Coffee and...Part 25...! :-D
Good Morning - actually I was up at 3am and then went back to bed for a short snooze and woke up to the phone at 8:30am - do you know how hard it is to sound alert when you have just been jarred awake!! That is the second day in a row that the phone has gotten me outta bed- unheard of for me!! Does time just fly for you all too? It seems like yesterday was Monday and now it's Friday. Where do all the days go to?
I called the job offerer and told him I didn't want the job - he was nice about it. Phew, now I feel better - I thought they would be ticked at me.
It is cloudy, drippy and muggy here today. Hope the sun DOESN"T come out - it will be a cooker then. I went out and took some pics, but the flash kept going off and made the flowers looked bleached out - will have to redo them later. Aren't digital cameras about the best thing!! Take em - look at em- and delete them if they aren't what you want.
Youngest DS is coming over today - they bought my 81 yr old folks cute little travel trailer. They are leaving on a vacation (honeymoon belated) on Monday - they are in hog heaven. Touring the upper part of Michigan - wish we could go with them. I told him yesterday when he stopped over that his and I decided to hook up the truck camper and join them - you should have seen his face... LOL
I think it is gonna be an inside day today - started raining. Oh well, maybe I will finish the mess I made upstairs =-decided to go thru a huge dresser that holds all our bank statements, kids art work when they were in school, and income tax forms . I am making piles and pitching.... yahoo.
Mornin all!
Looked this morning like we might get rain - but nothing yet. If my sinuses are any indicator - which they usually are - we might get some this afternoon. I sure hope so. I've been watering like crazy.
No other real news for now. If anyone hears from Darius - please post.
M.

sarv...
That's quite a collection for one dresser.....LOL quite varied, I'd say.....LOL
Come do mine now....OK?
Hap
Well they are predicting another scorcher for today. So I was out early and got the necessities taken care of. I am in now catching up on paying bills, running sweeper and running dish washer. We desperately need rain. Our county has been officially declared a Federal & State Disaster Area, because of no rain, the crops have failed, and generally just yukky!! I have continued watering my flowers and a few trees. It is just a matter of time before they put a restriction on watering of any kind.
Cooked first Ford Hook limas last night, and I swear, if DH hadn't commented on how many I was eating, I would have finished them all. Just love them. Had fried yellow squash, tomatoes, lima beans, corn on the cob,and fried chicken. Boy was it all good!! DH has watered the garden or we wouldn't have that. There won't be enough beans or corn to put up, just enjoy eating it.
Yeah, Mary you amaze me with your energy. How in the world do you manage it? Can you give us some tips? How old are you? I can't imagine working with the sheep all day, then having any energy left to do anything else!! I'm 58, and I can still turn out the work, but can't keep up with you.
Brace for the carpel tunnel is very annoying. I am wearing it as much as I can. Only take it off for cooking, washing dishes and taking a shower. It has helped some, but still the pain is waking me up at night. What with me in the brace, and DH using the CPAP at night for sleep apnea, hope no one visits our bedroom at night, as we must look like a semi-private hospital room.LOL
Well going to go give my Parson Jack Russell a bath, as he is infested with fleas. Have used about everything, and he still has them. Have fumigated the house 2 times and still am not sure about it. He goes outside and associates with the hunting dogs who are strictly outside dogs, and I think that is the problem. However, just a few minutes ago, I ordered enough flea treatment for all 5 hunting dogs, plus my dear "Bruno". So maybe in awhile, my domain will be flea free. This is the first year that we have had such a problem. Well later, as after the bath, will have to cope with his pouting!! He hates baths.LOL
Defoecat I believe if you add garlic to their food it keeps the fleas off. Worth a try, but not much or you'll have them smelling Italian!! Seriously too much isn't good for them - I think you can get tablets specially for dogs.
Mary has the secret of boundless energy - not sure where it came from, but she has it!!! Share the secret please?
Off for lunch now, back later.
Bonnie,
I believe fleas are cyclicle (sp) as are ticks. Periodically they tend to get really bad and then taper off to normally bad in another year. Down here we get a rash of ticks for a season once every 17 years or so.
Sounds like you have a lot of dogs and what I am suggesting can be expensive, it is for me with just 2 dogs. I treat my dogs once a month to a pill that defends them against heartworm as well as rendering fleas sterile when they bite the dog. Sentinel is the product. My oldest dog Baby has been on these pills almost her entire life (13yrs) and Snowy, my greyhound has been on them since I got her 4 years ago. After taking the first pill, it takes about a month for the life and reprodution process of the fleas to be completed. When the flea bites the dog it becomes sterile and soon there won't be any fleas within the dogs territories.
