Woo! Those little portable greenhouses look pretty good and the price is right. Guess I'll be sending for one asap. Glad to hear Darius made her trip safely, long drives are exhausting. Nothing on the agenda today, listed some books on half.com, where I unload all my paperbacks. I've no room left at all to store books, and would just as soon pass them on. Since I go through 2 or 3 a week, it doesn't take long for them to pile up. Love mysteries, and long historical novels...best sellers, etc.
I'm longing for spring, days without sunshine are so long and dreary. sometimes I close the drapes and blinds so I don't have to see outside, and light up the fireplace just to have a diversion. Marcia, check your mail.....
Coffee and...Part 6 :-D
Already had my tea so I'll have coffee, please. And of course, some creamer, no, not the ucky sweet flavored stuff, just the plain is great! Thanks!!
I'm reading and playing euchre til 10 am, then heading to DD's. DGD has to have that dye in the bladder and kidney test done at the hosp. today. She gets bladder infections and dribbles. Hopefully it's just the short valve/tube problem little kids have that she'll grow out of. My niece had it too, had to be on low grade antibiotics for a couple of years. The tube grows longer and doesn't backwash anymore and then the infections stop. Too many infections, and it's scarred and won't grow, then they have to surgically lengthen it. Definitely a bigger problem then being on the antibiotics that long. (Altho I hate that thought, but it's the best option.)
C ya's later....
There are 2 book sales in our county each year. One at the college gymnasium sponsored by the AAUW for their scholarship fund. The other is in the basement of the library in October. It is also a fund-raiser, especially for the new library building under construction right now.
I printed out a list of Nobel Prize winners, Pulitzer Prize Winners and National Book Award winners. I only found about 3 of them but am very happy with them. Wish I had more time to read. Maybe if I stayed off the computer a little.......
(Boy that's what I get for working in two windows! LOL I onlu managed to post PART of what I was writing. Here's the rest!)
Good Morning everyone! Pass the coffee pot please. And I think I'll have a toasted bagel and some of that blueberry cream cheese...perfect!
Mary...I was just reading through some notes I copied from an old thread about using 'homemade fixes' for our seedlings. I wanted to thank you personally for the little note you left about using the chamomile tea to help prevent dampoff. (OK everyone...stand AWAY from the chamomile teabags! :-D) I'm definitely going to brew a pot today and use it on my emerging Lisianthus and Basil. It's great to have people like you sharing those kinds of useful tips.
And yes, those greenhouses had my creative juices flowing all day yesterday. And the system that DH has decided to use with the roll-up awning over the the top of the bench (not for use with the greenhouses, necessarily) will give me a spot other than the patio to work on all kinds of other garden related projects. I really enjoyed making some hypertufa containers last summer...but I was working in (read that *trying* to work in) a very small and HOT garden shed. Not a good situation!
Thanks for the note on the potassium!
Marcia G...I know what you're talking about when you say you need a vacation to somewhere warm. :-D I don't *need* a vacation...but if someone offered me an all expense paid one, I certainly wouldn't turn it down. (Chin up, sweetie...it'll be here soon.)
Blooms...>:-} MUST you tease us with that T-SHIRT weather? hehehehe (You lucky dog!)
M5...if you're seriously interested in those greenhouses, you might want to order online. The page said "limited supply" (that one will get my attention every time! :-D). I'm already dreaming up ways that I can extend their use a little earlier...like putting styrofoam insulating panels under the bottom, laying my heat mats on that and then erecting the gh units on top...and THEN making styrofoam pieces to form a roof over the whole thing. (I am only dreaming here...but it sounded like a GOOD idea to me. :-D)
Kooger...usually don't like to play cut-throat because I can't keep up with who I'm trying to beat and that TWO players gang up on *me* when I get the bid. I usually lose that version...but yesterday I was WINNING! :-D
Those kidney/bladder infections can be very painful, especially for little kids. I had them when I was young. I'm glad they are doing something for your DGD.
