Molly, the lilies you shared seem to be thriving in spite of our heat and humidity, must be because of their origin in Florida?? Hope they aren't too shocked when winter comes to Wisconsin.

And look at all the leaves starting to fall already...!!

M5,

I can't remember which ones I sent and if they had bloomed yet or not. I have about 4-5 right now that are sending up new scapes with buds. I also have about 3-4 that haven't bloomed at all this summer. I'm still waiting because those are ones I lost the tags on and will need to see the bloom to ID them.

You may continue to have green up until it gets cold. But when it gets cold, you might ask the DL gurus over in the daylily forum if you need to mulch them or something for the winter. I suspect you may have to.

Yep they do look good for you. Did you get some others from elsewhere too?

Darius, the recipe sounds great.I've usually saute'd peppers in olive oil and baked garlic but never tried both together. It sounds like a winner.
Sarv. Yep,its F american. I collect it as did my mother and MIL.Love the stuff. We do paper plates a lot too,but now and then I like to use the good stuff.
M5. We can still get the rounds of rye tak ,and also a Swedish variety if I drive into Ballard ( Seattle's Norsk neighborhood).
I think the red and yellow peppers are $1.00 each at Krogers now, and I have some garlic from the garden so maybe that's in the offing for today or tomorrow.Always open for something new.

Well have been busy today, so just now getting around to catching up on this forum. After the usual, church, lunch, reading paper and napping, went out to water and look over my queendom. Pulled a few weeds, and discovered that one of DH's beagle pups had dug up a day lily! AAARG, I told him that he might find a For Sale ad in this weeks paper for a 7 month old beagle pup!! This the second time that has happened. I found the root portion and replanted, but don't know if it will survive or not. This is one I just paid big bucks for. Had to put up some supports for a morning glory that I rescued about 3 weeks ago. I found it in some weeds, out by the "unused dog pen" where I had sown it this spring. ALso rescued 3 cardinal creepers and 3 other morning glories. Had that plot all drawn, and labeled, now don't know what is what!!. The dahlias bulbs that I bought on clearance have buds. Never expected that, as it was so late when I planted. Clearance Gladiolias are up and starting to bud. So I will continue to buy those dry looking clearane bulbs, as some are still viable. Had about 50% come up. Not bad for a $1.00 for 12bulbs.

(Zone 7a)

Finally "threw in the trowel" today, so to speak. A pair of crepe myrtle 'Natchez' have converted my "flower garden" into a "green thought in a green shade". Natchez is at a gate to the kitchen garden beyond, so needed something low, evergreen, shade tolerant, elegant, beautiful and with a demeanor such that it would look like there's no other place on the planet it rather be. Solution: Christmas ferns. They've been self-sowing around and cowering under an advancing yew hedge way out back, so planting them in their new spot today has greatly restored their dignity (though not mine - after moiling about in the dirt with temp's in the 90s and body parts in full rebellion, I felt like an advert for a pig sty).

And then! clearance sale...$1 a pot for monster angel wing begonias...Next, I planted 10 of them skipping through the ferns and across the path and another path lined with alpine strawberries (Critterologist gave me a clump in July which I divided into 5 divisions and now a total of 14 - another lovely low edging). The begonias move left to right in a sinuous curve in tandem with the ferns. Am learning to love the "Victorian" look. Not to mention begonias.

Also under the crepe myrtles at the gate is box and a silver variegated holly that stays about 4' at the other end of that long bed along a 4' trellis. Purple leaved Cimifuga 'Elstead' rears up in the back.

This makes a great winter garden from the kitchen windows at the back of the house, as well as celebrating the other seasons. This area is bounded along the property line on the left with a yew hedge, silver variegated periwinkle dripping over the stone wall holding the hill off the patio out the back door and a saucer magnolia in the back left corner. Autumn leaf fall from the magnolia and crepe myrtles provide a natural mulch that greatly reduces maintenance. It's bounded on the right by a brick path across which this garden continues.

