LOL... and we also have "gobettes"... under 50... and one Glorius Old "Boy" in Balvenie who joins us regularly and both bakes and does carpentry!
Coffee and...Part 34...! :-D
I'm a Gobette. Hey, what is the cut off age? I THINK I'm a Gobette, rofl. Maybe I'm a Glorious Other Broad? Overweight?
Babs, you wouldn't believe some of the acronyms I came up with untill I was set straight(er), lol.
mg
Edited cuz I can't speel!
This message was edited Sep 29, 2005 12:42 PM
We loosely define cut-off age as 50... over that is GOB, under is GOB wannabe, Gobette, LOL. Weight has nothing to do with it... don't even go there!
Woohoo!!! Well, ladies and the one gent, count me in as a GOB. I love it, I love the term and I'm enjoying being there in my life. I earned every grey hair on my head and every wrinkle in my face. I don't mind a bit. Oh, I'd love to be able to bend over a bit more easily than I do now and not have all the aches and pains, but you know, I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be in my life and I'd not change a day of it. Even the bad ones, I think I've learned from most of them and I'm looking forward to several more lessons in my life.
Oh, and just FYI, I'm older than the Master Chief, he's still a gobette. I robbed the cradle because I read that statistically, women outlive men by an average of 7 years. So, I'm 4 years older than the hubby, so I figure we'll split the difference and croak together!
Now, I'd best be thinking about getting ready for work sometime soon. But I have to tell you, gobs and gobettes, I'm loving this DavesGarden website. It's an amazing place and I've learned a TON from other gardeners and such. I've been reading posts and looking at pictures posted and I'm just happy as a wee wooley-pillar in a cocoon here.
Babs - scone question:
Can I use oleo instead of unsalted butter
Can you use reg flour in place of cake/bread flour
I don't want to make a trip to the store and these sound heavenly!!
Let me know asap.
Grape pie is in the oven as I type...tell ya how it was tonight after we sample it.
DH just found a huge box of canning jars in the third floor of the barn - access only with a ladder- yahoo. I'm gonna make more grape juice tomorrow.
sarv, I have lots of spare canning jars I can run right over to you - ooops - I keep forgetting you are Caledonia, MI, not Caledonia, MS ( which is only 30 miles from me! ) I was going to trade ya a bunch of empties for a full!
ginni
WHAT - another Caledonia?? How funny. This Caledonia was a farming community, but suburbia is slowly creeping out to us. Major highway put a connector about 2 miles from us, so I expect a huge growth in the 'fast food' type of places along with motels and strip malls. The price of progress.
Sounds about the same. My Caledonia is smack between a medium sized / "wanna be big" town, and a large Air Force base. Sadly, the farming people are losing the war. I'm just glad I live far enough out in the "boonies" that I won't ever have to worry about being crowded.
Apparently Babs was sent to us so that we wouldn't lose our tremendous will power and go on diets......... Had a yummy lunch, big juicy cheeseburger with fried onions, lettuce and tomato, french fries...did someone say have a calorie or two thousand? Scones sound delicious. And that puppy is a scream!!! Upside down and unconscious! Not to mention sleeping on the furniture. O, what a life! And Babs, I've got 16 years on my DH, and we still bicker about who gets to die first. It works well since he was born old, and I've not matured yet. And you got put on the speaker phone? That alone would have guaranteed I wouldn't be dragging that corpse out from under! Your life sounds like my DS's, her DH was a navy guy and then went into the state dept., and they spent many years in foreign cities, Formosa, Germany, England, Thailand, etc. She held down the fort for the most part too as he did a lot of traveling, and they had five kids. (Must have gotten home occasionally...)
If you want to read some of our previous episodes, you can track back in Parking Lot, we're now on #34, so you can just look for Coffee and....and pick a number! It's kind of like a soap opera where the writers lose track of the plot. LOL
Gotta stick my head in the freezer and see what's for dinner. Even though I'm not hungry. Maybe soup and sandwiches. But first, I have a book to finish.
Would have been a good day to work outside but I got sidetracked with idle pleasures, so I had a me day too.
Good afternoon!
