Coffee and...Part 20! :-D

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yes, absolutely, warmed olive oil and a warm cloth will be just the ticket, and what the heck was sweet oil anyway? We always had it at home but I haven't seen it in years. We had clove oil too but that was for toothaches.

Ahh yes Molly, I remember those lean years all too well. I'm probably the only person I know who feels happy to pay bills.....because, now there is enough money, and I don't have to choose between which utility I want to keep, the gas or the electricity. (Forget the phone, that was always the first thing cut off.... )

I'm sure there are people who have never had a period in their lives where the last paycheck didn't make it to the next, but, for those of us who have gone through it, you never feel quite the same way about money, do you?

DH thought the eggplant lasagna was all right, but said he likes the eggplant better battered and fried. But then, he likes almost everything battered and fried. Which is why I don't do it very often.....grease and salt!! LOL Not the ideal diet. Now I have to figure out something to make with the rest of the ricotta. Maybe some kind of dessert.

I need coffee. Back later.

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Thanks all for those ear ache tips. Did put sweet oil in her ear, held warmed wash cloths over it, and gave Tylenol. But by 6:00 she was screaming. I called ex DIL, and told her. She made a Dr appointment for 1pm today. She is prone to these infections, and we thought maybe a visit to Dr was the best approach. I looked on the sweet oil bottle, and lo and behold it is nothing more than olive oil!! Hope I don't have to deal with this again, but if you are out of sweet oil, use olive oil. We are having a rain shower for the first time in more than a month.!! I didn't even have to do my rain dance. Just left the windows down on the car!! Sure hope we get enough rain to help. We were just days away from being declared a drought area. DGD is supposed to call when she gets home, I will let you know what the Dr. said. Thanks again for the tips!!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

I really feel for that little tyke....I remember an ear ache that I had went I was about 12...I thought that that the side of my head was going to come off....please let us know how she is....

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

sarv, meezer, molly hap, thanks for your concern with ear ache problems with GD. Ex DIL just called and yep, swimmers ear, really bad on the left side, and right one inflamed, so I think we were just right to get to Dr. He prescibed antibiotic Zpack and ear drops, with 2 adult strenght advil. She is only 9, so it surprised me that he would recommend adult strength, and 2 at that. He said for the next day or two that the pain would be such that she needed it. Now next mission is to find ear plugs the silly putty type, so when she is better she can get back into the pool and NOT GET WATER IN HER EARS. Something seemingly so benign can cause that much troule. Thanks again. BYW, our rain shower yielded 3/10 inch. Better than nothing.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

So glad all is OK..poor baby went thought a lot...It's not good on mothers or grandmothers either....

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Whew! Unpacking even part of 70 boxes can really fill up a room FAST! I can barely walk through the LR right now and I'm only down maybe 15 boxes.

Strange things lurk in those boxes! HOW did a never-married woman with NO kids end up with 5 pairs of young kids jeans? OR 2 pair of men's 38/30 cordurorys?

Plus, I re-activated my Amazon account today, removing about 100 listings from Jan. 2004. Amazing that the bulk of them had depreciated by more than 3/4!

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

darius, what is an Amazon acct and I assume "books" had gone down 3/4s....how do you determine it...or am I completely off track and not making any sense...

Only you can answer about those 38/30s....ROTFL

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Hap, I have an account at Amazon.com where I sell used books. Have done right well with a few (in excess of $100) but the norm for me has been around $5. I was SO disappointed to see many I have to sell now have many others listed for under $2 and many, many for under $1. NOT worth my time to list and sell books for $1.

LOL, Hap... the pants will perhaps remain a mystery. I like men with small, compact butts, NOT size 38's !

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Darius- send them up here - DH wears a 38!!! He really should have a 40, but he swears he doesn't need it. Can you all say 'diet'!!!! Hmm, I think maybe you have a secret life!!

Hope the little ones ear is better. That darn swimmers ear hurts!! Glad she went to see the doc.

I spent practically the whole day in the pool with the neighbors, and their grandchildren. It was fun, but you should see the burn I have. I didn't think I would burn as I have a tan, but let me tell ya, I look like a lobster. Not good for the skin!!!

DH, DS an DGS all went to be fitted for tuxs. Guess the wedding is back on!! I am keeping my mouth shut. Can July 30th come any sooner?? Future DIL called me and she is worried that DS will not show up at the altar....I suppose I will have to have a talk with him....what a relationship

My folks showed up again at 11am - this is the third day in a row. They either show up at lunch or dinner...I find it funny...Their time is short on this earth, so I am enjoying them...

