Great yard & house! I just ran across this thread this morning. Wish I had seen it before RU.
I might be able to plant my stash today. We have had terrible weather ever since RU. It has rained almost every day, plus very cold & windy. Sun is shining this morning, 35º. Brrr.
Some places got up to 6" of rain. Lots of flooded fields around, so farmers are way behind.

Here's my new place.....
I have SUN today & cool--out to dig....
brenda,
you have a beautiful home. i hope you know that all the other folks are going to have to hire gardeners in order to "keep up with the jones's". LOL especially now that there are 2 of you in the same neighborhood showing everyone else up. LOL
your doing a wonderful job. i look forward to seeing things in 2 years when they've grown and filled out. what a beautiful sight to look forward too. enjoy!!!!

Thanks, Bernie & Debi!!
Bernie - I've been watching all the cold and rain you all up North have been having. We are desperate for rain round these parts. Got a really nice storm about 5 days ago with 2-1/2" of rain but we are way behind. Hope it's not a foretelling of the future of Spring/Summer!
Debi - I've got so much still to do. Got sidetracked these past few days with family things and hope to get outside this afternoon. My house is a mess and I've spent today cleaning up, laundry and getting groceries....the domestic stuff. Hopefully gardening resumes for the rest of the week although (cross my fingers) they are saying some rain for Wed.
Brenda,
So glad I found your thread! Your new house and gardens are beautiful. I definitely have "big lot" envy. lol Can't wait to see pictures this summer when you have filled your beds. :-)
Thanks, Terrie!!! I'm not sure I can fill all those beds up by this summer. Next summer....you bet.
They don't have to be "full" to be beautiful. :-)
Brenda,
Just found this thread. Just great. Wonderful beds. Just think of all the space you have . Lots of sun for those lilies. Tons and tons of space to make lovely curving perennial beds along the drive for when you run out of space around the house. Can you install underground watering in Kansas or is that not normally used there?
Do you have a shady bed to use as a baby lily bed? I had to make a fabric roof to protect mine from the sun.
Inanda
I have nearly zero shade! There goes my plans for a hosta bed. LOL
I'm very close to filling up the existing beds in the backyard and need to move into the front entry bed but not sure what I want to put up there yet. The front faces East and you would think that I would get some shade there in the afternoon but because everything is so wide open here it's still in full sun at 2pm in most of the entry bed. I think it starts to get pretty shady around 3:30 or so. I'm starting to think I might put some of the cannas I got from Eyes' coop up front.
I've got plans in my head right now for a veggie garden out back behind the fence in the backyard. Irrigation is the next step. They have a sprinkler system installed in the front yard only (up to the front corners of the house) nothing on the sides or in the backyard. (Which might be a reason the previous owners hadn't added any flowers in the backyard). That will be coming up this Fall.
I also want to add iris and daylily and lilies in the sideyards in long beds that run the length of the property. In the front driveway circle I'm thinking iris, daylilies, summer/fall perennials and spring bulbs running the curve of the driveway with a large raised bed in the center.
Time and money as they say! LOL
And friends at the Missouri Round Up?
Brenda,
Lots of my hostas are in the sun. I'll make a list for you
