LOL I figured it out all by my lonesome. ;-)

Coffee and...part 5 :-D
This space for later use...
Just FYI - the cinn. bread is absolutely yummy! :D
Good, pass the plate please, I need carbs...
Not a good day today. Got an email last night that my favorite uncle was not expected to make it through the night. Pneumonia turned into more breathing problems, now on 10 liters of 02 and is now in congestive heart failure. The closest brother to my mother (and the only brother left) and my father's best friend back in my early years. I lived with Uncle David and his wife (now gone) several different years while growing up. They had no children.
I'm the appointed coordinator to get all my generation and his remaining sisters to agree on flowers and get their money. Only one cousin is close enough to represent the family at the funeral, none of his remaining 3 sisters can travel. He's in Wichita.
Good morning. Darius, the timing of your uncle's illness is awful with you having just been so sick yourself...... and now the added stress not just of his illness but having to make arrangements. I'll be praying for you, again, and still. (((darius)))
Oh, there is cinnamon bread left, good. Thank you! My compliments to the chef, you can make more of this anytime. Hint, hint, anytime!!
Meezers I hope you get over this bug real soon, snuggling with a few cats should help. 'tiz the season for getting the yukkies for sure. Thus far we have escaped but I'll be going to a convention this weekend and with people and lots of hugs come germs. My hubby works with the public and all those handshakes and doorknobs, money and sneezes always have me concerned, but so far we are both healthy. Washing one's hands a lot helps, and not touching eyes, nose or mouth. That's why doctors rarely get sick, they know these things.
I'm gonna get an early start on the cleaning project, see you when I take a break.
Ah, Darius...if it's not one thing it's ten thousand more. ((( ~Darius~ )))
I've had my nose in the Uni of WI Native plant site for the past few days (..what do you mean you can tell. hehehe) It all started out very innocently, but I don't remember how the heck I found the site. I was just nosing through my vast collection of pictures and found some of those "what am I?" kinds of things. Then I found one (Hoooray!) and them I was *stuck* looking through the goodies on their site. I just love it because now, if I see something I don't recognize, I can just go to the site, click on the current month, click on the color of the flower, and I can SEE what's blooming in the State (Other than the politicians! :-D). Obviously, I'm having a good time. And, obviously, I didn't go downstairs to clean yesterday either. LOL
Right now I don't recal anyone asking me a specific question in the last thread that I didn't answer...so I'll just say "HI" to everyone, hope that everyone is in good spirits and those who have worries of one sort or another will find them all worked out quickly.
I'm off to play again while DH is shopping, gathering tax 'stuff' and shopping. (Yes, he likes to do that so I added it twice! LOL Actually, he likes to go alone so he can get home faster!)
Can I have a slice of that cinnamon bread too. I just love it toasted with lots of butter! Oh yeahhhhh....nice fragrance....it nearly melts in your mouth. Thanks, I needed that. :-)
~julie~
Well, I've been doing a lot of work with my Inner (Julia) Child this morning and still haven't found a recipe that interests me enough to bake/cook today and bring to our table to share. Pooh.
Good thing kooger made a 4-loaf recipe of that tasty cinnamon bread... it goes well with my coffee... Thanks!
Hey Julie, specific question coming up - can you copy me addy for Univ Wisc Native Plant site? I tried googling but tho I found oodles of sites Not that one.
Not surprised that I didn't find exactly what I had in mind but had a great adventure exploring the ones that came up. LOL -- I too entered the work world on a manual typewriter and flounder on a computor.
I try to catch up with this thread, so it may seem I'm lurking. Not, just trying to add, not interrupt the conversation. ~/;-)
Well, Kooger is sick. Guess it's going around...
{{{{{kooger}}}}}
Well Darius,
I was out running errands today and found my car pulling into the Florida Smoke House (fish). Had a hankering for some smoked fish dip and they had some Wahoo. I have had wahoo fresh and love it, so thought I'd try it smoked.
Then I had to go buy a new blender since my ex broke the last one. I say blender, (not a food processor) because a blender is multi-purpose. You can't make Pina Coladas in a food processor.
It's 75 out and got my shorts and tee on. When I finish my French Vanilla Cafe, need to get out and take care of those plants.
See ya after while.
Molly
Hi all! I don't think I've stopped by - maybe ever.. Anyway, hi Julie!!! Miss talking to you! Darius I am so sorry about your Uncle! That's really hard to deal with, I know.