Hi Jo!
Betty...those of us who would like to have time to read but won't stay off our computers (that includes ME btw ;-)) can tell ourselves that we *are* reading! The words just aren't on *paper*. hehehe
Unless Darius sneaked in while I was typing again, I think I touched base with everyone who posted between my last reply and this one. LOL
Today, I'm going to finish the things I didn't get done yesterday (get the WS DONE!) and probably start going through my list of things I'll have to plant this spring. I need some sort of general plan so I can sort things out *before* it comes to planting time. And...I Got my package from Parks yesterday...so that means it's time to get serious about cleaning off the 'frivilous' plants on my stands that are just taking up space.
So, I'll be seeing y'all a bit later...
~julie~
P.S. HI DARIUS!!!

From Darius:
I may not be online much for the next few days as we have a busy "schedule"... more to do here than she said. Today we are beginning on the garage so there will be a place to put stuff.
Tell everyone "Hi"... I don't have time to read all my watched threads.
She's pretty tired - I told her not to 'overdo' - hope she listens. :)
Hehehehe...If you read my reply above and thought I missed quite a bit, you were right. LOL It's explained up there.
Thanks for the message from Darius, Kooger. I'm glad she's doing well and really happy she's so busy she can't even read those watched threads. That means she's having a GOOD time!
~julie~
Good morning/afternoon, whatever you have at the moment. Good tea, good company, nice place to sit, pretty day, all good stuff.
On the bulb forum I posted a photo of an amaryllis that is in bloom in my greenhouse to see if anybody knew what it might be since it was supposed to be a bright pink but it is white and green with red edges on the petals, a pink streak on the petal going inward from the tip and double, yes, the first double one I have had. It's might be Andes, an African double that one supplier has for $15.95 before shipping. I got it at the discount store for about $5. The other one I bought at the same time has no sign of a bloom stalk yet so now I have to wait and wait to see if it is anything more exoctic that what is pictured on the box. Before I typed all that I should have just said I'll post it so you can see.
Ok Julie, tell me about those hypertufa containers? Do you have pictures of the process or the finished products?
I was reading something in the paper about old pantyhose. Somebody cuts one continuous strip starting at the ankle (just one layer) and cutting round and round all the way to the top of the thigh. The strips are then rolled up in a ball like we used to do with string and can be cut off to any length. Slick idea! Another person puts an onion, then a bread bag clip, another onion, another clip and hangs the whole thing up in her storage room. The onions have plenty of air so they don't spoil, and the thought of how this must look gives me the giggles. L-o-n-g legs with big cellulite!!!!
Well, on that happy note, I shall depart to see what I can accomplish outside.
OMG...Mary, that's beautiful! I don't think I've even noticed a dbl amaryllis before. Yummy!
Here's a thread over in the Container Gardening Forum on one hypertufa. A little way down in the thread is a link to more info.

My projects last summer were the very first ones I did. One pot that turned out looking like a BIG straw hat...and a couple of stepping stones. This year I have planned several troughs for sedum and alpines, and a couple of large containers for my front gardens. LOL We'll see if I get *any* of it done. :-D
~julie~
TA-DA!
I *finally* finished up my winter sowing project!! 105 containers! And they're all out in the cold and ready for the freeze/thaws that set them in motion. Whew...it's all done. :-) And I'm proud of myself. Normally I'll start something and never see it through to the end.
Now I have about a month and I'll start planting my veggie seeds. Looks like I'd better get my house cleaning started before spring gets here. LOL
~julie~
Hi all, busy bunch you are.
Kooger, so sorry to hear that. I had that stuff as an adult and it was bad enough-poor little one.
M5-will check mail
Fun today-went to the Habitat for Humanity-Builders "stuff"store-they get donations from builders, re-habbers etc. of new and gently used stuff.
