Hello again. Well, phooey, Sarv, an ebay virus! I went there and didn't get it, so I wonder if yours came from somewhere else, or if my virus catcher thingy works better than yours did. As I understood it, the virus thing that we get from our server is just for email, but we also have Norton and Zone Alarm. The ZA seems just to be a pain in the neck when it wants to know if I want to allow Microsoft to update my tool bars, etc, all the time but maybe it caught the bug for me. Anyhow, I hope you get rid of the ugly thing.
Ummm, the pie sounds good. I'd be glad to help eat what is left. Just bring it to the counter. My grapes are 2 different kinds, one is red and the other one green, both seedless, and I have a young Concord that hasn't produced any fruit yet. It is a replacement for one that died, hopefully it will be old enough next year.
Happy belated birthday Hap, sorry I missed it. I do remember reading something yesterday and was gonna say it then but I think my mind was elsewhere by the time I was typing anything. It does tend to wander a lot. I keep bringing it back and it goes off again. The saying "Of all the things I've lost I miss my mind the most" certainly applies to me.
Today we have some light showers. Boy do we need that! I'm watching the fire in Calif (up to 25,000 acres now) and the tv anchor said they hadn't had more than 1/4 inch of rain since July. We haven't either. I hope this is a long, slow soaker. My neighbor said we got about 1/20 of an inch so it isn't a whole lot, but if it continues over the next few days as the forecasters say, we might get enough to help something. At least I think we can burn the paper trash soon, we've been saving it in plastic bags in the shop for weeks now.
This morning I was IM chatting with my friend from south Louisiana. They were between both hurricanes but it did get awfully stormy, especially being on the wet (east) side of the second one. The house creaked and groaned something terrible during the last one. She said their house is settling badly, water got into the walls and is now getting so moldy and bad smelling that they aren't able to sleep in their bedrooms so they are sleeping in their camp trailer. There are gaps opening up under windowsills, etc. She says she gets a headache just being in the room. Originally they thought they had no house damage, but sometimes things just aren't evident right away. The brick siding on the house was very dark like they were wet for several days after the storm and even the neighbors noticed it. I'm guessing that the builder didn't use a sealer on the bricks, one of those shortcuts to save money that won't ever show. Yeah, right. They're waiting for the insurance agent to come and look at it but that could be a while since those guys are pretty busy about now.
Back to snapping beans. I hadn't planned to be canning beans today but it they need to be taken care of. I have a large paper grocery bag full of them and more to pick. Hap, you could come and help if you need something to do........
Count your blessings!
Coffee and...Part 34...! :-D
Sure, I'm on my way.....in fact, I'm surprised you didn't notice that I'm almost done......lol
M_G, thanks for the hyperlink, will ask my DR. about it and hope I will get a prescription for it. Can't imagine the mess you had to clean up, awful!
Good for you, Darius, glad you got this break, you need it.
And once agian, Hap, gelated happy Birthday, I know you had a good one.
Went to the mall today, bought a few clothes for the cold weather, we had 36' this morning, prrrr, too soon for that!
Maria
Guess Robert was right, we'd each pick our own ailments if we threw them all in a heap and got to pick new ones. Took me a while to catch up too....good luck with the weekend Dcat, you can't shut this bunch up. just make sure you have a good amount of time to catch up on Monday.
Last golf for this season today. I have to face the fact that I'm not ever getting any better at it. Glad we're done for the year. It's a nice group though, so I'll keep flailing away, despite embarassing myself.
So glad you can get your meds Darius. If I had to pay for mine, we'd have to give up something major, they are all expensive.
I agree about the dog owners being the problem, not only with Rotties but pit bulls, and several other breeds. They are smart dogs and will easily learn to be protective of property, or to attack, and on the other hand, can also be loving and friendly. It's the owner not the dog.
OH mg!! What a mess!! What a horrific clean up. You'd think dogs would know better, or at least learn from the experience. Too bad we are the ones who learn the lesson! My first seal point siamese, once licked the entire top off a pumpkin pie, but didn't suffer any ill effects. He just ate off the top layer, and had a very satisfied expression unlike the rest of us who were deprived of pie.