Well, I don't have cinn. bread but my employee just gave me some chocolate sweethearts! Anyone had those yet? Pretty good although 'real' chocolate is my fav.
Shorts Molly! I don't want to hear that!! :)
Nicole
Just a coffee for me today please, though that Cinnamon bread does look good.......
Kooger heres hoping your soon back to normal {((hugs))}.
Darius, you poor old thing it certainly "never rains but it pours" for you right now. Its never easy to say goodbye to someone you have loved for so long, and doing all the organising can be very wearing. You take care you don't overdo things yourself. {(((more hugs))}
M5 I hope you are feeling better too now - there seems to be a lot about right now {((hugs))} for you too.
Just hope I can stay clear, the grandchildren seem to catch everything and they are very generous!
Well I started my campaign to sort out the blood pressure problem two days ago - with a bit of gentle exercise. Nothing dramatic just a half hour walk, but we do live on top of a hill so that adds a bit. Today I'm thwarted - its pouring with rain, and I'm not that keen and enthusiastic!!
I went shopping instead thinking about the diet side. (I've got to lose some of this weight, one bad fright is enough!!) So tonight I'm going to do cock-au-vin, with lots of herbs, tomatoes, bell peppers, carrotts, rice and no salt. There should be loads so if any of you fancy my new low salt dish your welcome!
Excitment my Brug seeds have started to germinate. I now have 7 different things actually growing, including the mysterious Red Japanese Hibiscus Vine. Thats a seed I was given at a plant swap, but I can't remember who by!!(Senior Moments again)) I can't find any references to it anywhere either and nor can anyone in the Identification Forum. I'm fascinated by them, so far it doesn't look too much like a vine, at least not like the others its sloww growing and very thin in the stem. We shall see.
Off to catch up with some correspondence now.
Carol
Darius...you inner (Julia) Child, eh? I have one of those running around...somewhere. LOL (Hope you're feeling better today...haven't seen any updates on that dizziness and I'm still waiting to hear.)
Hey Blooms! I'm pleased as punch to share this site! It's super! And, on lots of the plants there are other links with even more information. I've learned a lot there.
http://wisplants.uwsp.edu/bloomsearch.html
And please don't worry about "adding" or "interrupting" in this thread. You're very welcome anytime. Have something to nibble on. There's fresh fruit on the table, coffee or tea...or if you'd like a Pepsi Edge in the fridge. :-)
Kooger...I hope YOU feel better soon. We got a call from our oldest son, he's down with a temp that went to 105° during the night. :-O Way too high to be sitting home waiting on something to happen. (Durn fool! He shoulda gone to the docs office!)
Molly! PUT your CLOTHES ON!! In my kitchen you'll catch your death of pneumonia! (It was -12° here last night) LOL And that fish sounds scrumptuous!
Nicole...it's *about* time you showed up! Tsk tsk tsk...where have you been? LOL I miss talking to you too. It's so nice to see your smiling face again. Sit down and chat a while. Sure...I'll try one of those chocolates, if you're offering. :) Are they the Russell Stover's ones I've seen advertised? (I really need to *try* them!)
Carol...super on the brugs! I have one little cutting that I thought was dead. Came *this* close to tossing the whole thing out. When I pulled it from the pot I noticed one teeeeeeny tiiiiiiiny little bud that was just below the soil line. I said "Ooops sorry!" and planted it. That little sucker is growing like crazy since I sat it on the heat mat. I planted two packets of Lisianthus seeds a couple of minutes ago. They aren't germinating yet. :-D (I'm impatient!) Those darn things, I didn't realize that it will take 6-7 months to bloom from seed. Let's see, that puts these in bud about the end of August! (Arrghhhhh...why didn't I *read* the package? LOL)
~julie~
I just HAVE to have one of these...LOL

~julie~
Our local newspaper is printing a cookbook and that sent me looking through my recipes. That led to wanting to cook all sorts of things. Oh my ! it's hard to stay on a diet......
Julie I would too - if I put it out front it might give the HOA a fit though!!
Woodspirit...there's nothing like *any* cookbook to tear us away from our "planned" diets! LOL (I get Cook's and that's bad enough, trust me!)
Carol...you could always put a bandana around his waist. HAHAHA (I just LOVE that thing! Makes ya wish you had a towel in your hand just so you could give a 'snap'. (~giggles~) That catalog has some other cuties too. But most of them I can make for myself.
~julie~
Hi again. That gardener has a case of "plumbers butt". Chubby cheeks or too short a shirttail, well, probably both.