A lighting fixture, similar to the one in dining room (over $110 at Menards) was $15 there-new! Also, enough used full maple tounge?groove flooring to cover almost 2000 square foot for $2000- I don't think you can even get that stuff anymore-would love to have a planer able to skim the top to clean it off, a crew to re-finish and put the puzzle of the flooring lengths together and the house to put it in-just lovely. Was also looking through ceramic tiles. Will be measuring a door and going back> Almost as good as a garden center. Gotta stop watching HGTV house fix-it shows.
booksales, working in garden-stuff after my own heart.
Getting ready to get ready for spring!!!!!! :) :)
Julie-lisianthus-sigh!! Are they tough from seed? I winter over the green double last year and had a wonderful season. Tried this winter and lost them all (that's where I got the fungus gnats). Just love those doubles.
Mary-beautiful!!
Off for more coffee and books>>>>>
lol, julie, all that organization. I took a handful of cleome seeds and basically threw them onto a small terrace so at least I'd know where they went.
Ah darius, are you all going to redo that house, too? Maybe it needs "A Woman's Touch" to make it more saleable? Don't forget to post pictures of you and your sister and the house.
Marcia...I didn't realize when I bought the seed that lisianthus are a little delicate for us (z4/5) to handle...but I have them germinating right now. So far, they're still "under glass" where nothing can get to them...but...I'm pretty good at getting dampoff and already have a few fundus gnats. Not quite as many as I had *before* I watered things with a dish soap bottle that hadn't been cleaned out completely ~sheepish grin here~ Yes, I killed some of my hard winter work doing that, but I learned a *good* lesson. CLEAN the bottle til there's NO SOAP left. LOL
That maple flooring sounds gorgeous...DH wants to know where that store is.
;-) (Don't tell him...hehehehe)
Betty...it's all that "organization" that gives me ulcers! :-D LOL I think I like your way better.
Darius...I agree with Betty...we need to see some pictures as soon as you get a chance. :-)
~julie~
Hello again. Julie, I have some Siberian Iris seeds that I soaked in hydrogen peroxide for 24 hrs, now soaking in 1/2 water 1/2 hydrogen peroxide for about 10 days. Next step is to put them in some soilless medium and chill them. So, now I'm thinking maybe put that mixture in a plastic jug and put it in a shady flower bed and let them freeze and thaw until they want to come up. What do you think? You must have had some experience with it to be doing so many containers this winter. We still have plenty of freeze and thaw weather left before spring comes to stay.
Today was beautiful and sunny and about 35 degrees which is ok without wind, but just when I wanted to go riding the wind came up and it was colder than I wanted to be out in for the next couple of hours, so I didn't go. So I stayed inside and did some looking for things online, sorted out a pile of seed and flower catalogs (slow job because it requires lots of looking) and just did a bit of this and that in the house. It was one of those days when I just couldn't seem to get warm, had cold feet all day. I thought about going for a walk down into the big pasture with the dog but decided my earache would likely flare up. Everything looked so nice out there but I could hear the wind from inside the house. Poor me! Sniff. Maybe I should have just stuffed some cotton in my ears and gone anyhow.
We have a pair of Great Horned Owls that nest here on our property and raise babies every year. They are fun to watch and every evening when I feed my horses I hear them talking to each other. They seem to be taking over a nest that the Red Tailed Hawks built and used last year. The hawks nest later in the year so they are not challenging the owls. Soon I'll have the fun of watching them build a new one. The owls have been using a hole in a tree for the past few years but this year the hawk nest stayed together through the winter so the owls moved into larger quarters with a view. This morning a Bald Eagle was sitting near the nest. We see them here in the winter but they go north to nest in Canada or Alaska.
Well folks, the yawns are getting to me. See you tomorrow.
Mary, I don't see why your idea wouldn't work perfectly with those Siberian Iris seeds. IN fact I planted some myself. I guess we'll see whether WS works or not. LOL
Oh I love hearing about your Owls. I hope you can get a few pictures this season. One thing I really liked about my old job was that in the winter we were treated to a pair of Snowy Owls that hunted the hill just behind our shop. I could see them from my office window and was thoroughly fascinated by having them so near.