I see with you having hunting dogs this puts a monkey wrench into the works.
On the other hand, getting the fleas out of the house, sprinkle Boraxo powder in your carpets etc wherever fleas may hang out at. Don't know how this works, but it does, keep in mind the gestation period of the flea (10 days I think) you'll have to repeat the process. A vet told me that many years ago before Sentinel was available.
Darius, I haven't said much, but my thoughts have been with you. (((((Hugs)))))))
Molly
Thanks all for the advice on the fleas. As I said, I have tried everything. Just ordered Frontline Plus for all the outside dogs. So am attack
ing the problem from all areas. Will try the garlic on the food and the Boraxo on the carpets. I am running the sweeper every day, hoping if there are eggs, that eventually will get them all. I am determined that these small creatures will not get the best of me!!
Today was a lazy one. It's so hot that I have been inside most of the day.
DH and I are going out to eat with his cousin and wife. A nice break!! These hands don't have to cook tonight!!
Will check in later.
Went for a drive this morning.Just Tinker and me out to see the wide world.(wide at least in my frame of reference) Went 12 miles up the Mountain Loop Highway out of Granite Falls, as far as the Turlo Ranger Station and the beginning of the National Forest. It was a beautiful drive and I even stopped at a Real Estate office to see what property was available in the area, most of which was out of my price range. And then I realized that as much as I'd love to build another house (the only reason for thinking about some acreage) I've gotten too old and 'infirm' to clear the land, build a house and shops and start all over again. Old age sucks! But it was a delightful drive into a beautiful countryside that is there for us to enjoy vicariously whenever we want.
Corky, Mac and Missy were all on those once-a-month flea pills and we were seldom ever bothered with fleas.Tinker is on them now, but we may change to the liquid drops when these run out since thats what the Vet is suggesting now.Our weather has cooled off to a perfect mid to high 70 for a few days. Hope all are well.
Bal, old age sure does.
I have my baby on Revolution. It takes care of Flea, Heart Worm and Ticks...the whole shebang. It's comes in a little dispenser and after you pop the cap, you just put it on the back of the neck...There is only about 10 drops, so it doesn't run all over. I think it's great. Never nuttin on him...
Robert, that's just my kind of drive. I love seeing where you went. Go play in the big 'yard' that is the Nat'l Forest. We're lucky to have these pieces of wildness [can't call it wilderness] to visit. And it's fun to daydream a place on the rim. Whether it's a happening thing or not.I haven't been on near enuff little drives this year.
Feel the need to leave this de-constructed house pretty soon. Doing the kitchen cabinets etc has turned into a replace the crown molding, paint the ceiling, and paint the two walls that the counter el now runs along. used to be just the one wall had counter.
Tearing down the old built in shelving units to put up the new ones messed up the wall a bit and the ceiling a bit and one thing leads to another. and new molding all around.
I agree, old age sucks. big time. but willl not dwell on that right now. LOL
blooms....good luck with that kitchen...I redid mine several years ago and before it was completely done, 4 years had passed. In fact, I almost passed.....UGH. LOL
It was alway, One More Thing......
Hap
What would I do without all of you?
What a long day I have had. After going to the funeral home this morning, I went to my mother's church (where she had been a member about 40 years) to arrange for the pastor to go see her. He's off until Monday, except for Sunday Services, but his secretary said she's sure he will go Monday.
Then to the nursing home, to talk to mother and tell her I love her and it is all right to go, and if she does, this is Goodbye. She actually turned towards me as I talked, tried to open her eyes, and after I said she had permission to leave, her whole body visibly relaxed. Kissed her goodbye, just in case.
Then I went to the nursing office to sign all the papers to stop meds and not take her to the ER again, just keep her comfortable with morphine and adavan if necessary.
I was all the way down the mountain an hour or more when my cell phone beeped. it was the hospital. They could not find my Power of Attorney to attach to the orders. So I had to drive back up, and go to the county courthouse in Boone where it is filed, get a certified copy, and then drive back over to Blowing Rock to the hospital with it. I didn't get home until an hour ago, very, very tired.
But it was the right thing to do, and my stress has lifted a little.