Ok, got my tea and I'll have an orange I think. I've been eating cookies while I've been housecleaning, probably too many already for one day, and well, too much housework too. Hey, it's nice to see a new face here in the kitchen, ncgardenaddict. You know, when I hear the catchy names you guys came up with it makes mine sound really plain, but on the other hand it is easy and I don't have any trouble remembering it (yet). I'm thinking I must be the token westcoaster here, everybody except Jo, Blooms and I are from the middle or the east. I'm farther west than Jo by a few hunderd miles and a bit farther than anyplace in Utah too. Baker City is about 400 miles from the Pacific Ocean so maybe somebody farther west will come to chat some day.
I was just thinking about the great stir a statue of a little boy peeing into a pool of water caused about 30 years ago, so much of a stir that the people finally took it out of their front yard and put it in the back where they had a high fence and the neighbors and passing traffic couldn't see it. That all sounds pretty innocent these days.
Julie, I pulled something up last fall and noticed a live shoot comming off of it. I don't remember the name but it is a tropical thing, came as a dead looking stick in a plastic bag. Frangiepangie or some name like that. Well, after watering this dead looking stick for a few months I decided it certainly was dead and yanked it out and behold, there was something alive comming off that stick and so I quickly replanted it. After several more months of watering it there is still nothing above ground but maybe that will happen when the weather is warmer. The whateveritis lives in my greenhouse and may not be happy with 55 degree nights and sometimes 55 degree days too.
Time to get back to housework. Thanks for the tea, the orange and the place to sit.
Whew, am I STEAMED! Can you see it coming out of my ears? I just had an email from a family member on my uncle's dead wife's side telling me I was NOT to call the hospital for information like I did today, and SHE would coordinate all information.
Uncle David was my mother's closest brother, my father's best friend when they were young men and joined the Navy together, the man who gave me my first puppy, my first tricycle, taught me to drive, taught me to dance, and housed me 3 different years when my folks were having problems, and even tried to adopt me since they could not have children.
And I'm not to call the hospital? You don't even want to know what I wrote back.
Thanks for letting me vent. The steam is slowing down...
It is unimaginable sometimes how people put others through hell during a serious illness and even a funeral. If they didn't have children, you have as much right to information on them as anyone. Did you tell your relative that you had been asked to handle it?
She's NOT my relative, she's the great neice of his deceased wife and had his durable Power of Attorney.
I did remind her of my relationship with him over 64 years, but also asked why so many of his own blood family members keep somehow disappearing from the email update list.
Yikes Darius - glad you gave her the 'what for' - kinda nervy I think!! Maybe she's hoping to inherit everyrthing - $$ or possessions does bad things to people.. I know - been there- done that.
Went out to dinner with my 'teacher ' friends (those still working!) Said the 'flu' was rampant - 9 -10 kids out per class and teachers dropping like flies. The cook was disgnosed with the first documented 'flu' case in the county!! Think how many germs she spread!!! High fever, body aches, sore throat, runny nose = hope it doesn't catch me!!! (I just washed my hands after being out with all of them!!)
Supposed to get below zero here again - have the wood stove roaring, so we are nice and toasty.
I 'll pass on the munchies tonight - still stuffed from the huge salad I scarffed down - didn't pig out on dessert tho.
I'm bored tonight. Thursdays, DH watches wrestling from 8 to 10pm. I just hate it!!! So I usually go to bed, but then fall asleep and wake up at 1am raring to go!! I need to get a life - wish the chat room was open on Thurs evenings!!!
Would you believe I have only received one seed catalog??? I sent for 8 of them before xmas (on line) and have only received one. I think I must be on a 'black list'
Gotta go - natures calling!!!
Some people's kids! It is good to vent steam, avoids explosions.
We've had a lovely slow rain on and off for almost 24 hours now, all of my yard is slurping it up gratefully. It has been so dry this winter.
My yard would never make it under a HOA supervisor's eye. LOL oh my no. But then, I wouldn't either, pajamas with blue clouds on them are probably not de rigueur attire. I'm off to the store for paper goods without which the house does not function properly.
Later~Blooms
What do you mean by a "durable" power of attorney?
Gosh Darius, some people are just plain insensitive and rude. Death seems to bring out the worst in them - its the money thing, they forget others may be genuinely grieving. Don't let her get to you!
