We were taking our dogs to the vet and were caught up in the traffic on the main road where they're repaving. Hot asphalt, hot day and sunshine! Makes me respect my father, the self employed roofer, and his days in the heat all the more! He used a hose to cool off and then would sit in the shade, with my brother, then return to the roof. He made it to almost 85 so I guess the exercise was great for him!

And my dad's name was Charlie and today my daughter came for a little visit and told me that she and her husband are expecting a "Charlie" in March. I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My DS Soaks his long sleeve white dress shirt / work shirt/ and wears it as portable swamp cooler and does the same with his work hat. Or his head when he's really in the sun he wears a large brimmed straw hat.

I wear a really beat up straw hat that started out bright pink and has faded to nearly white.... which'll tell you it protected my head.

Thanks Pati! I'm still thrilled and still cry tears of joy when I think about their dream coming true.

Gave my daughter one of the moisture retaining sweatbands so she can soak it in icy cold water (not the freezer) on the hot days.

Thanks, Judy. Yesterday I couldn't stop hugging her. Jack and I took turns. I sometimes wonder if kids, adult kids, ever realize just how much they're loved. Hugs to you and to all.

Humidity has dropped. It's a normal summer day - HURRAY!
