Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Hi and WELCOME (and/or Welcome BACK!) This is session #20.

Here's my usual message...
"Our door is *always* open to anyone who cares to drop in and sit a spell, If you have any special goodies to share, just put 'em on the counter with the rest of our absolutely, positively, NO-cal supply! We'd Love to taste them! :-)"

Here's the link to our last session:

I have most of my garden planted now...and soon it'll be time for canning, freezing and making preserves. That is *if* I can stand up under the heat we're having in Wisconsin this spring/summer.

What have *you* got planned?
~julie~

Hey Lady,,,,,you are gooooooood.

(Zone 8b)

Hi all - its been amught warm here today so I haven't done much exept loaf and swim and loaf and swim... you get the picture!!
Hows everyone doing?

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Yeah, Hap...I've heard that before...like the last time I made a link work. HAHAHA

Carol...I wish I was there with you...loafing and swimming. LOL But I haven't done a darn thing useful except clean a mucky yucky deep frier. (That 'Dawn Disolver' is the *only* thing that would work on THAT mess!)

~julie~

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Sarv, I saw where you said your cat had clawed the screen so much. Well, I used to have that problem, but found a product called "pet screen" took all my screens down and put it in. It's been in about 5 years, and it still looks brand new. Well folks, glad all of you vented, we all need it now and then. I am sitting here by myself, as DH had to go to the hospital tonight for another sleep apnea test. Had DGD all week, but she has gone to her half-sister's for the weekend. DH and I put up a swimming pool for her today. Guess who will be the first to use it tomorrow? The temp today was 97. Don't think it will take long for the water to warm up. Well, I was just wondering how many other socially unacceptable people (smokers) are here? Some of the larger cities in Ky are going smoke free. (restaurants and such), but only by local ordinance. I rationalize by saying you can't live in the nations largest tobacco producing state and not smoke. DH used to smoke, but quit, now it is nothing but nag, nag, nag. I say there is nothing worse than a reformed alcoholic and a reformed smoker!! I am considerate though, never smoke in someone's home without permission, or in crowds where I know they are
non smoking. But if you come to my house, I may go to another room, if you object, but hey it's my house!! Well, going to sit down with a good book, and wait to get sleepy. Darius, what a stash of books. Used to buy and collect them, but got so many, now I just use the local public library. Gardening is my passion in spring & summer, and reading in the colder months.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

:-D Since I don't have a swimming pool...unless you count my DGD's tiny little 'foot bath'...I'm going to sit down and enjoy something absolutely forbidden to a diabetic. (Tsk tsk tsk...shame upon me) A great big root beer float! Then I'll do the 'socially unacceptable' thing (LOL) and go to bed.

See y'all tomorrow!

~julie~

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

AHHHHHHHH!!! JULIE!!! IT"S RAINING!!! Thank you thank you thankyou......LOL or maybe it was the rain dance.... at any rate, I left the sliding door open to catch a breeze since it cooled off this evening, and it rained all over the floor...so now the floor is clean, and the plants are all getting a good drink, and I'm going to enjoy my last of the day socially unacceptable, then hit the hay...and enjoy the sound of rain on the roof....

Boy does it sound good!!!

Nite nite

Sheila

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Sheila! Thank goodness you got some of your own rain! I was worried cuz I missed a few drops that fell outside that tarp I was catching them in. LOL

It's still raining here too...started just before I went to bed last night. It was a GOOD night with the gentle rain hitting the skylights. And I'm thankful for ALL who did that raindance. Or maybe we got it because I walked around for several days "pouting" at God and He just couldn't take it any longer. ;-)

I think it was only a couple of days ago that I saw on the news that we had been placed on the drought list..."slight drought" here, but I think you guys were in the "severe" area. Man! We *needed* this rain!