Oh ugh, chaperoning kids on a trip to the zoo....I'd rather stick needles in my eyes.....!! I mostly like them from a distance, unless they are related and then I'm only good for about an hour before I get sick of the little dears. I like babies and teenagers but not much of the in between! Bad Granny """slap"""
I love freecell....play it on Pogo and also on Windows. Haven't had any virus problems for a long while, knock on wood. Roadrunner does some pretty sophisticated filtering, and we also run spyware fairly often. DH is on Ebay a lot, what with buying and selling car parts etc., and he's never had a problem either. We have popup stopper too which eliminates some of the annoying ads.
Dinner is late. Lazy cook. No idea what to make either. Maybe I'll see if they'll deliver a pizza out here in the boonies. See y'all tomorrow.
Late dinner for me, too, M5. But it's in the oven... scallopped potatoes with pork chops and cheddar cheese. Haven't made that in ages, hope it turns out edible, LOL.
Also have simmered the smoked hocks for the half-runner beans, and a pot of lamb stew meat in the crock pot for a later lamb stew.
Fall must re-set the "cooking clock"... : )
M5.....
I totally agree about the rug rats....I raised my kids and I feel done. Sometime I feel guilty about not feeling quilty living 1500 miles away from the grandkids. But I can't see myself babysitting several times a week and/or weekends for the little dears. I served my sentence. But it's funny, I didn't feel that way when I was raising my own, and they were "the more active bunch" of the neighborhood and I loved them dearly......My oldest son, now 44 with a 10 yo boy, swears that he wasn't as bad as his son. Boy, what a short memory that kid has......I asked the Dr. one time either to put him on Valium or give me some.....Neither of us got it, dang.....
It's rough loving freecell AND keeping up with Dave's....believe you me!!!!
Have a wonderful even GOBs. check with ya in the am.
Nite Gracie.
Hi everyone,
Just a short note tonight as I have to get up at 5 or so to get set up for a craft show tomorrow.
Thanks for your concern, Carol (dr). No, the tree didn't burn down. The electric company people showed up and solved the problem by cutting down a few chunks of tree. We were really lucky that it had rained quite a bit during the last few days, otherwise the thing probably would have gone up like a torch and my mother wasn't aware that anything was happening out front.
Oops! Sorry I missed your birthday, Hap. Glad to hear it was a good one.
It's nice to hear GOOD news from you for a change, Darius!
Sympathy and good wishes to everyone else who's under the weather.
There's just too much else to try to respond to everyone and everything. Uncle! I give up (for now anyway)
Good night, Gracie, George, and the whole lot!
George: "Say Goodnight, Gracie."
Gracie: "Goodnight Gracie."
hitting the hay early tonight, darius? great news on the free meds. I pick up all MIL's anti-psychotic from her doc. They're $5. each otherwise. I think she's paid for them just twice in about 8 or 9 years. Awfully dear!! And I know some are much worse.
Ran around town after work and got the Twisted Round Robin mailed out and a care box to one of our hurricane victims. Gotta get a money order in the am and get that sent out to a hurricane victim too. Sure wish I could do more...