Thanks to ALL of you for your prayers and concern. I really don't think it will be long, and it feels peaceful now.
Darius, my heart goes out to you. It's so hard. Be assured that you have done the best for your mother, and she is resting easy because of it.
I'm not feeling chatty tonight, so I'll catch up later.
Darius, I know that this has been a stressful several days for you. I am glad that your mom seemed to respond to your goodbye. Some where in her sub conscious she is concerned to leave you. Telling her it is alright has probably taken a load from her. Mothers always worry about their children, no matter how old the children may be. It is just a God given instinct. Sorry that you had to go back to get the paper work sorted out. But crossing the t's and dotting the i's is a priority of those in charge. Rest now, and tomorrow, please let us know how you are doing with the gall bladder. I'm thinking of you.
My heart aches too much for anything else but, (((((HUGS))))))
Hap
((( ~HUGS~))) for Darius.
I'm glad you let us know how things are going with your Mom...but I'm more concerned (and relieved) that you fell a bit better after seeing her. I'm glad you're home safe and sound. And I hope you're able to rest now. You've certainly 'done good' by your Mom...and I know she's relieved too.
Robert, that's a beautiful place you were driving through. I don't blame you for stopping to check out the properties. DH and I have done that many times in the course of our nearly 42 years...and several times we relocated because of a 'drive'. :-D I think that part of our lives is well past.
Blooms...those "everything leads to something else" remodeling jobs are 'par' for our course, too. For instance, I wanted to move two new trees I planted this spring, to do that DH thought he should build the privacy fence (Finished now...but not painted) which led to another spot to put a another garden, which led to building a matching fence between the house and garage (...it's almost done, too) which is now causing talk of...well you get the picture. LOL AND in the middle of all those projects, DH is now ordering a corner jacuzzi tub for our master bathroom.
My DH is one of those guys that when you "talk" about it, the next day it gets started. Doesn't leave much time for planning or rethinking, let me tell ya. I remember the time many years ago when we remodeling...turning two bedrooms on the end of our house into a large family room. One night we were talking about putting a fireplace in the center of the outside wall. He drew a picture of it on the wall...the next morning I got woke up by a sledge hammer coming through the wall where the fireplace miraculously appeared by late that night.
Moral of the story? If DH ever DRAWS on the bedrood wall...sleep on the couch! LOL
We got a little over 2" of rain during the past 2 days and maybe there's a little more for the afternoon. My flowers and grass are loving it! The cooler temps aren't hurting my feelings, either! On the downside, we *are* getting more mosquitos than we've had all summer. But I've got extra repellent and a lot of things I want to get done, so they won't drive me back inside, just yet.
Well...you all have a great day.
~julie~
Darius - been thinking of you - and hope you'll take some time to get some rest now that you're back home. Please keep us posted and know that all of us here are thinking of you.
Wonders of wonders - crashed desktop computer healed its self! Wouldn't boot last week - and just now - it's on and running. Very strange...but - I'll not look a gift harddrive in the mouth - so to say - LOL.
Not got any plans for the day - DH is working and I'm being lazy.....so there - :->
Everyone have a great day!
m.
((((((((( Darius)))))))))
Otherwise Nowt! :>)
My son says - "Last week you weren't holding your mouth just right. The ghost in the machine insists on total abeyance to its demands."
On the other hand sometimes it just looses interest and goes off somewhere else and leaves ya be.
Julie send DH my way!! My DH is a s-l-o-w starter. He has to think and think and think before he makes any moves - then he moves slow too!! Things are always done perfectly, but just getting there is a real trip!! Plus that , whenever I ask to do/change something, the first response is always NO - I've learned to let the no rest for a while and when it is his idea, things get done. I tell ya tho, I have had to wait long for some things!! If he wasn't so good in so many other areas, I would have given him the boot in the arse long ago!!
Cloudy, sticky and gloomy here today. Wish it would either rain or clear up. New DIL is doing a belly dance show for a local festival. We went and saw her do it last year and am hoping and praying that she doesn't ask us to go this year. A little of that goes a longgggg way for me. The only good thing is that they sell elephant ears..LOL
We are still plagued with japanese beetles - I use a bug spray daily and it does slowly kill the ones that I hit, but a new bunch just takes up residence soon. I want something that will stay on the leaves and kill any that land there. Anybody got any ideas?? I am desperate... My poor hibiscus looks riddled and the flowers are at least 15 inch in diameter.