Yesterday I deadheaded some coreopsis as I walked around the yard and took notes on which plants were actually surviving in which locations. When the rain started up again I came inside cleaned that filthy deep fryer, did a hit and miss tidy up job to the kitchen and bathroom then sat on my behind playing Euchre most of the afternoon. I totally enjoyed myself. (~giggle~)

I hope you *all* had a great day and will have another one today.

~julie~

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

My goodness, Julie....people still play euchre? I played that up north 40 years ago and haven't heard of it in FL at all....Not really a game person, but as I remember it was sorta fun.. enjoy..and good morning all...........

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

I would dearly love to send yall some rain, if I knew how to do it. We have had more than enough to last for a little while.

We had a very good day yesterday. It didn't rain until late afternoon, after I ran the sprinklers. (I don't dare wash my car, that would surely have brought it down)

I finally decided it's too hot to grow anymore veggies out by the tool shed, so I got out and pulled the many weeds that had taken over. I moved all 38 potted hibiscus, 2 key limes, 2 pink pumellos and a sea almond seedlings over to that area.

I had received many perennials in trades that I had placed here and there until I could figure out what they liked. So I moved a bunch around to the spaces the hibiscus pots left. Sorted through my orchids, cleaned out the 3 deceased, weeded over there and in the sweet potao vine patch. Potted up about 25 smaller seedlings and put them outside. Found places for some other trades I had and of course did the daily mango clean up.

It's been raining for so long that the gardening chores I've done were minimal, so it was a very productive day yesterday. Today I have a couple signs to paint (for hire) and maybe a few other things to do in the yard. Give the dogs a bath, clean bird cages.

Goodness, how did I get so far behind?!!!

Well, time to call my sis, it's Sunday morning you know.

I'll check with ya later.
Molly
:^)))

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Good Morning Hap! Yep, Euchre is a northern card game for sure. Down in Oklahoma it was Pitch, Pinoccle, and Canasta. No one up here has ever heard of any except Canasta.

Hi Molly! Sounds like you got a *lot* of work done yesterday. It also sounds like you do a lot of gardening in containers. I've learned that until I know for sure where a plant is going to survive, I'd better put most of them pots. It's been so hot here that even my "sun-loving" coleus had to be moved into more shady places. ~ I have a dog that needs a bath...can I send her down to you? She's only a little thing...100 lb rottie...so she wouldn't be much trouble. :-D (She's 10 years old so she really doesn't do much except sleep. LOL)

Well...I got my stove cleaned before 8:30 a.m. (I'm still in my night clothes...but the stove is CLEAN! :-D) WHY can't stove manufacturers give the designing job to a WOMAN (with arthritic hands!) who has to *clean* the darn things??

Ok, back to the kitchen! I still need to clean my muddy "paw prints" from the fridge. (Why can't I learn that garden dirt *needs* to be washed OFF *before* I get my ice water?? :-D)

~julie~

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Good Morning!! Nice cool breeze this morning. Turned off that darn AC and opened up all the windows. Weatherman is saying a couple more days in the 90's - but it sure feels nice right now. Turned on all the sprinklers to give things a drink.

Going to another bridal shower today - last one- thank goodness! I am a guest at this one, so I will enjoy it! It is being held at a restaurant- much less work for the giver and I am sure the $$ is about the same. I will need to remember this if I have to give another.

OH NOOOO - huge tractors just went by - spraying something- what do you suppose it is - weedkiller??? It literally covered our gardens. The wind is blowing quite hard toward the gardens so they got hit. It couldn't be fertilizer could it. I am thinking the worse....it is a field of soybeans - anybody have any ideas???

Defo - that cat screen - does it look any different than regular screen. What happens when they stick their claws in it and rake on it? Is it something DH could install??

My mom just called- we rolled money yesterday. I had been saving coins for sometime and one of my chores was to get rid of it! We rolled $190. worth. She called me laughing as when she got home and took her shoes off, she found a quarter. I wonder what pack is short one?? I can't believe the bank won't stick it in their counter machine. They do have counters at our local one stop grocery store, but they charge you 10% to count it = No thanks... I do have a huge pretzel jug full of pennies. Next week when I am taking care of DGS, I will take him there and let him stick the $$ in the machine and he can use the $$ for our vacation the next week. We are going camping with 30 some others - fun ! (I'm too lazy to roll pennies...)