I've been over the mountain to grocery shop. Just browned some lamb for a stew, and I got some smoked hocks to cook up with a mess of half-runners which I will can. Will also can the leftover spaghetti sauce made with Italian sausage, and can some of the lamb stew.
The next 2 days will be busy! But at least with canning, I don't have to worry about spoilage if there's some extended power outage. I know frozen (esp. the beans) would be crisper. Sigh.
WoW!!! What a 'trip' you guys have laid on me today! 44 posts and this thread *just* started!! I've said it before and I'll say it again...maybe it's time for a DAILY GOB SESSION!!! :-D
Babs...I love all your stories and, trust me, you definitely did *not* do anything wrong posting it in here. (BTW...it's easy to put hyperlinks in posts here. All you have to do is copy the URL from the page you want people to go to, then paste it in your new post/reply. Dave has it fixed so that we see a 'shorthand' of the original link. If you want to test it out before you actually send it, all you have to do is click on PREVIEW...then you can test the link from that screen (Don't worry. You'll get a new window when you test))
HI *EVERYONE!* Babysat this morning...remember the DS whose wife left him back in Feb? Well the divorce was final as of two weeks ago tomorrow. And guess what??? They're getting back together!! Oh well...I guess there's no way to figure out what they're thinking. LOL All I know for sure is my DGD is one happy little two year old. (And I'll only have to babysit *occasionally*! HORRAY!!!)
Well....I've had this reply on the screen for several hours how...I better click the send button now. :-D
~julie~
Several hours Julie, and I thought my typing was slow!! LOL Just for balance, I must report that I had a healthy liquid lunch, one of those blender creations with a couple of overripe bananas, a handfull of blueberries, about a pint of milk and a tablespoon or so of honey. WHIZZZZ! and there was lunch. We must have balance you know, otherwise we would just tumble out of control like a ball with one heavy side.
Babs, you could go all the way back to the first Coffee and...... thread, but it would take a week nonstop to read it all. We started this mindless rambling about the first of the year. Sometimes tho, we do get serious, but quickly recover. I had to laugh about the catch of the day under your house, and your phone call which your DH thought was just too good not to share it will all within hearing. My husband would probably have done the same if he had a speaker phone available at work, which thankfully he doesn't since he works in the District Attorney's office.
I've been digging potatoes, pulling and cleaning carrots and now I'm off to pick whatever green beans are still ok. Doing clean up harvesting is kind of sad, but also has it's surprises like carrots with one top and 4 or 5 large legs. As I was bringing the loaded wheelbarrow up the hill to the house a while ago I was thinking that most of it started with a few packets of seeds, a bag full of seed potatoes and a lot of homemade fertilizer, compliments of my horses who just keep making the stuff. A hard frost is forecast for the weekend so the garden will all be history then and time to run the rototiller. The remaining grapes can be harvested after frost since I am just going to make juice. But first, there is plenty to salvage out there that won't do well in a hard frost. I think I will cover up the squash patch with old blankets and also the tomatoes. My garden feeds us something every day of the year, sometimes just the tomatoes in soup or a glass of juice, but it all helps save some money. Back at it, see ya later.
Mary, the grape pie is outta this world- you should try one with your extra grapes!! I too need to can the rest of mine tomorrow. I already have 14 qts, but have enough for another 14. My work is cut out for me.
I checked on that 'm' steamer on ebay and got something nasty on my computer. So I doubt if I will look at it again- I think that was a sign that it wasn't meant to be. Now I just have to figure out how to get rid of whatever I got. grrr
DH is still out in the barn working on putting some extra big air shocks on the truck for their camping tomorrow. He is frazzled as things are not going good. Thank goodness DS came over. He just stands there, but it is moral support for DH. Then I can come in the house and watch TV and read. LOL
I'm back on the relefan for my sore arm and clicky fingers. I am not sure what is worse - sore arm or upset tummy from the meds. Nothing is ever easy is it?
Sure wish we had more chats in the evening....I was gone on Tues and had to leave Thurs am too -
Never heard of a grape pie, Sarv, is it something like any fruit pie?
What is in their other then grapes?
