gm MG, I fell out at 10 or so last night, so I woke up at 4:30 ick! It is rainy so I guess I'll nap later. Still getting over a cold that kicked my butt this week.
I didn't see where you guys started a new thread so I missed a few installments lol. I am just going to jump back in and try to catch up later.
I have had to do the laundromat thing too, makes me want to get rid of some clothes!
Have a nice day everyone, I'll check back in later.
Rachel
Coffee and...Part 37...! :-D
Good morning everyone.
MG that is what this thread is for is'nt it? Being able to admit stuff like the laundry and laugh about it!
Have a great day all it is awful rainy here so much Skillet (puppy)"went" in the house! The rain must be too much for her tiny body LOL
I too will be doing laundry today as well as a 6 year old birthday party at an ice rink!
Neither my or I skate so this should prove to be an interesting thing to do- also I think an odd choice to put 20 kids on ICE!
Be back later
Anne
Darius you are the photo of the day -- the shot of the front of the house!!
YEAH!!
MG - I'm right there with you on the laundry thing! I NEVER catch up.....some times - I feel like piling it all in the car - going to the laundromat with all my money and just staying till it's all done......maybe if I did this - I could then start keeping up with it - NOT! I HATE laundry.
Well - my ambition had to go to work this morning (DH that is!) so we'll not get to painting until after he comes home. Probably best - kind of cool this morning to be in the shade painting! I guess I better go and get dressed and do some errands before then.
Babs - that comforter/quilt is really neat. I had to look at the picture a long time to discover that the material is what makes it look like intricate ruffles between the green - very clever and I'm sure the receipent will LOVE it - if not - send it to me! LOL
Everyone have a good day!
Marcia
I'm up.....I think.......reallllll slow today.....
Bab's that comforter looks like a million. What patience you have to do that sort of thing AND to have it look professional on top of it.....
D'Cat....do you realize that our dogs have trained US?????? They rule the house, not us......Tis a sorry shame that we have gone down the tubes like that LOL I wouldn't have it any other way.....Now about the talking thing......NO WAY....think about it.......There are things that happen in the house that I would Never want anyone to hear.....I can just see Archie (His name is Archibald......until we had him "fixed" now we call him..........are you ready..........really ready................Archi-Ball-less.), tattling everything. OK, OK, don't everyone BOO at once.....it hurts his ears...lol
Vi.....I also thought that was a great idea of saving my ironing in my freezer until I was ready.....UNTIL.............I threw out about $100 worth of linen napkins........ Here it is so hot in the summer that I don't put all my bones, etc out in the garbage because it would start to walk and smell, so I put the stuff in small grocery carry-home bags in the freezer by my back door. Well as far as I can surmise, in a hurry one garbage day, I pulled out the baggies including my ironing and it all went bye-byes.....I'm sick about it for they matched the Irish linen cloth that was given to me by someone special. But, gone is gone.
Well, I don't know if I am going to get any gardening before the rain,,,,,,again....Would like to have all fixed before Thanksgiving and the crowd comes and inspects how I now spent my life. It's getting darker and darker....UGH.
See ya later.
Love ya all.
Hap
"there's a difference between landscaping and gardening"
Gayle...THANK YOU for making me stop in my 'a little depressed' tracks and take a look at my *gardening* accomplishments from another perspective! (I wrote the whole story, then decided it wasn't all that important and deleted it. LOL) Now I'm not feeling nearly as inadequate as I was yesterday. OH...I'd better explain that it *wasn't* the landscaping or the setting surrounding Darius' home that caused it. (But I do have to admit a 'pang' of longing when I saw the beautiful place she lives in. :-)) Thanks again, Gayle!
GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!!! (That's me changing the subject...hehehe)
You peeps have a great conversation going on here...dream kitchens past and present, linens (I LOVE linens!), ironing, FREEZING linens(??!??) that's a SUPER idea!, all the talk about the pros and cons of fridges (I *need* a new one...but it MUST have a good ice maker and through the door despenser)...I never knew exactly what Radon was (Thanks for the explanation on that one!)...I LOVE the idea of writing a letter to a loved one from a puppy!...is there actually someone out there who thinks that our pets *don't* talk to us???...gotta get another cuppa, anyone else need one?.....................sorry 'bout that, had to make a fresh pot then there was the 'coffee in/coffee out' that took a minute and the "I hate to give myself shots" insulin that had to be done (Geez!)...now back to my thoughts...ICE SKATING??? 20 KIDS and the adults don't skate??? (Wish I could see this one! LOL)...hubby going hunting, wife going to PAINT (or organize closet?) I'd never get it done before my DH got home (Not that he ever leaves, mind you)...COUNTING?!! I thought *I* was the only one that did that! I don't seem to be to walk without counting steps, if I don't count EVERY step I count repititions of 5 or 10 or a dozen until I get where I'm going (Does that say something about us??)...I see a lot of license plates with messages in them, the latest was B4UDIE (That one DH noticed and wanted to know what a 'Yoodie' was...he probably thought it was Rock group. But I set him straight telling him it was probably 'Before you die' LOL)...how do you reading my comments they way they present themselves in my thoughts (and you *thot* you were *weird*)...let's see now, I have to wait and see if any other thoughts pop into my head......nope! it's MTNOW. :-D
I guess it's time to click 'send'.
Y'all have a GREAT one!
~julie~
LOL I pity the poor soul who can read my mind, better if I keep most of my thoughts to myself. I suspect the cats of mind reading because if I'm in a bad mood, which means cleaning like a dervish, they stay well out of my way. Or maybe that's the vacuum cleaner....and I'm giving myself too much credit.
Wanna hear a weird one? When I learned to type in high school, I got into a mind set that led me to rearranging the letters in a sentence that would allow me to use alternate hands. Dooodooodooodooodooodoo! LOL The first sentence in this paragraph would come out like this: aWanahe ra widor ne ....or something like that. ( I didn't say it made sense!) Warning. Don't do it.. it's addictive.
That quilt is truly gorgeous, what an achievement! I've never tried to quilt, although I have made a few lumpy scarves and hats, knitting and crocheting...I started a hooked rug in ....ummmm...the late seventies, and hauled it around for 25 years unfinished until I finally realized I was never going to do it. I did finish the little 12 X 16 one that came with the kit, which is a nice catmat for the window sitters.
Another odd quirk in my nature is I sort of like to iron, but I hate laundry. Also, why do they call them automatic dishwashers and washing machines and dryers? They don't go get the dishes and the laundry, and I never saw one fold clothes. They should call them kind-of-automatic, doncha think?
Isn't Darius' garden pretty? Makes you want to go sit there in the shade, and sip something cool. She is a talented woman, for sure.
Looks like we had two winners of Brugs here, Butter queen, and mg? I don't think brugs would survive in Wisconsin, but they are sure pretty.
Did our western Wisconsin residents get frost last night? It's pretty chilly here today........
I might have to edit this for the names of the brug winners, my short term memory being what it is......check in with you later if I was right. (I wasn't, had to fix it.... but first I had to hunt down the thread cuz I didn't watch it.) I did watch Survivor though.
Why isn't anyone making breakfast in this house? Maybe because there is only one egg and no milk for cereal? LOL Short term memory loss isn't always a bad thing................snort!!

