LOL ....yes...I'm waiting.

COLEUS FORUM.....SIGN UP HERE DAVE'S WATCHING
A separate Coleus Forum would be kewl, and here's why:
At first, I assumed that the Houseplants Forum would cover these beauties. Hey, they were merely a 'houseplant' to me since that's how I grew up with them in the midwest. :)
Then I thought Foliage Forum, 'cause that truly is what Coleus is all about.
Never thought of Coleus when I hit the Annuals Forum, though, so I was surprised to find the Coleus Addicts threads flourishing within it. "You can grow these outside somewhere?!?!" LOL
Three great spots for the same plant. Why *NOT* have its own Forum to consolidate the threads regarding it?
Anyway, with such a great interest in getting a Coleus Forum, have ya'll started making lists of which threads would need to be moved there? Might not be too tough, though, many are already in our watch lists... ;)
Donna
This would be great as
THIS would be great seeing that I love coleus.
ilove coleus
Thanks for the vote TuttiFruitti, but you missed one forum.
Perennials..........Coleus are perennials here..

Happenstance, you might want to check out the PlantFiles homepage ;o)
Thanks Terry, Glennis is very pleased to be so honored. :-)
hehehehe, I happened to see your post, and was erasing a duplicate image anyway, so voila - enjoy!!!!
I vote yes for a coleus forum!
i vote for one.
Thanks kids..........keep the votes coming....
It's almost time for a meeting.....Julie will be calling it to order, I'm sure, very soon.........
Calling it to order? Not unless by 'order' you mean calling *in* an order. I'm doing a lot of that lately. ;-)
~julie~
Ya mean the queen has to do Everything, Julie?
Count me in. I love coleus--in the house and the garden.
Nancy Lee...I never really wanted to be Queen...I just like to watch someone else do the job. LOL
~julie~
I never really said that I absolutely wanted a coleus forum in my first post so I'm saying it now. I'm voting for one and hope it will happen before the season really gets started.
Glennis is still preening at the top of the page in the PlantFiles......I think she's gonna get a big head, as she thinks she is QUEEN ! :-)
http://davesgarden.com/pf/
Julie, what are trying to say????? OH MY, OH MY........I have to be queen and "do" too? Oh, Oh.
Brugie, thanks for the vote. I hope too that it will come to pass before the big drive to plant..
Nancy Lee
Don't we already have a forum for this? The foliage forum:
http://davesgarden.com/forums/f/foliage/
If coleus doesn't belong in that forum, I don't know what does. :)
dave
Sure would be easy to trade and track on our own forum. I just got 5 six inch pots in of them. two big enough to take a cutting from. Diablo and Haines.
That way I dont have to keep track on three different forums.
Dave,
To find Coleus, we have to search...
Annuals
Perennials
Folage
House Plants
Tropicals
Container Garens
Shady Gardens.
Can't we be all in one place. You see the response that I've had. They are from all over other forums. Please note the last one from TARogers5 @ 2:57pm today.
Thank you for your consideration.
Nancy Lee
If the foliage forum isn't for coleus, then what's it for?
dave
I 'm for it. Linda
Dave,
It can be for trees, bushes, shrubs, etc.
When I lived up north, Rochester, NY, some people liked fall so they could take drives to look at all the foliage. I don't believe it was coleus......
Nancy Lee
I think the foliage forum was proposed as a place to discuss ANY plant with interesting foliage - whether it's a houseplant, a perennial, shrub or tree with variegated or unusual coloration to the foliage.. The emphasis would be (should be) on discussing the merits of a plant's foliage, regardless of what type of plant it is. (Generally speaking, it is for plants grown for their foliage.)
Coleus would certainly qualify as a "foliage plant". But I think what a few folks here have mentioned is that coleus threads tend to wind up in a variety of places (annuals, foliage, container plants, tropicals, houseplants, etc.)
Now, if the foliage forum lacks focus (say that three times fast!) we could perhaps transform it into a Coleus forum. But if there is good level of activity in there, and not just Coleus plants, then taking over that forum wouldn't be a very good idea.
Terry,
I just checked the Foliage Forum and it is not being really used. There was the following posts:
3/20 2
3/19 1
3/12 1
3/1 1
2/19 1
1/27 1
Not too many uses.
Nancy Lee
Dave
i'll vote for a change of name from foliage to Coleus
Same here.
Thanks for the support guys.....
Terry,
See, we even have addicts! How bad is that?
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/492520/
I love coleus so I will add my 2 cents for what it's worth , I agree we have a Foliage Forum already and that coleus should go there. BUT I also understand how they could be put in several forums. How about just a a name change to Coleus and Foilage Plants or something along those lines?
Mystic,
Why can't we be all growed up like Roses or Hosta, etc? There is enough of us....
Nancy Lee
Brugie
Thanks for the info on Rosie dawn gardens, they're only 30 minutes from my house.
Beautiful plants.
Paul
Paul,
Will you put me in your pocket when you go. It has to be a spiritual experience!
Nancy Lee
Happy I am not voting against you, I was trying to help you. I think combining the coleus with foliage would work. With coleus being part of the name of the forum. However Dave wants to do it. I think by combining the 2 would work better because this time of year and the summer is really all anybody will talk about the coleus, but if you keep it foliage too. Then you would have year round interest in the forum.
Mystic,
Is it a done-deal, or can we put it to the members who wanted a Coleus Forum? It's just not me.
Nancy Lee
Happy, no it's not a done deal the decision is up to DAVE, I am just like everybody else adding my 2 cents.
Mystic,
Please give Dave our 2 cents too. Thanks
I don't usually say much in these kinds of threads but Plumeria got a forum of their own and they could easily have stayed in Tropicals, right? I'll deal with whatever Dave decides, but I believe coleus warrants a forum before violets or plumeria. I read someplace that coleus are the most popular plant now and from the looks of our local greenhouse, it must be true. JMO.
I'll vote in favor of a Coleus forum! After reading a bunch of the "addicts" posts I've got the coleus bug again now, too!! Am amazed at how varied one lil plant can be and now I feel this urge to get as many as possible! Just ordered seeds from Parks and several plants from the Rosy Dawn Gardens place so I can join in later this year in trading.
Carolyn
I vote for a coleus forum too and if anybody has 'Glennis' to trade LMK. I saw it in a mixed planter last year and nearly swooned. It looked like a pointilist painting, breathtaking. Unfortunately it wasn't for sale and I kept my hands in my pockets so I wouldn't give in to the tempation to pinch. I make it a point to abide by the rules but that coleus nearly drove me to crime. LOL