Maria
Evenin' all.....just checking in and catching up. Went to the GI and well - now we get to start the fun stuff! I'm having an EGD (endoscope) on Tuesday (Babs? Are they bad - any after effects?). Then on the 10th I'll have an ultrasound and what they call a HEDA w/EF test - where they put dye through my liver, gallbladder, and all that to see the functioning of it. She said there are too many things it could be to make any kind of diagnosis without further tests - so here we go! I just hope whatever it is it's something easily treatable....or removable - LOL!
So - that's my news. Was kind of down after wards so I went to the yarn shop - BIG mistake.....I'm now to the point of buying yarn without anything in mind - just because it's "purty!".....I'm bad.
Darius - hope you and the cat get back to normal soon (and if you can tell me what's normal - please do!)
Mornin_gayle - does your dog drink too? He looks a bit overhung there on that chair....LOL...get it?????
Everyone have a great night and good day!
Marcia
Ebay is awful for loading your 'puter with adware and spyware. May I suggest running a free online scan in addition to having your own installed on the computer. I have Ad-Aware AND Spybot Search and Destroy, both are free downloads, LMK if you want info. I run the Ad-Aware every day, and the Spybot at least once a week. I run Avast as my Virus protection. I also go to http://www.trendmicro.com/en/home/us/enterprise.htm once or twice a month and run a free online scan.
Now, about this "M" product. Do you know the exact name? If you do, Froogle it. www.froogle.com It let's you compare prices from everywhere. Or you can DMail me and I will research it for you, I have oodles of time. I'm still working of finding Molly housing, lol.
I have my MIL's grape juice recipie, I've never made it, but I drink hers all the time and it's GOOD. You can drink it as is, or dilute if you want.
In a quart jar: 2 Cups of cleaned grapes + 1/2 sugar. Add enough boiling water to fill. Put on lid and finger tighten rings. Jar SHOULD seal on it's own. If not, hot bath for 10 mins. Let juice age 2 weeks then enjoy. And you can eat the grapes inside too, they are delish!
I would really like the recipie for the grape pie, please???
mg
Hey, Sarv,
I use the programs MG is talking about too.
I love them.
But I love Spy Sweeper even better. It catches the viruses, adwares, etc. and then fixes them totally. You can download a free Spy Sweeper good for 30 day.
I had to do this yesterday with my computer problem I spoke about yesterday here. It worked wonderful.
I ended up buying it online for $19, $10 off with the online coupon. I have used this program in the past years when it was free and then you had to pay for it, I stopped using it.
Then I run the online Norton program to find out what viruses I have or don't have any more. It is:
http://www.symantec.com/homecomputing/
then click down on the left hand side of the page Security Check, then click Go, and then the red button for Virus Detection. And click intstall several times.
This program downloads a program to find anything on your computer. It works great. Have used it for years.
I use the Browser Dave recommends (Firefox) and never have any of those problems.
I should add the free online scan link I posted above scans for adware, spyware and viruses. I had Spy Sweeper, but for some reason I started having problems updating it's database.
mg
Say Goodnight, Gracie.
Goodnight Gracie.
Hi Babs and hi again everyone else,
It IS getting kind of hard to keep up with everyone's news on this thread! I know I'm leaving half of you out with each response, but my memory just can't cope with all of the information here. Apologies in advance.
Darius, I, too, think your health news sounds positive. I can't imagine any doctor these days, let alone a specialist, advising you to wait and see for 3 months if he thought the odds weren't vastly in favor of a positive diagnosis.
I'm hoping the frost holds off here for awhile. There are still quite a few tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, zucchini, and winter squash out in the garden that could stand more time to ripen. I'm enjoying the cosmos, nasturtiums, marigolds, and zinnias that are planted out there in the veggie garden too. Hope they last a while longer as well. My husband manned my store yesterday so that I could catch up to the tomato harvest. I cooked a lot down into a big pot of American chop suey and also sauteed all the yellow squash that I'd collected in the refrigerator so that I could freeze it.
We had a bit of excitement tonight. Just as we were pulling into the driveway, I saw a burst of sparks coming from one of the big trees right in front of the house. It was quite windy here today and several branches and a big chunck of bark and half-rotted wood had already fallen from that tree. Something must have happened to the top wire on the electric wires strung from the telephone poles, because every time a leaf or branch touched the wire, it sparked and popped. I called the electric company and the person I spoke with said she'd report it, but we were all on tenterhooks until someone actually showed up to deal with the situation. All I could think of was the rather dry tree catching fire and setting the house alight. We checked on the location of all three cats and I suggested that my mother grab her purse and any truly necessary papers, etc., just in case!
