Same here Twyla!!! Of course stuck way back in the woods the only people I'm likely to see for days on end are the Postman and the UPS guy!!! I figure they've seen everything!!!

I've just been looking at snakes and I don't think DH knows for sure when he says Slim Jim is a Rat Snake. BUT I've ruled out all the venomous ones. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck

That snake pic gave me the creeps! I don't like snakes or birds. They freak me out. But I don't kill birds or anything- just admire from a distance. But one of my good friends has a snake AND a bird (and 3 cats and a dog but that's cool). She walks around with her loooong blond hair and that freaking snake twirled around her (he's a Boa named Sinbad) and a cigarette hanging out of her lips and Thor (the bird) on her shoulder. So I call her The Beastmaster. Funny thing is, SHE doesn't really like snakes either! Just hers, which she rescued in college when he was being tortured at a frat party. 18 years later she STILL has him and the vet said he would probably live to be 50. Just talking about that depresses her. Ha! But he better keep his distance from me or he will be on the business end of my hoe! Thor too if he flies up in my face.

Boy, I don't know it I would like to meet here in a dark alley......What does SHE do for fun...I'm almost afraid to ask???

Oh she isn't very big Hap... and she is really nice! I mean come on, she loves animals to the point that she rescued a SNAKE! And oddly enough she's a real homebody so you likely would not see her in a dark alley. I'm the one you gotta watch. .

Buns - Those wild colored snakes definitely give me fearful feelings!!!

I don't know Judy- he is white with orange circles on his cheeks and a yellow mohawk. I'm sure that's not really what that "bird part" is called but it's what I call it. :) He doesn't talk but he does whistle the OU fight song which always turns into Jingle Bells after a while. That part is really cute. I just don't like him to fly all up in my face! The other day I looked up and there was a bird that looked just like Thor in my oak tree! I tried calling him like I would a cat or dog but birds don't listen. I figured he got away from someone. Or maybe they just let him go on purpose. Anyway, it was strange to see a bird like that in my backyard! And the "family" is ALWAYS out. Sinbad does not have ot stay in his tank. Blah! I'm actually used to it by now. He just stays coiled around Nicole the whole time so it's fine. I spend most of the time out in her pool anyway so it's all good. :)

LOL! It's an 8' x 16' raised bed - all fenced in to keep out the critters! (But I guess I didn't need to do that since Sir PekeBoo is on guard!

I know I didn't need to make it so tall, but the deer fencing comes in a 7' x 100' foot roll, and I had the 8' tall highway sign posts leftover from a job, so I thought what the heck - waste not, want not! The area gets full sun from 10 am until about 8 pm, so I think the tomatoes will be very happy there - with lots of marigolds, peppers, and eggplant tossed in for good measure! Now I have to patiently wait for my %$#^%#$ veggie seedlings to GROW UP!

I should probably do that to all of my beds just to keep my kids, basketballs, footballs, cars and everything else that is magnetically attracted to the only flower bed in the area. Ugh!

OH MY!! I've had my laughs today. Thoroughly enjoyed the back and forth on this one until Judy's snake and the Coral snake or whatever it is called, showed up. I'm with Buns when she says the only good snake is a dead snake. They all give me the willies.

The front, center panel is not stapled down, so I can swing it open. We attached that end of the deer fencing to a piece a wood. The piece of wood has hooks on it that fasted to eyes on the fence post.

Needless to say, I can hardly wait to start planting out. Must be patient, though. We had temps in the low 30's 3 nights ago. Grrrr - I am beyond ready!

....we have to ask ourselves just how much these tomatoes, peppers etc actually end up costing us. Way more than the grocery store, but oh how much better they taste.

Sequee, you may have just given MSJen an idea, if she put the kids in the cage then she wouldn't have to worry about her plants or having to confine them to just one area.

It was dreaming of plants, fertilizers an watering that made me realize I needed professional help. I'm suppose to be dreaming of hot afternoons on a remote island with BigDaddy99, instead it's Brug blooms and sprouting seeds. I wonder how many years of professional help before I'm back dreaming about eBay bidding on sissy rhumba bloomers, instead of Datura seeds

Judy, i have come to the conclusion that there is NO hope for us. What fun would it be anyway if we were "just" normal folk? How boring would life be?
Think i could get away with putting my kids in cages? Oh wait, forgot one is already there, grrrrr.
I figure last year my 2 tomatoes and 4 crookneck squash cost me $259.95, give or take. By the time i rented the tiller, bought the plants, laid the plastic, got them planted, fertilized, seven dust, watered, aloe vera for the sunburn, 3 dinners out because i was too tired after doing all that, .........yup, would've been much much cheaper to just buy them, lol.
I keep thinking how nice it would be to have a gardener, but wouldnt that be boring? I love showing people, and having people notice, the things that i have..that I did.

they are pretty i would want turgoise (sp.) blue green if ever did put some on!!! ??..... i did tell my hus. was going to get capris and bright colors he said no yor old woman now and you have dressed all your life in navy blue or black.. so!!! but i had fun at wal marts tried on lots capris, bright blouses, and then left!!!! but i intend to get me one set -- i think.. so i just don't know- be old woman like have all my life that sucks.. besides i locked myselfd out got Jessica to crawl thru bedroom window after we lifted it up finally roting falling apart then 2 cement blocks fell hit my leg, foot, big toe on right leg yeah that leg... other one hit the left foot .. got knots got ice on.. broke skin 3 places one foot one other.. clumbsy i'm so graceful....ah well i have o be in all kinds pain to be alive guess...have great week end is there sell on panites i never liked color pink.. but who knows .. love purple...
