I will definately contact you, if I can visit. I'm trying to get over that way to visit my daughter, Sara, before December.

Jody

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Carol (DR), do you have an extra tuber of that red one? Red is my favorite. Does it have a name? You have done a beautiful job on the project and the beauty will last while the aches will soon be gone.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Very cool wall! I'd fill in that ditch for sure. Gorgeous dahlias! Would love to see those out a window! Now rest up!

I went back to our first sessions, because I had a vague memory of someone posting how to defrag, so I did that. what a bunch of chatters we are! One day when I'm snowed in, I'm going to read them all. Would we make a book??? LOL

Back to work. Not nice out after all. Cloudy and windy. Poooo

Bloomingdale, OH(Zone 6a)

M5, do you understand the point of running defrag? I can explain if you want. And how often do you do it?
