Coming soon: Davex Garden Box
Well, maybe iVillage can use it for THEIR press release....something tells me you weren't too far off-base with his reaction to the offer ;o)
Well, I didn't read all of the above responses, but I bet that since it's now April 2nd, all of the hardware has been sold (through pre-orders) and I won't be able to purchase the equipment necessary to get onto Dave's Garden until 2050? (I'm sure the equipment manufacturer will be operating 24/7 to fill the pre-orders so that in 2050 equipment will be available to the rest of us.)
Isn't that just the way things go? I'm always a day late and a dollar short. (o:)
Hmmm...well, I guess I'll be banished to GardenWeb for the rest of my days...(hanging my head and walking away very slowly (o:)

Check it out... without even getting mine my computor went straight to DG this morning... how'd you do that Dave??? ~Blooms
I think my favorite was 2002. My husband and I were hysterical with laughter.
Hey Dave,
My DS is out of work and needs a job bad. He's a Linux guru and could learn davex in an instant. Can he do some manufacturing for you????? My DH and DS have enough computer hulks and misc. parts lying around to make 15 or so to start. Where can he download the OS?
Becky
PS: Great 4/1 joke, rotflmao
;;;I have been having problems receiving messages for more than 2 weeks, and i think it took me about that long to realize it was a joke. Still laughing. DonnaS
I wasn't really fooled; I know you would have released a beta way before now if it were true, Dave, I mean making a new Linux distro has got to be hard, and he would have to be working on it for awhile. Besides, you didn't even say if it was going to be released under the GNU Public License. :)
But I think switching everyone on DG to Linux is a great idea, there are plenty of good distros out there even without davex. So what distro are we going to recommend to the population? I use Fedora but maybe we can get them going on Suse to start with, and maybe you should put up a Linux FAQ somewhere on DG to help them learn.
-Paul-
What?????? I only recognized one word, Fedora, and that's a hat! Maybe you just mispelled Linux. If it should be Linus, will Snoopy run the network?

Say goodnight, Gracie.

Ahhhh....my very first April 1 on DG....good, good, good. Reviving a lost art. The newspapers around here are too scared or dullened to print fake headlines any more.
Now, about that Linux box: if it scoops kitty litter, I'm in. ;-)
Shannon
What a hoot! Love the idea and can see that a lot of others do too. Looks like a great business opportunity for somebody...Barb
Shannon, one of our papers did...If you lived in the little town it's talking about, you'd *really* have a belly laugh. It's a little New Englandy college town with incredibly strict zoning regulations and an active historical society. http://www.ourtownews.com/index.php/article/articleview/449/1/1/

Terry, DG Admin.
How do I do a [HYPERLINK} ?
Thanks, Joan
Gardenwife, that's such a hoot - thanks!
We plan to really pile-on the ambience
lolol !
Hi Joan,
I know you were asking Terry, but I can offer some input if you like - if you just copy & past any URL into your post, it should show up as a hyperlink - as long as it has the "http://" part. If you want to try it out in relative privacy first, the Test forum is a great place to do that. I hung out there quite a bit while figuring out how to post digital pictures right-side-up. Here's the link:

Good luck :-)

Here's some specific instructions for adding a hyperlink: http://davesgarden.com/faq/forums/#127
heck I thought we were all gunna get a Lexus that would go straight to DG
and only pay 399 for it!!!!!
Dave, don't want to sound too ignorant, but I gotta know if the box will be available with a PTO option?
you folks really are crazy !!! no wonder I feel so at home :) :)
Dave, I would sell my car to buy the Davex Box if you can assure me I will be able to smell the flowers of the pictures posted in the forums and the PF. Please let me know.
Ursula
Man...DH and I spent dinner trying to figure out ... 'why on earth...'... How would Plant Scout work? DH's comment: "That Dave must really know his computers!"....DUH!
HAHAHAHA...good fun!
Carol
Maybe we could have some sort of noseplugs to go along with the BigSensor Keyboard, along with some virtual reality gloves (virtual pruning and seedling pricking-out practice).
I really like the idea of virtual reality gloves. I really need seedling pricking out practice right now. Have about 100 more to do. Or..... maybe a robot that does it for me. That's it, a gardening robot. Prunes, plants, but best of all, it WEEDS!!!
Phew, your scaring me. I would go through too much withdrawals I'd need a shrink. Even for us 35 year veterans of growing gardens and such DG has it covered better than any gardening books or other materials. Koodos to the April fools joke. Tears came down my face as my jaw dropped to the floor.
OH my goodness I just saw this and about had a heart attack. Thanks for the scare Dave. I was already coming up with some excuses on how I could talk my DH into this one.