Aria and dcat, you are both much braver than I would be about the macular degeneration. It's one of my nightmares. I've always been an avid reader and have always enjoyed doing crafts, cooking, and gardening. I really don't know what I would do if I lost the use of my eyes and/or hands. I'd rather be confined to a wheelchair than to lose either of those. Best wishes to both of you that it will never get that bad.
Aria, for some reason I kept thinking that you were up in the foothills around Zoar. Guess I ought to take a look at a map once in a while!
Having a serious fight with my husband and going over old, stale, ground. Thought about pulling out the sleeper couch tonight, but it's too much bother. I'll probably just wait 'til later when he's snoring away before I go to bed.
Balvenie, glad to hear you're feeling better. Keep up all that inspiring renovation!
I was supposed to bake a pie tonight, but don't think I'm really up for it. Maybe I'll just prepare the crust and do the rest tomorrow night or the night after. I'd best get a move on anyway.
'Night all.
Good Evening all,
MG, We are resorting to looking at dealers for mobile homes now. Levy county has to have a certification of the home, or they will certify it before permiting me to put in septic and well.
I found out today, the dealers do sell used homes and dealers are licensed to certify. Found one in Gainesville 16X80 3bdrm/2full baths, delievered, hooked up and tied down for $14,5k. I will go see the man on Wednesday and try to work a deal, maybe better. But checking with other dealers as well.
Carol, thanks so much for the postcard/seeds. What a great idea!!!!! and I love the flower selections of the seeds. Thats wonderful. I can't wait to get up there and plant them.
I'm starting to get excited now. Got a big job going, several others planned so things are looking good that I won't have to leach all my savings for this move. And that is what I had hoped for.
Molly
:^)))
Molly I've been working on that, you will have DMail in a sec.
mg
Too late to write long stuff, but YAYYYY MOLLY!!! This is such great
progress!! I'll save seeds for you too but I'll wait until you are settled so they don't get lost in the shuffle!!
Night, George......
Oh Molly, glad they got there ok. I will send you more seed next spring but I had bought some of these cards and thought you would enjoy it now.
Molly, how old is that mobile home. I have lived in one several times and know a lot about them. They are a great way to live. We had one when I was first married and it suited us just fine. The size sounds good. We had a 15 x 60 with 2 bed. at either end of it.
McC, hope you don't catch on fire with that tree. That sounds dangerous.
Carol (DR)
Just dropping in for a HI and a wave~~~~~~~~~~. Went to dr today, go to doctor tomorrow, supposed to make more appointments--would rather clean the toilet with my toothbrush.
Made an old recipe last night-stuff butternut squash filled with sausage dressing. finished it tonight. Yummy! thanks for the new scone recipe-favorites of mine....
Cold snap, but didn't freeze. Got the first of the basil in for pesto, glad that we are heating back up a little (no more 90"s!!!!!!!!) so I can steal a little more time to garden before I take off to visit sister.
Better get up to bed.
Keep safe and happy all.
Marcia
I told you all to stop being so chatty, I was doing errands today and it has taken me over an hour just to catch up!!. So I won't post on Sunday night, how about monday about noon!!
Daisyruffles, I have the spy sweeper ,and it keeps me going without any problems.
Sarv, I have carpel tunnel, and it bothers me most at night. I guess, Being up and moving around during the day , I don't notice it that much. Wasn't that sweet of the guy to give you a gift card!! Love hime and have never met him. So is your tongue still bothering you? Good sounding lunch!! Snoring body in the chair, want my dog? So yeah I am on for a slumber party, been many years.
Meezer, cleaned your car once this year. This is a fairly new car and DH just cringes when there is anything in it. But leaves the cleaning to me!!
Aria, Erma Bomback was a favorite of mine. Glad to hear of another smoker, we are a dying breed. Stuffedd pork chops, my favorite, and pecan pie also.
Blooms, a pet blanket, how about a human blanket?
Mollly thanks for the seeds, got them yesterday.
Sounds like you are making progress on the move!!