Herb garden and water lilies where the old well used to be outside the back door where there's more light - will move some "uncouths" to the kitchen garden tomorrow (chives, sweet marjoram, lovage under netting, French taragon). Am not going to let them trounce the silvers: Artemisia 'Powis Castle', lavender, rosemary and thymes around the lowest level/first pond, above which silver santolina and purple heliotrope and more thymes share the next level with another small waterlily pond. Black ophiopogon parlied from a single 2" pot "grounds" the whole business under a lantern by the brick path.

I can't just poke a plant into the ground. Mentally, there's an overall orchestration of the whole to which every part relates. Not to mention relating the plant to the spot it's intended to occupy. I hope you folks will humor this quirk of mine. At least, in pelting you with this wordy tale about planting ferns and begonias today, I spared you the details of what it takes to be a model for a pig sty (not to mention all the "But firsts...).

PS - outsmarted the voles this year and have wonderful harvest of parsley. The solution to that entails keeping parsley roots out of the ground altogether. One 87 cent pot pulled apart this spring and planted around a very wide, low, shallow pot with creeping white torenia showering all through the parsley did the trick (and the torenia might be what's kept Mr. Woodchuck from getting too inquisitive with that pot, too). This is a great combination for the shade garden.

Am afraid that all I do (physically) when not gardening these days is recuperate. This doesn't make for very interesting posts from me to you. Would appreciate hearing how you recuperate yourselves. At my age and state of physical shambles, recuperation takes so darn long grrrrr.

Y'all don't have anything on me when it comes to shambles inside the house. Thank goodness I don't have a digital camera. Hope to install some floors in the kitchen area when it snows.

We're living on grilled cheese sandwiches and hotdogs these past few days since it hit the 90s - energy to function in kitchen very low. Anyone have quick, simple, inexpensive ideas for meals?

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Blue, I know what you mean about recupping. I only did a few things on Sat and Sun I got up for 8am Mass, went to breakfast with my DH and then at noon I was in for a 2 hour nap....got up and took another 1/2 nap before supper. Went out for supper and was passing out in front of the TV about 8.

I do have some medical excuses, but Dern, I can't take this getting older. Yesterday I was almost in tears. I will be 65 next month and I am about ready to scream.

SOOOOOOOoo, to answer your ? about recup....I sleep and sleep like dead.

It's so great to talk to someone that understands how I feel.

Good morning everyone!
Darius, I check out your recipe...and Man, does it ever look good! My mouth was watering just looking at the pic...I can imagine what would have happened if I could have SMELLED it. ~slobbbbbbber~

M5...wasn't the weather "grand" yesterday? And it's supposed to be just as nice here again today. (YAY!!!) Glad you had a good time at the fair and art show this weekend. About those Daylilies...a little mulch certainly won't hurt for the winter, but I really like to make sure mine are mulched for the summer. Our sandy soil sucks down the water in no time, so the mulch really helped me out this year.

HI Molly! (I remember "work"...but that's OK...I forget it as soon I get back into the yard. ;-)) I got those cannas planted...and it looks like I'll be getting a little growth on the tubers before I have to dig them back up for the winter. Thanks again!

Bonnie...I know *exactly* what you mean by that "unused dog pen" Both my sons (living in close proximity - on the same block) BOTH have cages, pens, etc...and BOTH let their dogs 'visit' grandma's garden. Last year they took out some of my prize daylilies just "walking" through the yard. This year, a couple of the male canines are finding some of shrubs to their liking. ARGHHHHHHH!

Karen...you made me LOL when I read that you couldn't just 'plop' a plant. You garden sounds like a symphony...mine is CHOP-STICKS! LOL &LOL

Nothing special on the agenda for me today...other than maybe getting a couple of spots ready to accept my hosta order that should (according to the folks at Hostafarm dot com) arrive Wednesday or Thursday (YAH!!! Some growing time for my new babies!).