Gotta go read a couple of chapters of my newest book...(already had 6 oreos....)

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv... chances are the tractor was spraying Roundup, since Monsanto has perfected a soybean resistant to Roundup. So, they can kill the weeds and not the soybeans.

I sure hope that is not the case, and that they were just spraying fertilizer, but I'm not familiar with the practice of foliar spraying in huge commercial plots. Either way, not good for your garden.

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Julie, I am looking forward to canning jellies, jams and preserves. But all will have to be from purchased fruits unless I can find a snake-free area to pick blackberries when they ripen.

I make a whole line of diabetic jellies, jams and such that i sell in my member store and I'm anxiously awaiting South Carolina Peaches!

I also plan to order maybe 20-30 pounds of organic grass-fed soup bones to make and can soup stock. I love hearty soups in winter and prefer my own soup stock.

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

I agree, not good at all. We have a cornfield across the street. Last year it was soybeans. (For those that don't know, crops are rotated because beans put nitrogen into the soil, corn takes it out.) Some years we get a lot of drift and I lose many plants, some years none. I think most of the time it depends on the brain size of the driver - windy? don't spray!! Some ladies had damage over a block into town, the city hall got some complaints, so hopefully they will be more careful this year.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

sarv, the pet screen looks just like regular screen. You can get it with "sun block" which is sort of dark gray looking. My cat climbs on ours, and you can't even tell it. No claw prints or anything. Lowes or Home Depot carries it. Comes in rolls, that if I remember right does 2 large windows. If I can do it, most anybody can. It sure is worth the extra cents it costs, as it lasts longer and doesn't have to be replaced as often. Why don't you get some and put it on the one where the cat climbs most often and see, I think that you then will want to replace everything with it.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Julie,

Sure send the rottie down, I'll be all wet anyway. :^)))

Most of my plants are in the ground. The ones in pots are the co-op hibiscus, some tree seedlings, some other trees and bushes I'm growing from seeds. I rent this house and hesitate to plant any big items for fear they will grow too big to move when I have to transplant myself again. Most of the hibiscus will be sold once they reach a profitable size. I expect some of the other tree seedlings will be sold as well.

I am trying to replenish my member store stock and it's taking some time.

I'm also getting a little better at growing things from seeds, so I keep a supply of seed flats and 4" pots around to keep them in until the get big enough to go in the ground.

I harvested some stevia today and am trying to sun dry it. I have to keep taking it in and off the patio for the threat of rain. Can't wait to try some in my iced tea.

The list of weekend chores is almost finished. I got 3 parrot cages cleaned out and now for those signs I have to paint.............

Molly
:^)))

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Darius...I'd love to try some of that diabetic jams and preserves. Let me know when it's ready!

Molly, will you let me know how that Stevia works out for you? I'd like to plant some for next year.

Hey guys! Someone better send help! I'm CLEANING the kitchen!!!! And that means *everything* is coming down from the walls, off the top of the fridge and off the top of the cabinets! I took my pepper grinder apart a little while ago...cleaned it within an inch of its life. THEN when I went back to put it together again, one little piece had escaped. I was going to blame the cat (she's always stealing small parts and hiding them under the throw rugs! UGH!) but she was locked in the basement (accident, I assure you) so I must have dropped in the disposer. Ah geez! :-D

Now it's time to get the steam unit out and start on the floor. And *no one* better step foot in that kitchen for at least a WEEK! LOL

Later...
~julie~
P.S. Molly...I'll Jasmine right over...I hope she can find her way. hehehe

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Julie, look under the "Extras" tab on your DG home page, then "Member Stores". Mine is "Darius, the Closet Gourmet".