Just got this in my e-mail.....this is one of Maxine's sayings.......
Dear Lord,
I pray for:
Wisdom, To understand a man.
Love, To forgive him and:
Patience, For his moods.
Because, Lord, if I pray for Strenght, I'll just beat him to a pulp....
I know that feeling.....
LOL Maxine is my idol!!
Love it Hap that is a good one!

Good morning,
Good start to our holiday weekend. Sunny today. Must make the best of it as I don't htink it will last. Also doing laundry, but left it for DH to hang out as I went to funeral - a woman who was for many years the general manager of the Ottawa Symphony and a great arts supporter in this city - dead at 66 from a rare disease. Much too early to go, especially for someone who really contributed to the community. Much music at the service and they sent her out with the spirited Entrance of the Queen of Sheeba. (Many members of the Ottawa Choral Society, Ottawa Symphony and 13 Strings Orchestra participating.)

DH can't think why I wanted a big ketchen for only two of us - but at least in this one I don't fall over him!!
LOL What is it about men? I have a big kitchen, and where-ever I walk there he is crossing my path. It's uncanny, don't know how he does it, but it always happens. I thought a well designed, larger kitchen would help, but NO!
Now to the garden.

I have a good size kitchen and when my friend, Joanne, comes to dinner she is always one step behind me so that when I spin around, which I do, I bump into her......constantly. Finally, one night I took her by the hand, brought her over to my cookie jar and TOLD her to hang on to it. She wanted to know why. I advised her that then I would know where she was and would not be running into her all the time....... "Just hold it and don't let go, your life depends on it!" LOL
So now before dinner, she just goes over and hugs my cookie jar......Thank The Good Lord........

My bestest friend, daughter-in-law, Betsy Bug, gave me a subscription to this website and this is going to be fun!

Welcome AudreyJo!
Hey, ccnnot believe it's so late in the day and this is my first peek here today! Actually I have a GOOD excuse...
Playa_Cofi (who is Knotimpaired's DH and they live in the Virgin Islands) posted this on a thread I'm also watching... and I got hung up on a wonderful nostalgia walk through popular songs of my teen and young adult years.
If you use the link below and then go to the lower left of the screen, you can select a mini-concert of top 100 selections from the years 1955 to 1982. Simply click on a year. When the popup starts you can minimize it and listen while you continue with other computer tasks.