Betsy Bug, what time do you get on the chat? I have been there early, but mostly boring conversations.
Morning Gayle, I laughed when I read "bedroom security". And DH says you are bent not warped. I probably am too.
Darius, I got tired just reading about your trips while DS was there. Let me know what normal really is, please. Cat and you can get back to normal.
Babs, seems like you have had an interesting life, with all the moving etc. I liked your "Global Citizen" remark, and the sea story and fairy tale. BTW, cute fur kids!! If your DH feels unnecessary, please send him down, I could use his help!!
Well half way through reading all the posts for the day our electricity went out. So it delayed this post. Remember I will be away this weekend, so keep it down, please.
Night all, sweet dreams, awakening refreshed and raring to go!!
defoecat, do you wear wrist braces at night? I found part of my CTunnel is relieved by wearing them at night and I also wear the right one when I'm on the computer alot. Using the mouse seems to irritate it sometimes.
If you guys could see everything I have to put on or in to go to bed every night, you would just laugh yourselves sillier! And you wonder why DH works 3rd shift! Let's just say leaping out of bed is not an option, roflmbo!
mg
Edited to add a link, you really need to see this picture!!!

Happy belated birthday to the birthday folks. and welcome to the newbies. Too late to mention everything. Hope all the owies mentioned will get better too! Too many to mention, are we all getting old or what!?!?
Well, we pulled a real oops here! DH read the letter from school that we were chaperones for the band trip on Sat. next week. Talked to DS last night cuz i cldn t find the ltr and turns out the trip is this Sat., tmr to be exact. grrr! so i had to sign off work from 10 to 2 on Sat. If no one picks it up, I don t get my .50 bonus for the month, bummer! And to top if off, I put the boat on ebay for DH on Tues. night and it sold on Wed. night. Folks from Port Huron, MI are going to be here around 10 am Sat for it so guess who has to go chaperone alone? yep, me! and it's a lo-o-ong day - leaving at 9 30 am and returning after 1 am on Sun. Yikes!
Still picking some raspberries but we had frost on the vehicle roofs last night - not on the windows tho. Thought that was odd. Hope it doesn t get any colder tonight, didn t bring any geraniums in and I'd be VERY ticked at myself if they froze.
Went and helped clean DD's house for her Discovery Toys party. Wow, sold over $400. of toys. She gets over $85 free merch. Not a bad deal!
I shud be in bed..... night Gracie......zzzzzzzzzzz......
Morning, did I spend an awful night. Three huge pieces of grape pie...ugh, I don't want any more till next year= in fact I may just toss the rest out...Why do I do that silly stuff. I tossed and turned and walked the floor.....cursing myself.
YUCK- class trip!~ I absolutely hate those trips!! I get major bus sick and always had to sit in the front seat behind the driver. I finally got smart and assigned all the kids to the parents so I could just be free to put out any fires. Still was an exhausting day for me. Glad I don't have to do it anymore although I went with DGS last year and came home vowing that I would not do another!
GRAPE PIE
1 1/2 lbs purple grapes (4c) (2c skins and 2 c innards)
1c sugar (I would use less next time)
1/3 c flour
1/4 tea cinnamon
slip skins from grapes, set skins aside. Bring grape pulp to a boil; simmer uncovered for 5 min. Put thru a sieve or food mill to remove seeds. Add skins to pulp.
In a large bowl mix pulp, skins, sugar, four and cinnamon. Mix well. Turn grape mixture into pastry lined 9 in pie plate. Bake at 400 deg for 25 min. While baking, mix up top crust - 1/2c flour, 1/2 c b. sugar, melt 1/4 c butter - mix these three things together. Sprinkle atop pie and bake another 15 min more. I covered the edges of the crust with one of those thingys so it didn't burn.
This is very easy and tastes just like blueberry pie. Since we have a bumper crop of grapes, it fit right in!
I will have to do something bout this computer - thanks for all the tips. I have an old imac - will that make a difference in the spyware programs?? I am totally ignorant when it comes to puters.
Temps were 41 deg this morning- brrr. But it is supposed to warm up nicely in the 70's and then the 80's by the weekend.
My tummy is still rolling, so I need to go recline in the chair for a bit....