Here, along the Wisconsin River Bald Eagles are regular visitors all summer. In fact, they're here year round as long as there's a little open water for them to fish. No matter what I'm doing, if I hear one screaming over head, I have to stop and watch.
We even have a few pairs of nesting Peragrin Falcons...now there's a sight to behold. The birds in my area are one of the blessings I count most often. (Thanks for sharing yours with us.)
~julie~
Jes' passin' thru. back later. /;-) ~Blooms
You folks are all so busy I feel like a real slacker....although I do have plans to vacuum today and if the spirit moves me, I may even dust....the sun is shining and that gives me inspiration as it shows all the dust that's settled on table tops etc. I either have to have that or the threat of company coming to do any cleaning.......lol
Gonna have to check out that hypertufa stuff, sounds like a fun project. And I'm always willing to start a new project...now, finishing....that's another whole story in it's self!! I did clean up some sewing stuff I'd been piling up though, so that's off my conscience. Also going to check out that greenhouse again, I'm very tempted. After DH finishes the new garage, I was hoping to make some kind of gh in the southfacing back, but this would be better than a permanent structure not to mention a lot cheaper.
If Blooms doesnt stop talking about being outside in tees, Marcia and I are going to stick out our thumbs and head west, because WE ARE SICK TO DEATH OF SNOW AND COLD!! And jealousy is such an unattractive character flaw..... LOL
Yesterday at the gas station I saw a middle aged guy wearing a big furry parka, and ...yes...... I questioned my own eyes.......SHORTS! Go figure. Maybe he was catching a plane to the tropics. The last two years my DIL and I have gone to the Bahamas for a week of sunshine, but this year we are saving our $$$ for a trip to England in the fall. She also has a son getting married in April. So no sun and sand for me until spring comes to Wisconsin....sometime at the end of June. If we're lucky. Sigh. Pass me a bagel. And some coffee.
Marcia I sent you another email, as my prior suggestions didn't work too well!!
Goodmorning....I wish I was as energetic as some I could mention!! That iris seed sounds like work, Mary....I'll wait a few years and let you send me one of the ...what ever you call them....fan?. I love Iris. I brought some back from WV this year...I hope they do well as they were beautiful...and my sister had the most beautiful ones.
Speaking of owls...while at work one day at Coronado National Memorial I saw an ELF OWL...it was only about 6" high....We have a little drinking pond just outside a smoked glass window looking out from the visitor's center...and we see some interesting things some times....but the White Tailed Deer are the most plentiful. Our WT's are much smaller than the ones in other areas....in fact, next to the little Key West Deer, these are the smallest deer in the US.
I have been so busy all week that today I am going to LOAF......now....what do we have in the line of goodies that I can loaf with? I have some Cheesy-pineapple-lemon dessert...have some?
I guess it is going to be nice today....we had a lot of rain yesterday and I fear we may have some more today....but at almost 7 AM it is 51 already....AHHH...let the rain come...just means that the desert will bloom in profusion this year!!!
Since I plan to loaf today....I'll be back!! LOL Jo
Good morning. Just tea this morning, thanks. Oh good, the seat by the window is available. I love watching the birds at the feeder.
I'm by myself for the weekend, hubby has gone up to Seattle for a couple of days. He might come home Saturday evening, or maybe Sunday. Whenever he has to go somewhere he is always glad to get to come home, even if it means driving half the night. A short night in at home is better than a long night in a motel. No matter how much you spend for the room the beds are never as comfy as the one at home.