Ready to head out the door tmr - taking my pillow so I can take a nap on the bus - we're taking coaches, it's a 2.5 hr drive. I think there's about 100 to 110 kids in band. Chaperones have to serve one meal and the rest they're on their own - buy at concessions or walk to local eateries. Not sure where the H.S. is in Algona, IA - guess I'll know it very well by this time tmr. snicker This is still a lot easier than elementary kids at a zoo - gosh, that was a mean trick - LOL
I sure could have used that 2x4 the other day. I was taking pictures of the lawn tractor that DH wanted me to list on ebay and DS was working on his jeep. DH was on the roof (of the office part) of the shop, checking out the leaky cupola. It was windy and suddenly, the alum ladder started sliding and blew down and landed right on DS's Harley. First thing Dh did was run to the edge of the roof and yell at me, why didn t u catch it???? Hello???? I was only about 8 to 10 feet away on the other side of the tractor!!!!! And I was supposed to be looking up, seeing the ladder start sliding, jumping over the tractor and flying 8 feet to catch it 5 feet from the ground?????? I was furious and rather incredulous at the same time. Just what does he think I am? A kangaroo with 8 ft arms?? After I pointed out the impossibility of an overweight almost GOB flying, he still said it was my fault cuz the only reason he went to check on the cupola was because he was killing time waiting all afternoon for me to come and take those pictures. Like I needed him to stand there and watch me take the pictures? or perhaps he had to hold the camera for me? sheesh! I gave him an extremely sarcastic 'ya! right!' and decided to exit the premise with my head held high - but I would have traded just about anything for that 2x4 right then. But I got in the van and left with dignity, didn t even slam the van door or floor the van - now that wld have been cool, there's sand/gravel past the cement, he'd have loved gravel flying backwards at a high rate of speed with him in the crossfire, wldn t he??? evil laugh!!!!
sarv - gotta admit, again, lol, what were u thinking??? that poor tummy of urs - it has my utmost sympathy, again!!
Last post for the night, I hope, lol.
Happy~Freecell? Why didn't you say so, lol. I play it way too much as it is. Altho lately I've become seriously hooked on Sudoku. I like the logic involved.
Mary~How did the crew do with the farrier? The mold those folks are facing is just so scary. I just do not see how most of those houses can be rebuilt. Snap beans huh? I ducked out of that "duty" with MIL. I get stuck with everything else dang it, she has 3 other DILs she can call!
Aria~I really hope Ultram can help you. I don't know what I would do without it.
M5~I'll admit I did panic a bit when I found the first mess, until I realized the red was from tomatoes. She has been fine today and had some hamburg/rice for dinner. We had TV dinners from the microwave. How messed up is that?
Darius~I agree Fall changes the way we cook. With summer, we all want light, cool and quick. Fall brings on hot and hearty. Time to pack in the carbs.
McCool~That tree fire would have scared me badly. Did they ever find out why it was arcing in the first place, or was it all due to the branches?
Bal~Wonderful pictures! Did you take them? I have always loved a bubbling mountain stream and a waterfall. In fact, my sketches of my next tatoo have a waterfall with a rainbow as a major part. Must be the Aquarius in me, lol.
Kooger~Pillow and headphones so you don't have to listen to the chatter. A book on tape is good if you have one. I agree, you need the 2x4. What does he think you are, superwoman? Clearest case of testosterone poisoning I've seen in a while. Maybe Babs has the cure? Dignity is good, an absolute scathing cut is better, lol. Did the Harley get damaged? Are you talking to him yet?
When you are done with the 2x4, send it this way. DH left a half of a mountain dew beside the couch last night. Today I found ANTS! Arrrrgh!
Night John Boy!
mg
Yes, I'm talking to him, I've never had the capability to stay mad for more than a few hours. Ticks me off sometimes cuz he really deserves a big mad and I just can t hold it. I know it's the reason we've been married almost 29 years so it's a good thing not a bad thing - but boy he sure deserves a lot longer mad!!
The gas tank got a long scrape on it - and it has those grey flames on a black tank - 'bout a $500. tank! The marks all buffed out except one about 1" long. That was amazing to me! It started out about 6-7" long and 2" wide. And the speedometer has a very noticeable (sp?)(brain is sleeping already) dent in the top. DH priced one and it's $259.00 - isn't that awful? just cuz it has the HD on it!!! So that will get replaced, not the tank, tho.
ANTS!!! yuck - had a battle with them a month ago but they're all gone now.
"Truste!"
Am tired, all I want to say is , good night, dear friends but do want to add I love your pictures, Robert, one of these days I hope to see some of the NW, have seen most every other states!
And Kooger I would pick up a 2x4 and help you, LOL
What did Jimmy Durand say? What was her name? Goodnight, Mrs.........?
Maria
"...Calabash, where ever you are."
Aha! First one up gets the donuts! Wait, there aren't any donuts...you'll have to eat up what' s left of the biscotti. Love these cool nights, I'm sleeping like a well fed cat.