Good Morning to everyone! (And I agree with dcat...) MAN! it takes forever to catch up with the posts when I let a couple of hours pass between 'check ins'. LOL Not to mention I forget what I've read by the time I get to the bottom. hehehe
One thing I forgot yesterday but remembered this morning was that "Marshweiller" picture! MG...that's a super description of of *all* the Rotties that we've had the pleasure of having *owned* us. hehehe I think it's strange that we've had 4 of them living in our house over the years and they've all been *given* to us. The first two females we got had names when we got them. Within 24 hours I'd changed their names to "Sweetie" and "Petunia". I thought it was funny but a lot of our visitors were *shocked* to hear such 'cute' names for dogs that are supposed to be SO vicious! (It's my contention that it's the owners who are "vicious" NOT the animals!) We still have one 8 y/o female (Jazz = jasmine) but when she's gone we won't be getting another. The insurance companies have a 'thing' about insuring households with Rotwiellers in our area. (And I loved your comment about "leaping out of bed is NOT an option" (Been there, done that...and had to clean up more than a few messes. hehehe)
Sarv...honestly! Some of your indulgences blow me away. I get sick to my stomach just *reading* "3 huge pieces of..." much less trying to get away with *eating* them. LOL (oh...gag...a day or so ago I ate a *whole* carmel frosted cinnamon roll. And by the time I got it 3/4 of the way finished, I was literally choking it down. But I remember the time when I could polish off a 6-pak of double Butterfingers before I got home from the store. :-D Someone pass the 'barf bag'.)
Now that I'm a diabetic those indulgences are mostly fond memories...except for the occasional carmel frosted cinnamon roll. LOL (I have a glucose monitor that helps keep me in check...IF I use it. ~evil grin here~)
Kooger, I have some geraniums that need to be dug up too. Thanks for the reminder! (Hope everything works out for Saturday...It's been decades since I had to endure a 'class trip' and I don't miss them one iota!)
Later, peoples. Hope you ALL have a great day!
~julie~
Morning, every one, great reading all your posts but running short of time need to gp for a long walk, sciatica is hurting a lot this morning. Later a friend is going to pick me up for brunch some where, hope I can sit that long!
Sarv, peeling ! 1/2 lbs. of grapes? Please!!! How long does that take??? Are you growing Concord grapes??? But it must be worth it, pie sounds absolutely yumm
Maria
Aria- ya don't peel them - just squish them - innards fall out and then you plunk the skin in another bowl. Honestly it isn't at all hard- I wouldn't be doing it if it was!! I'm a real lazy cook!! (ya=use concord grapes too)
Now, a six pack of butterfingers - yummm brings back memories. I am finding that the older I get, the more I can't indulge like I used to. I just feel like when I do and it isn't worth it anymore.
Still have my headache/tummy problem - but am going off to the workout place cause we're meeting afterwards for coffee/munchies!! Some things never change.
Man, either my typing is going down the tubes or I need a new keyboard ...
OK, Sarv, so I will just squish them, I just knew the seedless grapes I eat every day cannot be squished !
Don't eat so many munchies, Sarv, no wonder your stomach is upset, mine would be too!
Maria
Good morning, everyone! It's another wonderful day in the Parking Lot Coffee Clatch. I've just had so much fun catching up on everyone's posts, but holy crow, how does one keep up with who said what without scrolling back? Woohoo!! Thank goodness for the ability to scroll back.
MG, thank you so much for the sweet picture you posted the link to. I'm going to make that my screen saver it's so sweet!
sarv48, thank you for setting us straight about "squishing" those grapes for the pie. I was just picturing myself with a paring knife peeling each and every grape by hand...NOT!
BTW, the dead critter under the house is gone. Hubby came home from work and took care of the situation. Aren't you all so happy you're being protected by such a BRAVE sailor?!? *LOL*
I've got to scoot. I have to run into town and draw my Mum's labs and drop them off for processing so her doctor has them available for her next appointment with him on the 4th of October. Then I'm coming straight home and back to bed so I can get some sleep. I've only had a 3 hour nap since coming home from work last night (at 0230) and I have to work again this evening.
I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Take care and enjoy yourselves and remember to *Buckle Your Seatbelt* and *Don't drive faster than your angel can fly!*
Dag Nab It..........I did it again......forgot to plunk the "Watch Thread" twanger.......