Talk at y'all later! Have a good one!

Mornin Julie and All!

Any "seriously messy and lazy lads or lassies = SMALL'S" that need some support on getting un-cluttered - check out this thread. http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/532162/
We may not be getting much done - but we're having a great time talking about it!

I have a new love in my life - my diamond band saw that I purchased from our own dear Darius. Finally got around to using it yesterday - oh wow! I'll never cut any intricate pattern for stained glass by hand again. Sigh - his name is Cutly!

No yard work or gardening for me this past weekend. Weeds are taking over. Weeds and bird gourds. Too hot and miserable. Hopefully we'll have a front pass through today that will bring rain and somewhat cooler temps. If not - they're going to throw me out of the neighborhood.

Well - better get to work - and I've got to prep for chorus start up tonight. Have to get music ordered/organized/in folders - why can't I be two people?

Have a great day everyone!

Marcia

Today, I'm going to do my recouping in between the But Firsts! pertaining to moving herbs here on GOB. At 6:30 am, I already felt like a scorched slug out there. Extricated a Scarlet O'Hara volunteer morning from some glads, horehound, beebalm and chrysanthemums where I plan to insert the uncouth chives. Now, does that sound like a plan or a plop? You can see what goes on anyway in the "kitchen garden", so why should I start planning now?

Happy, I look forward to recouping with you today on GOB, too. We can pass the ice bag back and forth. Have you ever tried putting 4/5 water with 1/5 rubbing bag in a large ziplock bag and then freezing it? It never gets solid - just slushy - and is easier to perch on offending sore spots than the usual hard ice bag. My physical therapist said that ice burns are possible, so put a towel between your skin and the slush-ice bag and don't let it sit in one spot more than 20 minutes.

M5, BetsyBug and Robert, I would love to see morning glories done in stained glass. Would either of you two happen to have a picture to post? Robert, have you ever worked on a project like that? Missed the state fair here again - have illusions of everything being under control here before going back to work (no set date) - so, I really enjoyed M5's story of her visit.

Bonnie and Julie - pooches in the garden. Once upon a time, the two houses to our right, facing towards the river, joined their gardens to ours and that was a wonderful time for us all. Two little kids were born in the farthest house, and their wonder and excitement over tadpoles and striders, etc. in tour little ponds were so much fun. The fellow in the middle house was as centered, grounded and witty as you can get. But, one day as I trudged up my steps after the 45 minute hike from the end of the bus line after work, there he was with a friend and a pooch who stood about 3/4 as tall as he and his friend (they were short, but still...). We all smiled, said hello, and they left promptly, pooch with size 13 paws making little craters on edging plants in its wake. I didn't need to say anything, his face said it all. Must say, DH and I miss him being next door terribly.

BetsyBug, speaking of order in the "castle (hovel?)" before going back to work, thank you for that link - have read a little and am starting to feel a sense of hope...

Well, humidity calls. Shall return.

Cool and nice here this morning. I even had to come in an slip on a sweatshirt (over the nightie) for my garden walk.

Got up, dressed, fed and am ready to go off on my shopping trip - that will kill the whole day tho!! Tomorrow will be a work in the garden day. My gardening buddy and I are gonna take a trip to our favorite garden nursery and see if there are any bargains. It is a little local joint, so even if things are not on sale, I try to buy something from them.

New DIL and son came over last night. I gave them a huge pile of DS's school stuff that I had saved. (cleaned out two chests!!) She said she was gonna pitch it all - didn't want any more in her house. I tell ya, she is gonna be a hard one to deal with! She at least could have pretended to want it!! This is gonna be a bite you tongue relationship I fear!!

Killed two absolutely huge slugs this morning - I've never seen any so big. Impalled them with a plant marker. Gave me great satisfaction!