Welcome to DG AudreyJo! When they said this was a chatty bunch, they weren't kidding. Enjoy.
Ann
That's strange. - Why did it tack my message on like that? Or is it just my computer? I'm seeing a black field all around the message composition window. Am I the only one?
Ann
I see it too! Call for help, post a link to Dave in his forum or Dmail him. I'd do it, but I'm going to go take a nap, lol, I'm pooped out after walking all over the Arboretum with Wanda and Linda.
I'll tell you about our day later.
mg
Welcome, Audrey Jo!
Congrats on the brug winners, that was pretty neat!
darius, great shots on the landscaping there. Very beautiful! Just wish he'd get the lead out and do something for u in the heating dept!!!
julie - ultra cool on the pics being published - that wld make me smile for a week (at least) lol
We got our first frost Wedn. night. The cannas out back are toast but the ones in front of the house just had the tips nipped and will grow for awhile yet.
Update on the 'patriotic' car, school category.... http://davesgarden.com/forums/fp.php?pid=1772081
Funky things happening here on DG.... darius - what are u seeing ?
I've put in a help request to Dave as requested above.
We'll see what he says.
Ann
WHOA!!! What a weird thing...everyone is posting inside Darius' post!!
~julie~
(Chili is ready...I'm going to eat!!)
Yeah, WHAT A MESS!
Yikes, we've been thrown into a black hole!! Welcome Audrey Jo, we don't usually indulge in such dark humor... Have you been informed about the traveling 2X4? you might want to read back a couple of threads to see what we've been up to and see who all is here regularly, The cyber goodies we put on the counter are calorie free, there's no charge for psychotherapy, all of us are wrinkle free and slender (lying is permitted) and we enjoy sharing our daily lives. What a nice DIL you have!
Hey, Julie, do we need more chairs?
Well, guess everyone wants to play at ur house, darius! lol
oh this is strange! Welcome to DG AudreyJo! I hope you love it here as much as I do.
Rachel
Dave must have sorted you out girls and boy - it all looks normal now
M5 - you need to tell ME what the traveling 2x4 is about - and I've been here a while - I lost it somewhere (no jokes now!) - heck I'm doing good to keep even half way up!
Marcia
Thank you, thank you Playa_Cofi and darius. What a blast!
The traveling 2X4 goes to the lucky lady with the no-brainer DH of the moment. It is always sent by request, of course! LOL Balvenie has such a wonderful DW, he'll never need it!
Okay, I "fess up" because it seems I caused the problem (and Terry fixed it!). Turns out because I put a hyperlink after the "close quote" without a space, it caused havoc. So sorry, folks!
i feel like i've stumbled into the Twilight Zone. i don't even remember how i got to this thread. where am i? somebody helllllllllpppppppppppppppp p p p p.....
welcome Audrey jo you will love it here
hard to always stay on top of the goings on but worth it!
Welcome to DG this is a wonderful family as I have found
Anne

With all the ensuing chaos, don;t forget to look at the link in my post of Oct 8, 2005
4:53 PM... well, IF you like the music of the 50's, 60's etc.
Oh I do darius i follow the submarine thread waiting for more of the story!!!
LOL
Anne
I don't see anything wrong with the screens........I do see a dog tho.....LOL
Nite Gracie...
Hey, Darius, I LOVE your place you're living now. Kind of bring back memories when I worked for the Forest Service on some of the places I lived and worked around in the forest, water, and vegetation. I can understand the lonliness at times but it is so beautiful there!
Welcome, Audrey, good to have another GOB on board.
Have been very busy today. Got up and put my trade list of dahlias here on DG done this morning. Went to a garden club potting party. Boy, I could have had anything I wanted to from this lady's 1 acre garden. She is going to bulldoze it down to build a home for her daughter so we were getting plants for the 2006 spring plant sale for the garden club. Plus we could take home anything!!!
I was overwhelmed so I didn't bring much home. I did get some Japanese iris, black (and I guess they are really black color) Sib. iris, a peony-double pink, purple liatris, and a pink hellebore. I may still go back there and get more, hehe.
Went to pick up my son's senior pictures. Boy, did they turn out nice. Were taken a couple weeks ago on a nice, sunny, crisp fall day outside. If I get one scanned, will post here.
Then came home to work in the yard and ended up chatting with my son about the senior pictures, life, etc. Worked outside until it started to rain. Darn, had more things to get done.
Oh, well, came inside and cooked a frozen pizza with homegrown tomatoes on it. Have a piece if you want. Plus I had made some choc. nutty buddy bars last nite so have some of those too.
Well, back to figuring out my dahlia trade list.
Later, Carol
Well as always, you have chatted more than enough today. I guess some bad weather put you in front of the computer. I enjoyed reading about the kitchens, the appliances, and the problems encountered today with Darius' post. Surprised that I haven't done something like that also.
Happy, I didn't mean that the animals would tell everything that went on in the house, just be able to talk to their owners. Lord No, wouldn't want some conversations repeated at all! I would want my Bruno to talk to me and tell me what it is he thinks!! Me controlled by a dog, ALL THE TIME!!
Welcome Audrey Jo, say you are BB sister, well we will excuse that, come on in and just tell us what's on your mind. Goodies are always calorie free and we never run out.
Meezer, who does any lying on this thread. Mine is the truth, and unvarnished at that!!
Happy the e-mail was great, on days DH is a problem it is a good thing that I don't have strength.
Oh, Audrey Jo, I have the official 2x4, anytime you want to use it, just say so, and I express mail it to you. You do have to return it though. There for awhile Sarv and I were passing it back and forth several times a day!! I have tried for 40 years to train DH, but all of it hasn't stuck!!
Well, my dog is dancing beside me as I type, this means he is ready to go to bed.
So say Goodnight Gracie.