I have a short brug that has such huge flowers on it that they cannot open up - they are dragging on the ground. I've never had one like it. Wish it would grow up a little!
Darius, as I sat talking with my mom yesterday, I thought of you. I need to really treasure the times I have left with my mom. We enjoy each other so much. I need to make work of spending a whole day with her next week. We get to laughing so hard that we wet our britches. That causes even more laughter!! LOL
Gotta go burn all the years checks and income tax stuff I cleaned out. I now have a complete dresser empty!!! But my bed is loaded with stuff to find places for. I think I just move stuff from place to place!
Sarv...your last remark about the bed full of stuff to find places for reminds me of *me*. But I'd probably just end up *stuffing* in *back* in the dresser! LOL
(Oh, and just a note from something I remembered from the last session. "Tool & Die makers". Yep! Hubby was in that profession for many years, too. The family owned company made the majority of hose clamps for the Auto industry up until the owner died, the wife sold the company to a huge corporation...and business quickly followed in the steps of the owner...it died, too!)
~julie~
Juli... ;)) good word choice there. and how it goes anin't it.? /;-))
family owned companies are pretty good fodder for the huge corporation. Altho that one family owned company did just get bigger and bigger until it became the one to set the standards we are all having to live with.
Me, too, on the piles on the bed. LOL haven't seen my bed in months. Or bdroom since this remodel stuff started. I'm using the 'guest' room. My room has the boxed, stacked and tossed in items that belong in the kitchen or bath - that were hastily packed /or not/ when the demolition took place while I was gone.
Here's a pic of a small section from just inside the doorway.
Blooms, it looks like you have a lot of work ahead of you !
Maria
Blooms...~LOL~ Don't feel badly about all that "stuff" stacked in your bedroom. I had a "room" for myself when we had a cabin on the river. It was used for my computer *and* my sewing room. You gotta factor in that I was actually using the room...there was *barely* room to walk into the room and you certainly couldn't 'change your mind' once inside. (I know how you feel! ;-))
~julie~
Wow Blooms - that just about tops my mess! Sad to say, but I have three bedrooms like that - good thing the kids moved out~~my winter 'to do' is to clean out and organize bedrooms and closets. I did it pretty well the year I first retired, but somehow things never stay that way.
Mom and dad are coming out to go Chinese with us. It was dads BD last week and i kept saying "when DH comes home from work, we have something for ya" - didn't really have a thing. Think we will just pay for their dinner out. I am out of ideas of things to get him - just got him a gift card to Lowes' for father's day. Hope he doesn't think it is too cheap! Oh well, when your 81, what more do you want besides good health!!
My bed is still loaded with junk, but DH did burn two huge bags of junk - all gone now!!! I am tired of working on it, so I will put it off until tomorrow or Monday. I am always jealous of people who start a job and work at it until it is completed. My whole entire house is full of jobs not completed. I get side tracked way too easily.
Time for a garden walk - there will be snow on the ground way too soon...
Where is everyone?? Still in the sack??? It's 10:41 am - get up= rise and shine!!!
Dh made a huge batch of blueberry pancakes (you'd think we were feeding an army) There is a ton of leftover batter- pull up a chair and he'll fix ya one.
Folks and us went to the chinese joint last night. My mom thought she was paying, so they ordered big meals and appetizers -DH and I chuckled to ourselves, because we planned on grabbing the bill. My poor mom was so flustered - she kept digging in her purse and pulling out $$ to give us. We told her a zillion times to zip the purse shut and be quiet!! She kept saying "I'm gonna get back at ya for this" (like we had done something wrong!!)
Well bedroom that I tore apart , remains torn apart. And tomorrow I am going to the next town over for a visit to the phaltzgraff store - having a sale and I need some pieces. I really don't need anything, but feel the need to part with some $$ to keep the economy going. LOL
I have been fighting all summer with japanese beetles - tried ortho bug spray and it worked ok, but they were back within an hour. Got out immunox and man is that stuff great!! Sprayed last night and this morning, still no new beetles. I worry that it will have consequences with the bees however.
It was cloudy all yesterday so I got out a big box of pics and decided to label the people in the pics. I could kick myself for not dating them when I developed them.
Well, I hope someone wakes up and drops a line or two here- it's lonely. DH is on his first snooze of the day...