Betsy, when I read your post I thought you had gotten a diamond from Darius - I thought woohoo - that Darius really has the 'stuff' at her place!! Then I read it again- LOL

I joined the 'flylady' place yesterday, but today found 8 things in my email from them - that is too much for me. I may unjoin...

Well, time to hop in the car- gas is pushing 3.00....may be my last far away shopping trip for awhile!!

Sarv, the woman my son married I think is worse, she does not respond to anything, no thank you for gifts, ever! their child, my GD, is 6 years old, every year I sent her complete outfit for fall and winter, every thing you can think of from shoes to head, birthday and Christmas gifts not to mention clothes from places I traveled to never know if it was received or not till I call my son, who is under the impression his wife thanked me, Ha! I think he is suffering illussions.

Good morning. Wow, you guys really talked it up while I was gone for 3 days! Last evening while I was waiting to get sleepy I read most of what I'd missed and finished it up this morning.

Darius, my heart aches for you while you are in the midst of this waiting game with your mother's health situation. It seems that you have covered all the bases and will be somewhat prepared when that time comes. I hope your family doesn't make things hard for you after the fact. Just remember, you have another family here who support your decision. Hugs to you.

The weekend trip over to the summit Santiam Pass in Oregon's Cascade Mts was beautiful. An endurance riding aquaintance who lives in Idaho drove to my place on Friday morning and then made the rest of the trip over with me, sharing travel expense. We pulled into a very busy gas station in one town and got into the diesel line, waited, waited some more, and finally got to the pump. The attendant said they had been having trouble with slow computers in their system all day. He punched in the information, turned on the pump and went to take care of other customers. By the time he got back the amount on the pump was $18.80 over what he had punched in, but since it was their error I didn't get charged extra. So nice when diesel was $2.70.9. Other stations in the area were up to $2.79.9.

My horse behaved quite nicely so the ride went very well and I finished it feeling like a human being who could still wander around and visit with friends, help a few other riders who were doing the 80 mile ride, and just relax after taking care of my horse. All together there were about 110 riders doing 4 distances, a 10 mile trail ride, a 30 mile ride, 50 and 80. My choice for the day was the 50 since I was riding my mare who is in her 2nd endurance season and 80 miles was more than I want her to tackle. I start my horses out doing slow 50's and later move them up to more miles. She should last many years in this sport at the speed I ride. Usually I finish in the back 1/3 of every group, this time was 33rd out of 40 or so finishers. We took most of the day and still had an hour and 11 minutes left on the time clock when we were done. The weather was perfect for the ride, but the trail had a lot of rocks in places.

Our camp was at a paved snowmobile park! UGH! I pulled the rubber floor mats out of the trailer for my horse to stand on overnight. There are better places to have camp but the Forest Service won't let us use them. Probably next year we will be able to camp at a rodeo grounds at the closest town, so that will give us better trails as well and we will get to see new things. Things are always changing in this endurance game. Over the 15 years that I have been involved in it I have sure seen a lot of the Northwest.

Well, it's time to get dressed, feed the horses who are already looking for their breakfast, and look around to see what was stressed by the hot, dry weather while I was gone. Gotta get the sprinklers started. Back later.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Good Morning, everyone. : )

Mary, sounds like a fun weekend, excepting the paved park. Ugh is right!

Spent the morning putting up interior wide window trim upstairs for my landlord in the new dining room, and have time for a few DG minutes before a shower. I have my doctor's appt. this afternoon to follow up on the ultrasound on my gall bladder last week.

My mother continues to sleep and not eat nor drink, but I did think she'd stay here at least until her pastor comes today. After that, it's a waiting game.

(Zone 8b)

(((Darius)))) I do hope this doesn't drag on too long for you. if she isn't drinking then it will be a matter of days.
Best wishes for todays appointment yourself - hope it turns out to be nothing more than tension - cos thats bad enough on its own.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Well sounds like everybody has the day pretty well under control. Mary I envy you and the sights that you must see when riding. DGD is taking riding lessons, and hasn't decided if she will compete or not. She is learning western, english, and barrel racing, plus jumping.