I have nothing left to harvest, beans are long gone, all the big tomatoes are done for and the one remaining bearing fruit is the mini pears and they are at the end. No frost yet, but it will happen soon.
Our septic "alarm" was clanging when I got home yesterday. We're due for pumping this year but not 'til December. Of course it has to happen on a weekend. I don't know how much of an early warning system it is, but I'm in the "if it's yellow, let it mellow" frame of mind. DH said he wasn't worried about it...I said, "If poo starts backing up in the bathtub, you will be". I know absolutely nothing about how a mound system works, I know I won't be doing any laundry!
Kooger, why couldn't you catch that ladder? Or at the very least thrown your body over the Harley to protect it? Where are your priorities, woman? Who had the 2X4 last? Ship it to Iowa!!
I think there will be a lot of homes in the Katrina aftermath suffering from mold and uninhabitable....watch the insurance companies weasel out of coverage for mold and try to say that it's not flood damage. And they still have to pay their mortgages, although I heard that some lenders are being cooperative about late payments, and waiving penalties.
Now I know what's missing from my array of prescription drugs, antipsychotics!
Oh good, coffee's done. That %#%$ coffee maker gets all huffy if you try to start it earlier when the auto timer is already set. It just sits and blinks and won't make coffee. At times I have actually unplugged it and waited for it to read 12:00, 12:00 12:00 so I could start it brewing. We are at the mercy of our appliances.
Morning gob's, 2 x 4 is on its way to Iowa........don't even know why I bother with it, hard headed and all !! I hope this thread isn't too long tonight when I get home for work, good thing I don't cook on Sat. nights....more time to read. What am I saying.........I already made a chicken cassarole (sp) to take to market and share with others today.
Aria, Sarv and others with sore arms I know what you are going thru and hope you can find relief. Bal, beautiful pictures.
DH just installed one of the front loading washers to help save on water but the thing takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to wash a load. Is kinda entertaining to watch it go round and round and round.
!!! I better get off this puter, open the greenhouse and load the car time is a wasting! Everyone have a great day, it looks like a beauty here.
Joy
Man, talk about gabby GOBER's!!!
Good news...I fixed my computer!! I don't know what I did - just clicked buttons and restarted a zillion times and walaa - it now works. I do not have any spyware etc on my computer except what comes with my email program. I know - shame on me, but I can't figure out how to do it. I went where 'someone' here suggested and tried to download it, but I have a MAC and folks, they just ain't like the other computers. Hey Darius, could you tell me what I should be downloading for more protection? please, and remember I have a OX9 (antique...)
I forgot who asked about the 'grape skins', but you NEED to add them back in - otherwise you would just have a jelly like pie- the skins make it like a blueberry like pie. I just tossed the rest of mine out -ended up having a total of 4 pieces and thought that was plenty...
Oh, I would give that dog a boot outside!!! Yuck, cleaning up upchucked tomatoes - no thank you!! Our cat used to leave us presents, but since she is spending so much time outside, she must make her deposits (hairballs) there. All I have to pick up now is the tons of burrs she drags back inside. Nothing worse than getting up in the night and stepping in a big pile of 'mess'
Well, DH left last night and I am going to be alone for three days. I am not looking forward to it - even tho he bugs the daylight outta me, I do like having him around. But DS, new DIL, and their son called and asked if they could bring dinner over- YES!!! They wanted me to babysit while they went shopping- which was fine. DGS is such a sweetheart. We played mancalla for hours (marble game) Kids showed up with dinner and my long awaited birthday gift!! TWO gorilla racks for my indoor gardening mess this winter. I never thought I'd get two, but hooray, I'll take them.
With DH gone, I decided to sleep in his king size bed and would you believe it, my sore arm feels better. Now it couldn't be a mattress problem could it?? I'm sleeping there tonight just to test it out again. Dang, I may end up having to sleep with him again after all these years!!