Thank so much for the Happy Birthdays. and it was......DH took me to dinner with friends and we had a great time. I just messed around all day doing nothings. It was great. I sure am getting used to this retirememt thingy.
Now that it's take me an hour to catch up here....gots to go and do Something productive today. I don't know what.......well maybe just one more game of reverse solataire.......or two...........????
Hap
Good Afternoon Gobblers!
I'm glad you all got a kick out of my Rosie, now who WANTS her? She is #1 on my s&%t list right now, grrr. I set some maters out on the patio table to ripen yesterday morning. Rosie ate all 14 of them last night. Ever shampooed carpets at 3am? After the 3rd time cleaning the carpet in my bedroom I gated her in the bathroom. Had to move the catbox, trash can, hamper and the step stool first tho. I was on one side of the bed shampooing and she was on the other side making a new mess. And then she tried to bury it with dh's dirty clothes he leaves piled on the floor. But that's another rant, lol.
'Nuff about THAT!
Sarv~ I'm going to have to make that pie. But I do have a q. What is the reason for putting the skins back in?
Julie~Rosie is also known as "Nosy Rosie Posy" And I added a few other choice words last night. My insurance agent (American Family) has informed me I will not be renewed on my house insurance at some point in the future. Even tho we are not completely sure of what her father is, she appears close enough for a full Rott. We know her momma was purebred, she ended up at the same shelter 3 weeks after the pups, and her papers came with her. The pups (10 of them) were dropped off in the middle of the Christmas night in a 2 foot square cardboard box. It was 20* that night. The "owner" and I use that term with regret, was later caught and charged with 10 counts of cruelty, all her other animals seized and she got slapped with a $15,000 fine. Prolly won't ever pay the fine, but she is banned from ever owning another animal in the state. Anyway, I checked around and State Farm will insure a Rott. So I will be switching to them in the future. Oh, and I use junk mail envelopes to make notes as I read the posts. Then I shred them, lol.
Babs~I'm glad you liked that pic so much. It just struck me as soo cute and funny at the same time. And I was glad to see your dh sucked it up and de-crittered. Tell him I didn't know a Squid was ascared of a 'possum.
Betsy~HEDA test is not too bad, they will either start and IV or put in a hep-lock and use that as a port. The test istelf is not too bad, I got uncomfortable when they tried to re-create the symptoms I was having, but they may not do that with you. Oh yeah, that table is hard and COLD! THe Endo is easy peasy, they drug you enough to make you silly, then spray your throat with "Hurricaine Spray" and that numbs it. It tastes kinda gross, but I was so loopy I didn't care. And the Endo itself is really quick. I had 20 biopsies taken and I think it was over in less than a half hour.
"Overhung"....that's BAD! ROFL
Kooger~I signed dh up for the next school trip. With his permission! Heh Heh Heh. I knew it was the long one, but he didn't. First graders are going to the Madison Zoo next month. *whistling innocently*
Aria~I have blown discs in my back at L5/S1. Sciatica sucks. I have pain, weakness, and numbness in both legs and my butt most of the time. PT and traction have helped, but what has allowed me to pretend to function is Ultram, generic name Tramadol. I've been taking it for 10 years and it doesn't eat your stomach. It helps the pain but doesn't give me the mind haze of a narcotic. It does give me really bad dry mouth, but I can happily live with that. Here is a link if you would like some info: http://www.medicinenet.com/tramadol/article.htm
WHEW!

MG, BetsyBug, and Aria... looks like we have a foursome of gals with physical problems!
I got some good news today... the Public Health Dept. can get my newest prescription (from the lung specialist this week) for me FREE! It's yet another inhaler (Spiriva), which would cost me around $140 per month. Whew.
Darius that is great news!!! $1680 a year you would have had to scrimp to find. Isn't it outrageous the prices can be? I've made it very clear to my docs when I couldn't afford their first choice drug. And I NEVER leave the office without asking for samples. Some of my docs are nice enough to just keep me supplied with samples.
Happy~I'm sorry, how did I miss your post? Sheesh. I'm glad you enjoyed your birthday! Now what is reverse solataire? And where do you play it?
