i just toured pirls garden and one of my favorite shots was the long view shot from the neighbors viewpoint (lucky neighbors) anyway, i thought it would be fun to have everyone go out and take a picture from their neighbors yard to get a new perspective on your own garden. i'll start it off. this shot was taken from one neighbors yard and looking across to the other one. we had really tiny lots down there in the keys, we now live in central florida. a big empty yard, ready and waiting! debi

what do your neighbors see?
I hope you like visitors, because that pathway just invites someone to "come on in, there's more to see in here!" Beautiful!
I won't bother to take a pic of my neighbors view - the nearest one is 1/2 mile off through the woods! I can even go skinny dipping in the lake without worrying about anything except small, low flying aircraft!
I rent, and only have 2 tiny spots to use. Neither can be seen from the road, and we haven't any neighbors anyway.
I'm out in the country, so no close neighbors. But for perspective, I imagined I had neighbors on either side and in front and back. Didn't take pics, but this perspective has given me some ideas to work on.
good, thats all it's for! debi
nice shots meezers, loving that rock retaining wall, any monkeys in it? seriously, very nice. i like that trailer under the deck too. looks like you could haul alot of rock, plants, etc.your home is beautiful. wish i was that far along on this new one. i guess i will have to post "before" pictures. its pretty pitiful, considering what i left behind. but thats the beauty part. getting to do it all again. (i keep telling myself) debi
Trackinsand, that's a beautiful shot of your garden. It looks like a tropical paradise, and so inviting.
thank you zuzu!
Thanks, trackinsand, we're here just four summers, so we've gotten a lot done. It's nice to start with a blank slate, although I'd have given anything for a few grown trees, and fewer rocks! All in all the neighbors have better views than we do, there isn't a flower in sight except in our yard.
im with you, we have a row of cedars on one side. but thats it as far as trees. o for trees in this sweltering summer sun!!!
Yup, that's it, one line of scrubby weed trees and a mulberry along the lot line, this used to be a farming area, but I think they grew rocks. Bought DH a helicopter ride for Xmas last year and when the new garage is done, we'll get a photo from the air ....thinking of taking pics of the whole subdivision and selling them to recoup the cost!!! Except, they don't have much worth photographing!
o chops, excellent job! just wonderful. i can be your neighbor any day! is that red plant phormium by any chance? (in the shade garden). love all of your containers too. in the keys i had almost everything in containers due to saltwater, now that i dont have to worry about that i have to start learning to put things in the ground. but im a big fan of containers still. thanks for great pictures! debi
Wish I had a view like that!! I'll try a shot from Roger's yard if he doesn't haul out his shotgun at me...he can see all three gardens from there, the back corner, the ones on the north side, and behind the deck.
oh, im loving your yard. weve havent been here long enough to put a dent in the blahness-now im inspired. thank you!!! i think the plant is either a ginger, hedychium, or possibly ctenanthe. im leaning towards the ginger. its beautiful.
meezer, what a great present. the copter ride! how much fun is that? my DH brought me home a present yesterday. some kind of lint-free wipes to clean our SIX sets of sliding glass doors. i was underwhelmed with gratitude. LOL.
chops, please post that picture of the plant i like in ID forum-im dieing to know what it is-i want one!!! thanks, debi
oh, thats funny. im sitting here telling dh about your yard and how pretty it is and im pouring over the pictures of your place and you are there when i hit "home"! thanks, debi i just looked up maitland, you are like an hour away! isnt that a small world for you.
meezers - beautiful house! I love what you did with the retaining walls in the front. It adds a lot of dimension.
laLambChops - the tidy sweeps of lawn set everything else off. Sure wish my edges looked that good.
tgif - I'm with you as far as the back of our house goes. We're in kind of a weird location. We're the last house in the last cul-de-sac on the far outskirts of town. In the front yard it looks like another ranch house among many in a subdivision. Once you go around the back, though, there's a stretch of five acres. We could skinny dip in the pool or pond with no problem. We do have a local airport near us, so we get small planes, ultra-lites, etc cruising over. I wonder if naked old people would cause a crash? Can they see celulite from way up there?
a shot from the neighbors driveway...
I'm jealous. I've only got my 60' x 100' city lot to work with. If I can get some decent shots, I'll post some later. had the 3 yr-old grand-twins for a sleep-over last night and have to get back to them. ;-)
Ann
sstate, what a great start to the morning! that lake shot is just awesome. makes me homesick for old st.louis. im pictureing you and tgif and helicopters taking zoom shots! giggle.
chops, the flutterbys are definately neighbors too! cant wait to see the finished front yard. you have a way with turning ho-hum into hey! stop the car!
i guess i need to quit talking about the Keys and take some shots of this new house for ya'll. i put this picture on a different thread the other day, but i was messing with "paint" and squiggled in what i want the place to look like. we have a lake to the left and a neighbor to the right and the back beyond the cedars is a rental we own, so no bad neighbors there! we get to pick 'em! LOL
trackinsand - that's a really cool way to use Paint! I'll be using that for planning from now on.
yeah! i couldnt believe i had an idea that actually worked. LOL! it was fun, but i dont know all the ins and outs yet. every time i messed up i had to start all over. i think theres a better way.
Ok, It may not be Cinderella's castle, but I don't have a neighbor either... It is filling in & I don't think we'll ever do much more than plant trees in that "front 40" .
But I must say, so far, all the other pics, call me in for a cuppa. Your yards are gorgeous. And they show the love you've put in to them.
Thanks for sharing,
Abigail
Abigail- I LOVE that setting! Can I come there for a cuppa? I could just sit quietly out of the way and enjoy that view.
abigail, all i keep saying is , o,wow. look at those mountains, that winding drive, those redbuds-o wow. i hadnt a clue ohio looked like that. looks more like tennessee. o wow.
tgif, git back to sheyland.
Abigail - I'll second what trackinsand said...stunning view! Wow. Put on the coffee and we'll all be right over.
Coffee is always on.... I get hot & drippy from working outside, I go get the coffee & walk around drinking hot while hot!
We are right across the river from Huntington WV so we are still in the foothills.
Thank you, for your comments.
It's ssham's pond I am jealous of. We have no aeration & it is always green.
All the pics are just beautiful, Keep it up.
Abigail
Abigail,
What a view. Gorgeous. You mentioned being hot and dripping but your garden looks cool and inviting. Thanks for sharing.

My sweety, Skip, is the Pond Master around here. I just plant the flowers. It seems like he is always out there, and more often working than fishing. He has a fairly precise fish/weed balance that helps keep it clear, and uses barley straw bales to keep the algea at bay. He still has to treat it with chemicals sometimes, but he tries not to for the fish. There is a fountain that helps keep it aerated, but he doesn't use it more than he needs to because it causes more evaporation. Hot and drippy here, too. I'm staying in as much as possible today - it's supposed to get up to 101.
TRACK - get over to sheyland fast, and take 11 "D" size batteries with you!!!!!!! HURRY, the Energizer Bunny is in DIRE NEED!
And pick up a keylime pie on the way, as darius still hasn't gotten there (she got waylaid in the blueberry patch, so it may be awhile before she can get back to us there)