Had to take DM to Louisville today to have hearing aids tested and cleaned. I could have done it by myself, but she wanted to get out for awhile. The only place she goes is church, so I understand. Had a good visit, and ate lunch while we were out. Trying to be more patient, and spending more time with her. I guess the situation with Darius has opened my eyes. DM is 86, so I know that I don't have much more time with her.

The day is overcast, sprinkling rain occasionally, so haven't done much out side. Am catching up on some inside stuff, but don't enjoy that near as much as being outside. DH and I are not agreeing on putting in some more flower beds. I want to enlarge one, need some dirt hauled for another one, and want to establish from scratch another one. If it had been his idea, it would have been fine. So I will wait until it becomes his idea, then we can get it done. He is going to be gone this Thursday, if I get on the phone right now, I may be able to get the dirt hauled that day. Then, I can be working in that one, while listening to his compaints!! I don't really need them right now, but have started planning for the spring. So maybe by then, he will have mellowed to the ideas. It would be nice to just be able to do what I want, without all the extra input I get when I voice the ideas I have. Maybe he thinks he is helping me plan, but I see it as a kind of resistance to doing anything. I'll get off that soap box now. Thanks for listening. Do any of you have that problem? What makes men want to control everything?

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

ROTFLOL (and even harder) *with* Bonnie! Are you kidding??? I'm in the same boat with you, girl! That's why the DH and I are in goes in circles...we're both paddling in opposite directions. Hang in there, eventually he'll turn his back and you do as you please anyway. hehehe (Let him *think* he's controlling everything...we *know* better! ~grin~)

defoe - is my DH living at your house too?? LOL They must have given out the same model to a bunch of us!

Today I drove 60 miles to an outlet mall for a particular plate I wanted that was in their ad - guess what happened - they didn't have it~~ I was so disgusted... The clerk apologized and apologized - it wasn't her fault and I was pleasant about it. Guess I wasn't meant to have it. Did pick myself up $40 of other stuff tho! It's in the trunk until DH goes to the barn.

Aria - don't ya wonder what happened to good manners? I can't imagine not calling or sending thank=you notes. Our old priest still tells the story of how he received so many 'thank yous' from my sister and I. I still love receiving them - just having a person take the time to write them is so meaningful.

I always take my DGS to get an outfit for school. Last year he was absolutely awful - took him to Old Navy thinking it was a hip store for a kid. First he wouldn't get out of the car, when he did get in the store, he walked about 5 ft in the door and said 'all they have here is junk - I don't like anything' - finally got him to try on some shirts and pants and we did manage to get an outfit, but I told myself that NEVER AGAIN!! I'll buy myself an outfit and be much happier!!

Speaking of the devil - here he comes, so I better sign off. Got a new game called LCR -= ever played it?

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Had my doc's visit/report today. All the ultrasound photos look good. However, they didn't test to see how the gall bladder dumps but unless I have another bout, we're assuming everything is okay.

Everything else looks good too and I got another B12 shot. My blood pressure was down to 96/60, usually runs 115/70 or in that range anyway. It was higher last week when I had the attack... much higher.

The station where I got gas last Tuesday night for $2.239 was today (a mere 6 days later) $2.599. Up 36 cents in 6 days! The man at the produce stand across the street says the driver of the tanker that fills them up comes in there for boiled peanuts. The driver told him it will be well above $3.00, and very soon. My poor old (1992) pickup gets lousy mileage since the small engine has to labor to climb these mountains.

Speaking of DH's - aren't they all that way? I look at it this way, I work hard - and I'm gonna play hard too!

M., don't faint on me now, but I'm gonna make a suggestion to Sarv, that is quick and cheap.