Still hotter than blazes here. Storms went north of us, but they are saying 72 by Fri. It will seem glorious!!

Too hot to cook, so I had cardboard pizza for dinner. I am sure the boys went out since they have been gone or 3 hrs now!!

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

Darius, size 38, my DH takes trips from time to time, don't think he said he was in NC though!! LOL. Had all kinds of drop by company tonight, didn't stay long. Won't have to water tomorrow, thanks to the rain we had today. Yall, have a good evening.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yay!! No more ear ache!! and the temperature went down to 80* today, doors and windows open for fresh air!!! What a relief!

Darius, I've had a drastic drop in book sales on halfcom too, I used to sell 8-10 a month, and now it's down to one or two, and I see a lot of the book club editions going for the price of paperbacks or less. If I have to sell a book for a buck, I'd just as soon give it away and pass on the enjoyment. Glad I'm not the one unpacking 70 boxes though.

Hap, where did you live in Michigan? I'm a yooper by proxy, my birth mother lived there for many years, but I was born in Wisconsin. The only place I've been in the lower part is Ann Arbor, at the University.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Not me......I came from Rochester, NY...my boys and father are still there and my daughter lives in Chicago...

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

M5,

That's me that lived in Mich. I was born and raised in Battle Creek. I still have family there so get back there every couple years or so. They come down to visit me more often than I get up there though.

I've lived in Florida since 1977 and during a weaker period of my life in '95 I moved back up there. I lasted from September to June. During all that time, there was only 3 "shorts weather" days. Well I skedaddled back down here and have been here since.

Glad to hear the ear is all better now. Imagine that, sweet oil IS olive oil. Hmmm, I always did think they looked alike, now I know why.
Good morning all!
Molly

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Morning All!! Raining here (thank goodnes!) and loud, mean sounding thunder with a few flashes of lightning. Rain won't last they say - just wetting the ground a little. Sun is supposed to come out and back to the 90's! But tomorrow it's down to the 70's...

I am unable to wear the upper foundations today - burn is killing me. Just threw on a baggy blouse with lots of patterns - that should be ok! DGS and I have three more bags of cans to take back today. It will give us something to do. He brought his fishing pole over to practice casting - cute kid. He's going on a camping trip with us for ten days. Should be fun.

Hope everyone is doing fine - gonna make that cheesecake when it cools off =

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sarv,

Aloe, Aloe, Aloe, directly from the plant.

It will make you smell like a bad case of the homeless at the grocery store corner, but it will make that burn feel so much better.

Molly
:^))))

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

That's the only reason I have an aloe plant inside, I think it's butt ugly but I've squeezed on a variety of owies and it works better than Bactine or any of those other pain killers...Fresh is best.
Big thunderboomers here last night and something went zztt!! in my computer but DH"s is ok so I'm typing on a keyboard on my lap.....next weather forecast like that I'm unplugging everything. Y'ad think I'd know better by now. Coffee maker set up went haywire too and I can't find the instructions to reset it, so I'm in for a fun day.

Sorry Hap, got you confoozed with Molly, comes of scrolling up and down too fast!! It's about the ony thing I do fast these days. Except run from yellow jackets.

Update on DGD ear. Ex DIL took her to Dr yesterday, gave antibiotic and ear drops, plus tylenol. She called me this morning said that they had been up all night, ear still hurting. She called Dr and told him that she was no better, went back in, sent her to Ear specialist in Frankfort. They inserted an instrument in her ear then drained the fluid, put in a temporary tube. Gave her another kind of antibiotic, ear drops and Tylenol 3 The specialist said that it was one of the worst infections he had seen. Have to go back Saturday morning and if swelling is down will remove the tube. Bless her heart she is still crying. Checked on her again about 30 minutes ago and the Tylenol has knocked her out. Maybe she can catch up on the sleep that she has missed the last 2 nights. This child has allergies has had tonsils removed, tubes in ears, has really been through alot in 9 years. You all just keep Gabriella( DGD) and her mom in your thoughts & prayers. Will tell you more about relationship with Ex DIL some other time. That is a real nightmare in itself.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Owie.....reading about that ear makes me cringe - hope the rest does her good and she feels chipper soon.