Good news on the free med Darius. My MIL has to pay outta pocket for hers, Wish she could get some free. She has lived on nothing for years raising 9 kids and still managed to accumulate a little nest egg and I hate to see her using it all on meds. Guess there is a messge there= spend your money while you are able!! LOL
Gonna be a beautiful weekend here- in the 80's. I still have 4 huge perennials to get in the ground- today is the day I hope.
take care all!!
M5,
What??? are you doing up so early? And you are on central time zone. I was up at 6, drank a cup of yesterdays coffee waiting for todays to brew. Since Katrina rolled by here, I haven't even set the auto on the Mr Coffee. Been too lazy to set the thing up the night before anyway.
Got my business books up to date this morning and trying to catch up on my reading here.
We are working ALL weekend to make some progress on this job before we leave it for a week. We leave Tuesday to go to the property. Man that is some hard work. My feet have been cramping all day and it will be worse today. Got 12 gallons of paint to roll on the exterior walls.
We started yesterday at 7:30 to beat the heat, still didn't quit til 2:40. Called the paint store to get my paint ready, went to HD for the primer and still the kid at the paint store hadn't even started mixing my order. I don't think he likes me. A while back I commented to his boss he shouldn't be wearing a music headset while driving a forklift around the warehouse. The day I said that, the kid was backing up, someone was shouting to stop and he couldn't hear them.
Anyway, got home with a flat tire, had to run back out to get that fixed (2 screws from the construction site) and came home to tend to 16 tomato plants I received in the mail.
Sat down here to catch up on my dmails and threads. When I got up to go get a beer, I could hardly move. My limbs had seized. This getting old stuff is for the birds. I feel like my oldest dog. She has trouble getting up too.
Well, the sun is showing a little light. I better get off to work before it gets too hot again.
Yall have a great day off!!!
Molly
:^)))
Molly, I'm always up at least by 5:30, internal dang clock wakes me, but last night I crashed earlier than usual so I woke up at 4:30, laid there for a half hour thinking I'd doze off but it didn't happen so I got up. I always set up my coffee maker the night before.....I've even gotten up in the middle of the night to set it when I've forgotten after dinner. My yesterday's coffee has been on the burner for three hours and yuuuuuuuck, don't want it. What are you reading? I've got an overstock of pbs, I'll dmail you a list. Like you have a lot of time to read now.
Stretching before bedtime helps with leg and foot cramps....I'm sure it's the ladder climbing that does your feet in....
If we all keep gabbing...I'll never get out in the garden....suppose to be nice today.. It's 79 now....(smile)
Kooger, you should know better than to let anything happen to a bike and a hog no less!!! I was a biker chick many years and even had my own bike. It was 35 years ago and I can tell ya I was the only chick that had her own. I paved, no pun intended, the way for the new generation. lol I loved it and everytime I hear a bike now and it all year in FL, I want to hop on again. Well, maybe it's not too late. My DD said she would have me committed if I got another. Oh well.......
My grandmother told me about 60 years ago that if my grandfather was in the cellar and hit his thumb with a hammer, that he would come up and blame her. So, I guess the breed has not changed....they never accept responsibility for anything. What a nice way to live....have to try it sometime...lol
Also, do you really think that you are going to nap on a bus with 100 bandmembers? Gotta hear how that works..ROTFL...
MG....can not do another game. I tried that new thingy and it really didn't interest me. Another addiction and I would never be able to keep up with DG....
Sarv....It sure can be the mattress. I was having problems sleeping too...everything hurt and would wake me up. My DD told me about that new foam that they make mattress' of....space age stuff.(about $2000).........well Sams, Costco, etc have a topper about 2" thick for about 120 bucks. What a deal...........and it works. With them you can try it for a few nights and if it doesn't work you can take it back, but I can almost guarentee that you won't. I love mine.
Molly, you take care...don't try and kill yourself all in one day........spread it out......
See yall later, GOBsss
Hap
Good morning. The wind woke me up at 4:30 and since I couldn't go back to sleep I got up to finish canning the green beans. Now waiting for the pressure to go down on the cooker which takes longer than the actual processing. I can still hear boiling going on in there and a bit of steam escaping. Later this morning we are hauling firewood for one of my husband's co-workers who has no concept of how long and how many trips it would have taken her to transport a couple of cords of wood in the trunk of her car.
