The Pink Flowers are Back!!!

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

I love it, welcome back pink flowers, sure did miss 'em! I kept waiting for the teletubies to come running over the hill on the other one.

Northern Piedmont, NC(Zone 7b)

It's like an old friend has come home. Thanks Dave!

Thanks for bringing back the old logo flowers. It does feel friendlier. You said the server is badly overloaded, so is there another bigger one in the near future? Is that why I sometimes get a page not available notice and then the next time I sign on it is all working again? I think you have done a great job of keeping us online in this situation. Thank you very much.

San Jose, CA(Zone 9a)

Lisa....you made me laugh...I didn't think of that! The teletubbies!!!

Thank you, Dave. I love it!! Would look great on coffee mugs.

Huntington Beach, CA(Zone 10a)

Just popped in during the big game and WOW, was I surprised. I came immediately here to find out if it was all for real or just my crazy computer. I didn't realize until now how much I enjoyed our old logo, but I also like the colorful top border.

Thank you Dave for always thinking of our likes and making DG a fun place to come to. OOOOHHHH and thank you too Jorge.

Donna

ps. I also love this font better. It doesn't look cartoon like. lol

Carmel, NY(Zone 6b)

Love the font - very exotic. It somehow goes with the vines!

Newcastle, ON(Zone 5a)

Surprises all the time. I like it better too!
Cheers, for Dave!!!!!!!!!

Saint Peters, MO(Zone 6a)

I love it Dave!
With or without the rolling hill.
Love the font, too!
Now I want a tee shirt.

Santiago, Chile(Zone 9b)

OK, I can take it: I'm an outsider LOL. It seems I'm the only one that liked the colourful logo with the teletubbies' meadows better than the MG vine.

Des Moines, IA(Zone 5a)

yeah! I'm not going crazy!!!! I thought I saw Pink flowers today but not yesterday! I like them too! Thanks. Jill

Jackson, SC(Zone 8a)

welcome back pink flowers. its been awhile. cool!!!!

NW Qtr, AR(Zone 6a)

Nahhhh, you're not alone Ursula ...

The representation of the colorful, but 'now gone' (newer) 'flower/petals' logo, clear font and updated graphics .. were jes wonderfully brilliant and delightful. Provided such a warm 'welcoming' of sorts ...

It's almost like having a banana split piled high with tons of wonderful goodies, then it's taken away ... and one is left with jes plain ol 'niller, and it's generic, to boot !! Maybe more like cardboard, for 'eye' candy ...

Perhaps, all the bells & whistles have been overloading the new server since the cable/backhoe snafu ...
Ahh, but who knows - I sure don't!! ..

I am still sort of new to DG. I have never seen this logo before but I really like it. Thanks Dave.

OOOOH! Very, very pleasant. Noticed it right away when I logged on and told my hubby,"Dave's given the site a spiffy new look". Little did I know the look isn't "new" at all. Very nice :) I like the font and the pink flowers very much. Also liked the teletubbies hill, but the vine's very classy. Like it!!! :)

Moab, UT(Zone 6b)

Hurrah, I like vines and flowers better too! Not that it makes a true difference to the goings on at all. Same info, same group, just diff heading. And makes such great looking name tags.:

Gee...and I bet that would look pretty snazzy on a T-shirt too.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Yep, I 'm really glad it's back too- the bright petals just didn't look as friendly - "If it ain't broke, don't fix it"! ô¿ô

Dallas, TX(Zone 8a)

I totally agree. I think that this new, or old, logo is the best one. I looks friendlier and is more appeallling.

Newark, OH(Zone 5b)

Dave and Jorge! Thank you! It feels more like home again! :) We really missed that Folkard font and the morning glory motif. It all has a such an earthy, natural flow to it. It just feels more alive than the new logo. It was technically-perfect, eye-catching and simple, but just not as instantly recognizable and organic as the original. I agree, the rolling hill was nice, but can understand where green-on-green would be more difficult to reproduce in different media. Would the curving hill still work if the elements appearing over the hill color had a thin white outline?

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

To me, this new 'top' looks a bit dull and unappealing. It gives the feeling that something is amiss. We were so much used to the older one. May be the blue background has to be made lighter. Glad the vine is back. May be colour for the "for gardeners, by gardeners" need a re-look.
Dinu

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

Dinu, I agree, I suppose the blue is to represent the sky, but it is a little dark - I really prefer the "Old,Old" logo. Maybe it's just because I am Old, Old, and resist change.

Rocky Mount, VA(Zone 7a)

Dave thanks for keeping us "on-line".

Fort Pierce, FL(Zone 10a)

Thanks Dave. Seeing the pink gave me a "warm and fuzzy" feeling! Home again, home again, where the sweet blossoms twine.

I really like how the old old logo looked...trying to locate it on my HD...but not able to yet...ophs...here it is...

I agree the bright blue and green...are alittle bit too bright or something...

We also used to have a population sign right under it that reminded me of the ones you sometimes see in small towns. That came real early in DG history, when we had only a few hundred members. Another friendly touch that has gone somewhere. Anybody know how many members we have now?

Hi Mary,

You can always see the population number by clicking on Member List in the menu.

best,

I like the view of the web site. I kept looking at it and thought there is something different, I also thought maybe it had been that way and I was just loosing it. You know age does do funny things to our minds.

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Thanks Dave. I think another great touch we have here is that a friendly webmaster responds!

Loysville, PA(Zone 6a)

Thanks Dave,
the pink flowers and everything else about it is beautiful.
I sure hope it's a keeper !

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Right now that membership number is 136,225. Absolutely amazing!

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Ursula, Magpye and Dinu, I'm with you - the pink flowers are lovely but the straight horizon looks very .... computer-ish. I don't think even the salt flats have a horizon that straight! Ah, well....go with the flow I guess!.... :-) I'm glad everyone's happy.

Myself, I liked the daisy logo better. I think that the best logos are bold and simple. I also think that the daisy was more cheerful, but that's just me. Maybe it's just that I'm not a pastel person.

I know - can't please everyone.

Santiago, Chile(Zone 9b)

Hey, I'm not alone: there are five of us!!!!!! (among 136,225 - not bad - Im just practicing optimism LOL).

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Its funny how a logo or fonts make a place feel more "like home".
I'm so glad the logo is back, but i think it gets a little lost in the brightness of the background. It used to "stand alone" and was highly visable. Now its almost too subdued, but...at least its there : )

Modi'in, Israel

136,225 members....but how many paid subscribers? I really wish that number was available too.

As for the font, I guess I'm way outnumbered ROTFL! I also really liked the rolling hills. This new banner looks flat and unanimated. The other one looked alive! If nothing else, can we please have the hills back? Please? Although I like the pink flowers better, I can't see how anyone would think the multi-colored daisy was unwelcoming. How on earth could a daisy not be seen as friendly....it's a daisy! Daisies SHOUT out HAPPY! :-)

Julie,

On the Member List page, select the "_" that follows the digit "9" in the "Browse by the first letter of the username". That's a little trick that will give you a list of all members (136,000+). ;-)

Then, select "Click here to view only subscribers", and the total number of subscribers will be listed (3,200+).

Hey Donna...that works!! Thanks. I see that a lot of people need to update their address though. Jo

Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

One thing that is special about the old pink morning glories logo is that it was designed my DG members. Probably in the archives there is a thread about it with comments and suggestions until the logo was perfected. Having witnessed the process I feel connected with the old logo rather than the other generic one. Rolling hills, yes, those would be nice.

Ottawa, ON(Zone 5a)

Or, just the white background like it used to be, if I remember correctly.