Hi Sarv...I'm here (Sort of). Glad you had a nice evening with the parents. (They'll get over the idea of paying you back. LOL)
I've been sitting here staring out the window wondering whether or not to click "purchase" on a couple of Hosta orders. My north-side border garden needs some background to break it apart from the brush and trees behind it. I'm thinking of getting some HUGE blue hostas for the background...and a couple of BIG chartreuse to give the area a litte 'light'.
Anyone here have any suggestions on varieties? I'm thinking 'Blue Angel' (maybe 4 of those) and 'Choo Choo Train'. They are both listed as fast growers...and that's what I need right now. During the past couple of overcast days, I came to see those 'yellow' plants as quite the attractive substitution for real sun in that bed.
In case you haven't figured it out already, I'm trying to do as much as possible in the way of planning, planting, and remodeling (garden-wise! LOL) as I can while the plants still have a chance to adapt...*AND* so I can get a little relaxation when next spring rolls around. ~grin~ (...and a BIG sigh of relief!)
The north yard is looking great now that DH has the fence up and we transplanted a few things near it. Even *he* likes to sit on the patio now! THAT is an accomplishment!
Well, I'm off...I have some more transplanting to do...and a small bed to dig up and amend, then edge it with bricks.
See y'all later!
~julie~
At last! The shingles over the garage door are finished. All it took was one tier of scaffolding, an 8 ft step ladder,a 16 ft extension ladder, tools and a bundle of shingles. One of those "I can do it next weekend" things that has gone on for over a year.DW went to the cabin with 'the girls' for the weekend so I had the opportunity to make a mess and get it cleaned up while she was gone, my favorite activity. Easier to beg forgiveness than to ask permission, so someone once said.Pruned out 20 ft of mint along the side walk next to the garage and cut the lavender way back. All 'figged out' from overindulging in fresh figs off the tree,in conserve, and several other ways. It happens so seldom in our zone that I have been known to go a l;little nuts, and it isn't even a full moon.So now after a rest and perhaps lunch I'll mow the lawn, play with Tinkerbelle and spend an hour or so in the shed working on some stained glass projects that have been languishing for the past year. Some people have said its a good feeling when a job is done, if that's so then I have a LOT of good feelings if all my undone jobs ever get done.Well it keeps me away from the soaps on morning TV and out of the Bingo parlors.
Hey Julie, I was amazed when I looked at the Hosta thread in the Plant Files.Never knew there were so many varieties.Show some pics of what you choose.Five seedlings of one variety out of the six hosta varieties I planted this spring are surviving.I labeled them with an envelope number (dumb) and have lost the envelopes so I don't even know which one it is.Honestly, sometimes I wonder how DW has put up with me for all these years. Off to a light lunch.Maybe a fig wrapped in Prosciutto, some Brie,a couple stuffed olives, rye crisp and some Earl Grey tea. Hope everyones day is as as mine.
Ah, Balvenie, that kind of lunch I could go for, yum.
Maria
Yeah, me too!
HI Robert...that lunch sounds *really* good to me. (Love those rye crisp crackers!)
I know exactly what you mean about the huge number of named hostas out there. That's what was giving me fits.
I got way too impatient with trying to fig-ure (hehehehe) out which hostas to buy and just decided to go with my first instincts and the first company that I saw a GREAT reference to in the Hosta forum. LOL
I bought 4 'Blue Angels', 4 'Blue Cadet' and 2 'Choo Choo Train'. I bought them from Hosta Farm and, with shipping, only spent a little over a hundred dollars. (Shhhhh....don't tell DH...he'll *kill* me! hehehe). The neat thing about the shopping trip was that within less than half an hour, I got an email from Duck & Greta telling me my order had been recieved and would be shipped out tomorrow! WHEEEE! I told them in my comment on the order that I'd learned of their company through the good ratings at DG. (I have to wonder if *that* made any difference. ;-))
At any rate...I'm really excited about getting something settled for this north side bed. And I'll be pumping these babies FULL of vitamins, even if it means sharing my Centrum Silver with them. LOL
~julie~
Centrum Silver! I should have added that to my lunch too.LOL The Earl Grey was too old and the bergamot had evaporated leaving a rather stale bunch of loose tea.Should have used my fresh tea bags, now I know. The figs were sweet and wonderful with the ham even though my wrapping left a lot to be desired. The Hostas sound like winners.I'll have to look 'em up in the PF.I'd like to get some blues to add to the greenies under the rose arbor. Now its off to the lawn, then grab a beer or two and head for the shed. Have a perfectly wonderful day everyone.