Take a black picture frame [with glass] go to Michaels or equivalent supplier and get one of those see thru decals that fits both size and purpose. mount on glass in frame and presto. hanging up there it looks pretty darn good. oh yeah, has to be wood frame that accepts screw eyes to hang it by.

I was always ready with a cheaper solution, raising a family on a beginning teachers salary in the early 60's in the backwoods of NY. LOL ~Blooms

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Sarv - how bigs the window you want done? just curious you see.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Julie, Sarv, Betsy Bug, sorry that you have similar problems with DH. No, I am sure that I do not have any body else's husband residing here. Horrors, one is enough. Sarv, what is the new game LCR, what is that?

Betsy Bug, do you do stained glass, that pic was beautiful. I have been wanting to get into that, they offer a class about 15 miles from me in the winter, so maybe I will become a student again this winter.

Darius, hooray for the good report. I am sure that stress played a big part in that episode. I had a gall bladder attach about 30 years ago, very bad one, and haven't had any thing like that since. Looking back, I was in a stressful time in my life. Darius, thanks for getting me thinking about spending more time with my mom. You know that we are not guaranteed any length of time with friends or relatives, so we should cherish each encounter we have, take every opportunity to tell them how much they mean to us. You know life is so short.

Well, I was on the phone this afternoon ordering the load of top soil, delivered on Thursday. I informed the person that delivery was contingent on DH being away. Now watch him cancel his plans and be here, which will neccesitate another phone call to cancel the dirt. By hook or crook, I am going to get that load of dirt and have it worked down when DH comes home. It may not be this Thursday, but it will be ONE DAY.

About Thank you notes, drives me crazy when I go to the trouble to buy gifts for weddings, showers etc, then they don't even have the courtesy of writing a thank you. Sometimes, I would even accept a phoned thank you!!.

Gas, good grief, it was $2.59 in my area, and when I went to Louisville today, $2.69. May have to saddle DGD's horse in a few weeks.

School clothes buying. I try to buy for DGD. I've gotten pretty good at it. I just go in and buy the ugliest thing they have in the store, and it is just what she wants!!. No telling about the taste kids have in clothes!!

Well, off my soap boxes |(almost broke a leg jumping from one to another), going to do some reading and then beddy bye for me. BTW, I have apple cinnamon raisin bread on the counter, help yourselves.

Blooms - I will have to make a trip to Michaels/Hobby Lobby and see if I can locate any decals. I had my heart set on the 'real thing' tho.

Defo - love the note about buying the ugliest thing around!! I just got a coupon for 30% off at Kohl's, so I am gonna go there and treat myself to something. I really don't need anything, but how can you NOT buy with a coupon like that!! Maybe some new sheets or towels.

Folks and kids are coming over for hamburgs tonight, so I gotta bust butt and clean this place up, plus make a load of food for everyone.

I'm sitting her at the computer and have a wall of morning glories outside the door - man are they pretty this year,. I ususally have yellow die off leaves on the lower levels, but this year there was none of that. They are dark green and full of blooms - so pretty.

This morning I heard a 'scratching' in our entertainment center (by the door that gets left open courtesy of the cat) I think there is some kind of critter in there. I put the cat by it, but she just laid down and took a snooze-some hunter!!

DIL came over last night and was in a snit about work - I know she wants to quit, but with her spending habits, I don't think she will be able to afford it. She is a real pouter and drags everyone else down with her. I just try to change the subject.

Time for a garden walk in the jammies and boots~~ what a sight!!

D-Cat - go for it. I took two classes - and have learned a lot from reading and trial and error. It's addictive and I wish I didn't have to work for a living - cause I'd be doing it all the time. I'm trying to build a portfolio - so that I can start actually doing some for profit. But - most everything I do get's given away.....which is okay too. I just wish I'd remember to take pictures.....

Gotta go work now - real work - not fun work.