Nice pictures, Robert. Are those Olympic or Cascade Mts? I like the bridge too.
M-g, my horses do just fine with the farrier. They stand there and look like they are going to sleep. I believe that how they are handled has a lot to do with that. One of my older horses came to me with problems about having his feet handled, and after getting shod a few times was ok with it. When this farrier retires in a few years I hope to find another like him. I've told him I hope he trains somebody real well before then. Maybe he would keep shoeing for a few customers....... I haven't asked him about that posibility.
Molly, maybe you need more electrolites to help with the muscle cramping? I know working on a ladder isn't a normal kind of thing either, so stress and strain probably aggrivate it. A high antioxident vitamin formula would also help. The kid at the paint store sounds like an accident waiting for a place to happen. And not too concerned about you getting what you need in a timely manner. Maybe he just figures it all pays the same.......... but if he keeps on this way it might not pay at all. Probably he hasn't considered that. I've often wondered about those drivers that have the music blasting so loud in their cars that they couldn't hear an emergency vehicle right behind them. Not safe in my not so humble opinion. Drivers need to be aware of what is going on around them and that includes being able to hear horns, etc.
Sarv, I think you're on to something with the mattress change. It could be difficult to decide if a snoring husband was worth trading for a comfortable arm.
Joyous, what brand of washer did you get? My next one will be a front loader but that one sounds too slow. They do save on hot water and soap. We had one when we lived in Alaska, a White/Westinghouse brand. 25+ years ago they were the only ones that made them for household use. I've looked at the ones at Sears but not seriously since the top loader still works. Cross that bridge when I get to it.....
Time to get the ole bod moving. Have a great day and count your blessings.
Joyous....
I have a front loader and I love it. My mother loved her Bendix, 55 years ago when they first came out. I had a Speed Queen 45 years ago and it was great. My Whirlpool now is a gem; no more off-sided loads. That alone is a pleasure. Yes, they do take longer, but the top loaders do not afford entertainment.........Plus, you don't have to do anything, just let'r rip...... I remember when I got my first washer, I was 19 and obvious did not have too much on my mind, I loved to sit and watch it go around. Oh lordy....how times change.
Hap
WHERE'S JULIE???????
We had a front loader in Germany. It was Army Issue and cheaply made. I wasn't impressed. It was ok for small lightly soiled loads, but for jeans and dh's uniforms I went to the laundrymat once a week.
I woke up this morning with Ambition. I don't remember going to bed with it, but I'm going to take advantage of it while is stays around. I have seeds to collect, and I bought a few mums at the grocery store last night on my run for ant spray. They need to get potted. I know it is dumb to pot them when I'll plant them in the garden in 2 months, but I just don't like those black plastic pots on my front step. I might even take a pic of the front of my house later.....HA, that will motivate me to get it looking good!
Enjoy your day GOBS and Gobettes!
mg
Our Whirlpool top loader is pretty good. Enough information on it so that even I can make it work.
Mary, the mtns. are the Cascades just East of Everett and the stream is at the abandoned Monte Cristo Mine, also in the Cascades. Spent a lot of time in the mountains long ago taking pictures. Must have hundreds of slides and negs gathering dust.
Molly, often just one complaint about an employee isn't enough. Each incident should be reported (imho). Not having your order ready could have had an affect on your job and ability to fulfill a contract. Old coffee, crampy feet, flat tires, but you got the books up to date! Hope today is a perfect success for you.
Sarv, DW bought one of those mattress addition things and says it is great. I upgraded to OS10-Panther and like it. Would like to go to the newest OS, Tiger I think, and iLife 5, but the problems I read about on the Apple Discussions forums scare me. Too many people say they lost photos in the upgrades, and with 1,800 pictures so far, I'd be really p!$@&% if they were messed with. I do think the new version has a lot going for it though. Sure would like to have a king size bed again, and stock it with Shelties to keep my ears warm.
Hap, "don't try to kill yourself all in one day......spread it out" Wow, I love your philosophy. Think I'd like to have a front loader too, a Bobcat of course.lol Is one ever too old to be a Harley affectionato ?