Jo, that cheesy-lemon-pineapple dessert sounds good. I'm trying to emagine, cake? pudding? sumpthin' else? Tell us how you make it, please. I emagine you do see some interesting wildlife at a drinking pool in the desert. I haven't seen an Elf Owl, but did see a Pygmy Owl at the High Desert Museum birds of prey exhibit a few years ago. They take in injured birds that cannot be returned to the wild. This bird was blind in one eye and about the size of a parakeet. They also had Great Horned Owls, and Long Eared Owls that would fly right over our heads from one handler to another getting a treat each time. The owls are absolutely silent in flight even when they are about 3 feet from your head. I remember that the animals in their exhibits had interesting names, the Long Eared Owl they called Leo, and the Great Horned Owl was Owliver. In another exhibit they had porcupines with names like Spike, and Quilliam. Handlers in the porcupine exhibit wore protective leather gloves that covered most of the arm. The museum also had a river otter display which was viewed from above and from below through a thick glass. Otters have a lot of fun. Oh, and trading for some of those W Va iris sometime in the future, you betcha.
Julie, what color(s) of iris seed did you plant? Are they some you saved or got elsewhere? I got mine from Ebay and they are supposed to be Caeser's Brother, a dark blue. So far they are little brown things floating in a jar. It really is amazing how much genetic information gets packed into a seed, and how miraculous that they grow up to look just like momma, or sometimes they just grow up. I have another one that is lighter blue that was left out of the ground way too long, replanted last spring and it is alive but small. It must have just had a little bit of live tuber. There were several but this is the only one that came to life last year, they will not be disturbed this year and maybe something else will come up from the half dozen I planted.
Here is a picture of a baby owl from last year or the year before. The breeze blow is blowing his downy feathers which makes him look extra fuzzy. I got as close as I could without alarming him and he was getting nervous but hadn't started clacking his beek at me.
I'd better get something done now, see you later.

Hi Blooms...Bye Blooms...LOL (Thought you'd like to know I planted those Datura seeds in a couple of WS containers and got them outside yesterday. From the experience I had last year with the 'volunteers' I'm sure they'll do just fine and germinate when they are ready. ...I hope!)
Hi M5...DH got the confirmation that my gh's shipped this morning!! I wasn't expecting them to even get shipped for 2-3 weeks much less receive them a week after they were ordered! Yahoooooo! I personally don't think, for the price, that you could do any better for a temporary plant shelter.
Oh yeah...I was thinking of trying to find an image of us northerners dumping SNOW on BLOOMS hehehe One thing about it though....we're in for a warm up for the next few days, and maybe we won't have any snow to THROW! LOL
Hi Jo...You're not a 'slacker' at all! In fact, next year, I plan to be doing exactly what you're doing. NOTHING as long as I can get away with it! hehehe
Does anyone want to adopt my CAT???? PLEASE! Before I commit *murder*! I bought 2 beautiful little begonias a couple days ago and had them on my dining room table. There *were* gorgeous. Until Sadie decided they needed to be pruned! Now they're in pieces...just like SHE is going to be if I can catch her after the yelling I did when I saw them.
Anyone know how to propagate begonias from stem pieces? (Sheshhhhh Did I ever mention I *hate* cats??? And don't ask how or why I have one. Because I pormise I'd tell you! - Long story short...this cat was dropped off in my yard when she was kitten...in the middle of the coldest part of winter...I couldn't let her die from exposure...the REST is history!)
Yea yea yea...I know...cats are 'cute' and can be cuddley *when* they want to be. But they shed, they jump AND they eat plants that *I* want in my house. I really have to quit ranting here. :-D
Anyway...I got my order from Gardener's Supply this morning. This is the one that kicks off the indoor seed starting marathon. I bought 4 sets of 40 cell pack APS units (self watering to boot!) a couple of 'growing on' self watering units and all the goodies to go with them. I even bought 3 yds of that 'wicking' fabric so I could set up a self watering system of my own.
I guess the arrival of that box takes precidence over house cleaning. Do I hear 'ey' from the peanut gallery? I thought so. LOL
I just finished with a toasted crescent roll w/reg cream cheese...but there's more over there if you're hungry. How about another cup of coffee? Thanks, I think I will. Right after I boil up some water for chamomile tea for my plants.