Molly, I didn't know you had a store, I'll have to look even though I have scant space for tropicals.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Mine is Molly's Folly. You can access it on my member page of favorite websites. I have no inventory right now, haven't sold anything since I moved and got a bad feedback rating when the website was down for "maintenance?"

Just not my year. Working on making it better.

:^))))
Molly

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Back from the shower (the one held in a restaurant) It was not nearly as nice as the one we threw. It was held in a dark dingy old room with beer signs all over - ugh. Dessert was cheese cake from the cheesecake factory - yum...Glad the whole thing is over.

Oh, if that farmer kills stuff in my garden, I will be HOT.. Is there anything I can do?? The wind was really blowing - stupid guy.... I just went out and checked stuff and so far nothing is harmed, but I am sure it is too early for me to see any damage. The wind has died down now - you'd think he could've waited!

Nothing else new here- I'm not making any dinner - ate enough to last me all day....gonna sit and read a bit and probably snooze...actually I am kinda bored!!!

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Molly, How come I can find your via the link on your homepage, and NOT on the SCIF store listings?

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Darius,

I have asked Dave in the Store discussion forums and await a reply. I suspect it may be that it's not shown because I have no inventory.

Looking at the existing list, every store has at least 1 item.

I remember a time when a store was on the list even when it was under construction. Recently my store site was offline and I picked up a negative rating from a non-subscribing member because of it. It was during the time when Dave was switching servers I think. Unfortunately Dave cannot remove the negative and the individual who put it there is not inclined to amend their comments.

It's funny, since I haven't had any plants to sell, I haven't spent any time there so my awareness level of the site is much reduced. Hopefully that will change soon.

Molly
:^)))

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Yup Darius,

At the bottom of the member stores lists, it says you have to have products to be shown. :^))))

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Ahh, Molly, so it goes.

My store is pretty slow but I also do not advertise it.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello everyone. I'm back from my weekend endurance ride in Idaho. We had a great time, finished the 50 mile ride in about 8 1/2 hours in 23rd place out of 38 starters. After the ride we had a potluck with a spud bar (Idaho is famous for potatoes and the ride was called Idaho Spuds). The spuds were baked, cut in half lengthwise and the table had all the fixings for them plus salads, finger foods, chili and desserts provided by the rest of us. Quite the feast for hungry riders!! I porked out and was hungry again at breakfast time. The drive home took about 4 hours and I watered my vegie garden before my hubby took me out for a late lunch at the Chinese restaurant. Ummmm, good!

I'd better get outside and see what else needs water and pull a few weeds. See ya later.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

I found some gladiola bulbs, and oriental lily bulbs that I had bought and forgot about. Went ahead and put them in the ground. Don't know if they will do anything or not. Also put out 6 yellow tomato plants. I also planted dahlia bulbs about a week or so ago, and amazingly they are sprouting. Then finished trimming shrubbery around 2 sides of the house. Included in this was barberry and boy do I have the thorns to prove it. I was even wearing leather gloves and still got some in my hands. MaryE the spud bar sounds so good. Baked potatoes are one of my favorites. I will put anything on them. Also picked the first green beans tonight. Will put them on first thing in the morning, boy I can't wait. They always taste so good.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Scratch, scratch, - just got back in from my garden walk (in a shortie nightie too) and the mosquitos had quite a feast on my legs and arms. That'll teach me for not wearing something that covers more of me up! But it is hot already!! Might be an AC day here in Mich!

Oh, spud bar, that sounds delish - nothing better than a big one topped with sour cream, cheese, bacon, onions and tomatoes!! Makes me hungry just typing!!

I've got a red lily in the midst of pink ones - the pink ones have been in the same place for years. Now how does that happen?? I have a real hard time pulling plants, so it shall stay.