Rain has stopped, yesterdays film is dry, darkroom is set up except for a lack of developer, time to go out and clean the gutters (don't need to when it ain't raining, and cain't do it when it is, syndrome). Everyone play nice and be happy.
Bal.
Affectionato..........dern.......I WANT ONE!!!! DD says 65 is too old to start again.... Haven't driven in 20 years...but ya know what they say about bikes.............LOLOLOL....
It took me 3 times reading your post about the front loader, Bobcat, before I realized that you wanted a FRONT-LOADER-BOBCAT!!!! Too much....
Hap
Gobs & Gobettes,
I'm not usually an alarmist, but I just watched my TIVOed news from last night. There was a quick story about vinyl lunch bags/boxes and it really made me take notice. The station provided a link, and I'll post it here, but I would also like to post it for others to see. Which forum should I post it in, or do you think I should in the first place?
mg
http://www.kwwl.com/Global/link.asp?L=168074
MG, what a disaster for children!
I'd also post it in General Discussion.
Maybe in recipes, too??
Where's Julie......she is asleep at the switch...........who's second in command??????
I am *NOT* asleep at the switch! What the heck do you want, already??? LOL
I've been outside enjoying the DAY! It's sunny in the mid to upper 70's and I've gotten a lot of stuff done. (See what happens when you *don't* tune in to the Klatch?? :-D) I got more of my annuals pulled out and weeded several beds...made plans and contemplated new planting ideas.
I skimmed through the "Skip to New" posts...and had to LOL at Mary's comment about whether it would worth replacing a sore arm with a snoring DH. NOT in MY opinion. But then my DH doesn't like the idea of me moving to the spare bedroom so I *have* to put up with BOTH a sore arm ('tennis elbow' from pulling weeds) AND a husband who rocks mountains with his snoring. :-( )
Now...if the thread is taking for long for Hap to load...maybe it's time to start another new one???
LOL
~julie~
Hap! Why haven't you answered me yet???
:-)
~julie~
I did, I did...you missed the post...
Back from shopping - for 5 hrs - oh the poor old tootsies!! It was a glorious day in Mich - warm enough to keep the summer clothes on for one more day!!
Went back to the furniture store and looked again at the chest I am in love with. Sales clerk today was an older gal (but younger than me) and her first name was the same as mine (good karma I thought) She was a good one -showed me the knobs etc and I asked about the 6% off and she said she would ask the manager. She came back with a no,but at least she asked!! Said she would sell it to me and if it went on sale in 30 days, they would refund the extra $$. She assured me it would...I told her I was in no hurry and would wait - then asked if she would take my name and number and call me when it went on sale. She did (but I have the sneaky feeling it went in the trash...) Left with a better feeling, but can't imagine they wouldn't come down a lousey 6%.
Bought a set of dishes for 8 - I really wanted a set for 12 tho. I wanted plain white - they are plain, but not a shocking white, more of a mellow white. I wish I could buy the plates seperately, but ya gotta buy the whole kit and kabootle. I got it at Bed Bath Beyond place and as soon as I get another coupon, I will go back and get another set. I have the white pfaltzgraff stuff and it is so old I see it in antique stores!! Also bought myself a veggie tray and I've been admiring (got one for new DIL for one of her showers and it was beautiful when she used it)
Went to lunch at Steak n Shake - gave the waitress a coupon that was outdated (how embarassing!!) She was nice and went and asked the manager if they would honor it. I forgot it was Oct already!! LOL They wouldn't, but that was ok - food was delish~~ahh a big plate of fries....yum
All in all a very nice day. Now I have the evening to myself - gonna get my jammies on and curl up in the chair and read. I'm not even hungry, so may forgo dinner even. But I will have an ice cream treat!!
Took cuttings of 9 different coleus - glad I got that done before it turns bitter cold out. Just have a few more things to take cuttings - maybe tomorrow.
Bal- do you have an apple computer too?? Please let it be so.....
Hey Sarv! Sounds like you had great day!