WOW, that textured stained glass window film looks beautiful! I may try some on the 12 pane door that goes into my son's house from my apartment. Would look nicer than the shade I have on there now. Privacy is an issue so I wonder how much it would block the see-through?

Thank heaven for two cool days in a row! And good news from Darius about her test, hope things stay on an even keel from now on. Stress can wreak havoc with your body, and the signs aren't always obvious.

Didn't do much yesterday, gave my poor feet a chance to recover from all that fair indulgence....! Trying to reduce my "road" time because it cost me over $30 to fill up my tank the other day, and it wasn't even on empty. I think the consumers are being manipulated, ALL our oil does not come from the middle east.

Sarv, Home Depot has big stick on "decals" that are very nice, for temporary relief from stained glass lust....Our neighbors keep their garage lights on all night, and it shines right into our bedroom, so I found a pattern I liked at HD, and trimmed it to fit the windows. It hasn't shrunk or peeled (you stick it on with just water) but if it does, it will be easy enough to replace. DIL does stained glass, and I'm hinting gently that it would be a nice gift...............! This was one sheet that I cut, so the full sheet is probably 24 X 30 because there was some left over.

Maria, speaking of good manners, I don't think any of my 5 grands except for the middle one can remember to say thank you until prodded or poked. I stop giving BD gifts when they get to 18, but when my second oldest was 16, I wrote him a check for his birthday and in the memo portion I printed "cashing this is not a thank you" and he still didn't call! So I called him and asked him how he enjoyed his last birthday check...he said "Last?" and I said, yes, because if I don't hear a thank you I assume it got lost and I don't want to send checks that get lost. I blame his parents. There's no excuse for not picking up the phone,or even sending an email.

Speaking of middle GS, in January he dropped over and while chatting he mentioned his birthday, and said "what are you going to get me?" I turned to him and said, "Alex, I'm going to get you exactly what you got me for mine!!" He blushed, and said, "Oops".
I must be the meanest gramma this side of the Mississippi. LOL

Dcat, I'm laughing about your dirt delivery requirements!! When DH plans a road trip or is going to some business thing I usually try to plan a dinner out with a friend, or something to entertain myself...and then he changes plans!! I think they do it to keep us on our toes!

I'm helping myself to some of that yummy apple cinnamon raisin bread, toasted, with butter and then I'm hitting the shower so I can go out and drag the sprinkler around the yard....again! Lawn service left a note yesterday noting that our grass is "heat stressed". Duhhhhh!!

Well, woke up to cloudy skies. While having that first cuppa, got some rain. About 4/10 of an inch. I had planned on going to the veggie garden and doing some work, but will put that off until later in the afternoon, or even tomorrow. Trying to get caught up on housework. Twin sister called last night, and said the she and hubby are coming down this Sunday. He is a funeral director, and it is hard for them to schedule being away. So he has hired some help, and is taking the day off. This means that I need to call and invite older sister and hubby, and older brother. So all in all I will have about 10 for lunch on Sunday.

Sarv, you didn't answer my question about LCR. Is this something so obvious that it has gone over my head again?

Meezer, going to do the State Fair thing on Saturday. DGD always wants to go, so I have enlisted the help of DS's girl friend to go with me to do the ride thing. I don't do that well. So on Sunday, with all the company, will be nursing the sore feet also. Maybe I can sit and direct the work for other 2 sisters!! Ha ha!!

Well going to go run the sweeper, and start some lunch. Will catch up later.

Just wait till gasoline is $5 a gallon, that's what it is in Europe where I have been this spring! When It was a dollar something here it was three there and so on.

You are not the meanest GM, if you are I am in step with you, LOL, no more to those that cannot write a thank you note though one is quite young but her mother certainly could help her to write one she does know her written alphabet at the age of six.

That window loooks wonderful, My DD bought one from ebay, an old one, for her bathroom, neighbor had plain view of it but D needed the light from it she solved the problem this way, it looks beautiful.