Yummy...thanks for the snack, Robert. You set a lovely table! (And I think your 'wrapping' is just fine!)
~julie~
Ha Ha, Robert, how can you tease us like that but it is better than any cake or chocolate, yum
Maria
Edited to add, since I do not eat any breakfast I had a bowl of ceral wth heasf of blueberries, that tasted good too
This message was edited Aug 14, 2005 3:56 PM
Robert, you made me hungry so I started looking at some of the cookbooks I'm unpacking. I posted a great roasted bell peppers with caramelized garlic recipe in the recipe forum. I've made it many times, it's a winner.
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/537196/
Hey bal is that forstoria americana you are drinking out of? I collect that!! It was my mothers and she gave it all to me (all that she had as she gave many pieces away already!!) Your place setting looks beautiful to me - we are paper platers here... LOL Do haul out the china plates for visitors tho...
What a gorgeous day, not 90+ but sunny and a cool breeze compliments of Canada. Went to the State Fair yesterday and didn't buy a single silly gadget but had fun in the livestock barns, watching kids...baby goats...cavorting and showing off. Skipped the pigs, but saw some beautiful bovines competing for ribbons. Walked my feet down to the ankles....
This morning I picked up my GS's wife and we went to the Morning Glory Art Fair. People do some spectacular work...beautiful glass items, stained glass, big metal garden sculptures, lots of fabric arts. Went for breakfast after even though it was past lunch time. Amie bought a mixed media picture and I didn't spend a dime. She said it was really fun to go with me, so I think she's losing some of her reserve and getting to know me.
DS has sold five puppies and hopes she never has another litter of nine! What a lot of work. Between the paperwork, the shots, the dew claw removal, and clean up, she's been a busy gal.
I used to get big rounds of hard tack, which is what rycrisp was before they made it into little rectangles and seasoned it up. Can't find it anymore around here, but maybe some Swedish communities still have it. We loved hard tack. It's a little less hard than Rycrisp, but has a great rye flavor. Wish I had some right now to go with the chunk of Camembert my sister brought along last week.
I'm with you Sarv on the paper plate routine..unless we have company, or the food is too " wet". Not for lack of real china, I'm just saving my energy for pulling weeds.
Julie, I have about a dozen of those pale green and yellow hostas and they brighten up the darkest shady spots. They pop!! I have a couple of Emperors that look pretty bedraggled now due to the heat, and last week I clipped off all the flower stalks so they look better but not good. Clipped off day lily tops too, hoping they'll give me another bloom this fall.
Now I'm going to kill Japanese Beetles and pull up thistles before the weather takes a turn to broiling. Enjoy the evening.
After 2 long solid weeks of work (you know the getting up and leaving the house for money kind of work?) I finally got back out to the gardens today.
I weeded every single one of the beds, including crawling around under the canopy of EE's and root beer plants, fussing with spider webs and fleas. The seeds I planned on sowing have spent their time in the fridge and they now have been sown in 3 flower beds. I figure when the summer flowers get tired, the seeds I planted will come up and give me some blooms for the winter, particularly since these seeds are zone9 types of flowers. So I put in 2 different colors of columbines, some flax, verbena, poppies, babys breath, ice plant, and a bunch of others that I can't remember or pronounce their names.
So, no more weeding in those beds unless I can clearly identify the weeds.
I planted 7 hibiscus, 2 gauras, 1 morning glory bush, a clump of gloriosas, 8 jatrophas, an anthirum and took pups from some of my Alocasias in the shade bed.
I didn't get the grass mowed, but got my new warrantee replacement weed wacker assembled and ready to go. I have 2 pots of sedum I just remembered that I forgot to plant.
It was a very hot and busy day today, but I needed to be punished for sitting around playing spades on the computer all day yesterday.
I noticed today that the hostas on the north side of my Florida room are now back in the shade. The sun has changed its zenith and I don't need to worry about them as much now. Summer is on its way out and some cooler days are soon to come (cooler by S. Florida standards of course). The mornings are not quite as stifling as they have been the past month.
I think fall to me is the time of new beginnings, anniversaries and birthdays. Lots to look forward to and more time outside without the terrible heat and humidity. Not complaining mind you, because no matter where you choose to live, each place has it's down side. For me, fall is the season to be here.
Well, got those 2 pots of sedum to plant.
Molly