I told my farmer neighbor about the field spraying and he said it was roundup. Oh man, I wonder how long it will take before I see any damage. He has a patch of pumpkins about three feet from where they were spraying. He said they collapsed and died last year and he didn't know why - I think we do now!! If I knew who was driving that tractor, I'd give him a piece of my mind...how irresponsible...

On that note, I need some breakfast...

Oostburg, WI(Zone 5b)

give it abouta week, then you'll know for sure.

Dh and I went on an afternoon drive down to Gavin's Point Dam in Yankton, SD. Took a pic of my least favorite bridge in the US. (so far - lol) When you're in a truck, you sit so high in the air, the sides are only the height of those regular height cement barricades in construction zones and I bet they'd never hold a truck back! You can see how the two lanes are stacked one on top of the other.

What were they thinking when they built that bridge?

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Good Morning Everyone!

It's going to be a HOT one in WI today. They're predicting anything from 95-100°. Your southerners might be used to that...but it's totally 'melting' for me. LOL (and to think I grew up in OK where 100° was nothing!)

With all the rain we got this weekend, our humidity levels will be suffocating...talk about a GREENHOUSE! :-D

Darius, I never knew where to find the 'stores' on DG... just goes to show how 'with it' I am. LOL Thanks for the info...I'll check it out.

Molly, did you get your signs finished?

Mary...oooooo....I like the sounds of the 'Spud fest' too! Sounds like you had a great time.

Sarv (hehehehe) You really *need* to get dressed before traipsing out into the garden. (Ask me how *I* know!) Those little bug-gers can draw more blood than my doctor! And when you add the black flies you can come inside looking like you have the MUMPS *all* over your body! And as for that sprayer...boy would I be ticked off! Around here all I have to be aware of is the stupid guy that does the mowing along the DNR road next to our house. They mow *everything* down and leave the most dangerous 12-14" 'spikes' in their wake. Not a place to let little kids run!

Dcat...sound like you did a lot of yard work this weekend. Thank goodness I don't have any bushes or shrubs that need tending. It's a sure thing they'd *never* get done...especially if I had to deal with thorns! (I hate deadheading my climbing roses! hehehe) Green beans...wonder how long it will be before DH tells me "It's time to can the beans." This is the first year we've grown pole beans that don't have a "one time" harvest. In years past, I could always count on canning the week of July 4th. (I'm hoping that I won't *have* to do it THIS week! LOL)

I don't know what I have planned for today. I got a LOT done yesterday but I didn't get it all done. I still have canisters and apothecary bean jars that need to be emptied and run through the dishwasher. Then there's washing down the cabinets and cleaning out...oh, you get the idea! But at least the kitchen FLOOR is done. That little steam 'shark' makes short work of the doggie feeding station not to mention the 'doggie snot marks' on the sliding glass doors (yuck!) My kitchen resembles the way it looked when it was new (only *2* years ago!)

I guess I'll get my clothes on (see Sarv, I've learned *my* lesson hehehe) and go outside to see what's happenin'. OH...(thinking about my lilies) I planted a couple of bags of mixed Lilies I got from Spring Hill last fall. I swear every single one of them came up...and talk about drop dead gorgeous! WOW! I got lots of pink ones a couple of deep red and a white one so far. That 'grab bag' was great bargin for me. I may even do it again this year. ~grin~

Later,
~julie~

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Julie,

Nope I didn't get the signs finished. But today is the day. The job I was supposed to go out and do today, the mahogany stain on the banister is not dry yet, 4 days later.

So setting up a spray area in the gym now to paint the signs. Dogs didn't get bathed yesterday either. Maybe today, poor things.

Cleaning lady comes today so I'll go in the gym and work on the signs while she's here. I talk too much and distract her from her work, oh what the heck, we need to catch up anyway :^))))

Getting some new ideas to starting some plants, cuttings, seedlings to get my store back up and running. When all these daylilies start multiplying some more, I can sell some fans of those.

Okay, I'm getting re-motivated now..........