Enduring power of attirney is a sort of living will woodspirit. A person signs and records it when they are capable, giving someone the power to bring it into force when they are not. I had one for my Dad who had Parkinsons and knew at some point he wouldn't be able to hold a pen, so needed someone to take over his affairs then, but not before. Hope that helps a bit?
its sort of complicated.
Got to dash - cooking nearly done!
Carol
In the law of many states, a power of attorney with proper wording may be made "durable." This means that the power of the agent to act on the principal's behalf continues despite the principal's incapacity, whether or not a court decrees the principal to be incapacitated.
Through a durable power of attorney, an agent may continue to act on your behalf even after you have had a stroke or other incapacitating illness or accident. If the power of attorney so provides, the agent can use your funds to pay your bills, can contract for nursing home services for your benefit and can make basic health care decisions for you.

Mary...a "frangipangie?" LMBO I just love that one! :-D
Darius...you already know how I feel about *those* kinds of "relatives." At least, so far, they haven't got a Sheriff posted at the driveway and a court order to keep you off the premises. And let's hope it never gets to that. In the meantime, GIVE 'em H-E-dbl L and stick to your guns, lady. It seems to me that you have *every* right to find out how your uncle's doing.
Sarv...I think *I* got *your* catalogs...I only asked for 3 and got about 10 times that amount. hehehe Of course most of them came from the "Direct Gardening" group. ( I know better now. :-D) SOunds like you're trying to be a REALLY good girl, there. I'd be a LOT better off if DH would just quit buying cookies! (Or...if *I* would quit EATING them. hehehe)
Blooms...did you check out that UW link? I don't know if it will do you much good, but it sure is interesting. And I'm with you on the HOA...I don't think I'd make it either. I tend to water my gardens in my night gown. Good thing my kids are my only neighbors. :-D
~ Waving to Carol & Woodspirit as they rush on out the door ~
I did a little repotting this afternoon AND emptied THREE big boxes in my quest to 'clean' my area of the basement. I think that's enough for this week! LOL
~julie~
Okay. GOB's, I think I have calmed down as much as I'm capable... redheaded scorpios do not calm down readily nor easily...
Plus, I found the great recipe Kathleen gave me for her grandmother's "refrigerator" rolls. She made some for the KYRU and I could have stolen every one if no one had been looking! I think I shall bake some for our early morning soiree...
Well, Just in for a minute. Played Spades (card game) tonight on line and lost a lot.
I did get the gardening done today, took a bunch more clippings put some plants into bigger pots, re-arranged the orchids and finally put that Blue Boutique passie in the ground. I was afraid to do that one because it will take over the fence. Spoke to the landlord, he doesn't care and the lady next door has the nasty ficus bushes growing over there. So maybe it will take them over.
I have to be at a customers house at 7:30 am to do a bid for a job, so I betty try to get some sleep now.
Everyone have a good night, don;t stay up too late.
Molly
:^)))
Darius...were those fridge rolls sweet or dinner type? I was just thinking this afternoon about asking if anyone here has the Mrs Colonel Sanders Refrigerator rolls. I had the recipe years ago...used ir a lot...loved it....lost it. LOL (I'm glad you're 'sorta' calmed down. :-D Maybe we should start calling you "Red". )
Laura...don't tempt me with that picture...you KNOW I can do away with a lot of stuff when I'm hungry. And OH LORDY that looks good (and I'm hungry!) ;-)
Hey Molly...Too bad about that Spades game. (I can't *ever* win that stupid game! Or maybe it's *me* that's stupid...not the game! hehehe) Good luck in the morning...hope you get the job.
I'm off to bed where I'll spend the next 40 minutes watching Rebecca's Garden. (It's really a 20 minute show when you FF through the commercials. :-D)
Save me some of the cinnnnnnnnnnn-a-mon bread for toast in the morning!
Nighty night...
~julie~
Molly, if your Blue Passie wins over the ficus let us know. That miserable plant is a double died nuisance in California...
WON'T stay on it's side of the most official HOA wall. No LOL
yep Julie I went and had a short look around and added it to my State Wildflower Sites
The CalPhoto.com site is promising wonderful wildflowers for my trip to California this coming month oops it's almost here isn't it?
Time flies no matter what. ~Blooms
Blooms, thought I heard Captain Cook's clock ticking over here. Maybe we can sic the alligator on pesky HOA personnel.
Hi all - Blooms has been helping me chase down the mythical Blue Moonflower over on the Vines Forum. Through a series of stupid questions by ignoring obvious facts, I led a bit of a wild goose chase over there. But with the wind in my sails and Captain Cook by my side, much edification was had by all.