I am in a funk.....we have an upcoming 10 day camping vacation coming and I am running out of time to get things done and feel put upon (whine coming....)Babysitting for GS for three days, going out of town for a 4th of July gathering, cleaning cousins house, taking MIL to the doc, plus all the packing, washing, and making food etc. And guess who is sleeping in the chair (no names......) I am counting to ten slowly....Both boys decided to come up for 4 days, so I will cook for everyone - I volunteered, so I have no one to blame but myself for that one!! Plus 81 yr old parents are camping with us and they can't even open their trailer windows - so I feel that I should include them in the food stuff. Is this a vacation??? LOL

And would you believe I still have plants to get in the ground!!!!! Tomorrow....

Bought some Aloe jell to take with us. I completely forgot about the plants I have upstairs. Darn....the burn feels fine tonight, so I am over the worse part.

Tomorrow I'm taking lunch to a friend that had a plastic joint put in her toe- can you imagine!! What next?? She had her tail bone whacked off a couple of years ago. She gets the prize for the craziest surgeries!!

I know it will be a sleepless night tonight just thinking about all the stuff I have to do - I might as well stay up and get something done!!

Oh, dropped spaghetti sauce from my collar to the hem of a blouse. Immediately thru it in the washer, but it came out with the stains still on it. Anybody have any knowledge of how to get it out?? I have it soaking in cold water until my mind clears - it was one of my favorites blouses too.... darn. (that's the way my whole day has gone...)

Pleasureville, KY(Zone 6a)

sarv, do you have an urge to do harm to yourself? Sounds like that vacation is part torture. Since I have already been on vacation, kind of envy you, not of the work but the opportunity to get away. Just take a deep breath, and get done the things that really matter, go to the 4th celebration and enjoy yourself. I finished packing for vacation 1/2 hour before we left the house, and amazingly had everything we needed. Eat more hot dogs and lunch meat, don't cook unless you have to. Vacations are for fun and relaxation, not to fret and worry. When are you leaving? Go and enjoy!! Will be thinking about you.

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sarv, got any of that Oxy-Clean left? That stuff will get things clean even after you set the stain in.

Just make a paste with it, rub it into the spots until wet, leave it for a couple hours and then wash it.

Molly
:^)))

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Going to the store in a minute= gonna get that oxy clean stuff!!

I am always frazzled about something!!! Just part of my life. I actually do my best work under pressure, just would rather not have pressure at this stage of the game!!

Busy day - DGS is over again- taking him to DS to go fishing, then to the store for the oxy stuff and MORE groceries, then taking lunch out to a friend, then back home as whole family is coming for dinner. I think I need a job just to pay the grocery bills!! But I just took a garden tour and I have two brugs with buds on them...Yahoo!!! Also need to find time to add color to the hair and get a fishing license.....and and and LOL I keep telling myself that in a few years I could be in a nursing home sitting in one of those trayed chairs - wishing I could be busy!!

Take care everyone!!!

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Computer back up and running fine....what would I have done without my DG fix?? Gone into withdrawal no doubt. I would vouch for the stain removal via Oxyclean too, it's super. I use it in my carpet cleaner for cat icks that have the bile stains. I'm not sure that vacation sounds like a vacation....sounds more like our so-called fun camping trips when my kids were small. Same work as at home, only under worse conditions!! My idea of a vacation now is a hotel with room service and a pool. Not that I'd be seen in a public pool, but we're not going to rehash the bathing suit topic, are we?
Regarding clothing stains, I'm notorious for dribbling, smearing, and otherwise getting food on my front, which is why I look for tee-shirts with some kind of pattern on the front. I always thought that was why men wear ties..... (snort)

Nice and cool here today...cats are all frisky and being silly, chasing each other and playing hide and seek. I'm off to golf....again. Never did get that ironing done. Changing my name to Queen of Procrastination.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

sarv...that's no reason to rush there......LOL

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

Sarv, my mother always used Fantastic or sometimes 409 on stubborn stains.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

The "Queen of Clean" recommends using a bar of Fels Naptha, rub it on the stain and let it sit. I got her book when I signed up for a book club a couple of years back and refer to it often.

Chicago, IL(Zone 5b)

Fels Naptha....my goodness, so they still sell that....that's my grandmother' soap...LOL

So.App.Mtns., United States(Zone 5b)

They still sell Bon Ami, too. Stuff works great!