Molly
:^)))

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Send that cleaning lady over here and lend her the Shark.....I could use some intensive clean up, what with spending all my time outside playing. Could use a paint job in the living room too, but with these high ceilings I'm not about to tackle it. Spud fest sounds like just my speed, love baked potatos with all the good stuff on them.

Watched a dvd GS lent us last night, "Supersize Me".. Sarv, go rent it and you won't touch "fast food" for quite a while. The guy who did it, ate at McD's for a month straight, and doctors kept track of his cholesterol etc. You wouldn't believe what the results were. I had an intense craving for a real salad immediately afterwards!!! Even their "healthy" items have huge amounts of fat or sugar. A lesson for us all. I'm not fond of McD's but I fall right off the wagon when confronted with ice cream.

Julie's right, it's going to be a blister today. Yesterday was plenty hot after a somewhat cool morning but by noon it was right back up to the 90* mark. We got a brief thunder storm around 9, which knocked out the cable for the night but it was back up this morning. DH is supposed to golf after work today, so I'm not planning anything for dinner, there's leftover chinese if he's hungry.

Dcat, I'll bet those bulbs will come up...this spring I found some dahlias that I "put in a safe place" two years ago last fall.....and figured I might as well toss them in the ground, nothing lost if they don't come up.....one has emerged and looks pretty healthy. Too bad it's competing with a tomato plant and I haven't got the heart to move either one of them.!! The deer around here love those yellow tomatos!! They take a big bite out of each one before they figure out they aren't apples. I had some of the nice little yellow pear shaped ones last year, like eating candy. And were they prolific, we couldn't eat/donate/pick them fast enough. Thought they might self seed but I don't see any.

My beans are nice and big but no blossoms yet. I have some red stemmed swiss chard that's doing nicely, and one tomato plant has a tomato about the size of a peanut M&M. Told DH I would share it with him. Other stuff is looking very happy after a nice big drink of rainwater.

Kooger, that's a scary bridge! I don't mind that kind when I'm in my car, but I hate to cross one like that in the truck, it always looks like you could go right over. The sign is funny too. I'm attaching a photo I saw yesterday ....unhappy grain farmer....!

Mary, you are the busiest person I know ! You really make me look like a slouch! Painting and riding and planting and so forth, while I sat on my .........
chair and finished a book!! LOL

Molly, tell us when you get some lilies listed in your store, I'm looking to add some and I'd love to get them from you. I have only those "ditch" lilies, and a few of those Stella D'oros that everyone has.

I better get dressed and go out and chase weeds before it turns into a steam bath. Then I'm going shopping. Summer stuff should all be on sale and most of my shorts look like I got them from the rag picker. All my golfing friends come back from Florida with such cute things from those big sporting good stores down there, here the prices never go down much because there's no competition. And I'll be switched if I'll pay $40 or more for a pair of summer shorts!

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Good morning. Any goodies on the table?

M5, I'm quite sure the picture of the field was done by a computer putting the letters on to a photo. It is too exact if you look at the corners of the letters, etc. for a tractor to have done it, plus, there are shapes there that a tractor couldn't do. However, I agree that farmers should get more for their crops. The prices you pay for things in the stores in no way reflect what the grower got paid. It's something like 5 cents worth of grain in a loaf of bread and there are far too many middle men getting the profits while the farmers take most of the risks and do most of the work.

No painting here, I think that was MollyMc. She is all set up to do professional jobs and could do a whole house in the time I would take painting one wall. My house does need some painting, both inside and out.

We got some rain overnight, it probably didn't amount to much, I'll have to go out and scratch around a little to see how far it soaked in. It did rain enough to get everything looking wet. Maybe some of the weeds in the flower beds will be easy to pull, but I don't think we got that much, especially under a tree where they are the worst. Thunderstorms are in the forecast for today and showers for the next couple of days. I'll have to turn on the local station just to hear the new guy they have reading the forecast. He isn't from around here, he says we are gonna have shawrs instead of showers.