As you can see, Julie88, I've been gnawing more on my foot than cinnamon rolls. Chasing blue moonflowers down the Amazon and Endeavor rivers in South America and Australia respectively sure beats housecleaning.
Twas a bad day for horticulture when I got wind of the elusive blue moonflower - Mollie perhaps I should join you in a Spades game and give Flora a rest for a day.
Darius and Kooger, wouldn't it be nice if we could bottle Blooms' impishness for those "controlling" moments?
Blues, I love chasing elusive dreams thru the fogs of reality.
With such a companion as you and Capt Cook as our leader, we can safari thru the jungles in search of blue moonflowers, black hollyhocks, green roses, and little bitty elephants hiding in the strawberry patch. I'll bring the tweezers and telescope. /;-)
Good morning! I've been computerless this morning... actually was not without my computer, just the dial-up line thanks to the telephone men who came to put the new line underground. And, they didn't tear up as much of my newly fall planted garden as they might have!
Julie, the refrigerator rolls are dinner rolls. I'll ask Kathleen if I may share her recipe. And I vacillate about being called "Red"... although I'm no longer a redhead, just blonde with a lot of white. The boy who took me to the prom signed my yearbook "I'd rather be dead than red in the head" but another uncle whom I adored always called me "Red" and it was affectionate from him.
Kooger, the cinnamon bread is delish... thanks for bringing us some, and the eye candy photo!
Blue...and Blooms...I went looking for that thread you were talking about...couldn't find it and ended up on a 'safari' of my own...LOL the internet is BAAAAD for me. This morning I went to the Vines forum, and ended up making notes about my shade gardens, the plants I have to plan spaces for, looked through the native plants when I went through some of my photos from 2002...and in between *I started my SPRING CLEANING* What's wrong with this picture??? :-D
Darius, I'd sure like to find that recipe again. If you can talk Kathleen into sharing then I can quite trying to find MINE! LOL Oh! and if I ever call you 'Red' trust me, it will definitely be affectionately.
Who's got chile? I *need* chile! Oh boy, now I started something. I'll have to go *make* some! You're welcome to share!
~julie~
More tea, please! And another slice of cinn. bread. DH sat down on the couch yesterday with a toasted slice with honey on it, looks at me and says, "Boy, this really is good, y'know?" Gave me the guilts. I've seldom made it since quitting my daycare in '91. Had more time then. I'll have to rectify that.
Feeling some better today. Drugs are good! Cipro does a good job for me.
Freezing rain this am. YUCK!! Don't need that stuff at all!
bluespiral - (I was going to shorten you to bs, but thought that probably wouldn't be appreciated, lol) Enjoyed the blue search - scanned some rather quickly - some beautiful flowers there. Especially liked that lavender moonflower. A beaut!!....... Here's the thread: http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/448913/
'controlling moments' - I tend to find the perfect response about an hour after the time I needed it! LOL I'm the peacemaker so tend to let myself be tromped on at times. I'm well aware of it and am willing to take some of it in order to keep the peace. But I will eventually reach a limit and have to do something about it. And when they are such skilled manipulators.....grrrrr! (I decided to delete the rest - dirty laundry and all....)
Good gracious this thread moves fast!!!
Ha Julie! I hope to stay around!
Darius, grrrrr - 'family' or in her case not really but anyway what a pain they can be!!!!! Sorry 'bout your service too! I am finally giving in and getting Road Runner and moving the 'puter downstairs.
Cinn bread looks pretty tasty Kooger!! Considering I had frozen pizza for lunch - ick.
Hi Blooms!
Goodness I took off work today to attend a pesticide calibration class this morning. It was so cold the sprayers were frozen! No offense to any menfolk intended but after I suggested TWICE to put one in a car to thaw it out, they did and of course it worked. Then we were able to get on with our class! Considering it was 21 degrees outside I really didn't feel like hanging around for nothing..
Glad to see everyone is doing pretty well!
Nicole
Laura...thanks for that link! I was really doing some LOL about the middle of it. (I need to get to know these people better. :-D) Glad you're doing a bit better. DS had it for 3 days now his wife has it...and I hope they *both* stay home! ;-)
Nicole...tell me about how fast this thread moves. If I don't check in on it several times a day *I* get lost! hehehe (Uh...I hear ya on the 'giving the guys and idea' I'm married to one of the worst when it comes to that. Never listens...I'll tell ya. LOL
Back to the cleaning...