Muscoda, WI(Zone 4b)

D.cat...I hope your DGD is doing much better by the time she sees the DR today. That's a horrible pain for a child to have to go through. My DGD had problems with swimmer's ear when she was younger. They recommended that she always use ear plugs and after swimming use a 'swimmer's ear preventitive' drop. After we started using the drops, she had very little trouble.

Sarv...that aloe is *the* best! Ever since I had an accident (Pouring a pyrex glass pot of coffee over the shoulder of a 3 year old) I grabbed an aloe leaf and smeared that poor kid down with the fresh gel. Under the circumstances he would normally have been rushed to the burn unit. As it turned out, he didn't even have a scar. From my standpoint, it's a miracle "drug".

Well...the windows are open this morning and there is a terrible *cold* north wind blowing in. I hope it sticks around for a day or two before I have to close myself inside the house with the AC running at full blast.

I haven't been on DG since...when *was* it? Oh yes...Tuesday morning. The appointment went fine. I should have my new lenses ready sometime today. Then I go to get my driver's license renewed. (Oh what fun! LOL)

Still cleaning here. I wish I'd read the posts yesterday...I worked for the longest time trying to remove a greasy footprint (belonged to DS...and can't believe he DID it!) from a prominent spot in the living room carpet. I have a bucket of Oxy-Clean and never thought to use it! OH DUH!! Next comes washing windows...then I'll have to dust and wax the furniture.

I haven't been outside to see what's happening in the garden for several days now. I'm fully expecting that I'll have to MOW down the flower beds just to *find* the flowers. LOL

Better get going...ttyl,
~julie~

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sarv,

Didn't you buy some of the Oxy when you had to clean the white carpet? for the house and teen sitting you did? But of course, I could have you confused with someone else.

We do that over here frequently.

Welp, I'm off to the dentist this morning. After all these months, got that implant in for a new molar, it's healed to the bone and ready for a tooth. Actually I was down 3 molars on the one side, all in a row. So I opted for one implant and I'll have the doc make me an extra long molar, if he will. This will be the first time I have ever gone to the dentist with no fear of pain. All he has to do is get the shape for the tooth and put a crown on. No drilling filling poking prodding or nothing. Now I can quit chewing up the inside of my cheek with the teeth that are remaining. :^))))))))))))))

Then meeting up with Happy_1 and Artcons this afternoon.

Gotta get those nursery pots into the van.

See ya later.

Oh Blessed Rain!!!! We finally got about 1/4" last night....I know not much, but it seems to have "broken" the spell we've been under. Today it's very threatening looking - all cloudy - so hoping for more.

Nothing else much going on - just wanted to stop in and say hi!

Have a glorious 4th!

Well today was grocery shopping day. Shop for DM, DMIL and myself. Takes about 4 hours. Stopped by a produce stand got 2 tomatoes, new potatoes and yellow corn. Supper tonight will be fresh veggies. DGD is feeling better, her stomach is upset because of the pain medicine, but not in the severe pain she was in. Will keep you posted.

waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Yeah Hap they still sell Fels Naptha, but you have to bend way over to find it because it's always on the very bottom shelf with the other orphans that aren't big sellers. I'm shopping for one of those longhandled grabbers because sometimes when I get down, I can't get up..............LOL

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

Molly - I was the 'stain carpet' person - teens used it ( oxy) all up, and didn't follow the directions on the pkg, I could still see the stain - but much lighter. Went to the store and got the oxy stuff. I remember my MIL talking about Fels Napha too. Haven't seen it in a long time, but havent' really looked for it either! I'll treat the blouse tonight...

Spent a busy day - I'm pooped. Weather here has turned a 360 and I don't like it. It is TOO cold!! I have on blue jeans, shirt and sweatshirt and am still chilly. Can't it just stay 75!!

DGS spent his own $$ for a laser light thing -=he had a ball with it with the cats. He was warned that if we ever saw him aiming for an animals eyes or a person's eyes - it was gone - never to be returned. He is a rule follower, so I doubt we will have a problem with that. Cats are as exhausted as I am!

DH just brought in dinner, so I am gonna sign off and pig out...

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello again. Seems like a long while since I've checked in but really it was just a couple of days. Busy busy busy! I just mowed the lawn so I could water and am inside to cool off before going out to pull weeds. It's getting hard to keep up with the watering and will be like this for the rest of the summer, well, really into about October, then I just let it all dry up.