Bending and stretching will be good for me today since I feel a bit stiff. I grew some lilies from seeds I got from one of my plants last fall. When they bloom I probably will get a mixture of "how did I get that color from a red lily with a yellow one growing next to it?" types but it will be fun. They are in a little flower pot now waiting to be set into the ground after I get the flower bed weeded. I want to put them where there are no other lilies so I won't have to guess which ones they are. It's one of those jobs that will just take a couple of hours but has waited a few weeks already. I also have some white ones I started from seeds given to me by one of the DG people who lives in Tennessee so I have to make another place for those to keep them all separate. Patch needs to be ridden today too so that is also on my do list and sounds like more fun than weeding. Procrastination is an art!

Time to get moving. Have a great day and remember to count your blessings.

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

Kooger, I totally missed your post just above my last one. If M5 hadn't mentioned the bridge I wouldn't have seen it at all. LOL Man, that bridge is a piece of work! We have a couple here that have open grating instead of pavement. Those are the ones that scare the bejeebers out of me! I really don't like seeing where I *could* be if it all fell down. LOL (I *love* that sign! :-D)

Mary...you are a "for real" working fool. I'm glad I not in a postition where I'd have to try to keep up with you. I'd never make it! :-)

Molly! You have a cleaning lady!?! How *wonderful*! If it was me, I'd have to clean house before I could let her in. hehehe Seriously, I've always dreamed of having someone to do the 'mundane' for me. And I've often been told I *need* someone. (Hmmm....do you think that might be a reflection on my 'tidiness'? :-D)

I made it outdoors for a couple of minutes. I checked all the flowers and seeds...and even managed to pull a few weeds. (Mary, mine are easy to pull if you want to start weeding over here so you get in practice for home. hehehe). Then (thankfully) my DGD came over with a bag of sea shells she picked up on her Florida vacation a week ago. I told her not to buy me a present...just bring me back a rock or some shells. She gave me some real pretty ones. They'll be framed up in a shadow box and displayed with my other goodies from the grand kids. (I still have a jar of muddy water from our first visit to the Mississippi river. :-D)

Well...it doesn't look as though I can procrastinate any longer. That unfinished kitchen is calling my name. LOL (Hey...M5! I'll loan your cleaning lady that Shark if you'll loan *her* to me. ;-))

Marysville, WA(Zone 7a)

Morning all. Have to admit to having some pretty good weather here.Several days of nice sun up to high 70's, a bit of light rain.High overcast today with some sprinkling.Wouldn't want to be anywhere else, even with the dreary wet winters.Kooger. the bridge looks quite formidable, but one thing I noticed is the side-walls appear to be the Jersey Barrier material. It was designed to crumple the fender of a vehicle impacting it onto the wheel so as to prevent the wheel from allowing the vehicle to glance off into traffic. It is still a function of speed though, but it seems to have functioned in many cases. The hollyhocks are in full plumage now, what a delightful sight, and the other day I noticed a flock of poppies like I had never seen or planted before. Something from a trade or maybe NARG purchase. Granddaughters 8th birthday was fun. Son barbecued marinated flank steaks, had a wonderful mixed bean melange and all the trimmings. Now he's hanging out in Pittsburg for the week doing something for work.Poor guy has to travel all over the world at company expense.lol The Ceonothis in front of my window is reaching about 7 feet now.Have to shape it again this fall. They are so beautiful when in bloom, but as with so many things, are too short lived.Yesterday I got the last post and the two rails installed on the arbor fence. Now comes the tedious part of dadoing the 2X2 lattice every 12 inches and fitting them all together in a 10 foot long by 4 foot high pattern. Well a guy has to have something to do to keep him out from under foot. Now time to shower, dress in real clothes and head into town to do some Credit Union business. Hate banks, haven't done business with them for decades.Hope everyone has a great day, and the heat stays at an enjoyable level.
