The South Bed Come Alive!

Quoting:
Technically, we could still have a hard freeze, but it really doesn't look like it will happen... famous last words! LOL!

I thought that same exact thing last weekend when it was in the upper 70's and I was planting onion sets. "Yep, it's definitely spring, so I can plant all this stuff out and not worry about it. IT'S GORGEOUS! " Yeah, right! I even brought my bedding plants outside for a little fresh air. Didn't take me long to bring them back in and now they're crabby, like me :) They got a taste of the outside world and want back out. I'm fighting them off the best I can, but some of them are threatening to call the plant rights committee. (I didn't even know they had joined.)

I keep telling myself that Michigan and other parts got hit pretty bad last weekend while we were basking in the sun. I'm hoping that this weekend isn't our turn.

I'm in the same boat here, Joan. It's been so nice that I've started moving more things out of the basement, and now they are going into the unheated greenhouse. Today, I plan to take some of the tougher perennials, such as dianthus, out to the tables. I'll cover them with floating row cover at night. If today is as warm as yesterday, I plan to pull out the tote of summer clothes and look for my shorts & tank tops. That should scare away any bad weather! LOL!

Wonderful story and photos thanks Weez :)
The weather's gone from rain every day for 10 days to 30C+, blue skies and sunshine. I still haven't got used to this climate.....
Hope all your green babies stay safe

Hi, Phil. It's good to hear you are enjoying some sunshine now. I hope our good weather holds out. I'm starting to set flats of plants out on the tables with some floating row cover over them at night. This is very early for us.

The locals tell me the winter here was much colder than usual for the area - but now summer has come!
I do hope your weather continues to be delightful and doesn't turn around with its teeth bared!
Must get out and do things before it's too hot here - I'm not used to this at all!
Still loads of seeds to sow, cuttings to take etc etc!!

Thanks for the good wishes, Phil. I envy your early summer, but I won't envy the heat you will have later on! The south bed is really doing well since we put the soaker hose in there. The pink arabis is in bloom now. It looks lovely with these double narcissus.