This morning I helped move cows, we will get them into the corrals this evening when it is cooler and sort them, then tomorrow morning take most of them up the road about 5 miles while it is cool. It will be a slow trip with a lot of small calves, they walk and eat, walk and eat, and mooooooo all the way keeping in touch when they don't know where their calf or mamma is. She's there somewhere but they don't always stay together so they all resort to the audio system. We had planned to do all of that today but there is a neighbor's bull who joined the party and he is reluctant to leave. He's romancing a cow and fighting with the other bull. Bulls are like the 500# gorilla (times about 4) they go about anywhere they want to go and a person on horseback doesn't impress them. They are also unbelievably fast! On the way up the road in the morning we will stop and put the whole works through another neighbor's corral (strong and high and they will hold a bull who wants out) then continue to the new pasture.

Dinner tonight will be a maccaroni salad with everything but the kitchen sink in it, hard boiled eggs, radishes, green onions, artichoke hearts, olives, cheese cubes, etc. Wish I had some ham to cube up and put in it. I wasn't thinking about that when I was shopping on Tuesday and I don't even have lunch meat that I could cut into strips. Oh well, I bet we will eat it anyhow.

This morning we got a good laugh. The neighbor has a teen age boy who works for him changing irrigation pipes. He was helping us with the cows this morning. He rode his bicycle from his home (about 6 miles) to work and we could see that he was wasting a lot of energy while we went out across the fields to get the cattle. Half an hour later he was sitting on the ground beside his bike with his tongue hanging out. He was looking for a little sympathy and asked us if we had ever ridden a bike without a suspension. (His has adjustable suspension and several gears). I told him that bikes used to all be without a suspension, shock absorbers and gears when I was riding them. And they had 3 speeds, fast, slow and push! He didn't say another word! It was hard not to laugh in his face but I supressed the giggles until I was out of earshot.

I'm old enough to remember Fels Naptha, and even remember how it smells. They still sell it here but like somebody said, it's on the bottom shelf. My grandmother used to grate it into her wringer washer, she also used Mrs. Stewart's bluing in the rinse water. She ran her hand through the wringer once, wrapped a clean handkerchief around it to stop the bleeding and provide some support for it and finished the laundry. She also broke her hip and didn't go to the doctor, it healed but her leg always stuck out to the side and was shorter than the other one. She was a tough old gal.

Time to get busy again weeding and watering.

south of Grand Rapid, MI(Zone 5a)

come on everyone- get up!!! Rise and shine!! Sun is shining!!

It is 51 deg. here - coooooold. I have the heating pad on my lap as I type. Steam(?) is coming from our pool - there goes the 83 deg temps to swim in!!

Have to clean and pack the trailer today and also gut the car. It is my catch all for junk and man is it a mess. We are taking it (car) down to a family gathering and I can hardly see out the front windows!

Still haven't treated that blouse - outta sight outta mind in my world! Well, 6:30 am and I need to get this body in motion!! Take care!

Archer/Bronson, FL(Zone 8b)

Sunshine? Sarv? You must have stolen it from us! Of course I know at this time of year you have about 3 more hours of sunshine than we do. But it is cloudy out now and I suspect we shall have another day of rain here.

Okay, treat the stains on the blouse and throw it in the washer and leave it til you get around to the next load. That way you don't have to remember later and find a place to let it sit til it's ready to wash. You let it sit until YOU are ready to wash.

I'm hanging out around the house for the weekend. Still have to work on those signs. I haven't managed to get fired from that job yet, but I am going to quit when it's finished. Another customer has been keeping me real busy painting offices downtown.

Funny story about funny people. Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday we were painting walls first, support columns second and doors and frames last inside a telemarketing office. We managed to go 2 days without having 2 shifts of 75-100 people each shift get any paint on their clothes. On the third day we did the balance of the columns and all the doors/frames. I stressed to the managers to tell their people during their meetings to stay away from the wet paint.

The first casualty was a manager. He leaned up against a column while Jeremy was STILL painting it. The next was a guy who went into the mens room and was told on his way in to watch the wet paint on the door. By the time he finished and came out, he leaned on the door frame.

The third and last (that we are aware of) was a woman who went into the ladies room (that door was a push-in door) Two coats of paint went on her right shoulder and hip and of course her 16" long fingernails did a job around the doorhandle.

