Somebody Stop Me!!! If you Can!!!
my Lowe's puts plants on clearance (50% off) when they are 85% dead. I have bought a few in the past, but they were too far gone for me, they didn't survive. A few days after Christmas, HD had lots of things on clearance for "one cents" There wasn;t a price on anything and when I asked about the Christmas catus, she said they had all been marked down to a penny, well I got all ten of them and also some other plants that were in red containers. I will be going back everyday after Christmas this year, looking for the markdown.
Goof for you Purple:) Our HD sucks! ...and to pour salt into the wound ... they have all the stuff they are going to put in the dumpster right there for you to see...when you know you can take it home and get it to survive.
want to hear something funny? All these people were in line waiting for to get a price on my "trash plants'. One guy had this beautiful Camille tree...full of buds! I walked over to admire his costly tree while waiting for the manager. I says to him " you know that tree is going to drop all those buds once you get it in the ground? He ask why is that? I told him because ... first ...the plant has to develop a good root system in order to bloom...and to be perfectly honest you might not see flowers on this tree for another two or three years! LOL he was aghast! To calm him down I said ...but its well worth the wait. Thats what gardening is all about. He looked sorta disapointed ...but I just wanted him to know, I knew what I was doing! lol

Hey Nancy Ann someone on another thread says this is plant #2. what do you think?
http://davesgarden.com/pf/showimage/76924/
Sedrick, without seeing the plant in person, I can't be sure. Sedum is a succulent. Does your plant have succulent qualities? Does it look like you could break a piece off anywhere and just stick it in the ground to root? Are the leaves of thick substance? I am not familiar with the daisy plant. I don't grow any form of daisies except gaillardia and sunflowers. Your foliage looks like it could belong to a sedum or that daisy. Our lowe's sells a lot of sedums. In fact, this year I got a new one called Autumn Fire.
So without actually seeing your plant in person or knowing more about it, I couldn't say what it is. Sorry.

WOW guys and gals, Great hauls!! been doing the lowe's thing for a couple of weeks now and have got really great deals too.
Got 10 1 gallon pots of May Night Salvia for $5:00 several red astilbe I think 8 in all for $ 4 bucks several pink and white Guiria for a quarter each. I go every couple of days or so. I love the end of season clearence. The perenials come back stronger each year. May never shop in spring again. A friend went with me yesterday who has very little gardening experience, and was loading up her cart with the annuals that were basically free a Dime each and I told her to Stop! she ask why and joking I said
Because here in NC Friends don't let friends buy Annuals.LOL
I have to agree with so many of you. My Lowe's is rotten... never anything good there and seldom on sale, even though I did get some end of season caladiums last week for 69 cents. Not really a great deal since I already have so many of them... but what the heck. I also bought a large fall mum for my front porch, NOT on sale but with a million buds... none of which have opened yet! We have some really good local growers here that I usually buy plants from, and after my trip to Lowe's, I remembered why!
I had to chuckle about the HD comments & the dumpster. I know someone who works at a Home Depot in their garden dept. Where else? The truth is... most of those plants that go in the dumpster during the day come back out by employees on the midnight shift and are taken home to be revived! I live in a different state, so I never dumpster dived... but my employee friend has some really nice plants!
Friends don't let friends buy Annuals.....
OMG! That's hilarious! I'll have to remember that one!
Dumpster Dive? I love it...lol!
Gldandrews...I hear you! I bought a bunch of Salvias and i am not sure if they are perrenials or not. Purple volcano(salvia lyrata) and East Fresland(salvia nemorosa) and for some reason they tried to mark out the name east fresland. Whats up with that?
I did get one of those Black&Blue salvias. ...suppose to be a perrenial here.

There was a song in the 70s about Muhammad Ali, the boxer. It has the title "Catch me if you can...". This thread reminded me of that. Ali was at his peak of his career when this song was created.