Glad you could all drop by...please excuse me while I do up some dishes and check on my plants.
See y'all later...
~julie~
In a funk here= another cold, snowy, gloomy day in Michigan. The older I get., the longer winter seems. Plus I have been huffing and puffing for 15 wks and nar a pound has disappeared. How depressing...
No food in the house to share today - sorry. Really need to take a trip to the grocery store sometime soon!! I'm making gooey cinnamin/pecan rolls for Valentines Day - I'll be sure and save ya some - they are wonderful fresh or warmed up!! (no wonder no pounds are leaving me!!)
Even our bird feeders are without birds today - maybe they need to be filled- I'll need to check that out!!
Have the wood stove roaring and a heating pad on my lap - just can't seem to get toasty warm today/ Probably if I got up off my duff and did some work, I'd warm up quick!! All my cupboards need cleaning, but who wants to tackle a job like that- not me!!
Well, I am a downer today, so I think I will sign off (and read a book!!) Take care all!
Mary...here is the recipe for the Cheesy thing...I don't know what to call it....you tell me. Jo
Le's see now, Today it is raining southern California style - which means pouring down HARD and puddling big time at every intersection and most of the gutters. Seems like they haven't got a good way to drain off all the water. So much of the land is paved - no way does it get to soak in.
I'm so pleased with my getting so much done outside yesterday 'cause the rain will make it too wet to work for the next few days and I can just relax now, The whole front is done and a portion of the rest. Enough for me to take bows>>tadah
Had to take my car to the garage today, as the air conditioner belt was loose and turns out the self tightener was broken. The garage guy was sure I couldn't drive it the 750 miles home. I said well, I drove it here, but it WAS getting noisier. LOL
And I definitely wanted it fixed - was only spoofing about going back to Utah that way.... There's way too much "nothing" between the here and there to chance a highway breakdown.
We had breakfast out while they looked for problem and that was delicious.
But it's time for some of that lemon cheesy something. /;-)
~Blooms
Jo, that must be an extra light dessert, the recipie went up in thin air. Ho ho, it must have been a senior moment.
Julie, can you start some new plants with the peices the cat chewed off? or are they compost? Run Kitty! Momma's on the warpath and you had better find a way to look extra cute for a few days or disappear for long enough so that when you reappear she will be just so glad to see you that she forgets the plant. Believe me, these tactics work when you have blown it big time!
Blooms, working outside in pleasant weather sounds real good to me and I'm glad you have the chance to help your daughter and get some visiting done at the same time. "Too much nothing between here and there" describes a lot of the places I go. Some highway signs say things like "no services next 75 miles". It makes me say a little prayer and give thanks when I get back to where I could at least get some air and water. Running on the top half of the fuel tank is always a good idea too. Once I had forgotten to top off the tank, went to an endurance ride way out in the desert and had to go 40 miles the wrong way to get fuel and then right back past where I had been because I couldn't have driven back 100 miles the right direction on the fuel I had left. You can bet I haven't done that again. Wide open spaces, yep, we've got 'em.
This morning started out pretty but that darned wind came up again and the clouds moved in. I had planned to go riding but don't really like getting chilled and it is easy to wimp out when it's just me. For the past couple of days I've thought about a terra cotta dish I had seen at the Salvation Army thrift store and decided I should have bought it, and so I talked myself into a trip to town. Not only was the dish still there but there was another one I hadn't seen the other day, so they both came home with me to be a home to something, probably cacti or succulents. Even if I don't have something that needs planting right now, eventually they will come in handy. The grocery supply got restocked with some sale items and I stopped and had a Chinese lunch, oh yummy! and brought home enough for my dinner, too. I stopped at one local nursery that isn't open for the season yet, fooey, and another one in town is for sale, might be something happening there as I saw the real estate agent's car and the owner's pickup parked by the office. That one is owned by an elderly couple who have been in the business for the past 25 or 26 years and want to retire. They don't do anything in the winter except water dormant shrubs and trees and tend a couple of greenhouses where they start bareroot roses, clematis, and some fabulous hanging baskets of fuchas, wave petunias, ferns and things like that and later will be starting bedding plants. It sounds like a fun job but at their ages they need to have a differnet kind of fun that could involve an afternoon nap if the notion strikes.