I had been pretty patient through this whole job, smile on my face, resisting every telemarketers attempt to sell me a mortgage. When the woman did the last bit, we had to paint the door over again. I stormed into the Other managers office. "Ya know, I just don't understand it!!!! I go pee once all day long and here, 15 women go in that room in 15 minutes! Although there are private stalls, They can't pee with the door open and I can't paint with the door closed. We've been here for three days and everyone knows we are painting! I am not buying anybody any new clothes!" He agreed that the women use the bathroom too often. I didn't take the time to tell him the men were almost as bad.

So Jeremy and I chuckle at the people on that job.

Yesterday Happy_1 and I went to Artcons house and enjoyed a visit with him in his gardens. It was so hot, a period during the day we didn't have any rain. I was sweating buckets, sweat coming out of my ears and off my eyelids. Of course, I was wearing one of my Daves Garden T-shirts and when I left, it was just a wet rag. Oh how I wanted to jump in his pool, but I had to go to work at 3:30 and that just wouldn't do.

Okay, I think I see some sun out there now. I better get out and get productive.

Have a good day, and you know....I will check back in later.

Mary, I think people of your G'ma's era were a lot tougher than most people are today. I remember the old 'wash houses' back in OK when I was a lid. Funny how the smell of Fels Naptha and clorox bleach bring those memories flooding back.

Molly...there's just no figuring how some people just seem drawn to wet paint. (Silly people!) Glad your business is growing.

Sarv...I think you are the most social person among us. You've always got something going. All those parties, showers, and guests would drive me out of my mind! Not that I have very far go. LOL (Have a good vacation! And try to *enjoy* yourself a bit, eh?)

Dcat, glad to hear you DGD is doing better with her ear. That stomach upset is probably due to the pain meds they gave her. I know it makes me queasy too. But the induced sleep makes things a lot more bearable.

M5, I've been thinking about getting myself one of those long handled gripping arms too...but I'd be using it to do my weeding...not for picking stuff off the bottom shelf of the grocery store (I let DH do the shopping! LOL)

Not much going on here. My Daylilies are blooming like crazy, the Asiatic lilies are really surprising me with their show, I saw the first salpiglossis yesterday (Pretty petunia-like blossoms with a 'stitch-like' pattern on the petals) and my late planted castor beans are *popping* through the dirt! There are lots of things to look at, if only I could see something other than the weeds surrounding them all. ;-)

Guess it's time to get outside and water all my containers before the hot sun dries them to a crisp.

Hi everyone. I'll be busy today moving your hamburger and steaks to a new pasture. We had complications yesterday, but did get one bull out of the herd last evening. Things are calmer now!

The pasta salad turned out real good, and there is enough left for lunch! Since I don't really enjoy cooking it is always a blessing to have leftovers. Our son is coming out from town to mow thistles in the pasture so he and my DH will have the salad bowl empty by the time I get through playing horse and cow games. It's supposed to be hot today but right now is about 50 with a pretty good breeze. I've got the sprinkler going already and it's time for some breakfast.

Gotta run, see you later. Have a great day and remember to count your blessings.

Memphis, TN(Zone 7b)

Afternoon all! Well - got up first thing this morning and got out to do some weeding before it got hot. It was hot by 8 am! Didn't get finished but will do some each morning this weekend and hopefully - I'll get it all.

Well - the biggest news is we've talked ourselves out of ceramic floor tile for the downstairs. I've got probably 15 samples and found some good "truckload" deals yesterday. But we went to Lowes this morning and started adding in the cost of 1) leveling the floor in 2 places we know of 2) mortar 3) tile its self 4) grout, 5) misc supplies and 6) renting a wet saw.....and then we went back to look at the good qualtiy vinyl tile. And - that's what we've decided to go with. We already know it will not require floor leveling (cause we did it in the dining room and had the same problem). Not much prep work at all except pulling up carpet and cleaning the floors. And we have the cutter and everything we need - so all we have to pay for is the flooring its self. So - back to square one. DH wasn't totally convinced about the ceramic anyway....too hard underfoot and someday he might really want to do laminate or hardwood (once cats who ruined carpet are gone!) - and there's no way I'd pull up a tile floor after spending all the time and effort. Guess I'll get online in a minute as start shopping.......

Very warm here and hoping the rumbles I hear in the distance will make it to us....we need rain so bad.

Everyone have a good day - I'm going tile shopping!