My MSN Instant Messaging works again, yipee! It's so nice when they don't tell you that your old version won't work anymore and instead tell you that your name or password is not recognized. I rebooted, changed password and finally contacted them and left a message that it wasn't working, they made an update notice appear soon after that and when I downloaded and installed it everything works again. Major frustration! Why can't they just say after such and such date your old version will not work and you need to change to the new one? NOOOOOO, that would be too simple.
See you later, I really should do something constructive today...... :)
Sorry Mary!! Senior moment BIG TIME!! Trying again...Jo
http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/481590/
Sarv...those cinnamon rolls sound scrumptuous, and would really fill the bill about now. I hope your weather is warming up a bit today. (We're supposed to see mid-40's today but back down again tomorrow, I think.)
Hi Jo...what's the 'cheesy thing' all about? Something we'd all like to hear about? (Hey, anything with cheese in it suits a Wisconsinite perfectly. LOL)
Blooms...I hate to say this (but I will :-D) tsk tsk tsk...it's actually raining there? awwww hehehe...j/k I'm glad you're having such a wonderful, if tiring, vacation. You sound like you're enjoying every minute of it.
Mary...LOL *stop* teaching my kitty BAD things! :-D Next thing you know she'll be tweeking me under the chin like my boys do when I get mad. They know *exactly* how to get around their mother. hehehe (I have one stem of the begonias in some potting soil in a plastic bag...I have no idea whether it will root or not, but I have to try.)
You know, I've often dreamed about having a little greenhouse business or an embroidery business, but when I really stop and think about what it would entail (no time for ME), I change my mind. LOL
OHhhhh...There's the recipe! LOL It looks fantastic and something I'd like to try for sure! Thanks Jo!
Ok, my news for the day. Dh got the shipping confirmation on that order from Sportsman's Guide yesterday. YIPPPPPEEEEE! My mini-greenhouses will be here MONDAY!! They were shipped on the 10th (the same day he ordered them!) and they be here on Valentine's Day...I can't think of a nicer gift. Well....spring coming early might be nicer. Nope...if it did I wouldn't be ready. ~singing "I'm so excited, I just can't hide it"...I'll shut up now :-D ~
~julie~
Gosh You guys - been upto my eyes in other things for a day or so, dropped back in here and its taken all morning to catch up!!
Glad Darius made it OK - I checked in to make sure she had but didn't have time to read much or reply to anyone. Too busy keeping up with the 2 year old!
Now I'm going to upset some of you, we have crocuses blossoming in the garden! Beautiful blue Thomasianus I think. Spring is almost here !!
Had a marvwllous experience a couple of days ago, a Sharp Shinned Hawk brought his picnic lunch and sat on the yard fence to eat it. He was close enough to the house for me to get pics through the glass too!
I just hope he wasn't eating my Yellow Rumped Warbler!
I'm off to make some Cookies now - do you know 'Melting Moments"? They were the first I ever made back when I was at school, its basically a soft oatmeal cookie with a cherry on top. I'll bring them by when they cool.
Carol! That's a WONDERFUL shot of that hawk! You're pretty good a catching those photo ops.
Hey Darius! We haven't heard anything for a couple of days now...I can't wait to get more of those home baked goodies on the table. Tell us where you've been eating and what you've been up to. (I know you're busy, but I wanted you to know we're still thinking about you and miss your presence at our table.)
Well folks...this thread is getting long. Time to start another one. Fresh table cloth, fresh coffee in the pot, and some fresh fruit in the basket. How do you like those pretty primroses I'm using for a centerpiece? Don't that look fantastic? I just love the little purple ones.
